Soft Brick without volumen button - Moto X Q&A

Let me explain firstly... I was in 5.1 and flashed a bad zip with TWRP, and i get a failed message in the screen... I thought nothing wrong would happened and restart phone... The point is i got infinite bootloop (phone stuck in first animation, vibration and then restart, and all again till the phone exhauste the battery)...
The situation is my volume button is broken and cant enter to fastboot mode. When i plug the phone in my computer, is recognize for few seconds till gets restart again. The question, is there any option to get in fastboot mode using linux or something like that? It would be great. :crying:

Had this same issue this weekend. Had a xt1060 dev ed with down volume broke. You need to replace the buttons on the frame (seen on eBay for 5$-13$). I ended up throwing the main board into another phone I had laying around rather than replace the buttons alone. EBay is your friend. I tried shorting pins on the connection where the button
ribbon cable plugs into, but without an actual pin out, I only managed to get the power button to work.

But is a way to give life back to my motorola? When i plug to charger it turn on and vibrate and restart..... and over again, till it loses all the battery

like i said, there is but it involves replacing the ribbon cable underneath the buttons, that is glued to the metal frame. it will cost between 5-15$ to buy the parts, and its pretty simple.

[Q] xt860 won't start (screen turns on, but with weird noisy stuff)

My brother has a milestone 3 xt860, and yesterday he came to me, and said that his phone stopped working, this is what happens when you try to start it up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xt9UVdqlqbQ
I tried going into recovery mode by pressing X button + power button, but happens exactly the same thing as in this video...
I also tried plugging it on the by USB into my PC, it was off when I plugged, the screen turned on the same way, the brightness changed 2 times, and it's stuck this way, my PC don't recognize anything, tried plugging and unplugging it while turned on, nothing happens...
I never saw anything like this, does anyone knows what could cause this, and is there a way to fix?
Most likely a bad flex cable, can be replaced, kind of a pain though.
Can find a new one on ebay, should be a link to take apart instuctions in my list. sd_shadow's [Collection] of Links for: Droid 3 (XT862)

Some times you can find a sweet spot, and get the screen to work.
By sliding keyboard open, and powering on, but depends on how bad the cable is.

Thanks, it seems to be the cable indeed...
sadly I don't have any of the tools needed to take apart >_< but thanks anyway

[Q] Completely dead droid 3 (XT860)

Hello, I got this phone bricked after a flashing atempt with some ****ty battery. Got a new one, but the phone won't turn on at all, won't charge, nor white led indicator while pluged in the charger. The led does turn on when I plug the cellphone on the pc holding the power button, and the pc tries to recognize the device, on a loop of "device connected/disconnected" sounds done by windows. I made a factory cable, but I don't know if I have to install any drivers on the pc in order for it to work. Any thoughts?

Not at all. The phone is basically dead, except for when I plug it into the pc, ad it tries to recognize it, without sucess.

If there is nothing on the screen, likely a bad flex cable or LCD.

the PC connect/disconnect is likely a bootloop.
could try flashing, but it must be in AP fastboot mode
easiest way to get to AP fastboot mode, power off device, hold volume down, press power for 5-6 sec, release power, then release volume down.

I threw my Mi A2 against a wall

It was in a moment of anger no judging please
1) The screen is obviously destroyed and wont even turn on.
2) My computer doesnt recognize the phone.
3) If its plugged the phone blinks its notification light for like 5 minutes
4) if its unplugged it blinks only when I hold the power button. It also blinks once when I unplug it.
5) I dissamble the motherboard and it doesnt seem to be harmed.
The question is, do you think the phone is dead or should I replace the screen, all repair shops ask me the PIN number to give me a diagnostic, which is reasonable but I dont want to give on my privacy to fix a phone.
Thoughts?
Thanks a lot for reading!
have u tried to boot with power+vol up or power+vol down while connected to PC?

Check the battery flex. Maybe is unplugged. If you don't want to give the pin you should try to change the screen by yourself.

The battery flex is plugged, I tried unplugging it and plugging it in several times and nothing happend, yes I have no problem in changing the screen myself but I I think I have to fix something else before
Why you try to connect to PC? For saving your files?
Maybe u need to change screen first and then if there is any problem you will see it. İ think your problem should be in type c port

Fortunately I have backuped the files before breaking it

RIP A2 :crying:

Best place to start on Hard brick v40? Unresponsive everything.. Its dead to the wor.

It's completely unresponsive no LED lights no screen power button does nothing plugging it into charging cord does nothing laying it on a wireless charger does nothing just my extra phone I had laying around I was f****** around and was editing some of the partitions and binary ninja and I think I completely sucked it up. Does anyone know a good place to start maybe I can try and fix this
Hell yeah sound advice so far.. I agree, but I was only messing that deep cause I got 4 v40's. If interested in advice pm me
Are you sure you didn't inadvertently end up in 9008 loader mode, as described in the post to unlock your bootloader?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v40/how-to/unlock-lg-v40-via-9008-root-t-mobile-t4042207
It's easy to end up there when you wanted to end up in LAF stock recovery (download mode). The screen will go completely blank and the only thing that will bring it out is holding power + vol down for 5-10 seconds.
No its not I'm sure.. I've done everything, every button combo and let it sit for days.. It won't even respond to charging cable.. Any ideas

if you can take apart your phone, you could try shorting the EDL pins on the back of the mainboard and insert USB cable to check if you get the HS/QD Loader detected on your PC. You may try reflashing partitions if you succeed.
I just sent it to asurion.. They had it back in 2 days and they are covered under sprint insurance
