I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find a waterproof & rugged case for the note 2. the Otterbox defender seems to be the closest thing to what I want but it's not waterproof/water resistant. My main purpose for the case is to use the note 2 as a handheld GPS device when I go on hiking/backpacking.
Does anyone know if there is such a case exist or anything similar coming into market?
Start harassing Seidio to make a note 2 version of their OBEX case that they are releasing for iPhone5. This case seems to be close to the end-all for rugged cases.

Might email and ask Otterbox as well, they are making a waterproof case for s3, iphone4/5; new series called armor.

I almost bought the S3 because that case was available. Before fishing season starts I hope I have a waterproof case. Even if only 10-15ft (although long duration would be ideal.)

It's not a waterproof case, per se, but it might be a good option until one becomes available on the market.

oh well, I guess there is no such case atm. I'm just going to wait then. if it's really needed, I'll just get the Defender with some plastic food wrap. I really just need it to be splash/rain proof, not planning to swim with it and such...
cdnmaplechick, yea I've seen it and it seems to be nothing more than just a plastic bag and offer no protection at all. While ideally I want the case to be waterproof, ruggedness is still more important than waterproof.

what about "liquipel?" they coat your phone with a special agent of theirs that protect it from water. google will tell more but its something ive come accrossed just reading tech articles.
If you have the note 2 already use a ziplock bag .... and a bluetooth headset. Isn't the whole point of fishing to be outdoors away from cell phone towers? I bet after fishing season a case should be out. Accessory makers should have cases out sooner since most phones almost always are announced a month or two ahead of time. Im still waiting on seidio extended battery convert case for this phone.
yes but when I am in the outdoors I want to take pictures shoot video txt my group I am with if nearby run gps tracking mapping navigation software. run ramp finder run charts when on the water play pandora or listen to an audio book etc.. etc. etc..
people seem to forget. I don't carry a phone. I carry a powerful portable hand held computer with me and oh by the way it happens to have a phone somewhere in there if i need it
I got this case for my S3
http://dx.com/p/protective-waterproof-case-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300-black-176052
I will be sure to post pics/review when I get it.
I hope they end up making one for my Note II as well.
as a "go between" till nice stuff comes out I also got this for my Note II
http://dx.com/p/bike-protective-wat...-samsung-galaxy-note-i9220-n7100-black-175949
it says water proof I would take that to mean splash resistant. IE don't go submerging it but if it rains on it or something your "probably" ok.
I hope my Note II fits inside without having to remove it from my cases.
Liquipel is very cool but at almost $100 including shipping & insurance, the price is too high for my occasional need just to add waterproof protection. I only paid $450 for my phone new without contract. Not to mention I need to send in the phone and wait for about week for the turnaround.
Maybe it'll tempt me more if it's available somewhere I can get it done locally in few hours...

Am I missing something or is liquipel not even available for this phone? Also if you look on youtube there are plenty if reviews showing it failing..

Liquipel is available for Note I, so I just assumed with the note 2 it'll probably also work if I ask them, as I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't be able to coat a very similar phone in terms of physical design. But you're right, it's not officially on their list and it might not even be available for the note 2.
and they won't water proof guarentee ANY level of water protection anymore. leads me to believe they have issues with their process. you don't see them running phones underwater anymore.

Slight peace of mind is suppose. I think they stopped because some people's iphone and such weren't protected and were damaged by water after the treatment. And I know if I had this done to my phone is never hesitate to get it wet im sure many are that way

thats my point ie whats the point. especially considering how expensive it is.
I would give it a liquipel treatment and then slap on an Otterbox Defender case. Liquipel applies a nanocoating to your device making it water resistant, see here: http://www.liquipel.com/

They make cameras that can take pictures under water that are now cheap. With your portable computer (smartphone) becoming more powerful it needs vents in it to let the heat out. There's trade offs when you add a lot of features to a single device that a specialized device doesn't run into.

Indistructable screen protector? Nice!
But at just .25 mm thick I'd be more interested in how it stands up to SPen use.

The problem in the past with these super strong protectors tends to be that they are soft and using the s-pen will leave grooves. Would like to hear about that.
The N2 is considered as a tablet, including shipping, the total cost is $31, $33 for Canadians. We might as well purchase full warranty on it.

My point exactly.. screen protectors that work so well for othwr devices don't work that well for the Note II due to the SPen.
I used a sheild that I have used with everyone of my devices over the past couple of years. They worked great and I loved them... that is until I bought them for my Note II. The grooves that the SPen left on the screen jusy drove me crazy.

I would read carefully between the lines of such warranty. Typically phone replacement claims are offered under a "normal" use, and trust me they will come up with any excuse to prove you were using your phone outside of their "normal" use guidelines. This is not a warranty from SquareTrade, Best Buy, or whoever else you bought your phone. Take for instance such reputable company as Otterbox. I called them up complaining about screen protector which is a known design flow, they created a case and told me the processing under warranty replacement will start after I send them a picture of front and back of the case with a piece of paper next to it stating my name and date. Furthermore, they wanted a picture of the defect, and since it was not visible on the picture I had to make a short lo-fi video clip explaining what's going on. I ended up just returning that Defender case back, but if this would have been outside of my 14 day replacement window - I wouldn't be surprised if they would come back to me "its a normal expected behavior". The point, always take these miracle warranty claims with a grain of salt

Speaking about Otterbox I bought a case from a 3rd seller through Amazon.de that was defective (the inner silicon) and after contacting them and sending them the requested photos they agreed immediately to send me a new case as part of the 1 year warranty. Please note that I live in Greece and they cover everything. I have to say I am extremely happy with Otterbox.
They have videos of people break dancing with the phone tied to their ankle covered in the screen protector.
The phone gets damaged, but the screen is perfect.
I'll take it no one wants to try this product and write a review?

