Hi folks
I searched high and low, but I could not find the answer on one simple question: how to disable the sound that is produced when I plug the charging cable into the phone. It is especially annoying in the middle of the night when there are sleeping people around me. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thank you

For sure if you are rooted. If not I don't think you can do it.

If you put the phone in silent/vibrate, you won't get the sound.
Thanks! Silent/vibrate really disables it. So there is no way to disable just THAT sound, right?
As previously mentioned, if you are rooted, simply delete System/media/audio/ui/PowerConnected.ogg or if you want to keep the file (just in case) rename it to PowerConnected.bak
Either should work.

I renamed PowerConnected.ogg and the phone just played another sound when plugged. So I had to search for a silent ogg file and replace the original with it.
This solution went horribly wrong for me.
So, I know it's been almost a year since anyone's replied to this post, but I've run into some trouble trying this. I downloaded a silent ogg file (and checked it). I deleted the power connected.ogg file, and then renamed the silent file. But instead of hearing nothing when I plug in the charger, my phone now plays the ringtone. Which is a song, so now I have to listen to the full 3.5 minutes of the song ever time I charge my phone. I don't understand where I went wrong, there are no spelling mistakes in the file name so why isn't my phone playing the silence?
Thanks
So, did anyone solve this issue without rooting?

Well try "Seer (Silence Notifications)" it have silence charging sound in settings.
I solved it
@maanmeisje2
I solved this by changing the permissions of the renamed silence.ogg
The permissions should be
-rw-r--r--

A search of "volume on Kaiser" returned MANY results - this one MAY be of interest?

Try a search yourself and see if you can find what you are looking for?

Sure - please tell us specifically each of the things that you tried -
What cab files did you download and install?
What procedures did you work with. What was the results of each.
In order for any physician to treat you there must be a differential diagnosis and rule out of diagnosis.
The only way for that to happen here is for you to:
1. specifically indicate where your volume is low - can you hear people talking to you on the phone, can they hear you,
2. are your rings low
3. are your other notifications also low
4. do yu play MP3s and are they low?
5. what of all your signals are low
6. what ROM are you using?
7. what radio are you using?
8. then specifically indicate what you have done to mitigate these problems and what was spefically the result of each endeavor?
Thanks
Bill
Hello all,
Coming from an old instinct sprint phone, I used to love setting custom ringtone song clips as my text ringer, and when they'd come in i'd just hit the side button to silence it. Now, on the Android I can't seem to do that? Is there any work around for this? It allows me to silence a call coming in, but not for a text message. Thanks for anyone's help!!
It should silence text as well, mine does.
Hm..
weird.
Hmm...you know...when i first got the phone i was pretty sure i did it when i tested ringtones. Quick question though...I flashed to Cynagen's rom bout a month ago, 1.6 firmware. does that have anything to do w/ it?
just slide down the notificatin bar!

Lol ya i do that already, but for example when i'm holding my son's hand through the toy isle (we've all been through something similiar!) i can't turn my screen on and do that, i'd simply like to hit that side volume button to shut it up. Any programs or tweaks that can help solve this?
still looking for help...
aaah its driving me crazy, it seems like no one else has this issue?
im not really sure no more but i think mine silenced it with he back button even if the screen was off or maybe it was the side button but i cant try no more since my phone is dead now but try it not really sure
Change the mp3 used as a ring tone, maybe that will fix it? Puzzled myself.. good luck

T-Mobile is offering the myTouch3G for 99.99 without rebates. Only requires 2 years agreement on Even More plans or 399.99 on EvenMore Plus plans (Probably not the best deal but if you want one brand spanking new). Might wana try this if you dont care about a physical keyboard, pretty sure Cyanogen works with it.. Valid on Black, Merlot or White

You can try this here.
You can also manually set the volume by placing htc_hw.call_vol=5 in the cmdline section of your Startup.txt or default.txt. You will need the newest kernel (Aug 2nd) and this will set you call volume to high all the time (can't adjust it), but it makes it much louder.
You can use any value between 0-5 for this setting if 5 is too loud for you.
Hey all,
So here's what i did. I've been running perception 9.5 for a long time now with no issues until today.
I went to change my ringtone and i was selecting different ones to hear, then all of a sudden everything went quiet. I plugged the phone into the computer and the sound came back for a bit but then it went away after i tried to change the ringtone again.
Now i flashed serendipity 3.0, thinking that maybe perception borked on me, yet i still have no sound.
Any help would be great =)
Try pulling the battery cover and pressing firmly on the speaker when it occurs.. If it fixes it your speaker is coming loose at connection.

