Security bug - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all. I discovered a very annoying bug in the system. If you switch on the phone without unlocking it and go to user you find guest user and the link to "other options". If you follow this link you go inside the settings and the phone is.... Unlocked!!!!!

Annoying FRF 91 problems

Hey guys i recently updated to FRF91 manually ( stock google update ) and i am facing a couple of annoying glitches.... the purpose of this thread is to have a centralized list of all the problems and workarounds hopefully:
Flash: Well before FRF91 i had FRF50B in which i had an option ( in the browser settings ) to turn flash off or on demand.... Now its missing in FRF91
Messaging: firstly in conversation threads my picture is not shown and i cant figure out a way to get it to show my picture ... by the way it was ok on 2.1
Market: Market is very very very slow even on wifi .... Plus whenever i uninstall or install an application it gets stuck on the progress bar ( when u go to an app's description page and click on install it shows the progress bar which shows the download progress and once downloaded it shows install progress and thats where it gets stuck, even after the application has been installed.
Browser: Browser also seems a bit patchy.
Any one of you all facing any of these problems ?????
Flash (or actually, browser settings): are just in the same place.
Messaging: I think it was mentioned on the forum, together with solution - but don't remember the thread.
Market: it was mentioned 10000 times on the forum, together with solutions. The easiest of them is to clear all Market data and cache in App management. It flies.
Browser is great and fast as hell. The only thing it's missing is the need to enter "about:debug" to get to UAString setting. I'm waiting for someone to recompile it, leaving the debug settings always on.
Thanks Jack. I really apologize for my ignorance.
I cant find the flash settings in brwser my friend help me out
I have sporadic issues where the images do not download for MMS.
It happens with a variety of people on a multiple incoming networks.
I didn't have the issue pre update

Open browser, then:
Menu/More/Settings/Enable Plug-ins
Select Always on/On demand/Off
The issue with your picture not being displayed in messaging is down to your phone number being programmed on the sim card.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Status. If "My Phone Number" shows as unknown then the phone is unable to recognise your number against your Facebook profile hence why nothing shows.
My understanding is that the phone reads this info direct from the SIM card so perhaps a SIM update from your network provider will solve this. Alternativly inset your SIM card into a "dumb" phone and it should let you change the number programmed on the SIM card. Android cannot do this for some reason (although ive heard the iPhone can!)

Ok i have discovered another issue. The delivery reports dont seem to work. But that was a problem on FRF85B as well.... When you long press a text message and check delivery report it keeps saying "pending " even though the other person has already recieved it ... any work arounds ????
Also my market issue is still there
"I have a funny issue with my exchange. When i get a new mail, i get a notification on my N1. But even after i have read that email on my PC.The notification doesnt go away .... and when i check my phone after some time i think i have recieved a new email but its only notification of old one .... is there a workaround for that guys ?"
I have this same issue that you have, but on a HTC Desire with custom Froyo ROMs. I don't remember it being a problem with the stock ROM, but on a Desire this stock ROM includes HTC Sense which I think does its own Exchange stuff, rather than use the Android Exchange apps.

[Q] Use secure credentials - unchecked after reboot

My corporate WiFi uses a personal certificate for 802.1x authentication.
It works if the setting "Location and security > Use secure credentials" is checked.
The problem is, after rebooting, that option is always unchecked. When I re-enable it, it prompts for the security store password and all is good.
So, is there anyway to make the "Use secure credentials" setting permanent even after a reboot?

I’m experiencing the same problem. Have you found a resolution?
I also have this problem, only on a Desire. Is there a solution yet?
Howdy!
I know I am late to the party.
I also have this problem.
Using an HTC Sensation, with cyanogenmod 7.1 alpha10, if that matters.
Where in the filesystem should these kind of options be stored?

Apologies if I misunderstood you, but, are you asking for access to secure store without the password?
Simply, alternative (not predicted by Samsung I presume) is that each boot you'd be asked for a password... and this is not a bug, that when your phone will be stolen, someone directly after reboot will have access to your company's WiFi, I think.
same problem
pre-rooted shipped stock ROM.
everytime rebooted, the "use secure credentials" unchecked automatically.
And i must check it again so i can use the power button to poweroff the phone.

I'm having this headache too, and for the reasons spamtrash listed above - you don't want it to automatically use the secure credentials.
What would be nice though (and what I could use a hand trying to figure out): Is getting the phone to prompt you for the secure login on boot, or prompt you for the login the first time it attempts to connect to the secure network. I turn my WiFi on from a homescreen widget - so I'm not in the WiFi screens to see the credential login box.
same problem here, using ICS (CM9) and CM7 latest nightly build.

