Hi! I need to change my phone to Nexus and I have simple question. I need good front face camera and my question is.. the Nexus 6 front face camera is better than iPhone 6/6plus front face camera? And when I need good front camera I should buy Nexus 6 or maybe 5X? What do you think..

In terms of camera quality(rear and front both), nexus phones always been behind of iPhone,Samsung and LG.
http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_6-6378.php
Primary 8 MP, f/2.2, 29mm, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, check quality
Features 1/3" sensor size, 1.5 µm pixel size, touch focus, geo-tagging, face/smile detection, HDR (photo/panorama)
Video [email protected], [email protected], check quality
Secondary 1.2 MP, f/2.2, 31mm, [email protected], face detection, HDR, FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular
Or wait for nexus marlin/sailfish, if the rumours right they will have a 8mp front cam.

I saw video comparison on yt (n6 vs ip6+ front cameras) and n6 camera is very good for selfies but ip6 is better. So I should buy n6, what do you think?

Get a nexus 6p, both front and rear cameras surpass the N6 and ip6.

Just today I was in my sisters graduation... tried to take 3 consecutive photos with HDR and the stupid camera became so slow I couldn't continue. Right now I'm totally stock.

As a Nexus fan, this would be my best option. The Iphone do works great and shoots great and fast photos, but are extremely expensive. Right now the IP6 is a phone that is almost two years old, so I'd rather wait a few days until the new nexus (or Pixel) come out and get the Nexus 6P cheaper.
Yup, you can already find the 6p for a good price on used market. Once new nexus/pixel is out that price will drop even more. Oct 4 is the rumored unveiling so wait a few weeks if u can to get an even better deal on 6p.

Impressive stuff, nice to hear a review from someone who knows his subject.
The quality of the camera seems very good! I imagined it would be much worse than that.
Now I am ready to finally buy the phone myself.

finally someone using the camera who knows what they are talking about. Its hard for me to listen to people talk about camera quality when you arent sure they know what f stop is
Good stuff, thanks! Last year when the GNex had a 5 mill mp camera on it, the threads about it "only" being 5 got really really old!
Thanks for this.

So, I've been thinking about getting the Nexus 4 for my wife as a replacement for Sony point-and-shoot (DSC-W90). How is this camera going to compare to that? I know its no DSLR, but if she's been happy with the point-and-shoot, will this be a sufficient replacement?

Nope. The optics in a standalone point and shoot are much bigger than what's in the Nexus 4 and will get more details and sharper and more options. It's no comparison.
Also, the DSC-W90 (and nearly all point and shoot cameras) have optical zoom, which almost no phone cameras have. Your current camera is much better than the Nexus 4 for photography.

"Sufficient"? Maybe. Depends on what she does with the snaps. If she just wants to email a small to mid sized pic then I'm sure it would be fine. I cant remember the last time I used my camera and I've been plenty happy. I'd say the option of having a camera with you at all times trumps the rest!
Thanks that was impressive. However! I noticed that the links for the mobile ran a lot smoother than the regular links. Any idea why this was?

Btw, great videos to OP.
Is there any possibility of swapping original Nexus 4 camera for that one in LG G2 or that one in Nexus 5. Taking out drivers, camera software from LG G2 rom and mounting it in the Nexus 4 roms. Is there big differences in camera dimensions and are the motherboard pin-stics the same?

n5 camera will work for us for sure. Just wait and see..
I dont´t think that it is so easy to replace hardware. Another camera might have a different size and wont fit into another phone. The inside of the phone is designed to fit everything perfect together in few space. Espacially the N5 cam looks bigger on the leaked pics.
Wouldn't it be easier to upgrade your phone? I'm sure after you have ruined your phone trying to de-solder and solder the new camera on you will agree.

Oh wait, we are talking about hardware, my bad, sorry.
Then you can buy a nikon reflex camera and use some superglue to paste it in the top of your n4, it is easier and u have guaranteed the best pics.
The camera from a N5 or G2 will more than likely not fit since its totally different hardware. But the 13mp cam from the Optimus will fit.

Just buy a new phone. I recommend this one:

(Turn subs on).
Rather than butchering your phone, Sony's external lens would give you the best possible SLR quality photos.

Forget about it, it's troublesome on many levels. Sensor and ISP won't match, drivers and apps would need rework and the lens would give further trouble. For better camera performance you need a better device.

The camera on the optimus g compared to the nex5 is worlds apart
N5:
-No touch to focus during video
-Significant frames drop in low light during video
...
I wouldn't say all the way.

With the 257 update, the z1 as a camera phone is making me a very satisfied owner. I love how fast the camera works, and how it does Not lag when you move the camera around. Unlike the note 3, s4, g2, nexus 5.

it is a really nice review. Pretty much confirming what we all have been complaining about (low light shots). It got the worst score of all tests (apart from the panorama), and if it got high score, then it would be shoulder to shoulder with the Lumia overall score. But yeah, I am happy with the Z1 camera but I hope the low light issue is resolved with the next update.
I am not sure what is the problem with the panorama shot, I have never tried it, I will try it and see how it goes
Surely the Samsung Galaxy zoom is the best Android Camera phone?
z1 takes fantastic pics but i thought the Galaxy Zoom is a proper camera with a phone glued onto it.
although am sure the z1 trumps it in pretty much every other aspect

Hey guys. I just recently edged up early to a turbo w/ the intention of going to the nexus 6 within 14 days (the promo was only for the turbo at the time). But what I have found is that the turbo's camera really isn't that great, crispness wise, and i am wondering how the nexus 6 camera is since they are both motorola even though the turbo is 21mp.
I know the 6 has the "breathing" during video problem too...i'm contemplating going w/ note 4 but i HATE that it doesn't have root!!

I just puked a little when i heard note 4.
I am no camera buff so dont take my word for it but i think the pictures are fine. I think it gets very positive reviews in the camera aspect. Have you goggled for proper reviews?
I haven't seen too many droid turbo photos but I think I know what you mean. the Nexus 6 takes a pretty nice photo but one at a time. There is no burst. There is no slow-mo video video. You just won't find many of the niceties you might find on a Samsung device.
HDR it does pretty well. I believe the app is lacking but the hardware is pretty good.

Definitely... I just can't find much comparing these two specifically. and since I have the turbo i was curious how it matched up. so far, my old g2 takes better photos than the turbo does, albeit slower.

Yes I would love to hear what app has burst, slow motion video, syncs the camera to the flash correctly and still functions as well as a camera without focusing/hunting problems.
I currently have FV5, manual camera, perfectly clear, L camera, and the crappy stock one.

Still think a company that literally makes billions of dollars a quarter could come up with a better default camera for their flagship phone. [emoji35]
