I received my note 7 on august 14th. Today, (twelve days later) my N7 fell from my couch down to the floor which is carpeted and it shattered the bottom left corner of the screen while it was in a Spigen case! I think CORNING or samsung messed up on gorilla glass 7.
yeah I don't trust it, Some how it's less shatterproof but one 3rd the hardness in scratch tests ? they might as well just use fiberglass
That sucks, since this particular phone is especially difficult and expensive to repair. Do you have insurance? When buying my phone at T-mo sales girl added insurance to my bill without even asking or telling, but since numbers didn't match I asked her what is she charging me and as usual declined any insurance. But come to think of it, it may have been a mistake. Time will tell.
Samsung protection plus is half the price of T-Mobile insurance.
Yes. I have insurance and paid the $175 deductible. Now looking for a case that I can live with. I've used Spigen air cushion cases happily on my note 5 and S7 edge. I want something that will protect it, but not make it so bulky that I hate carrying it.

Which Spigen case where you using when it broke? I have always used the Neo Hybrid on my past phones but trying the Rugged Armor right now.
I was using this case:
Galaxy Note 7 Case, SpigenĀ® [Ultra Hybrid] AIR CUSHION [Crystal Clear] Clear back panel + TPU bumper for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (2016)
I had forgotten about the neo hybrid. I liked that case.

Hi all,
I originally decided on the S7 Edge solely because of the battery life. I hated the curved edges but thought I'd get used to them. Well.... the return period has long since expired and I still hate the edges. Is there any case out there that covers up the edges and adequately protects the phone? Like ideally it would have lips come up over the edges, almost like they weren't there. Additionally, is there any software out there that can turn the edge pixels completely off? I'm not opposed to rooting and such if necessary.
Basically, I'd like to turn the phone into a nice normal flat phone.
Thanks!
If you want a flat phone just trade it in for a regular S7. Otherwise, 3d print or mold yourself a custom case.
As stated, you should trade out for an S7. No company would still be in business of making phone cases if they covered up the edge on a phone specifically made to have one.
try the supcase unicorn pro... that helps to minimize accidental edge touches of that's a concern.
Having bought and spend so much money on cases, I have now settled for Piel Frama's iMagnum case for the S7 edge. I think I might do a little review of this case on here with some photos in few days.
This covers edges of S7E, has a magnetic closure and superb full grain leather. Absolutely amazing case.. Downside, it's one of most expensive case in market, but well worth the money.
P.S. I am not affiliated with the company.

This is the case you need for your problem. This is the one Cmart4 mentioned. It doesn't cover the edges but it is raised at an angle by the edges making it easy to hold like a non curved phone. If you're keeping the phone this is the best case for you. It's also really good with screen protectors since it clips on from the front and it has great drop protection. I've dropped mine over 20 times in that case with zero damage.

Hello all,
I'm about to list some items I'm thinking about ordering in prep to maximize the best duration of my preordered Note 8 for the next 2 years. I preordered my phone through Best Buy with Verizon in the Orchid Gray color. If you have better suggestions, post it to let me know!
Case: Spigen CS Slime Armor Wallet case in BLACK: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Galax...514&sr=8-5&keywords=note+8+cs+slim+armor&th=1
Slickwrap skin in BRUSHED STEEL: https://www.slickwraps.com/metal-series-skins-wraps-for-samsung-galaxy-note-8.html
Screen protector (if possible that could work with the skin wrap?): https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Prote...g=androidcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUacUdUnU62642
I am a bit concerned how I might pit the screen protector with the front part of the wrap, but really I think I just wanted the wrap completely in the backside of the phone to protect the glass. I am ordering through Slickwrap since it seems like there is a great promotion of 42% discount with a special promo code provided by them.
I'm open to suggestion so if anyone could recommend me something different or gives me their experiences, I will be happy with that! Thanks!
I'd say to get the skinomi full body wrap ( $15 ish ). The case is dependent on what you like but I'm in love with the Zizo Bolt case. Used it on my last 2 Samsung's and I drop my phones on concrete a ton. When I turned in my s7 edge, the tmobile rep didn't believe I had It for a year until he saw my account. Still looked like new !
The full body skin adds another level of cushion for drops and also keeps dirt from scratching the phone between the case. Dirt ALWAYS finds its way in so it's a fool proof way of keeping it from hurting the phone body itself.

And ive run this case on all my Samsungs. I love the kick stand built in and the lanyard for when I'm out on the boat snapping photos. It's also protected against literal hundreds of drops. It's protective capabilities are equal to an otterbox defender.

