This is the first day I'm using my p9 on mobile data after the b170 update yesterday. I narrow this issue down with sending MMS vis 4G/LTE. Once I try to send an MMS my mobile internet goes offline and the MMS never sends. It still shows I'm connected but when going to chrome it says I'm offline. I have to turn mobile data off and on to reestablish a connection. But once I try to send an MMS, I go offline again. I can send MMS just fine on 3G/H and I'm able to stay online. Anyone else seen this issue on the recent b170 update?

Never mind, it was an apn issue. Very weird as I never had to mess with apn settings before.

Also weird, as I was having issues with my 6P too. I had to reset my APN settings on both phones. This is on T-Mobile btw.

Nevermind, searched on here for the info and set it up using that....works now without wifi!
Thanks a bunch rjblack11
i have the same problem how did you fix it ?
OTA?
was that an OTA update? or a manual ?
Hello, I got an xperia z three weeks ago and it has always worked perfectly until yesterday: I'm experiencing strange mobile data connection issues. I can surf the web but if I disconnect and connect again, the connection may freeze: the H icon (or g or e..) appears and phone seems to transmit data as it shows an up arrow but the down arrow never appears and I can't surf the web. Toggling data and airplane mode may allow me to connect successfully but it's always pretty random..
I started thinking it was a software issue.. So i flashed The phone with the utility twice.. No success. Carrier issue? Nope: it's all ok and apn settings are ok as I can use them. Hardware issue? Perhaps as I found out that removing the SIM card and inserting it back in a certain way could make the difference (higher rate of successful connections).. So what do you think? Could be the SIM card (I got a new one in December though), the phone or something I did not consider? Sadly I can't test a different SIM now but as soon as I can find one, I will try. Thank you!
Re: [ISSUE] Data connection not working properly
Does it happen while your using the device or when it's sleeping you turn device back on? I also have sort the same issue but with WiFi..

Ok.. I found out the cause.. It is the carrier.. They said itwas all ok but many are reporting my same issues in my country.. So not fixed yet but I can stop flashing my phone twice a day.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I can't go on the Internet and send pictures. I tried restarting the phone and taking the battery out and all. I tried messing with the mobile network settings still didn't fix it

Mine does the same thing, but I use wifi when at home so I have not noticed. Maybe it is a network issue on their end. When i turn off wifi I get my 4G/LTE symbol on the top bar so it is working. I still get the same issue as you have pictured. I don't believe that is actually used by AT&T now. In either case even though it says failed mine still works so your issue lies elsewhere if it is not working.

Try a network reset from this thread. Can't hurt, may fix it, easy.
How do I do the network reset?

Have you checked your APN settings? I would also try power cycling and if all else fails try contacting ATT. If you dont have any apns, search around and you should find them.
Tried all that. How do I reset network settings?

Hi,
Has anyone had this problem - or any ideas what it might be?
Basically, every now and then I'll lose the data connection (but keep signal for voice and text). Turning airplane mode on/off doesn't rectify it, neither does turning off/on the data connection. However if I restart the phone, I'll get data signal straight away.
Any ideas?
what about changing network type from 3g to 2g and back ?
I used to have this problem on three UK with nexus 4 and 5. Might be a carrier issue?

I have exactly the same issue. Only cure seems to be a reboot. Haven't seen a pattern as to how or when it happens.

Funny you should say that, I'm with three at the moment...
I have the same problem. Though I'm from Russia and my network provider has nothing to do with Three (if only they exchange their "expertise").
I had this with my Z3C. Also on Three but my Moto G and Nexus 5 are fine. I think Bluetooth might have something to do with it. In the end I sent my Z3C back for a refund as Sony were no help at all.
Anybody experiencing WiFi/Cell handoff issues? After a while, I loose cell reception when connected to WiFi, it toggles on/off. When I turn off WiFi and turn it back on, it solves the issue for a while.

Fixed the issue.....
Went into the bootloader and cleared the cache.
I'm not sure if this is the same type of issues, but since the update, I've found that I can't receive MMS messages on my phone when I am connected to WiFi and a network extender. (I live in the sticks and get terrible reception without a network extender) If I turn off the WiFi, the messages send and receive without a problem. Any thoughts?
