rooted nexus 6p - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My nexus has root and i got the august security update , can i update or it will remove my root ?
thanks for your help !

wrong thread, this is the nexus 6

Regardless of thread. If you have a custom recovery... Definitely won't apply. Search the proper thread and you should be able to find a flashable way to get latest updates

[Q] Nexus One Rooted Update

Hello
I'm getting a prompt update for my Nexus one named (Android Update part 1 of 2) the details only saying that it's first of two-parts system update which is required to prepare the device for android software update.
My nexus one is rooted, running FRG83, so my question is.. should I install this update, or will it make me lose the root ??
Thanks
The general rule is that any OTA update is going to be non-rooted, and depending on your root procedure, that could be a problem.
That could be that your in luck and be one of the first few hundreds to have gingerbread

It's for frg83d. I'm sure it kills your your root

Trying to root Nexus 7. Toolkit 5.0, Lacks 4.3 support.

I'm trying to root my Nexus 7 (2012).
I have the Nexus 7 v5.0 toolkit.
It does not have my build version 4.3. The only way I can get an update is to donate? If not, how do I manually get the update that has 4.3 support?
Does anyone have this Version 5.2.8 ?
Thanks.
I am very confused by your post. If I interpret it correctly you are saying: There is a program that I would like to use, but I have to pay for it. Can anybody give it to me for free?
Why don't you read one of the great tutorials here in XDA and root your tablet manually. For that you will not need any toolkit and ... you are improving your knowledge.

WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.7.2 already supports Android 4.3. I have rooted with this tool.

Hi. I just got my nexus 7 v.4.3 and it tells me to system update. Should I just proceed, will I get more difficulty rooting etc. ?

It will not alter rooting via the easiest method - bootloader unlock (using fastboot manually or a toolkit).
But, the more time you invest in customizing your tablet, the more "painful" rooting will be, as unlocking the bootloader completely wipes all of your data and customizations.
good luck. read before you leap.
Do the OTA right now, go ahead and unlock while it's new and you haven't installed a bunch of stuff, then you can root any time when you're comfortable with it.

Now what??

I have successfully updated my Moto X to lollipop.. I was would like to root my phone now but I have a question..
If I root my phone now.. How will I get the future updates??
I have rooted my previous phones but there I could get updated roms with updated system version.. But here I don't see any roms..
Thanks in advance.

As long as you don't change any of the system files you will get the updates. If you flash other Roms you have to use their updates or flash back to stock to take the update.

Yes but CF will update his root tool and just fastboot boot again.

Galaxy S5- Can I Flash A ROM With TWRP Instead Of Flashfire?

Hello, i'm new in this forum and i haven't flashed so many roms before.
in this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
they use flashfire to install lollipop rooted rom into G870A devices.
but i have a problem, i followed the steps to receive flashfire beta on my device but i never got it, i asked in g+ page to someone to share me the apk containing flashfire beta (the version that is required to do this), but he said me i have to change the date of my phone to july 1st because the app does not open at all, and it is true, by changing the date i was able to open the app, but i;m not sure about using it because i thing it is not the right version and i thing i can damage my device.
Can i use twrp instead? or is it safe to use the apk he shared to me?
Thanks
Much to the dismay of almost everyone here Twrp will not work on our locked bootloader phone.
Give a read here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2969344

You havd at&t s5 active ,at&t locked the bootloader thats why we can't use custom recovery like twrp cwm . if u r in 4.4.2 kitkat i think u can use safestrap recovery..that process will install 5.0 rooted lollipop .i use the same process to update my att s5 to lollipop ..download the file flash through flasfire..

I just used the latest beta to flash from rooted 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 Of3 without issue.
