Problems encounter upgrading from m2 to z3+. - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im using z5 rom in my m2
Lowest brightness in m2 is better than z3+ I think?
Battery in debloated m2 can keep up with z3+.
Maybe rooting my z3+ and debloating is the solution.
Major issue I encounter.
Ear piece works as loud speaker. O louder than loud speaker to the way that the you can feel the vibrations in back panel.
Phone vibration missing. I solved it by factory reset. But after an hour it wouldn't vibrate again. Maybe i got a defective handset.
Btw im in latest os.

It's twice as powerful as a m2 so trying to compare the battery life of a z3+ to a m2 is ridiculous especially running z5 style rom as there's only enough left to make it work compared to the z3+.
Stamina mode is also totally different in 5.1 compared to MM
My advice would be fine the newest firmware and flash it wiping the device to get the best results
I've just upgraded myself from the m2 to a xa talk about in a totally different league to the m2 z3+ is a good device I think but if you want to root it you'll need to unlock the Bootloader as its the only way to get root from the z3+ onwards unfortunately

Noted sir. I think rooting my z3+ is not on my plans right now. It out of my league. Rooting in z3+ is different from my recent m2. Btw i got a phone replace because of loss of vibration function. After a week this unit also lost its vibration. I dont know if its os or hardware. I didn't soak this phone in water yet so I'm confused right now why vibration is missing.

Sony from sgs 3

Have any of you come from the Samsung galaxy S3 what are your thoughts and opinions on the Sony TL phone? I am looking to get something different.
Well, the TL is only an American release for ATT, and it's the only one (of the Xperia T series) that hasn't had its bootloader unlocked. Root is possible though. There's tons of development for the T, but very little for the TL. I came to the Xperia TL from an Xperia X10, and once I had my hands on that first Xperia, I haven't felt the need to switch brands.I feel like from now on, I'm only going to buy Sony android devices.
Custom roms for the TL can be a little tricky. Roms for locked bootloaders work fine but you have to be careful with the baseband. A lot of these custom roms are built from European builds, so they say to flash the original stock rom (ATT) with only allowing the baseband to flash onto the device to try to keep LTE connectivity. ATT's 4G LTE network is very specific for the US and I've had signal issues with custom roms where I lose connectivity (data and voice) briefly at random times.
On a final note, very nice phone in my opinion. The stock JB firmware on the TL is plenty fast for me. I've basically just put the stock JB back on my phone, then rooted it to get rid of ATT bloatware and to allow tethering (without having to pay extra). Badass phone for only having to pay 50 bucks to ATT to get it. If you happen to get it and it has ICS on it (which had a lot of bugs on the TL), get the JB update on it ASAP.
Sorry to be so wordy, but I've spent hours on this forum figuring all this out. Just trying to save you some time...

It's a great device and acts like the very popular Xperia T, (If you flash the European .140 firmware with flashtool excluding the baseband to keep 4GLTE
I can't say I came from the 3, but I came from an HTC Amaze and the T just blows it away.
Also, I sent you a PM
I purchased the sg s3 to replace my water-damaged Ion and I hated it. I have to take 3 or 4 pictures everytime to make sure I got a good one. I also didn't like the way notifications still come through the phone speaker instead of the earphones when you are using them and I didn't use any of the gimmicky features of the s3. So I bought a TL on Ebay and sold the S3. The camera on the Xperia TL is much better. I plan to stay with Sony next time I upgrade.
I ilke my Xperia T more than my previous phone (S3). Sony's launcher kills Sammy's TouchWiz... and the S3 had some pretty silly rules, like when using the volume button to turn down the ringtone, the notification volume didn't follow automatically. Also it had this annoying volume escalation in the ringtone when getting a phone call. Had to use a 3rd party app to silence it (but some custom roms had this 'feature' fixed so that was good.). I enjoy the size of the Xperia T more than the S3 also.
Things I don't like about the Xperia T that the S3 handled fine were 1) Removing the battery... I like to know I can replace the battery at any time. 2) When I plug my Sony PS3 controller into the S3, it can instantly use it as an input device... when I plug the controller into my Xperia T, it whines about how it can't power it.
I came from the Samsung Captivate, this phone is way better than that device.
The only thing I miss is dsp manager from cm10. The bass and volume were absolutely killer.

Much happier with this than my old s3 had it for 3 days and found it to plastic. No doubting that it's a half tidy phone, just feel that the t is way better made and considering that the s3 is meant to have a better processor. This performs awesome.

