Im curious, since samsung officially announce the galaxy note 7 recall.
Will we get nougat 7.0 installed in updated note 7?
Keeping my fingers crossed but i doubt they will do it!
Still going to keep my fingers crossed lol
Highly doubt it since it has to go through carriers first. But sure I'm optimistic!?

I'm going to say no as well.. They are too focused on correcting issues without creating new ones in the process, plus like the previous poster said it has to go through the carriers as well.

No. And I surely hope not. They didn't promise 7.x until Nov. I'd like my Note 7 replaced way before then.

I am pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Samsung is already expecting to loose close to a billion dollars because of the recall. I don't think they are going to give away 600 million worth in watches away for free.
I would hope not, if you enjoy root on your device going to a newer build could always introduce an unknown factor. It's always best to know what the update has in terms of fixes and patches before having it installed.

I believe it is indeed gone because Costco has some inventory left, but they marked it as CLOSEOUT. Thus indicating that once, their inventory is gone, then it is gone for sure.
Plus, 8/29 is when Samsung is unveiling their next Galaxy Note 2.
IMO, Tmobile really didn't do their homework on this one. You waited until the product is end of life to stock it into your inventory.
But in tmobile's defense, this may be their only way to get into bed with Samsung for their next GNote2 without having Att's exclusivity strangle hold on the next gen.

Or, they got in on the last of the 10 million units Samsung built in order to evaluate the market demand. Samsung announced a 10M goal perhaps that's all they built. They announced that 10M had been sold shortly after Tmo offered them to their customers. I imagine Samsung considers them sold as soon as they are delivered to a carrier with out waiting until they are actually in the consumer's hand. No way to know how many units were provided to Tmo but if they are all already sold I think it would prove the demand for the Note 2 is likely to be strong enough for Tmo to want it. If Samsung anticipates bringing the new Note to market right away I would think they might have stopped production on the original in order to make enough of the new to meet initial demand.
This is all just hopeful speculation of course but I sure would like it if the next version of the Note arrived at Tmo in time for Christmas.

If they keep the same aspect ratio a 5.5" screen will be just 1/10" wider and 0.17" taller than the 5.3". That minor difference can easily be made up for with thinner bezels. It's hard to believe Samsung would go to 1280 x 720 pixels and risk negative reviewer comments regarding significant resolution reduction. Fewer pixels on more real estate would be a glaring downgrade and going to full HD would unduly compromise battery stamina, so a 16 x 9 aspect ratio seems unlikely to me. When it comes to anything without fruit on the back, some reviewers are so picky I imagine they will knock the reduced dpi that would result from keeping the current 1280 x 800 count on a larger screen. I haven't seen it suggested anywhere but I wonder if they could go to a 1440 x 900 pixel count keeping the current 16 x 10 ratio and raising the dpi resolution from 285 to 308. I don't know enough to guess if technical problems in scaling would prevent this but there are monitors on the market using this configuration so I assume it's possible. This solution would let Samsung brag that the new screen is an upgrade in more or less all parameters. Thinner bezels on top and side could produce a smaller handset with a larger screen at higher resolution that wouldn't drain the battery as much as a 1080p screen. I'm not predicting this, just pointing out that everything that has been rumored is pure speculation and no one really knows what Samsung will pull out of the hat.
I absolutely agree that everything's pure conjecture at the moment.... I based my perspective on a couple of articles that predict a Note 2 with a close asthetic / similar form factor to the new Galaxy S3.... (http://m.gsmarena.com/exclusive_gal...ins_narrower_than_original_note-news-4455.php).
As you stated, no one will know for certain until it's announced....

Reading that, I don't really see that as confirmation they aren't discontinuing the phone, just that there may still be stores that have some in stock. The comment from TMo looks more like a move to sell those remaining units before making the official announcement that it's discontinued.
Just my interpretation of the article and situation, given that T-Mobile has never pulled a phone from the website in the past for being out of stock. They simply add OUT OF STOCK next to the phone until it has been replenished.
Sent from my SGH-T879 using xda premium
Well if they do discontinue the phone in hopes to replace it with the note 2, I personally will stick with my tmo note. After having the unlocked version for awhile and now owning the tmo version, I'm happy.

