I have this kindle fire hd that only boots and has twrp on it. I can't get it to mount to my computer to try fixes of copying update.zip or anything . This was bought from a refurbished site by my grandma when I got it only tarp boots and there is no kindle system otherwise. It came this way from were ever she ordered it so I have no clue what's been done too it. Any advice to be able to get it working as a normal kindle again would be appreciated. My computer finds it but no drivers when plugged in also.

That's not a Fire HD 7, but probably a Kindle Fire HD 7,
Oh yes this article two different devices
I believe for your model the only option left is a Fast boot cable, you can build one or buy on eBay

If your computer finds it, it's already a great step
What's seen when you connect your device in the device manager?

Hello Guys!
I currently own a Kindle Fire 7" HD 7.4.6(Rooted) but I have a little problem getting my kindle to show up on 'My Computer' (Trying to transfer some music to my device) I have looked everywhere for this one specific question that I cant find an answer to hopefully it could be solved here... Anyways before my device was rooted Windows couldn't detect the device plugged in but here is the confusing part after I found out about rooting, I went on to try to do it and I managed to successfully root the kindle (following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351201) installed the ADB drivers and yes "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31" program did detect my Kindle and rooted it which is weird because I mean Windows couldnt detect my kindle but that program did? I can plug in my kindle and it is detected as an ADB and even shows up in my device manager, but my question is, how do I get my kindle to be recognized so I can manage it (i.e. adding music/pictures) Another weird thing is that yes my kindle is detected but you know the sound that Windows makes when you plug something in via USB? Well when I plug in my kindle that sound is different I dont know if it has anything to do with this problem... Well that is my question hopefully someone will come to save the day!
Is the kindle listed under portable devices in the device manager?

Plug your Kindle Fire HD in to USB port. Go to your device management. Look for the driver that is being detected right now. Right click on it and click and choose properties. Click to uninstall the driver. Now unplug the KFHD and plug it back in. Let the driver install. This should fix it. Restarting your computer after uninstalling the driver might be tried as well. removing the root hubs is sometimes necessary as well.
First off I'm not a total "Newb" with kindles, but am new to root/restoring KDF's. That said here's my problem: bought on eBay a bricked KDF HD to restore, did some reading got some root/restore programs, made a Factory/FastBoot cable, but cant get the computer to recognize the kindle in fastboot. The first gen KDF HD 7" (3rd gen fire) behavior: kindle logo flashes once shimmers slow once then shimmers fast and will do so till battery is dead.
That said. The problem I cant overcome is that windows does not recognize and fails to load drivers (which i did get the most up to date ones) so i cant get any of the root/restore programs find the KDF.
Please, this is my last hope before i have to shell out more cash to have someone else fix it, and if they cant i still shell out cash

Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 if your tablet stays in fastboot, you're good to run the bat . You can set an environment path with the sdk package but the bat tool will push the images for you.

I loaded the wrong boot loader on to my 7" kindle fire HD. Now it's dead. No power, nothing. I know some people were trying to find a solution but I haven't found anything. Please help!

There may or may not be a way to fix it with some soldering, sdcard reader and a Linux live cd, i haven't been as active in the community lately so im not sure how the efforts went with the 7" model, seems like we had it working on all the models except that particular one last i checked. Outside of that a hardbrick is not recoverable.
Having spent two days on this I must ask for help please. I'm an Android novice.
Kindle FireHD 7" stuck on animated white and orange Fire HD splash screen.
I have purchased a Fastboot cable and it boots into, and is recognised in, Fastboot.
It's seen in Windows 7 Device Manager as Kindle Fire - ADB Composite device.
All seems OK, but here's the problem:
I can't get it to be recognised by ADB - 'No Device Detected'
The files that I think I need are in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
however the site hosting the files is defunct and I can't find them anywhere!
I've managed once or twice to get it to 'Kindle is upgrading - Starting Applications' but it just sits there for hours. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware fault?
Could anyone provide me with the files in that thread above and a few pointers please?
Many thanks
What version of the kindle do you have?

Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012 (I think) The one with the shiny stripe across the back
If I remember correctly, adb will not recognize your device when you are connected to fastboot. The only commands you can use are the fastboot commands.
Hey Guys,
I spent today trying to root my Kindle Fire HD 7, 4th gen (i think). After trying for ages it coudnt get it work so i decided to give up. when shutting it down in the recovery mode screen, i hit the power button while it was over the option reboot bootloader or something like that.
Now the Kindle will not turn and when i plug it into my pc, it is showing as an HTC Dream.
What i want to know have i broken it completely or is there away i can undo what i have done.
I updated my fire to os 5 and my windows operating system is 10.
cheers.
