Battery problem solved - by replacing battery. - LG G Watch R

Hi,
I've tried fixing my LG G Watch R for some time now and I even thought I've solved "the problem" at one point.
But after several attempts of trying to flash a "this will fix it"-firmware, I ended up buying a new battery. And with my old battery my best battery life was about an hour and a half, with this new battery and no new firmware, it is still M1D63G I now how about 1 and a half days of battery life.
So... I don't want to kill any dreams of fixing the LG G Watch R trough software or any other forms of "voodoo magic", but I think a new battery is the only way to solve this.

Thanks for the feedback and the interesting info.

I'm also facing issues and I narrowed it down to the battery. My watch won't go past the Android Wear screen without shutting off. I've ordered a replacement battery from FoneJoy at it should be here tomorrow. Pricey but seems to be my only option.
I'll keep you posted on if it did the trick.

I was a bit worried that the new battery wouldn't fix the problem - and that I would end up throwing £20 into the trash bin. But after the battery replacement, it feels like a brand new watch. The battery life is even better than I remembered.

I wish I paid the much. I had to pay $50+ because I live in the US. The package finally arrived! I'm stoked. I should be home in about 30 minutes. Hopefully it's the battery and not the motherboard.
Did you have to charge the battery for awhile or was it at least halfway charged?

Mine was halfway charged, but worked well. Solved my problem of 3 to 5 hour battery life from full charge. Back to great!

As sjancura wrote, the battery should work out of the box. But it needs charging to really shine.
Spareslg also has the battery in stock. Don't know how their shipping prices are compared to fonejoy.

This watch is really killing me. I put the brand new battery from FoneJoy in and it works a little longer than it did before but shortly after I remove it from the cradle it shuts off. Smh.
I heard of this watch having a temperature sensor and I'm wondering if it's built in to the motherboard, if so has anyone found a way to disable it? This is pissing me off.

Really?
Does your watch suddenly shutdown when taken off the cradle or it displays the "Shutting down..." alert then shutsdown?
Makes me really worried, I too just spent $50 aud on a g watch r battery and I really hope I can fix my g watch r so its not a paper weight anymore...

Disappointing. After I changed to my spareslg battery I haven't had a single shutdown and my battery life is awesome.
Also I've changed to a 500mA charger. The LG charger delivered with the watch is 800mA and even that is a a bit much for a 410mAh battery.

The watch works 100% whenever I put it in the freezer but as soon as it starts warming up it shuts down. I downloaded the "systems info" app and the temperature sensor thinks the watch is overheating so it dies right after.
Soon as I repeat the steps of putting the watch in the freezer for 30 seconds it works perfectly fine again. I'm upset because I'm already $70+ deep into it. $50+ for the battery and $20 for the tools to open the watch.
Now I keep lurking on eBay and Craigslist hoping I find a broken screen Urbane since the Urbane's motherboard is said to work for our watch.

I agree ... I spent a week trying everything to get Android to re-set its battery levels and eventually decided to just try replacing the battery. Before I did this, turning on wifi or selecting various third party watches just killed the watch on the spot. Now every thing is working and I get about 1 1/2 days average battery life. Here's a screenshot to show how it is now:

Sharing bout cheaper battery alternatives.

Hi all. Please don't flame me ya but I just cant help sharing this info. I've bought a new battery for my hd2 and so far its holding on pretty good. For me, it was better than my current original batt (which has 7 mths in it). Bought over here. send it to me within 2 weeks or less (from hk to sg)
Best thing was, it was to my affordability. At USD $4.80 free shipping, i think its a steal.

