please help......
For GB based roms you need tools you can get from playmarket.
ICS/JB roms need special tools to do this afaik.
could you plz tell me ? which special tools ?
Thread moved to Q & A, post in the relevant section next time.

Help me - USB Tethering
Someone help me !!!
I am using Jusada Original ICS Final on Samsung Galaxy Ace. I need USB tethering.
Can someone suggest me a way to added the functionality in this rom ??
plz don't suggest me apps such as PDANET or Clockworkmod tether.
I have searched the entire forum bt couldn't find a permanent solution. Any help is highly appreciated.
simple solution is just move back to stock rom......there are no....other options available....i tried many roms...but none of them work...its better to have stock rom and update kernel for memory hack/battery extender...
Try the rom on the link on the previous page. USB tethering works. I'm sure it can make your breakfast too but I haven't found that option in the settings!

Hey Thanks guys, I tried many roms were the 'USB Tethering' was available, unfortunately they didn wrk. So switched back to stocklite V7.1.
And i will give a try to Adrenaline rom mentioned above.
I have few quick question, plz help me on these.
1) Is there a way to add USB Tethering as a update/patch which can be flashed using recovery ?
2) Hw to remove scripts added to the rom ?
3) Hw to move/remove system apps in Stocklite 7.1 ?
Plz help with answers or links. And do warn me if i am posting these ques in a wrong forum.

1) I don't think it's as simple as that. If it was easy all roms would have working usb tethering.
2) search for the script. They usually have their own threads. If you can find it and find a flashable zip file for the script then unzip it and see where the changes are, for example in init.d folder(/system/etc/init.d). Then you can delete those files from your phone and reboot. If you are unsure about this, tell me the script you mean and I will look it up for you. Make a backup first!
3. As the name suggests, stock lite is built to have as few system apps as possible. Make a backup first because some system apps you think are bloatware might actually be vital. If you mess up your phone by deleting important apps then just restore your last good backup in recovery.
So to remove system apps, use titanium backup or similar app manager to remove it, if you don't have titanium then delete them from /system/app folder on your phone. If you want to be safe then freeze the app first to see if it makes any difference to your phones operation. If the ROM is odexed you will need to delete it's corresponding odex file in the same folder.
If you want to add system apps then paste into this folder (deodex ROM only) and change permissions to (rw-r--r--).
To move system apps (I assume you mean to a user app?) depends on a few things. If you have a good app manager like titanium backup use that. If the app is on the play store then remove it from system and reinstall from the play store and it will be a user app. If not then move it from /system/app to /data/app (depending on your preferred method of getting around the limited internal space on the ace, like link2sd, cronmod, etc. your user apps could be somewhere else) and ensure the permissions stay the same. (rw-r--r--)
I hope this helps and I'm sure that if this answer to your questions can be improved or corrected, someone will do that!
Best of luck!

Thanks Dude, I am on it.
I've been browsing here for awhile, and always see people preferring flashable zips rather then apps. My question is how do you keep track of these?
Haven't gotten my nexus yet (January 10th ): but I assume when you enter recovery, and select a zip to install it keeps a copy of the zip somewhere. Is there any application (the equivalent to cydia) that keeps track of installed things and gives options to re-install/remove zips? This is going to be my first android devices, so forgive me if this is false :S
Something like Xposed? Its not available for Lollipop / ART yet.
http://repo.xposed.info/module-overview
Most of these "tweaks" are in custom roms anyways.
No. You usually have your zips in a folder (Downloads, for me). Be sure to make a backup in recovery. Once you install a zip, it is permanent unless the creator made an uninstall zip(uncommon). So the only way to recover is from a backup. So usually mods will be apps to save this inconvenience. The only thing like cydia is TWRP manager which is an easy way to interface with recovery mode.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
TWRP will become your best friend. Backup your phone using TWRP recovery onto a OTG drive so you can restore it if SHTF and you some how brick your phone. I keep all of my zip files in a folder within my downloads so it's easy to see them.
Ok so Xposed is sorta like Cydia Substrate, as in besides the framework itself no code is changed to the system, it's all done in real time? So you don't have to flash a stock rom again if something screws up?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Right. But usually any tweaks with Xposed are graphical or convince. If you wanted to flash a new ROM or a kernel, you can't use closed for it. I've been using root for about 3 years, and only ever used about 4 xposed modules.

@jamcswain So when you flash an installable zip your really just automatically changing a file in your rom?

Eh. Kinda. If you flash a zip file, it can do most anything, but usually it runs a script(for things like root, gapps, etc.), or just copies files. Like I have a zip for a sound mod. I flash it and it takes the old sound drivers in /system and puts in the modded ones instead. It is a permanent tweak. Whereas xposed is dependent on the framework, not the ROM. And xposed isn't available for lollipop yet. Basically, (I'm trying to have this make sense), xposed is very limited and flashable zips are infinite. Xposed is independent of the ROM, and modifies apps, while zips usually modify the ROM.

I think you'll enjoy it the learning curve takes a while coming from iOS but the customization and tweaks you can do on Android are endless and iOS is very limited on what you can do.
I'm not exactly seeing the straight forward method for nexus 6 compared to Samsung's
I want to easily install viper on Pure nexus 6.0.1 ROM.
Normally its flash the zip install busybox and set kernel to permissive .I dont know where the latest link is to just plain old viper without this Dolby stuff .

