Dear developers and forum members hope you are doing well. This is my first post on XDA. The topic i want to discuss is already discussed on different forums but i didn't get my answer.
I want to install stock firmware marshmallow 6.0 of moto xt1092 or xt1095 on moto xt1096 (Verizon). Please let me know is it possible? If yes then how to do it? What are the prerequisites? I live in Pakistan where networks are GSM, UMTS or LTE. CDMA is not required at all. Thank you all for helping in advance.

I think you'd be better off with a custom recovery, it's the most useful thing you can flash on your phone. After that you just have to install the zip provided by AGISCI the great in the thread "xt1095 flashable stock ROM"

Alright. How to install custom recovery?
I did it some months ago and I just flashed it via fastboot, but I've just looked up the TWRP thread and they suggest another method (which they explain on their website). Either way you'll have to use fastboot, but it's not hard to do. Check out the TWRP thread in Original Development

Hi yall.
I'd like my device to have the purest user experience possible. I've just uptaded my phone to Lollipop, and I'm looking after 2 features:
-google dialer and messenger app (found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/themes-apps/lollipop-google-dialer-messenger-t2940395)
- auto rotate on lock screen and home screen as well (I know it's just an option to toggle in the system)
These 2 things require root. However, I'd like to keep my warranty.
Do you think it's possible to root it, do these 2 things, and unroot it again (while obviously keeping the modifications)???
Thanks a lot,
Roumaru
Afaik, as of now there's no way to keep your warranty when rooting your phone. It can only be done by unlocking the bootloader first, which leads to an irreversible flag.
I'm sitting in the same boat.
Can you please explain how to root the moto g 2014 with lolipop 5.0.2 in germany ? can i just take the root tutorial for 4.4.4 or would it break my phone?

There is no way to unlock the bootloader and keep your warranty unless you bought it and live in the EU. EU regulations don't allow a loss of hardware warranty just because of software modifications.
Ok thanks

So in the EU, you're allowed to root it without loosing it? I didn't know that. Actually, I bought it in Switzerland so I don't know exactly i the same rules as the EU apply or not...

Beware with the boot loader. If I were you, I'd dig into google to find an answer, or wait till a relevant tutorial for Lollipop is released.

Just a very condensed version because there isn't any difference (except latest twrp is necessary):
1. Follow Motorola's instructions to unlock the bootlader.
2. Flash TWRP 2.8.5 with fastboot.
3. Flash latest SuperSU with TWRP.

could you describe or paste a link where i can find a guide to root the moto g 2014 germany with android 5.0.2 ? because i dont have a lot of knowledge of that things

Read this very carefully, at least twice from start to finish. Make sure to read the whole thread, not just the OP.
Then, if you think you understand everything, proceed at your own risk.
Rooting, bootloader unlocking, etc. is for advanced users only. You have to know what you're doing, else you're going to mess it up.
Just one thing regards the app you wanna...
Google dialer... The default dialer of android stock 5.0.2 is not google dialer?
I don't see the difference, if is different some one let me know.
If the priv-app is from android 5.x.x it may not work on android 4.4 or any under 5.x.x
Google messenger app, it can be installed via play
Be very careful in flash a dialer app, because one time I've done it (not that app from that thread) and I could not open the dialer app, or received call... I had to flash the rom again...
again... If the priv-app is from android 5.x.x it may not work on android 4.4 or any under 5.x.x..
the two applications of that thread are priv-app.

The final decision on that depends on your carrier. If there are multiple carriers there, it's possible that some have it and some don't.
can you do a undectable mobile hotspot on a rooted moto g (with metro pcs or sprint) ?

Hi.
So I bought this xt1097 AT&T branded.
I would like to keep only one feature from T-Mobile and it's WiFi calling. Rest of the phone can be stock Motorola.
Is it possible to flash any ROM that would have T-Mobile WiFi calling?
Oh the phone is 5.1 already.

I was under the impression that the moto x 2014 does not have wifi calling. Which means that flashing another rom won't give you it either.

I didn't look if all android phones have it.
I guess that I'll pack it too when traveling to Canadia aye.

One more thing. Sine I can't really navigate this forum and also don't know what I should be looking for. Can someone out of their kindness from their heart point me to directions on how to root the xt1097 with 5.1android?
I found so far confusing info as to that 5.1 can't be rooted.

In theory, you should be able to flash twrp on your device and flash the latest supersu zip. I haven't tried this so I cannot tell if it would work or not. Anyways here is the link for twrp: https://twrp.me/devices/motorolamotox2014.html and for supersu: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/

I had xt1096. Flashed through twrp stock 6.0 xt1095 from the android development section and it converted my phone to xt1095 automatically.
I am on GSM technology and everything works fine about 2 weeks by now.
Just make sure you have root and twrp and you're good.

No problam man.
I don't know... I won't want to return to xt1096 verizon's stock.
On 5.1 verizon, antutu benchmark gave 36k while right now on stock 6.0 xt1095 I get 55k.
But I believe that flashing the stock xt1096 5.1 will solve your problem.
i had 47k on stock verizon
....
Mine gave over 63k running Verizon's stock ROM 5.1.1

Hi!, so I purchased an XT1096 on eBay that's coming today so my questions are:
1. How I can unlock the bootloader?
2. Can I flash any rom any rom from other variants? (Like XT1093, 95) [I don't use Verizon so I don't really care if I lost the CDMA signal]
3. Can I use other variants firmware or just the Verizon one?
Thanks!

The bootloader is easy. You can do it on the Motorola site (google the topic for specific directions). Then download and flash twrp recovery. I've been running Cyanogen for the most part. I wouldn't bother with other stock roms. Lineage will be out in a few weeks. There is also a Lineage build on 12-29 that is out there. I am running it now.

Motorola and Verizon have stated that they will not update the XT1096 to MM or 6.x so there is no "official" Marshmallow firmware from Motorola for this phone.
You can find an 99% stock MM ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1096-verizon-flashable-stock-rom-t3327345. Please read the full thread and ask questions there about this ROM. Some people - including me - are using it as their daily driver with little to no issues. This ROM has all the Motorola apps (Voice, Display, etc.) working as expected from a stock ROM.
Another option CM13. Read this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development/rom-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580/post65781867#post65781867. CM13 works on the XT1096 and other CM13-based ROMs should work but you will need to verify by reading their threads. Please be sure to read the full thread and ask questions there about CM13 or in the other threads related to other ROMs.
This is assuming that you are on the Verizon network and want to keep CDMA functionality. If you are using this phone on a GSM network and do not care to keep the CDMA access then you might want to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693
All of the options above require that you have an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked please go here to learn about unlocking it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/motorola-unlocking-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3291104
Please read and learn as much as you can. Most - if not all - of your questions will be answered by reading through the threads listed.
XT1085
Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the moto X 2nd generation bought in china (XT1085) running android 5.0.2.
I would like to get rid of the retcn version of the system because I don't speak chinese for a retEU or retUS and install android 6 MM. Is it possible?
My phone is rooted and TWRP recovery installed
I tried to install this version : Version 6, because one guy wrote on the topic that it worked on TX1085 but it failed for me, and my phone stayed on the Motorola launching screen.
So now I'm back with the factory setup and would like to now how to install android 6.0?
Thanks