That's very true.... But it's somewhat more promising than an outright statement from T-Mobile declaring it discontinued.... At any rate, if I was still looking for one I'd be burning up the streets trying to get to all local T-Mobile stores, Costcos, etc., until I found one to purchase

It would be nice. But I doubt it. Why wait an extra month? Why just not introduce both phones at the same event? Samsung seems to think the S5 they announced yesterday is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
This is wishful thinking. There's no reason for Samsung to do that big launch event and not introduce all it's products. Maybe if the "S5 Prime" wasn't going to be ready for another 6 months, but then it's going to start bumping up against the next gen of phones so the release would be moot.

Idk about 6 months because the Note 4 will be released around then (around November or so). That's why I'm saying a month or so (by March/April).
I just refuse to believe that this is the best Samsung could come up with. Maybe they wanted to have something ready for Barcelona and decided to hold their true flapship phone not phablet back for their own big event.
If the S5 Premium exists it better offers at least 3 gig of ram, more PPI = 2k display and a less "glossy" look
I can't see this happening. The while one more thing Steve Jobs did once won't happen. I'm somewhat disappointed with the specs but I love the software gimmicks. This just solidified my plan to upgrade from my note 3 to the 4.

You really don't want a 2600 x 1400 display.
Most people are *****ing about the lack of high end specs. If you go the route of a higher resolution screen your really just taxing your battery and SoC and for what? Something that you need a magnifying glass to see? 1080p on a smart phone is more than enough. At least until power issues are solved.

that I totally agree with. the phone is pretty disappointing. .
Well now....
It "might" launch? I might skip it as well as the plastic version. Still a worthless upgrade unless your on an S2. Come on LG G 3....
And as for who else is expecting? The only thing I expect from them at this point is to be disappointed. I loved Samsung at one point. I own 2 TV's, 2 camera's, I"ve had the S2, Note , S3 , Note 2 , S4... No S5 for me after the locked bootloader crap.
If the rumors of Samsung lowering the retail price of the S5 hold true, then I would say that a premium "F" version is all but guaranteed.
Just my two cents.

The "P" or "F" or whatever series is set for a June launch (May announcement?) alongside with the Snapdragon 805 and Exynos 5/6 64bit and the QHD screen which has a low yield right now. No need to rush things, cause if the S5 kicks off like $100 cheaper than usual, a quarter of top sales should come handy before releasing the True New Flagship. Well the Note series is The Flagship nowadays for Samsung and I think they realized that people see it that way, which is why the new metallic nex-gen line-up to catch attention, but we'll see.
If I am Samsung, I would not launch a new phone for now. I rather save the metal build quality for note 4 now. I think it is going to disappoint existing S5 users.

Why should Samsung go full metal? The leather like back on the Note 3 is phenomenal. They aren't going to ditch one of their USP things just so people can show off their phone.
Other than that no doubt the Note 4 will come with topend specs, 5,7 inch should be enough to pack an octacore and qhd resolution into it.

As proven by the S 5 I think highend specs are way more interesting for the majority of the users. Beating the N 3 is not going to be an easy task Samsung absolutely nailed it and found a big niche market with this thing.

thr will be different edition of S5
like what happened for S4 (snap 600 to snap 800)
so it s possible for S5 from snap 801 to ... (maybe 805)
but different design from plastic to metal...! i don think so!
and I think Galaxy F series served for flexible feature.
and the F will get 2K, 3GB RAM etc...

Metal case is nice and all that, but if it means it won't have a removable battery, then I'm out.