Sony's phones are design for speed despite their low CPUs unlike other brands which hogs their phones with useless tweaks, thus reducing speed.

When I said low CPUs I meant for their older device. Also I meant it as lower CPUs. Sony having a lower CPUs than others.

The PS3 power consumption problem doesn't exist if you use Sony Ericsson Livedock DK25 (even though it was for SE2011 devices) as I use an Xbox wired controller on my 3 out of my 4 android devices without a problem

I came from a very similar model, the HTC One XL (only difference between the SGS3 is the extra 1GB of RAM). I was a little skeptical at first but I picked up the TL at walmart for 10 cents. Having not seen them anywhere else I thought it was quite the find. The camera is what sold me on it for sure.
As I got to using it, I realized what a smart move it was. All of my favorite mods for the One XL were native to this device. Bravia engine, clear audio+, xloud, etc. I had pretty much all of the Sony stuff installed on my HTC so it made the stock ROM very much usable; A slightly embellished AOSP. This is the first Android device I have EVER owned that I had no desire to flash a new ROM to get away from the stock software, which is typically clunky and slow, managing memory very poorly. Not with the TL. It takes full advantage of the identical hardware that my old phone had, proving to me that there really isn't any need for quad/octa core power-hungy beasts yet.
At first I didn't like the screen, but after playing with the settings a bit, I love it. The limited viewing angle ensures privacy, though some people do not like it. Colors are very true to life, as opposed to the One XL which is vivid and bright, but colors would look washed out. My wife had the S III and I absolutely hated the power-hungy super AMOLED. screen, everything looked so artificial. What amazes me most about the TL display is how functional it is with the backlight turned way down. Reproduces colors very well and is very readable in indoor and outdoor situations. Makes for a very battery-efficient device.
Yes the bootloader can't be unlocked, and flashing ROMS is limited compared to Samdung or HTC, but when you can theme and mod the device with a locked bootloader why bother? I have CM10 themes and cybershot camera, themed SMS and dialer, with the docomo status bar and task switcher. Debloated and greenified this has been the best stock experience I have had with any device. I'm sold on Sony I think I will stick with them.
I'd say I'd love a unlocked bootloader for the sake of a ported Ubuntu
Anyways, I came from a Motorola Defy+. Whilst the phone was "dumber", there was one single thing it made better than my current Xperia T: Audio playback. Never complained about that. On my Sony, however, it's quite problematic. As I really like to skip audio, it's a issue for me. I also dislike the audio bloatware Sony gives me. I flashed a different .FTF, no difference at all. Waiting for 4.2./4.3 (although I could flash a ROM).
However, this is not the entire story.
The Walkman music player rocks with one single dumb thing: search. I can search an album/artist/song/genre/whatever, and access everything really fast (I've got 20 GBs of music on my phone). And that's nice.
I also like the hardware and the lack of bloatware. The camera, which is good. The screen size is perfect IMO.
I like the fact that it feels mine, and only mine. That I can mod it, if I want to, and that I can.
I really am waiting for Ubuntu for this, and maybe I'll even flash MIUI some day.
I'm thinking of getting an xperia t mainly because of the camera. Should be in my hands by the end of the week. I know that it seems like a downgrade from my nexus 4 but it's not gonna stop me from trying it.

i came to Xperia V from SGS3. i must say i hated the S3 because of it's size and i got frustrated when i tried to operate the phone with one hand and couldn't reach the screen and the phone often fell from my hand trying.
however, i miss the screen, the samsung roms, the plethora of choices and mods to use (not forgetting a super cool CM 10.1 build which i loved)
and one thing i just constantly mind about Xperia V is that doesn't give separate volumes for the ring and notification. as you know we use our smartphones a lot for chatting and i want to be able to have a low volume for the notifications, while not risking to miss a phone call.
apart from this, i love the V. it's water resistant and the camera is cool.
oh yes, and the last thing is the battery. i think that the V should also have stamina mode and try to make the device last throughout the day while using it extensively. when i say this, i always compare the usage time and the battery juice we get from both phones, i have a feeling that the S3 lasted me a good 2 hours longer than the V with about similar amount of usage
I came from a Galaxy Note.
The main thing for me is the camera. The Samsung cameras are rubbish - my note and my friends' S3s and even the recent S4 can't touch the Xperia for camera quality. I don't even take my point and shoot instant camera out anymore!
I guess the thing you will probably notice more than anything initially though it's the screen. LCD isn't so bright and vibrant as Samsung's LED ones, but I find them more natural and the Bravia engine is good.
My only other comment is that I was never really happy with my Samsung phone. I was constantly wanting to flash new custom or leaked firmware for a better experience. Don't really feel like that with the Sony device - it just works and doesn't have the garish TouchWiz interface either!
Im coming from a S3, and my first impression was the build of the entire phone, the quality is amazing and than S3, I'm really happy with my new phone

I had a s3 before. Then changed to the Xperia Ion then just bought the Xperia T tonight.
So far love it. And yes alot more than the S3.