err...its true...cos i am currently using it.
Oh ya. its USD 4.80.
lol.. as in is it the same battery that comes with the pacakage when we buy the phone?
yeah. It looks the same. Fits the same too. Had it next to my original battery. Now i couldnt figure out which is which. Haha.
so its the exact same as the battery that came with the phone? i'll hang around and see if any1else buys it before i decide.. the battery might be cheap, but the phone isnt.. dun wanna end up with an exploding phone lol..
sure. Hope it does help.
Dont Knock It
I bought a 'cheap' battery as a back up, new from ebay even as HTC printed on the battery, £3.39 free P&P, Thought it would be ok to use just while im away on hols, tried it out and its brill and im sure its lasting longer, after a day at work original battery about 48% new one 55%, thinking about getting another at this price dont care if its ' only as good as the original'
My battery is the same, but not charging with the original charger and placing in the phone is difficult. Charging it with additional purchased desktop charger. Otherwise the battery life is good.

do u have problem charging battery with phone when it gets down to 20% or 30% left? I have one cheap spare battery (bought on ebay). It gives me a orange or green flashing led when charging (at below 50% level). When orange or green led is flashing in charging, which means that it doesn't charge at all. Hope fully the one u recommend is not like the one i have. Please let me know the result. Thanks.

Hi, Mine was flashed green and orange when using spare battery and charging from PC, noticed I was'nt using the supplied HTC usb cable, swapped cable and flashing stopped.
Also bought a desktop cradle with extra slot for charging spare battery, now leave phone on in cradle and use it as an alarm clock while its charging.

Im using
http://www.spider-foot.com/touch-hd2-leo-c-6_118.html
and the batteries that came with is the same - same sn numbers and same pn number. Its amazing ! I think its a little bit better then the orginal battery. worth a try ! I love them, got 4 " fake " batteries and everyone works like bom chiki wawa
Been using a 1300mah for 2wks ,from: mymobilebits.co.uk/aa-htc-hd2-battery-genuine.html
even tho, its not 1350 as the website states, it has been a slight improvement over the stock battery (around 15-20% more after a typical days usage).
Not bad for less than £6 in the uk!
I ordered one of thr cheap batteries (got it today).
It doesnt look exactly like the original, but just similar to the original (barcode and sn are smaller).
I got it charged to a bit more than 50 percent.
(Im using it now.)
The first thing I noticed was that the thermometer was (is) +10 degrees off.
This means that I might experience the flash green/orange thingie while charging.
Y I think I'll experience this you ask?
Well, I used the device with high power consumption (3g ingernet+gps+screen on+chargeing) with the original battery for a 3hour gps guided drive, and got this phenomenon after the device got hot (very? hot? too hot?)
So I guess the +10 degrees off thing might cause the problem.
(I hope I wouldnt experience this, though)
People who did experience this may check if their batt. thermometer is off.
(you can use the "battclock" app from one of the neoghbouring xda forums)
(I would be thankful if people who had the problem can post the test results of their batt. thermometer)
p.s. -- is there a way to calibrate the battery thermometer ??

hmm, 16 USD for 2 battery and a wall charger? sounds really good.. however, i'm wondering if the battery will start to decrease in charge capacity really fast?
I am using the Focalprice one for a few weeks now and it works just fine.
when I saw it (I was shopping for something else on their great site) I thought for that price I had to get it.
Even if it would only last for half an hour it would be a good backup.
I was positively surprised as it works just as well as the original.

Sadly (but-as expected) the battry cannot be charged in the device.
It can be (and was) charged in an external charger . . . but this is not a good solution for me . . .

My new Extended battery with stand!

Hey all,
Here are some pics of the new 2400mAh battery I got off eBay for $33 USD. Pretty sweet so far. Ran down to 1% battery after about 24 hrs, then ran another 18 hrs. I'm currently trying the "Battery Left" app to properly guage its life, as the built in monitor of the Streak allways thinks its the regular battery...
Its not the biggest extended battery for the Streak, but now I have it, and the original battery too, so I should be prepaired for any eventuallity.
Also the stand is pretty darn cool too. The whole thing makes is about twice as thick, tho. Not a problem for me, as I wear scrub pants to work with real loose pockets. Have not tried it with jeans yet...
My next move is to alter my Otterbox case to fit...

