Hello ,
i bought samsung galaxy s5 at&t model a few days ago and i want to root it and flash new cm13 , boot i cant find anywhere how it can be rooted. its on 5.1.1 firmware. i was thinking , is it possible to downgrade kernel with odin and then root with towelroot ? i am just afraid of bricking my phone.
No, it's not possible to root this phone on Kitkat.
I just purchased a Galaxy S5 unlocked, but its an at&t model (g900a, shows at&t logo on boot, has at&t bloatware). I live in New Zealand so I can not use an at&t sim and update to the latest firmware (ph4?). Im stuck on g900aucu4coi5 and I want to update, and I have found a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/galaxy-s5-android-version-6-0-1-t3419016
Can I just flash ph4 with odin 3.11.1 and I will be fine? No chance of brick or tripping knox (assuming i follow instructions correctly)? Also is there a way I can debrand my s5 and give it a stock s5 rom w/out the at&t crap without tripping knox?
This may seem like a noob question but I have followed instructions to the letter while flashing roms on a galaxy trend plus and a galaxy y duos, and encountered problems down the road which led to bootloops. I assume this was because the tools made for them were still in beta for these devices were not popular, but I still want to be safe and keep my new s5 alive.
Thx

You should be able to go up to PH4 using ODIN no problem.
And about the bloatware... As soon as we find a way to root or preroot Marshmallow we'll probably get some debloated ROMs up, but first we have to find a way to preroot (I'm working on it but it's taking the back burner for a bit while I work on other ROMs so anyone is welcome to give it a try)

Yes, and no. It updated, started overheating and the battery caught fire. Rip.
I'm in the same boat as I have an ATT S5 with Lollipop and tried the above method w/Odin and it is now a brick, stuck on the ATT logo.
Are there any working accessible sources fore the ATT stock Firmware for Lollipop in order to rollback this MM update? I've been looking and have found none.
Can anyone point me to a right thread to install recovery and root on Stock Firmware N910TUVU2DOK2 Tmobile Note 4?
I tried the method on this thread and it didn't work for me.
Here"s the link it apply the same procedure https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...t-t3-marshmallow-pe3-guide-t3406870?nocache=1
Note 4 N910T3 running [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][Nougat] Resurrection Remix for trltetmo - Note 4
Has anyone had any issue with Odin failing when you try to downgrade the boot-loader?
The Current boot loader is EPK2 and I'm trying to downgrade to EPE3
Thanks everyone
Everybody that uploading the new firmware always warning you that downgrade is not possible if you have Note 4 N910T3 but I never heard somebody that has Note 4 N910T3 brick their phone either. the only thing I heard is about EFS partition went wrong or ddi : mmc_read failed. hope somebody will come up
Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N9500 HK variant with the latest Firmware and security patch
I bought it since 1 month. eagerly waiting for installing TWRRP and rooting it using Supersu
I tried the following TWRPs through Odin
1-Galaxy Note 8 N9500 Unofficial TWRP Android Nougat 7.1.1.tar
2-Galaxy_note_8_twrp-3.1.1-0-greatlte.img.tar
3-N9500%20Nougat%207%201%201%20Unofficial%20TWRP.tar
4-N9500_TWRP_3.1.1-0.tar
5-N9500+Nougat+7+1+1+Unofficial+TWRP.tar
All these when installed through ODIN showed "PASSED" in Odin. but failed to install in the phone, I can not reboot into recovery.
Then I got the following 2 TWRPs
6-N8-TWRP-835-3.1.1-1-greatqltechn.img.tar
7-N9500_TWRP_3.1.1-0.tar
Both installed , I swiped for system modification, then wiped to factory reset, installed SuperSU, but failed to reboot into system. it is bootlooped in recovery , I have to flash my stockrom to recover the phone.
So if anybody have the knowledge how to install the correct TWRP and root this variant , kindly help me and others who are in the same situation. It will be great help if they can provide the links for downloading the necessary files
Thanking You all very much