I'm not using the skinomi screen protector that came with the kit currently though. The zizo bolt comes with a glass one and it feels / works awesomely. No sensitivity loss and no weird rainbows. Ill keep it on until it breaks, then slap the skinomi on while waiting on a new one. Word of advice....
Use the body skin, then heat it with a hair dryer. Then wait a day before installing the phone case.
Then install the glass protector using the case as a guide. Works every time

I just got in my Spigen Tough Armor kickstand case and once again it's hands-down the best in the business.
The cutout is absolutely perfect for the S Pen where it flares open towards the outside for easy access.
Light mat rubberized texture for great grip and half-decent kickstand..
It also seems to be compatible with my yootech screen protector as it's not lifting.

I bought and received the Official Samsung kickstand case. It is military grade and unbelievable! It cost $40 but I would buy it again any day of the week!

Yo man, that official kickstand case from Samsung is so hot. I just can't justify paying $40 for a case LOL. If I see it go on sale I am definitely picking it up though. I love how they integrated the design of the case with the kickstand

You'll pay $950 for a phone, but not $40 for a case to protect it????

Not knocking ya, just find it ironic that some people think $40 for a case is excessive for a phone they spent a almost $1k for. I like the case you bought and added it to a list of cases to look into for my Note, but would drop $40 in a heartbeat if I like the case. To each their own I guess.

People actually pay full price for phones??? Ive been trading up since the moto razer, never paid full price for a phone in my life.
I have the tough armor as well, have to admit, it is awesome and the price is right. I did by the beetle one though because i am considering the dome glass screen protector. I have some skinomi coming in tomorrow though, going to see how that is.
I have the spigen tough armor also. It's a nice case but I went and bought the Samsung rugged case and to me the Samsung case feels better in the hand. It's not as wide as the spigen and it doesn't have edges

I love my spigen tough armor case. I did consider buying the official Samsung rugged case but looking at reviews on youtube, it doesn't have much of a raise lip on the top so it turns me off for 40.00.

I ended up buying a 3n$60 LG G4's and trading it in for $425 on Samsung. I got 3 Note 8's for $505 each
I was able to do it because I owned three Note 7's
I got the Spigen Slim Armor but don't yet have a Note 8 to put in it. Once I have that, I'll let you know my thoughts. I've used Spigen cases for quite a while and they've always been rock solid.
Should I get the UAG Monarch. Ghostek Nautical, or the ARMOR-X case? I can't decide but I want the best protection I can get, if there is any alternatives I would love to know what they are!
Thanks

Decided to go with the Ghostek Nautical. It's a nice case with excellent protection, including an integrated screen saver. The two downsides are that the S-Pen is very difficult to remove and headphone use requires an extender, which dose not come with the case. It reminds me of the Otterbox Galaxy S7 Edge case that had an integrated screen protector.
I've seen at least three other cases with integrated screen savers (all available through Amazon) but have no experience with these:
1) Love Mei Water Resistant Shockproof Aluminum Metal Super Anti Shake Silicone Fully Body Protection for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
2) Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Case, SUPCASE Full-body Rugged Holster Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Galaxy Note 8
3) i-Blason Galaxy Note 8 Case, Shock Reduction / Full body Bumper Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8
I have the UAG Monarch on order. I've been using their cases with every single phone that had one available for as long as I can remember. I always had their standard cases (now called Pathfinder) but they apparently aren't making those for the Note 8 and I hate the transparent cases. So this is my first Monarch, I'm sure I'll love it just the same.
I have the Ghostek Nautical. It's not to great to be honest.
The photos when using flash are blurry and have the halo light effect.
You cannot get the S-Pen out unless you have small fingers or use another object to try to remove it.
It's kind of depressing because this case was awesome for my galaxy s8. Only reason why I decided to use it for my note 8.
I got a Nautical, and honestly its not worth anything near the amount sold for.
The one i got the power button did not work unless you hit it with a hammer. The fingerprint cut out was not aligned with the phone. The plastic feels cheap. and due to a reflection from the case, its impossible to take a photo with flash with the cover on.
Highly disappointed.

I'd say go with the OtterBox Defender, tried and true. If you are paying $60 for a case might as well go with the Defender.
I understand wanting to protect the phone, but looking at these cases they are unbelievably bulky. Sturdy yes but wow, the added bulk. What are you guys doing with your phones that you need such a massive case? I'm genuinely curious as my last case was a Bear Motion for the Pixel and it didn't even cover the top and bottom. And even now I'm only using the Rinke smoke TPU case.

