"android auto" not compatible smartphone - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

In my "P9 Plus" does not work "Android Auto".
It is easy to install.
When you start the app, the error message "not compatible smartphone".
Where is the mistake?

Same here..

And as this isnt a "fault" with the £500 stereo I just bought, I am unable to return it.. Grrr....

As far as I know you have to be on B181 for Android Auto to work.

[Q] Can I use "Got another device" settings transfer after initial setup?

I've got a new SM-910T with Android 6.0.1 (N910TUVS2EQB1) stock firmware
The first-time setup offers the Google "Got another device" NFC transfer.
But my current phone with Android 5.1.1 (N910TUVU2DOK2) won't find any "nearby devices" from Google Setup.
Can I skip over the "Got another device" and complete the initial setup on the new phone, and then come back and try that function later?
If so, where do I find it?

Here's the issue:
It does nothing with the suggested back-to-back NFC alone. On the new phone, I select Try another Way.
The old phone says searching for devices for a while, then eventually "no devices found"
If I put them back to back, I get a sound and the old phone says Touch to beam '.
Then it goes back to "searching for devices" and soon "no devices found"
When trying multiple times, sometimes the NFC position gives the message "Connecting To Device..."
That displays for a few seconds. Then a small notification "Sorry something went wrong".
Then it goes back to "searching for devices" and soon "no devices found".
OK - I'm moving on.
Sadly, a common situation --- a new "feature" introduced -- Doesn't work -- no documentation - no explanation.
I'll just keep using Titanium Backup!

I just got handed an ex-staff member's VIE-L09... what next?

I haven't used a Huawei phone since news that Nokia was about to dominate the market with Microsoft Lumina (LOL).
I have 1 week to have the phone ready for someone else to take it back out in the field.

1/ So i'm thinking the first thing is to reformat the P9-Plus to get around the fact that his manager didn't seem to get the screen-PIN on his last day.
- Anyone willing to throw pointers here? Most phones I just hold power+volume on boot - but this one goes to an EMUI menu which asks to "download and update" or "restart"... it always "fails to connect" with no option to reformat.
2/ Which OS is recommended? I had the epic Sony Playstation phone, but was silly enough to update to Android 4... little did I know this NERFed half the features and made it slow. I had to backdate it.
- Do I just update to the latest OTA that is offered and leave-it-be? Our Microsoft Office will be sandboxed, so general OS security is less of a concern - performance matters most, with general features to keep the sales-rep happy coming in second-place.
3/ Do any of you know in advance if this is going to be sim-locked? I can see ads for questionable sim-unlock software which suggests it will be.
Quick update:
Trying to mash various button combinations on boot - one of the times it said "updating" with an orbiting dot...
The phone rebooted once or twice and then I was back at the lock screen.
I also double-checked the error message in EMUI: "Getting package info failed. connected to WiFi: [my wifi]... <Change> ... <Cancel>"
change just lets me change the Wifi hotspot (none work), and cancel just goes back to the main menu:
""Download latest version and recovery""
"Reboot"
"Shutdown"
One of the times I ended up in "FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE"
Please connect Usb Cable and Open Hisuite
Phone = Locked
FRP = Lock

So I guess that will be my next stop is putting some bloatware on my PC to see if I can wipe it from there

Android 10 - Android Auto "this internet connection isn't reliable at the moment"

Android 10 - Android Auto "this internet connection isn't reliable at the moment"
EDIT - According to THIS Android Auto support thread it's been reported and is being worked on.
-----
I've got an AT&T locked Note 9 (SM-N960U). I recently updated to Android 10 via Odin using the CCT variant of DTA4 build. The update worked fine but afterwards I noticed that if I try to compose a message (new message or reply, Hangouts or SMS) in Android Auto it will work OK up to the "do you want to send it or change it" part and then it IMMEDIATELY gives a quick beep and says "this internet connection isn't reliable at the moment". The signal is fine from all I can see.
I've tried clearing cache on Play services and Android Auto with no luck. Today I went all in and did a factory reset in case it was an issue with the upgrade vs a fresh install. No luck, same error. I can use Assistant on the phone to compose/send messages successfully. I've also tried being on wifi vs being on a strong 4G LTE signal, same failure.
I found a mention HERE of someone solving it by removing GBoard. I didn't have that installed, but I did try disabling Google Voice Input under the keyboard section to no avail.
For grins I tried posting at the AA help site HERE but I figured this audience might be better equipped to help. Any ideas?
If it matters, the car is a 2018 Volvo S90, but there's been no changes to the car's software in this time so I don't suspect is as the cause.
Thanks!

Samsung Pay Watch Plug-in: Access Denied

Hello. I know this is a problem that many have had and many have posted about but there are so many different varieties of the error and so many different solutions I cannot figure out what solution applied to what problem. Also, I find it difficult to track what solutions work on what versions of things.
I am getting this "Access Denied" message on my phone within the Samsung Wear app when I click on the Samsung Pay app.
I do NOT have the Samsung Pay app on my phone, nor to I need it. Just want it working on my watch.
The watch is a Watch3, Tizen 5.5.
The phone is LineageOS 16 with root and Developer Options and USB Debugging disabled.
Everything else works, including ECG and BP, thought I did have to use a Samsung Health Monitor app where the system root check was disabled.
Is it possible to disable the check in the Samsung Pay, app, too?
I think probably no one will be able to give me solution to my particular problem because I probably have not given enough details and I would know what else I might need to give.
Maybe my most important question is:
When I do get the "Access Denied" error, is there any log I where I could see what check it failed that cause it to give that error?
I don't care about using "Samsung Pay" on my phone (I can use Google Pay instead which works fine), BUT is the "Samsung Pay" apk not installing on my phone the exact same problem as the "Samsung Pay Watch 3 Plug-In" not opening? If I go though all the "fixes" for "Samsung Pay" on the internet would those work for the "Samsung Pay Watch 3 Plug-In", too?
1) Was it that it thinks my phone it rooted? If not, then I could stop fiddling with Magisk Hide. I was using LineageOS before just fine without it.
2) Is it Knox failure? If so, then I would have to figure out how that is possible on LineageOS.
3) Is it some SafetyNet thing? Because Magisk tells me that passes.
4) If none of the above, then what? (this is what I was hoping some error log would tell me)
I do have a another phone, a Moto Z4, on which everything, including Samsumg Pay on my Watch, works just fine.
Thanks.

How to remove "Device Projection Privacy Consent" message?

Hi all. When I connect my new phone (Pixel 6a) to my car (Vauxhall Astra), I get the "Device Projection Privacy Consent" message on the display. Once I press "continue", then android Auto opens and it's working fine. However, this message comes up every time I connect my phone. My partners phone (same model) only showed this message the first time, and now Android Auto connects automatically.
Anyone got any idea why I get this message every single time I connect, and what I can do about it? I've no idea where the setting for this would be stored.
Thanks for any help,
Lee