Xperia ZR ! Should I go for it ?

Hi !
I'm looking to replace my dead Xperia S with a more "tough" phone. I almost bought an Xperia SP, successor of the S, changed the decision at the last minute as the SP users told me about how bad its camera is.
So, is there any deal breakers like a bad camera or something like that for ZR ?
I heard a lot of complaints about a loose micro usb port, is that a majour concern ?
Thanks !
Happy Easter BTW

That means I should get it ?
I'm getting a phone today and the choices for me are Xperia ZR, SGS 4, SGS 4 mini, Lg L90, Moto X, BB Z10.
I'm looking for a tough phone with a good camera and a decent battery backup.

I am user of Xperia ZR C5502.far better than Xperia SP.ZR has better camera, sound and battery other than that it is dust and water resistance.
Well I can say that i am very happy with my xperia zr. I would recommend it anyone who asks. Its very good for tough use, i actually dropped mine a couple of times but no major damage or scratches. Tried taking pictures while in the pool and it was really clear and nothing happened to the phone. Although the screen is unresponsive when wet, Hence the need to put a shutter button on the side. Try watching video reviews on the phones you are interested in then make a decision from which function and features you really need. In the end it all depends on what you want. Goodluck! Hope you become a xperia zr user soon!
Ps. Xperia zr is getting an update at the month of may. So its also something to look forward to.

I am a ZR user from almost an year now (i bought mine when it was fresh out on the stores) I could say if you clean the flaps you wont have any problems at all. Some people where complaining from a BT problems but maybe they cant handle the options (no problems for me).Since the price is low now you can go for it its a deal
bad front camera.
I m using xperia zr from 6months and its working great 100% water resistance washing my phone in every 3-4 day picture quality is gud , fast .camera is not that gud compare to samsung note2 otherwise its a vert gud phone in 27k
i have it since middle 2013 and it works like a charm
very fast,very good battery,strong,water prof,acceptable price
recommend it
Nothing extraordinary!
well, the camera is nice in well-lit conditions. But the performance is poor in low light.
Secondly, the internal memory is too low, but that shouldn't make a difference if you are thinking to root the device.
Thanks guys for the replies but I got a ZR in the mean time.
Its fast but after using good quality ips monitor, the screen of zr is underwhelming. The LG L90 demo unit had a better looking screen in terms of colour and contrast.
But yeah, the ZR is a good alrounder !
btw, I have an OTA update notification, 10.3.1.A.2.67. Should I go ahead and update it ?
Or is there any download link for an Indian version of that firmware ?6
if your phone is working good, then don't update. stock 4.3 has been terrible for me. pretty much every voice recording app broke (facebook, viber, audio messaging).
i'm hoping kitkat update in may will fix it.
Even i am looking forward to buy Xperia ZR but it seems in INdia there are no stocks in the shops and they say the production has stopped...and i read that there were heating issues.....this is bothering me..... so if the users of Xperia ZR confirm that the phones is worth buying and there are no such issues then i will go for it...and i intend to keep this phone for another 4 years...so any views?
dont worry about heating
I got a ZR over a month ago. I am very happy with it. There is no need to worry about heating issues.
I live in hyderabad where the temperature is very high (i wont say it's the highest in the world). When I play games for more than 30 minutes i had felt the device getting heated up - I just wipe it with cold water or pour a bit of cold water and it cools down - it is a waterproof phone after all.
The only drawback of the phone is the front camera (0.3 mega pixel) . But i never use video calling so that's fine with me.