I have a thick protective case instead of paying monthly then a deductive for insurance, especially nowadays that everything is glass the phones are too vulnerable to drops. Sure I'd love to rock the phone "naked" and show off the amazing design but if I dropped it I would be extremely pissed I just broke a $1000 phone.
I don't understand why some find it to be a problem that others want to protect their 1000 dollar investment some ppl work in accident prone jobs we need protection I don't like spending multiple 1000s repeatedly.

I bought a Ghostek Nautical for my Galaxy Note 9. The s-pen cover does not close. After complaining to Ghostek and demanding a replacement case or refund, Ghostek agreed to send a replacement. It took two months to arrive. The s-pen cover on the replacement case also doesn't close. Don't waste money on their case..
Didn't believe it when I saw my screen. Fell from my shoulder after a call and landed on the wood floor in my horse. The zagg protector flew off and was about a foot from my phone. It was cracked all over originating in the corner and middle. My actual screen had a crack curving from the left top corner from edge to edge. Well anyone that has these watch out how you drop them. The screen protector won't stay on very well with the edge adhesive protector. Never buying them again. Apparently the defender fails at defending. Had otterbox for many years without any incident. Watch out people.
Damn that sucks. Sorry for your loss. Starting to wonder if even my bulky case with integral protector will do any good if an Otterbox failed you.
Does the Defender also leave the screen proud of the edges of the case?
Those stick on screen protectors do not work well with the edges. All the protectors ive tried that just stick on like that dont stay on for me for more than a week. Im currently rocking a whitestone dome with a spigen tough armor case and ive dropped this phone like 6 times so far. 2 Down my wooden stairs.
Sorry to heat that your phone didnt make the fall though Hopefully you can get it repaired or replaced....

No the case is higher than the screen. It dropped on the top left corner. The crack goes over the sensors up there. I'm with Verizon and asurion said they were backordered so no replacement. Plus it 200 for replacment
Those sticker PET films that I use are only good for scratches not drops, agreed. hence why I use a leather wallet style case.
OP sorry for your loss, hopefully Samsung will replace with a 300 bucks charge, I think thats the going rate here in teh USA for screen replacement from them?
that sucks sorry about that - can you upload a pic of the carnage and your setup? thanks
Are there really two threads about the exact same thing by the same user? Lol.

Wasn't intentional. But after my friend went through a similar thing with the same setup, I wanted to put out a PSA that got people's attention.
Just dropped mine yesterday. Wearing sweat pants with short pockets, my phone slipped out of my pocket after taking a seat, and fell to the floor, the edge of my N8 hitting the edge of a brick step. Thank God, my phone came out unscathed, with the exception of a broken Whitedome SP, and a slightly chipped 19.99 Official Samsung plastic cover protector.

Sincerely sorry for your loss there...... But lol @ "watch how you drop your phone" ?
Bought screen protector from Zagg.. within first week it started cracking ON ITS OWN just from being in my scrubs pocket. Sent that back and tried another thinking it was my fault.. nope the second one cracked on its own. Called verizon and got a credit they them sent me one of theirs and after 2 weeks my screen was full of lint and dirt and would barley stick to screen. I am now convinced anyone with a curved screen just better be extra cautious with their device because it's difficult to keep a screen protector on long... if only other box would .and the full defender case with glass protector attached like they did for previous devices
I bought my Galaxy Note 8 in September 2017. I have a SPECK Presidio Grip military grade case and later got the Otterbox Defender thinking it was the case Since purchasing the ZAGG $49.99 from Verizon in March 2018, I have had 3 screens replaced. 2 within one week's time as it also CRACKED ON ITS OWN! I am very careful with my phone, even went as far as purchasing a Michael KORS phone wallet. I agree with one of the other customers. It must be the curved screen and the Otterbox no longer come with a protective screen over the case.

Sorry for your loss. Might want to consider SPIGEN for your case. Ive been using it for several phones for several years. Ive dropped them several times and the screen never cracked. I also used their tempered glass but I used Whitestone for Notw 8.

Otterbox commuter is still great, but yes I'd stay away from the Defender from now on (due to the hard inner shell design).
This has me worried; I'm using the Whitestone Dome with a standard Caseology case.. I've dropped my phone multiple times and I've had no issues save for the protector lifting on one corner at one point; I was considering a bulkier case- do you guys think it's still worth it?