As the owner of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I will buy Note 3. Not a big upgrade if we compare Note 3 with Note 4.
I expected a BIGGER battery (4000mAh), slightly bigger screen (5.9inch), stereo speakers (similar to HTC ONE). Those features are more ESSENTIAL to me than... water resistance.... ?
All of my friends that have a Note 3 love them. I'm moving from my SIII. I want the memory and processor with an SD card slot. I love my Transformer TF700, but it is aging. I'll kill 2 birds with one stone. I fully expect to root it after we understand which changes will add value.
Because I haven't owned a note since the original model.
The only reason I would decide to buy a Note 4 would be for the Gear VR! A Samsung partnership with Oculus?? Awesome! But do I wanna pay 800$+ for a limited Oculus Rift copycat? Not too sure... it is wireless though... that's very cool...
Any thoughts on community support? I know we (consumers) sometimes focus only on the negatives when our expectations weren't met but with the comments about the 4 not being much of a step up from the 3, do you think this will hurt the support? The 3 seems to have a great base.
I will be coming from the S3, so any phone I get will be a big upgrade for me. Now there seems to be a question about whether the difference in price of buying a 4 instead of a 3 should be considered. The G3 can be had WAY cheap right now as well.
my reason? my note 1 need to retire
Buying it for its amazing hardware
interested on the Quad HD as welll as the 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes super charge fast makes me want to buy it need a fast charging device like Note 4
I don't have even a single note. That's the reason enough
arm v8, metal, display
Just buying it bcoz big fan of note series and love to contribute something I can.

This device is going to be fantastic. Touchwiz has been improving all this time and the note4 can only be better than the note3 IMO.
phone too old time to change

Hey Doc will we getting exynos version like always? Is it a worthy upgrade from Note 3?What will you do of yours Note 3
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There are two version so likely Samsung will keep same policy and promote exynos for India.
I will go with majority. I regret purchasing exynos last time bcoz of smaller community. Mostly purchasing SD then I will go with it. Regarding worthy update, according specification leaked it shows not much upgraded but as I said above I am fan of note series so will update as soon as available.
If daughter like to keep note3 then will give it to her otherwise will sell it.

I am 100% sure that doc is getting his note4 may be even note edge.
Obviously we will be getting exynos processor no doubt.
In terms of upgrade its sure for an upgrade but as you own note 3 I would suggest you to wait till price drops or if your well enough to bare the expenses you may ho ahead.
I am sure all the n4 features will soon be ported for your device in no time as soon as the sammobile makes the dump available.
So wait for setime and take a wise desicion as I own a note 2 I am surely gonna upgrade to n4.

Though I want to get the Note 4 or Edge on Day 1, I will most likely wait until the first price drop or BOGO deal comes around. Upgrading from the S3, there are numerous reasons to upgrade the Note line.

Hey XDA
Brief background, want to make this small post here.
Had the S4 for a year, actually enjoyed it for what it was worth, wanted out as soon as we knew for sure there was no root. Stock Touchwiz was just terrible on the 4.
I've never had the chance to own a Nexus device before, my carrier upgrades always came just before the Nexus devices were released, and I've been so ready to upgrade when it comes I jump on it.
This time around I stuck with my G3 for a while. I love this phone. I'm ready for new, and the phones coming out this year are not quite "notable"
I really have my eyes on the Nexus 6P - but US carriers not selling it means I have a decision to make. Got my dad the Note 4 earlier this year, he likes it. I like it the little bit I've played with it. I feel I could even use the Note 5 to replace my notebook in class for notes. ATT bootloader seems to be like the S4. Not much will come of bootloader unlocks with this phone.. It appears.
------
So I will upgrade through ATT, probably to the Note 5. Question is - stay with the Note 5 and learn to love it, despite the experiences I've had with Samsung, or flip it unopened on CL and order up the N6P....??
I really do not want a subpar camera to the G3, nor do I want a dull screen. Both devices seem on par, both no SD, battery not removable on the Note... Cameras both good..
Anyone here want the Nexus 6P?! Willing to get rid of your Note 5 for it?
The 6P looks sweet (literally and figuratively) but I'll never buy a smartphone with the Snapdragon 810. I already have a stove.
If i had a real need for a second phone, Nexus 6P will be my choice
I like Note5 as my main phone, S pen is really helpful, and makes you smart ?
Sent from my SM-N920C using Tapatalk
I see. Can anyone here tell me if it's valid to think you could completely replace a notebook and take notes in an 8 hour class day with the n5?