[Q] About Xperia SP

Hello Everyone, So, i was about to buy 2 moto g's (1 for me and 1 for gf) But since she saw xperia sp led's she's in love with it and she really likes it, But i have some doubts if i should get it for us or not...
My question is: i did read alot that there is a serious touchscreen problem that plagues most Xperia sp, ghost touches, touch not responding.. problems like that
weak wifi signal, randomly rebooting, overheating for no causa..
Has this been fixed? what is the actual state about SP ? I don't care about it not beeing kit kat yet, i can just place a custom rom if needed
I just won't buy a phone for my girl knowing it'll probably give us more trouble than fun, thanks everyone.
The actual state for the Xperia SP in Android 4.3 Laggy, Buggy, por RAM Perfomanence , but in 4.1 .254 only have WiFi bug. i have cm11 oficial and have bugs in Led
I wish not bought my xperia SP. I wish buy moto g or iPhone 4s
Oh wow... Thanks alot, i guess this is a big no no, I'll just head to moto g along with my girl, thanks alot mate..
Moto G is a good phone but lacks of SD slot, and that makes the phone useless for me...
Now, Xperia SP NOT always is laggy and blablabla, mine have .201 (latest 4.3 update) stock, just instaled once when update was released and works perfect, no lag, no overheating, touch responding, good battery life, no RAM problem, just Wifi sometimes but that was always since 4.1...
Your or your GF has tried to repair or go to service center?
IF you don't upgrade to 4.3, you will have a decent phone. But you will need to root it to solve some issues.
I'm happy with my SP. wouldn't change it for nothing.
Root to solve issues like what?
And QBertoo, we don't have the phone yet, but since sp has so much problems we'll probably head to moto g despite it beeing weaker in terms of hardware but better in everything else.. sorry for double post
You can wait for the moto g LTE

Wifi is good enough for me. Random reboots do happen every few weeks or so, but I'm using Xposed Framework and replaces lots of system apps so that may be the cause of it. Overheating hasn't been a problem for me, it gets hot when on mobile internet, but not very hot and all phones I have used do that.
The Xperia SP is a great phone, I think it is totally worth it and much better than the Moto G.
You could wait until Sony releases the next update this month to see if it fixes the problems.

Z1 still worth it?

Hey guys,
I need a new Phone because my old one (xperia sp) died of water damage...
I made a list and now I've removed the LG G2 (no expandable storage, only 16gb model available) and the S4 VE (too much issues on custom roms). And the only Phone left is the xperia Z1!
Does the xperia Z1 still perform well? It has a cm12 build now, is it stable for daily driver use? Should I give sony another try because the xperia SP is an absolute POS it lagged like crazy, even on custom roms!
It is water proof so I can't kill my Phone again and it seems like a very nice Phone!
Any issues with the device?
thanks,
noahvt
i my self have xperia sp, and looking to buy xperia z1
my friend has one, and it's uncomparable to sp
lightning fast phone, all my attempts to make it lag failed lol, if you buy second hand, mak sure it still has sonylogo, beceause it's ugly without it , camera is superb, my sp's camera feels like a vga camera next to z1 camera
also all z1 phones have touch screen issues when the phone gets little hot from use, your screen will respond to ghost touches, so you have to turn it odd, then on and continue using it

I also came from an XSP. i bought my z1 at december and i happy with it. The price was good, and the phone is a beast.

I don't think you can go too far wrong with either.
I went from Z2 to Z3+ and very satisfied (after being iPhone 6 Plus user before that, iPhones the last 5 years).
Main reason I would've got Z3 is that it is cheaper, however the Z3+ is 64-bit and has a cleaner design (waterproof capless USB port) and 32GB internal memory (Z3 still has only 16GB IIRC).
Battery life of my Z3+ so far seems comparable with my Z2 (easily gets through my day), but the Z3+ also has slightly upraded camera sensor (Exmor RS has two digital stabilisation modes whereas whatever is in the Z2 only offers one mode, also autofocus on Z3+ now using phase detection rather than only contrast detection).
So it depends what is important to you. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either. Maybe wait until the Z5 is available at which time all the other Z phones should get cheaper again ...

but bro overheating ishu
Based on my experience of the Z2 and Z3+ neither phone overheats in everyday use. Like any other phone, they get warm when hammering wifi. The native camera app can make the phones get warm and unlike any other phone the camera app will exit to cool off.
Both phones are warmer than my old iPhone 6 Plus and the Z3+ is warmer than the Z2 - they get warm when they are being worked hard. If you want the least warm phone then get an iPhone if heat is all you are worried about.
Sounds to me like neither Z phone is for you if you are a victim of media FUD. There are plenty of other phones on the market to choose from bro.
After the latest update z3+ heat doesn't exist warm very little like any phone. And i mean little, normal. And the phone is faster than lighting. First sony, i had doubts about this phone but i am very happy with it. So.