thanks for the photos, was thinking about getting this, but it looks to be about the same size as the mugen 4800 battery, and thats twice as powerful again. Think I'd sooner have that with it being the same size. I do like the stand though very nice idea.
I think the Mugen is twice the capacity , but about 4x the price. This was only $33. You could get several... plus, I figure I still have the stock battery so when this one dies I can pop that one in and get another good day of use...

yeah i'm just not one for carrying other batteries around, I just want one thats in all the time, to behonest I'm happy with the battery you get with, its lasts well over a day. yeah i know its a lot more expensive but probably get a week out of it which is amazing!!
A week would be awesome, but I get nervous if I don't charge it every night anyway...
Sent from my Streak using XDA app on StreakDroid 1.9
hey slaydog, please keep us informed about how many hours does the battery last. Maybe you can run some test to see if it holds its charge (like playing musics/video or browsing the net)?
Is the stand solid or fragile? Do you feel the streak more heavy with the battery on and most importantly, does the battery get warm a lot?
Just an update. New battery is working great! I still charge it every night, but I never worry about how much I use it during the day. I stream Sirius, play Podcasts, surf the web, YouTube etc... the stock battery meter sometimes shows the phone dead around noon, while my new battery meter when I plug it in at night still shows 60-75%
Does not get hot or make the streak feel heavier. It is bigger, though. I cut my Otterbox case to fit the new back and use the stand, so it looks like a tank! But the new cover is only a little thicker than the back of the case. Stand looks good and works good too. Very sturdy.
Using an app called Battery Monitor free, that shows actual batter %, the Battery Left app did not.
Anyway, certainly no regrets for $33!

Have you tried wiping the battery stats using StreakMod Recovery. It is on the advanced menu - pic here.
Also Battery Left has to be 'trained' by fully charging and then fully discharging the battery. It does show the % left and the time left. More info here. Developer FAQ
Thanks for the pics of the battery and the link.

how does it even fit? mine came without any hooks of any kind it cannot attach at all. are the uk and us streaks different?
Mine arrived this morning from superetrader (via ebay)
didn't realise it was a cameron sinai battery, had some real issues with those in the past, if I'd known I wouldn't have ordered it...
But I'll test it for a few days and see how I get on.
Does this battery or the mugen 4800 still fit in the av dock?
the powermonitor in the EMlist reports this as 1446 capacity which is wrong,
I charged it with the streak off then wiped battery stats
its currently on 57% after 25 hours..
cover is pretty easy to dislodge (As its easy to grab), easily fixed in the 1.xx streakdroid roms as they disable the forced shutdown if that happens.
back does make a nice shape to hold.
so far not bad

First thing I tried was resetting battery stats. Don't know what that does, but didn't seem to make a difference. I properly did the training for Battery Left, I even adjusted the battery capacity setting, but the numbers given still only varied slightly from Android's.
Still loving it, BTW...

Anyone got an update?
If you bought this battery I have some follow up questions.
1) Are you still using it?
2) Are you using it as a spare or your everyday battery?
4) How accurate is the battery meter on the phone when using this?
3) What are the pluses?
4) What are the minuses?
5) Is the cover part of the battery or a separate piece?
6) Any problems with the cover coming loose?
7) have you modified a case/cover for your Streak to use with this? If so, which one?
Thanks for the feedback.
I use mine maybe once a week,
used it quite a lot while in netherlands, battery life is definitely better than stock one.
cover hasnt come undone by itself, and now I hold it properly its ok
battery levels appears to be down to the method of calculation that wont account for extended batteries, so 100% is 1500 mah or so no matter what, I've found the battery drops to 1% then keeps going for quite a while

I have had this battery for about a week now. http://www.batterybay.net/Battery-for-Motorola-XT720-p/motorola -cs-mxt720xl.htm I personaly dont get much more time over the stock battery. I get at best an hour more than stock. Battery feels lighter & cheaper than stock. Just my opinion hope this helps.
is that it? anyone else use it yet?
shame i was getting quite excited about it
^thats good to know, i guess. i had been considering it,but then ive had bad experiences with this spare battery that was given to me by the buyer. It's a cheap "Speed" china brand, and it really really sucks. like 3 hours and its done.
If i would ever get another battery i would always make sure its motorola, just from my experience with that horrible battery.