[Q] Accessibility services - unable to turn on?

Seems totally random, but when attempting to activate an accessibility service (settings > accessibility), after toggling the switch to on, a pop-up displays asking if you would like to activate the selected service and you have options of 'cancel' and 'ok' - none of them will allow me to hit 'ok' but 'cancel' works just fine! I'm clueless on this, but fear that it's probably something silly that i've overlooked. I'm on stock rooted 5.1 (LMY47D) with Franco r21 kernel. I initially had a similar issue with SuperSU and root requests - it wouldn't let me grant OR deny access to anything, but a bit of digging lead me to the 'tapjacking protection' feature in the settings - i'm wondering if this issue is something similar?! i searched around a bit but wasn't turning up anything useful - anyone have any good ideas?! all i want is LastPass to be allowed to form fill my passwords!!

Please help

So I've just gotten a P8 Lite with EMUI 4.0 and Android 6.0 installed as a replacement phone from the store for a couple of weeks probably.. And I just noticed that it doesn't have the "Privacy Protection" settings, so I can't add a guest user / second account on the same phone? Is this something that has to be activated or is there a workaround? It should be under Settings > Advanced Settings > Security > Privacy Protection but that last option just isn't there...
Is there any communication about WHY they took out this function? Googled a bit but didn't find anything useful, besides some other frustrated people but no real answers as to why it has disappeared or possibly how to work around?
Why? I don't know. It's Huawei!!
As for the solution, check this thread - chapter 10 (if you mmeet the prerequisites) ....

No more dev. options after factory reset

I got this note 8 new unlocked no carrier etc, first day I owned it did upgrade from 7 --> 8. No issues but seemed laggy I had alot of apps and played with som3 settings, after getting a good feel for how I wanted this device configured long term I decided on factory reset.
Since then, dev. Options is gone. Yes I tap the tappy thing 7 to 100 times and get message "you are now developer" but is a lie. No such option. Only empty longing where should be. Do again and message "already developer" another lie.
This device junk?

Best bet is to try resetting one more time. Can you post a screenshot of your settings page ?

So, indeed, I did try to factory reset again, same result. I took screen shots but I cant post them up just yet, forum rules, but all they show is android telling me that dev. options already enabled, then a shot of the place where dev. Options should be but is not.
If I could hazard a guess, and I am not by any means as savvy with this as most of you, but here is what I have noticed and suspect:
I got this device from rent a center new with android 7. RAC uses admin software to lock you out if you dont pay, but I have never "run into" that software or seen an effect due to it. On android 7, I had dev options. I also had an LG G6 from RAC on android 7, same thing no issues and had dev options.
Then upgrade the Note8 to Oreo, great, love it... still had dev options. Then reset a few weeks later as described above, and no more dev options.
Here is the differences I have noticed:
When going through initial device setup on android 8, it has a Knox Configuration process that I didnt see when initializing same device but android 7.
Also, there is more Knox software than there was before. For example, "KC Client" is a new app in my list after this reset. I could be mistaken though, I wasnt exactly looking out for such changes.
Is it possibke that Knox is blocking dev options? If so, this device will be going back to RAC post haste!
I've run into the same problem and mine is from RAC as well.

A few people have had similar problems I saw here and here.
upload screenshots of your settings and About Phone page on linx.li then paste the links to them here.
Have you applied the OTA updates since factory resetting? I would try to apply any updates you can and
Did you clear caches after doing factory reset? Long shot but it might help
To clear your Cache go to to Settings > Device Maintenance > Storage > Click menu (three dots top right) > Storage Settings > Internal Storage > Cached Data > Clear
Then do the Dalvik Cache: Power Phone completely off > Hold down Power, Bixby, and Up Volume button until phone powers on > Keep holding Bixby and Volume up untul recovery screen pops up > Use volume buttons to navigate to wipe cache partition > Press volume to select Wipe cache partition > Select Yes > reboot
With an unlocked phone can't you just put it in download mode and flash twrp? Or are you not familiar with that process?

DId you do the same process? 7 > Oreo > Back to 7 and then no dev options? Or what happened
No I didn't. I just updated to oreo via ota
Was able to access developer options using an app from the play store but as you can see from this screenshot OEM unlock is not clickable. Any ideas on how to circumvent this?
