If your current one fits I'd go with the current one.

Use the new one. Just call them and activate it, i did that. Might as well you paid for it besides you will have to call to activate the note 7 and let them know your using your old sim. Call will end right after they switch the sim and activate it on the new device so either way same thing.

I just put in the old card and turned the phone on and it's done
I heard new cards contain more stuff, so it's best to use the latest and greatest, just pop it in and dial 611, it switched in less than 5 minutes.

Yeah you don't have to activate the phone just the SIMS card. I'm using the same SIMs card on my Note 4 Note 5 and Note 7... just have to add the little adapter to put it back in the Note 4 to make it bigger

Sim card from my Note 4 didn't fit in the Note 7. Too big and couldn't be made any smaller. Had it since the Note 2 I believe.

I have a gnex with unlimited data, and just bought a Dev edition and I want to keep my unlimited data. So if I use verizons website and go to activate or switch device, will I be able to keep my unlimited data?
I just don't want to f*ck up when I use the website
Has anyone used the website to do this, and did it work?

If you're just switching devices you should be able to do it without losing your data plan. I did it many times when I was using VZW. However, you shouldn't need the web site if your phones are LTE. Just move the SIM to the new phone.

GNex uses Micro Sim while Moto X uses nano, so OP needs to cut the micro Sim or go get a nano Sim.

When i ordered the phone it said sim card included
I don't want to cut the card in case the Moto x ever breaks or whatever, so I can have a backup phone
So I guess I'll give the website a try

Website works fine, or just go into Verizon and tell them you want to change your phone. Did it at a store when I purchased my old Gnex off someone.
I switched mine on the Verizon website in about 2 minutes. You will need to use the SIM tool so you can pop your new nano-SIM out of your phone and read the number off it.
Unlimited data stays.
I got a new phone and I want to set my note 3 up for my nephew. He currently has an lg nitro. Can I just out his SIM card in the phone and boot it up? Or do I have to take it to an AT&T store and have them change his number to the new phone?

I'm not familiar with the Nitro but if it a 4G lte phone and takes the same size sim you can just pop it in and go.
It is a 4g let and I believe it has a microsim

Ok, I had activated a new nano sim card on my old phone using an adapter. I received my Nexus 6 and it recognized it last week and have been using it ever since .
Today I try to use a straight talk sim card and it worked.
However, i reinserted the VZW card and now won't be recognized. I see there is a ton of APN settings for VZW. Which one is it?
I have a feeling this phone won't play nice if you keep switching different carrier SIM cards.

I had an APN setting question too and according to most,
VZW automatically sets up your APN Settings and the
option to change them goes away. My N6 on VZW
doesnt show any APN settings...

You're going to have to factory reset. I had the same issue, and that was the only way to fix it.
Apparently, you can switch from Verizon/Sprint to a GSM-carrier, but if you switch back--you can't get signal without performing a factory reset.

I just now discovered that before I saw your post. Yes, factory reset did the trick but annoying. Fortunately. I had a barebones vzw backup to restore Wow ! Many idiosyncrasies with this phone.
You can restore a backup if it had the vzw sim originally and it works.

This happened to mine. I went from AT&T to Verizon. I had tons of APN settings then one day one a reboot I could not connect to a network at all. I had to completely reset my phone using the recovery images or system files, whatever you want to call, then do a factory reset from inside the phone. Now it works no issues and I have no APN's to choose from.
I'm having issues getting my phone activated with Verizon, even with what I'm told is an already active nano sim. My phone tells me that it has no sim card on the lockscreen, and the sim info app shows nothing for the sim serial. I'm starting to wonder if my sim slot is just bad. I have done a factory reset to no avail
TLR Can someone that has a spare inactive nano sim pop it into their Nexus 6 and tell me it still shows that no sim is installed on the lockscreen?
Have to ask this question......is you sim in right??? Gold side up.

I bought a tmobile nexus 6 for my GF who is on verizon. She put her sim from her moto X into the nexus and it worked. Do not remember if it said no sim detected but i do remember her using it with the signal bar being greyed out most of the time.

Yep gold side up
So I got my Nexus 6 in the mail today. I got it from lease2owngadgets.com. its brand new unlocked. I went to the store today to get a nano Sim card. I couldn't get it.
She first tried to add the ESN to my acct. .. Not found.
Then she tried to add the nano Sim to my note 3. Would not allow her to do it. Since the note 3 take a micro Sim. Is there any way around this?
Or is Verizon that strict ...please help

The way I and many others have done it, is to have them activate a sim on either a in-store phone or one of their returns. Once activated on your account it can be put in the Nexus and everything will work. Thats the only way, or you can get a nano to micro sim card adapter for your note 3 and do it that way.

Don't see why it wouldn't, that's what they're made for. Probably easier to just let Verizon do the activation in store, if they aren't willing to do it, try a different person or store.
From what i've read this is the best one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009H6WIRQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you already have a micro sim, activate it in the Note, then cut it down to nano size

I've cut sims down before. Not specifically a verizon one. I have a cut down sim in my phone right now.
I did it for two nexus but I also had a nano to place on top and cut around. Might want to look into a cutter from Amazon but if you dont want to wait I guess print on a paper template?

I definitely recommend a dedicated cutter. You can usually get one with all manor of adapters for a dollar or two