To be fair, the thread is a bit daunting. I admit I have visited the thread on multiple occasions intending to install it only to back off because I simply don't have the time to do all the research I feel is necessary to install the right version. The only thing I really want is a basic vanilla install that might make my audio a bit louder and customizable, but after reading the first 2 posts a few times, I have no idea what option (or even version [4.7, 4.8, 5.5, etc)] would be best.

Click this and flash it in TWRP no kernel mod needed assuming you're using the PureNexus default SuperSU.
As of posting that is the most up to date version of vanilla Viper from this thread (Viper Audio app ver 2.4.0.1, zip ver. 5.4)
I personally like the Sony/Beats version because it tweaks the effect configs to sound better imo but to each his own. I do understand the not wanting Dolby though, yea you can use it to make your headphones louder without a DAC but kinda one of those too many cooks in the kitchen things.
Have discovered what. A custom ROM for the Huawei P8. Very stable, fast, many ... very many settings possible via K-settings, Root, Xposed and Viper4Android. Restart Menu (Normal Boot, Hot Reboot, Recovery Mode, Bootloader Mode)
No themes available for download for location .... China Rom. Own can be activated but.
Download: http://www.file-upload.net/download-11509701/P8_EMUI4.0_B356_Kangvip.zip.html 950MB
Almost excellent...
But, problem with contacts and Google accounts..
The two seem to be linked.
So you cant sync your google contacts?
Try flash gapps for marshmallow, however you forgot to write that media apps are in chinese and you can not change it, dialer app has chinese features and symbols in it which is annoying too
Damn, this looks good. If we could get google services working and fully English this would be perfect.
Where'd you find it by the way? There may be more hidden treasures around

Does fromFuture offer something special? Except deodexing
Just to give u guys some wee insight as been on both roms lately but currently stuck with fromFuture. That KangRom is awesomness and you can customize plenty of things. This being very close to BlissRoms or many others AOSP base. Chinese aps you can easily uninstall. Chinese text eg. in the dialer you can deactivate in local build.prop by changing the CN country to EN. There's a snazzy working tutorial on Mate 8 forums called Chinese text gone with Yellow Pages. The Rom is sweet. But without google contact sync it is bad and it makes no reason to me to be using it However I didn't try any MM Gapps package though. It's got busybox built in as well as init.d support plus xposed that works with HW themes. If you are gonna flash over the 321a update you will lose Huawei Swype keyboard and get the chinese version, playstore gone. U need to pull up all the aps and place them to microsd and then push them where needed upon having this kangmod installed. Another thing is that you need to reflash SuperUser as this rom comes with KingRoot.
The fromFuture Rom is deodexed, busybox built in, SuperUser built in and is light and fast with more ram available and if you do a full wipe in twrp and flash this it will eat around 1giga and something from internal sd. But it is still an entire stock rom with no additional features. But it doesn't require those tweaks I was talking about re. the KangRom.
Huawei dont let us decompile system apks so its very diffcult to build a custom rom.
It seems kingvip have very good contacts to huawei because he is the only person in the
world who can decompile huawei system files.
Right now im rebuild the kangvip rom to a european rom with googles services and NFC.
My last build booting fine and NFC is working.

Their lollipop version has a ton of stuff including xposed but that's already on XDA.
Their marshmallow seems pretty basic so far though:
Deodexed, Busybox, Init.d support and Call Recorder
EDIT: There's another Spanish forum and nobody is complaining about no google contacts sync on either the German android-hilfe.de thread and Spanish forum which is interesting. It isn't listed as a bug either.

I would be guessing that is because they flashed MM Gapps and it worked but I personally haven't tried that yet. However fromFuture Rom works like a charm and if you wanna go to KangVipRom you can even reflash over the fromFuture and it will work. I will give it a try again to see if reflashing Gapps will do any good.
BTW, this cusrom compatible for UL00?

It's likely because you have all your contacts in. But you will not be able to sync any new. I tried to flash open gapps. The phone booted but having black screen instead of launcher. At this stage I pass this KangVip

Hello!
I've debloated my stock ROM a while ago and I've stripped it to the bone. Now I need back the original LP 5.1.1 Home apk + any lib files if there are any, for theme development and I don't want to go back to reflashing stock rom, root process + debloating etc.
Could anyone please upload it here? I've searched it on the net, I found a few versions on apk mirror I think, but those were only apk clones, maybe maleware.
I've asked this also on the general forum but nobody answers
It's small things like this that makes me wonder why did I choose Sony and not Sammy or HTC. People on their forum are so much friendlier and helpful. On Sony forum there's only silence..
just download a stock rom andbpick it out of the .zip
1st: Wrong place for your question.
2nd: Apk Mirror NEVER provides malware.
3rd: Latest stock home-release.apk for Lollipop, compatible with Serajr's Xposed module is 9.0.A.0.9.
4th: Your link: https://mega.nz/#!QBdBnbrb!21sGXPP-9Ji5yVXMt9dXQPDCioi0fFf6XOvJqJ5rrZU