Ahh what a waste and a ripoff then. I got an OEM backup and stand alone charger from amazon for under $10 and it's been great. Of course both are OEM. Then I had to get a replacement phone, so now I have 3 total batteries. Keep one on the charger and one with me so that's a reason why I just didn't order it, good thing. But you can find the OEM batteries for about $5.
Thanks for the heads up it's nice to know.

I get at best an hour more than stock. Battery feels lighter & cheaper than stock. Just my opinion hope this helps.

Hey, you mind posting a picture of how the phone looks with the extended battery cover on it?
Got a similar one off ebay, said "Cameron Sino" on the battery, some holographic backing and serious looking packaging. With decent english! XD
No dropped calls like another cheap-o battery I got, that battery also let the phone turn on 5 or 10 times after turning off. And sometimes it would hang doing nothing, had a dead phone in my pocket more than once.
Battery is twice as heavy as the original, back end is plastic.
Not sure about the two copper pads, they are now no longer connected. Reception is unchanged though, not sure what the pads are for.
Lasted me 36 hours to dead this time, second charge.
I've played grave defense two hours, surfed and left sync and wifi/bt etc all on to spend power as fast as possible.
I barely got 16 hours on the now 1 year old original battery, with sync off and no games. So this is a massive improvement.
Shows 5% after four hours though, I've just deleted the battery calibration info, hoping it'll solve itself eventually.
Voltage is 4.0 volts when phone says 5% so phone doesn't report it correctly.
Phone turns off normally and then phone won't start, just like original battery.

This is the exact link I bought from btw:
The battery in the picture isn't the battery I got..

There may be copies out, I noticed the URLs you gave have pics of batteries that says "XELL" and the other is unbranded... Damn jungle.
Wow, 2300 mAh. We can enjoy for longer with XT720
Well.. Problem persists with % being incorrect. I get 5% after 6-7 hours, and it will last happily for 48 hours with gaming etc.
Problem is phone just suddenly dies without warning, so I've returned to stock. :S
Battery Monitor Widget shows 2478mah measured, and weirdly, shows 1325mAh on stock battery.. Which would indicate it ISN'T worn..?
the ram is not enough. who can make swap?

Screen flickers then phone dies while browsing over 3G

Phone is on stock ICS 4.0.3. It's 10 months old and only exhibited the issue just recently.
While browsing using Dolphin over 3G the screen flickers while the page is still loading. The battery charge starts dropping quickly until the phone turns itself off. When the phone is turned on again after a few minutes the battery level is back at half. A check of the battery usage history shows a very steep drop followed by a rise back to mid levels even without charging. A full charge usually lasts 2-3 hours of continuous browsing.
Changed to Chrome and it still flickers. I charged it while off overnight once and will continue doing so until it behaves. Any other suggestions?
Our service has been erratic for a while though. The provider is upgrading some base stations. Could this be a factor?
It seems to be a battery issue

I'll try that. It does keep a good charge if left sleeping. I checked the usage and it was awake only intermittently with the internet off.
There are instances where signal strength drops though that's why I also suspected the provider. Games also do not affect the battery that much.
Got a shot of the battery usage:

The steep drop happens while browsing. What's weird is that the battery magically recovers some of its charge after 3g is turned off.
The battery is also not flush against the chassis at the bottom part. It seems to have a slight bulge on both sides. Oh well hope the warranty is worth something
[SOLVED] Screen flickers then phone dies while browsing over 3G
Bought a new OEM battery for around 40USD with a 6 month warranty. It's behaving itself for now. Problem is the battery I got was produced in the same month as the original battery. Hope it lasts longer.
The sales person said it could have been caused by a few bad habits:
- charging while using the phone (guilty)
- charging overnight (guilty but I thought the charger turns itself off after the battery's full?)
So now I turn off the phone while charging.
I have the same issue of the screen flickering and as I see from the above posts, it is a battery issue. My battery has bulged A LOT. My phone is currently at the Samsung service center for the same problem. Will Samsung replace the battery under warranty? My 1-year warranty expires on November 20 (6 days from today)
It looks like Samsung only warranties batteries for 6 months

DAMN! Let's see what they have done when I get my phone back from the service center

Bizzare Battery Issues

I've been experiencing random power-off events when the battery indicator shows roughly 35% or lower. Seemingly random percentage, and it doesn't do it all the time, Sometimes I can run it down to 5% and it's fine. This seems to be a well documented phenomenon here on XDA with many people coming to the conclusion that it's a software problem, so I've just been living with it. If I don't use the crap out of my phone it will only happen once every couple weeks.
But today, oh boy. I've never seen or read about anything like this. I've attached a screenshot of my battery history today and I'll describe my phone usage to help make sense out of the battery history graph.
Phone = XT1095 Pure Edition/Unlocked/MotoMaker, 32GB, Stock Android 6.0, rooted, TWRP, no battery optimizer/conditioner programs. I use a wireless charging adapter under a TPU cover to charge on a Qi charging base at night and an Anker car charger for emergencies like today. The wireless charging adapter charges the phone slowly and seems to make the random power-off problems less bad.
Taken off the charger at 10am and used normally until 3pm (A to B). From 3:15pm to 3:50pm I streamed mp3 music stored on the phone to my bluetooth headset while running MapMyRide (B to C). MapMyRide pounds the crap out of GPS because it precisely and continuously tracks your movement. I also had intermittent cell signal which causes high battery usage. After I finished my ride I opened the camera app with a twist to take a picture and the phone shut off. I powered it back on and it said 50% battery. I opened the camera app again with a twist and again it shut off. I powered it back on once more and it said 5% battery and put itself into battery saver mode (D). I gave up on the picture and put the phone on my car charger and drove to my friends' house. When I arrived it was somewhere between 25-30% (E). I hung out for two hours and didn't use my phone at all (except to check the time) and DID NOT charge it during that time, yet the battery graph goes UP during those two hours. When I got back in my car I plugged the phone back into the car charger and it jumped up to 60% immediately (F). I drove home with it on the car charger and unplugged it (G). Almost no usage the rest of the night until now (H). The camera app works fine, I just tested it.
If anyone has any idea what's wrong here, bad battery, bad charging circuit, software problem, phone with one foot in the grave, please chime in. I don't want to spend money on a new battery (and also on a new battery cover of course because I want a wooden one) just to still have the same problem, or worse problems if I unwittingly buy a piece of crap Chinese knockoff battery.

Got it from ebay from a seller in Spain. There are some in the US but wouldn't ship to my country.
All's good now.
Oh, btw, quickchargers and turbochargers will cause & worsen the problem. I'm now only using stock charger.

Indeed it was the battery. I did the same exact thing that caused the issues before, using the same exact apps for the same amount of time and all was well. I got a used oem Motorola battery because all of the new batteries listed look like fakes. Out of 50 or so listings, there were only three or four different serial numbers. The place I got my replacement from uses a Cadex battery tester to ensure the health of the battery, and I've had good results buying Motorola parts from them before.
If it is a battery problem and not a software problem, then I can confirm that the ones on eBay are probably fake. I'm on my third battery in this phone and the one I'm on now consistently dies at 26 ish % and has done so since a week after I installed it. Let me know if you have success and I might try a fourth battery.
Was it cold out when it died? I believe the root cause is a low voltage shutoff built into the hardware of this phone. Very rarely do I see the " phone shutting down" screen, it just dies.
Even though our phones may have plenty of capacity, its the slight weakness in cold weather or running the CPU too hard that causes a low voltage shutdown. If someone has a good source of batteries for this phone let us know.
At this point I just know when it gets to 40% I need to be prepared for it to die. Looking at a replacement soon.