I recently bought Armor Guard for my iPhone and iPad - it's AWESOME! I haven't had a major drop yet but the occasional time my phone dropped nothing happened. The warranty is unheard of and it's legit. I checked their Facebook page and someone posted about it.

Never had problems with otterbox warranty. They replaced my two cases immediately after the pics were sent. I even mentioned that the defect was that it didn't come with a sp so I cant take picture of what is not there. I just wanted the sp they sent me two complete replacement product
On there site it says Read our full Limited warranty for Details.. Well one small detail. There is NO Posted warranty
On there FAQ.. Question is . what if my phone or device cant be repaired .
Answer:We will replace it with a LIKE Device.
A warranty like this got me once on a tv. they can give you anything with similar specs. Does not have to be exact specs.
But if the above is not really a issue but just me being paranoid its a good deal. If this were not a soft material protector .
What do you think.. Anyone find there full warranty details please post..
If someone who bought this product could comment on the warranty, since they state that the warranty details are included with the order (I dunno why they don't just post them on their site unless they don't want the masses reading it before they purchase... Might be shady).

It is significant for those of us that use the battery.

I'm not sure everyone will agree with you
For me the weight is a non issue as ive been able to lift a half a pound since i was a baby and would have expected more people to be able to do the same. All the nonsense of thinner and lighter blows my mind
Cant wait till the extra protection gets here. Been waiting on this case for almost 6 months

If the regular battery and a case lasts the entire day why would you add the extra weight and potential extra damage if dropped?
With the rugged case I'm sure I'll be using it more with the extra protection as I wasn't impressed with the stock case and it's finish fading.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4
Thats just it, if you actually use your phone you can drain the battery easily in 4 hours. I have at least 10 apps i can only use while at home after work because they WILL drain the battery rediculously fast. Now on the flip side if its a really busy day at work and i have data and such turned off i can have 90% left when i get home. But thats only if i dont use it.
The dropping it with the extra weight part doesnt concern me as im fairly careful with a $700 device

It seems like they've tiptoed back again on this; at least, I haven't seen it for sale yet, and their website apparently has entirely different dates. This battery is great, but waiting for the rugged case has been an exercise in patience. The Note 3 is getting a rugged case apparently right off the bat, yet we've been sitting with the previous version waiting for just the case itself for months.

I would, but as I'm A: not married, and B: not a lesbian, I don't have a wife. :silly:
Also, I like my Note 2 just fine. About the only thing that interests me in the Note 3 is that the S-Pen works with the buttons. Otherwise, I plan on keeping this phone for another year, with the ZeroLemon battery; it would just be nice to not have to mod a damn case to give it more protection.

Extra weight? It's a few ounces. If you can lift a can of soda I'm assuming you can manage to lift your phone.
The finish isn't fading from my original zl case and I was one of the relatively early adopters.
As for drop protection, my phone survived flying out of my car and didn't get a scratch.

Oh don't worry, very soon he will be rocking 10000 mAh ZL battery for N3, and a rugged case. I have a feeling everybody is going to get their rugged case before Note 2. I was joking before saying it would be funny to have release of N2 rugged case on November 1st to celebrate one year release of Note 2. Right now it's starting to look like a reality lol!!!
Btw, still no rugged case here... Do you guys realize that a first time I mentioned about rugged case (from ZL guys) was probably around early June time? That's 5 months of waiting for something that might... but anyway, I'm not making any judgment based on other comments or s3 pictures. Let's wait and see if I ever going to get it in my hands for review before the actual amazon availability. At this point it doesn't look like anything groundbreaking except for removable backplate to support different battery sizes and modded Defender mold.
It was actually in your first pafe of review in April

Love Mei is closest you'll get. I don't think we'll see a fully submersible case. HTC just don't sell enough handsets for those specialised case manufacturers to warrant spending time and money on sadly

Are there any waterproof/ water resistant cases yet for the oneplus 3? I enjoy the outdoors and sometimes there are situations in which a waterproof/ water resistant case might seem handy. preferably, a rugged case with water protection. I see plenty of rugged cases, which is fine, but if there's one that also provides water protection, it'd be great. there seemed to be a few for past phones I've owned, but I have yet to come across any for the oneplus 3. if you know of any, please lead me in the right direction.
I am also interested in this. All my searches led to nowhere unfortunately.
Same here... I'm using the Otterbox right now. I think protection is okay but as said no waterproofing.
I would love to see a case like the Otterbox defender but with waterproofing, that would be prefect.

I bought a ziplock-style waterproof bag/case for a trip to Hawaii, but as soon as I put my phone into the case it wouldn't turn on. The proximity sensor was detecting the clear vinyl and disabled the screen! I thought it was the case's fault and returned it.
Fast forward a few days and now I am actually in Hawaii for the holidays and tried another similar case I found in a store at the mall. Same problem! I even tried a plain zip lock bag and had the same results. What gives?!
Is anyone successfully using a waterproof case with their oneplus 3? which one is it?