Thanks soo much for the reply =)
I did what you said, both when i knew there was no sound and when i set an alarm. I'm not quite sure if the alarm is what retriggered the sound, or if it was pressing the speaker but my sound appears to work again =)
Thanks so much!

It's a hardware problem, so I think the best fix would be to exchange it for a new one through your local AT&T store or an AT&T warranty center.
Sorry to keep brining this up.
It seems like my sound only cuts out when sound is being played (naturally). But if i press the app draw icon to make that little pop noise over and over, the sound doesn't seem to cut out. If i talk on the phone, or play a ringtone it does.
Maybe it's software for me?
Could be. You try rebooting yet? Other than that I guess the only way to know would be reflash the rom or go back to stock and test.

Hello,
Both the earpiece and the other speaker suddenly stopped working on my nexus 6. I am suspecting it is a hardware issue since I performed a hard reset but the issue still persists. The odd thing is that both the earpiece and the speaker are affected at the same time. Are they connected to each other?
Is there any way I can make sure that this is indeed a hardware issue before cracking open the phone?
Thanks

Hello had the same bug super user app libs was away no root from here to now did nothing.reflashed super su, without super user app like supersu or magisk it dont work for me. hope i can help.

Before I opened the phone, I'd boot to safe mode and see if things work. If they do, reboot and see if the problem comes back. Booting into safe mode disables all unnecessary apps, clears caches and resets settings to default. Sometimes that resolves your problem and on reboot things are working again.

So I guess it sounds like hardware. You might take s close look and see if there is damage/dirt in the jack making the device think the headphones are connected. The pin is easily bent and wears so it's probably just that. ifixit has a repair guide.
Alternatively, you might consider Bluetooth headphones [emoji4]

Thanks. I don't think it's the jack issue because I installed an app that shows a headphone icon in the status bar when a headphone is plugged in and it doesn't show it when nothing is connected.
Do you know why both speakers ceased functioning at the same time AND if there is a way for me to direct audio to only one of them, either the earpiece or the speaker, to see if one or both
are dead?
wow. I reverted back to an earlier build from Feb and now it's working. Very interesting.

First, sorry to hear about your problem. But, I am actually happy to see this up at xda. Tell you why. I purchased a uesd nexus 6 from a seller on ebay. Description was everythings works. Pics showed it was in excellent condition.
Problem was when it arrived. I discovered the top speaker was trash. Total robot like voice. Of course seller denied any knowledge of it. My option was to return it to him. But judging from the way he spoke to me. I could tell it was going to be a fight. There is no way he did not know about this. I wound up eating the phone and am currently awaiting a new top speaker. So, please dont forget to ask about speakers if buying used. My concern was body and screen. I never thought to ask about speakers and I never thought there would be crooks like him. Wrong...

It is interesting. Is it possible you had a mismatch between kernel and security updates? "Newer" kernel on "older" ROM? Or vice versa. The difference doesn't have to be more than one has a security update that the other didn't.

More like mismatched or corrupted libs or drivers
Know this is an older thread, but just figured I'd post what I found regarding a similar issue I had. My phone basically took a 3 second dunk in the sink. Everything seemed fine the first hour or two, then the speakers stopped working. However, it seems like the speakers failing is some kind of water damage failsafe or something. The solution is just to turn your phone off and on around 5 times (I can't remember the exact number, but once or twice won't cut it), and you will have the speakers return to normal. Not sure if the OP had the same issue, but just an idea in case something similar happens to others.
Bumping an old thread but I had this same issue and had to flash back to previous builds. I stopped updating my phone around Jan/Feb. Tried to update to the Aug 7.1.1 build and the same thing happened again. I didn't try the turn on and off 5+ times, I'm just once again restoring my Jan/Feb build.
Can anyone else confirm this "fix" or has this same problem?
I'd boot to safe mode first. If it works then, it has something to do with an app, your app restore process or something like that.
