Does unlocking the bootloader and rooting wipe the phone clean?
Thanks
Yes, unlocking the bootloader does wipe the phone.
I have a friend who asked me to root his HTC One M7 from sprint. I told him yes, and when I explained that we had to unlock the bootloader, it would wipe his phone clean. Well after that he told me it is flashed to PagePlus. If I go to unlock the bootloader so I can root it, will the phone lose its compatibility with PagePlus? Plus can anyone direct me to a good tutorial for unlocking the bootloader and rooting this phone?! Thanks in advance!!!!
First and foremost, My One M8 is S-On but so far I haven't had any problems with it. Had TWRP and Xposed installed before and did a Full RUU wipe and OTA'd to Marshmallow. As far as I am aware of there isn't a current root method yet? Did anyone successfully unlocked their bootloader? It seemed that Sprint or HTC removed "Enable OEM Unlock" in the developer section. When I tried to unlock the bootloader, my phone only boots to FASTBOOT USB. No more Unlock bootloader page with the Yes or No. Do I have to request a new Unlock_code.bin from HTC?

Hi:
I am trying to unlock an old MetroPCS HTC Desire 626s for my daughter to use. I followed the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-626/general/how-to-sim-unlock-htc-desire-626s-t-t3317734 however, the phone is not unlocked. That thread is now locked so I could not reply to it.
Yes I followed the instructions in that thread and I verified it was completed by dumping the partition again and it now matches the "Unlocked" file.
Any updates on unlocking this phone for free?