It was in the 20's today. Mine shutdown at 50 percent when I went into the browser, Firefox Nightly. I can restart it but if I try to go into the browser, shuts off without warning again.
It's certainly a battery issue not software. It happens on stock or custom ROMs. After replacing my battery with a new one bought from eBay,it solved all those early shutting down issues.

I'm surprised with how bad my battery has gotten, the battery hasn't expanded yet (judging by the back cover gaps or lack there of).

Normal wear and tear imo. These phones at the oldest are 3 years old. It's just that the software or sensors or combo can't pick up the reduced capacity, causing the random shut downs. Cold weather certainly doesn't help.

My Moto G is 4 years old and the battery life is still great. No random shutdowns and it can even stand on 1%.
I've been looking into this more and am discovering that it shuts down around 3.0v. The thing is at 30% the battery pack is like 3.4-3.6v. If you launch a power hungry app or go out into the cold, it easily drops below 3. I lowered the maximum CPU to 2ghz and has seemed to help. Shut downs happen at 20% instead of 30-40%. I'm going to lower the cpu even more to see if there's a sweet spot.

What seller did you buy it from? Are they still selling? How long ago did you install it? I've tried batteries from two different sellers with no improvements. I would love for this problem to have a solution.
Also I think I remember reading somewhere that the reason for these issues is that the battery is right up against the processor and the heat from the processor causes the battery to wear differently.

Never seen that one. I read a lot about changing batteries and many people said that if you do not use an original OEM Motorola battery that it will not fit right and it can cause problems putting the phone back together, as well as a problem with the speaker. It's because aftermarket batteries are very slightly thicker and they don't have the proper curve, or any curve, and so they don't fit right.

Well, it's not entirely a battery issue. My replacement battery fixed the problem that I was having where my phone would shut off if I used the GPS heavily. But Today I experienced an early battery shut down issue again.

I didn't think of this, silly me. Apple was busted last week for secretly underclocking their iPhone's CPUs when the system detected the battery degraded. To prevent this exact issue of random shutdowns.

Yep too high for the degraded battery. When the batteries were healthy it was fine.

A user on the Nexus 6 section is experiencing the same issue. For those not aware the Nexus 6 is like a big brother to the 2014 Moto X, same design. I found this post interesting about replacement batteries, as again this is the same issue with replacement batteries for the 2014 Moto X.

Yep, bad battery, had to replace mine at the start of the year, if it's at 30-40% don't expect much more out of it, the battery can't put out the required voltage the system needs to hit clock speeds. Could limit clock speeds for a very temp fix if desperate lol.
Far as the battery goes, my advice is get one that's already bent into shape / curved. I made the mistake of getting a flat one and had to curve it myself which is basically impossible. Turns out the funny thing with the Nexus 6 is the shape of the battery fully dictates the shape of the midframe, if it's not perfect then the midframe bends to match the battery not the other way around, and you can imagine what this does to the entire phone since having a warped midframe + battery will make the entire device to fit the same form. Sitting mine on a level surface it is clear it is no longer straight. I've tried to redo it many times but repeatedly bending a battery is not very advisable :-/ lol.

As I type this I am at 10%! I think this is confirmed CPU draws too many amps for a slightly degraded battery!! Right now I'm using kernal auditor and it applies settings after boot. You guys are much smarter than me though, is there a way to flash CPU settings so it applies even when booting??
Current settings are 300mhz min, 1500 input and 2000max, zero lag with Facebook, youtube, camera, ect. 2500mgh is too high!