The phone hasn't even come out yet, wait until someone can review it. There are phones with the chip that heat up a lot, and some that don't heat at all.

I've had the Note 5 for a few weeks now, it is an excellent all-around Android phone.
I think the Nexus 6p looks great too, has pros and cons like any phone.
I think the Note 5 is the better all-around device and is the premier flagship Android phone of 2015.
I don't think you could sit and take notes for 8 hours on this phone. Lol. Maybe you could, maybe not. I would never want to do that.
The Nexus 6p is using the SnapDragon 810 version 2.1 - heat issues have "supposedly" been resolved on that version.
Some things to consider with AT&T:
1) You can't root but you can use Samsung Pay
2) Resale value on AT&T branded Samsung phones (Android in general) are lower than other models like T-Mobile, due to the locked bootloader, they usually sell for less/resale for less.
So I don't think you want to take a risk and purchase the phone from them, only to sell it for less.
Worst come to worst, try it out, they should give you 14 days to try it and return it. Something like that.

True and true. I may end up doing that. Will be end of this month or next, don't want to make a payment to pay off my G3, got 4 months left but they usually let you swap with 2 left.
I want to try the N5, the S6 edge has a brilliant screen but not for me.
I just really have my heart set on this N6P. If I don't like what I get with the Note5 I may return it for a iPhone6S and sell that on CL. Should get more $$$ for it. Overnight myself a N6P and I'll be good to go.

It depends if you want stock Android or not. That's all it really comes down to cause the Note 5 has everything else the 6P has for the most part.
I personally can't stand stock Android, so I'm sticking with the Note 5. Stock Android is insanely boring and featureless compared to Touchwiz. And the Note 5 has the S-Pen.

Indeed. That's true. I love vanilla Android. I wish the OnePlus 2 was a bit better... I'd sweep that in a heartbeat.
Touchwiz in my experience has been very Ram consuming and slow with the amazing hardware Samsung has brought to the table. It ruins the phone in my opinion. If course, the Note typically has better optimized software and useful features.
I lean more and more to the n6p every time I look at it. But again, ATT doesn't sell. Going to really suck

I agree, I think somewhere along the line, maybe around lollipop, I started to enjoy the touchwiz version more because of all the useful features built in to the OS.

I've had the Note 3, 4 and now 5. In my opinion, each iteration is slowly getting refined to be a better version compared to the last. If they keep this up, all the old stereotypes about touchwiz will eventually be obsolete.

Old stereotypes are still there... yeah there's less bloatware but have you seen the RAM management on the Note5? Shameful.
Now that the V10 is out I would also consider that as an option. It looks fantastic.

I think RAM management can easily be fixed with a software update.
The Note 5 - even with this "RAM management" issue - is still the fastest, smoothest Note I've used. Hands down!
Software was never a strong suite for Samsung, however, they are learning. Fast enough for some people, slow for others.
It should only get better...

Saw it... Not interested in the front screen thing, seems a bit gimicky...
But... Could be neat. I don't think I will wait that long until I upgrade.

Yeah, yet the track record shows Samsung will not upgrade the software's RAM consumption near as much as they could. They just don't have our interests at heart, rather the general public. After all we are a minority on XDA.
May settle for the Note5, will have to find time to go play with one in the store soon..
Otherwise I'll flip an iPhone 6S for the N6P... Ugh.

I say no. It may just be my writing, but I can only fit maybe 4-5 legible words across the screen in portrait mode, which makes for a lot of +New notes, or one lonnnnnnng one.
I've had my fun with it, but I am realizing it's just not convenient to try and pack a tablet into a phone, and use a phablet as a phone. I am now leaning more towards having a tablet for actual writing on, and a phone I can use easily in one hand for texting/emailing/calling.
