Have you seen this? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the Sprint Note 4, but this is where I spend my time.
So have you seen these new phones? Crazy.

Looks like Vaporware, I would bet that they will disappear with investors and preorder money and file bankruptcy.

Is anyone else annoyed that it hasn't sold out yet?

I just ordered my 32GB black in the UK coming from a Galaxy S1.
I heard from you guys talking about how the Nexus 4 sold out before it was even officially announced on the play store. So is anyone else annoyed that the white ones haven't sold you yet? Or has google just created a massive supply this time?
why do you care if it sold out or not? you got yours already.

Why on earth would you be annoyed that it's not sold out?
I could totally understand being annoyed if it HAD sold out, but complaining that people are actually able to place orders...!?
It sold out in Canada in 27 mins...

Because he's selfish and wanted one for himself -- but didn't want anyone else to get one for months. So, he could taunt his friends and enemies by waving his wonderful Nexus 5 in their faces.
Hasn't sold out in the U.S., but the shipping date is slipping. Mine is Nov. 5, but others are Nov. 8.
be thankful everyone is able to order...
that there is enough in stock...
that Google is not trying to create hype by being OOS.. like apple
I missed the release and thought it would be available tomorrow morning so very happy they did not sell out in minutes, 32gb black nexus on the way

You're annoyed that you won't be able to make some quick cash price gouging people for the holidays? Yes that is too bad. Maybe cancel those extra orders already?
Interesting that they had enough stock for the USA but not enough for Canada. Oh well.
People's emotional state isn't really a relevant discussion for XDA

Lack of advertisement from phone carriers for note 4

I have noticed a general lack of advertisement for the Note 4, and I am not sure why. I find that very strange that Phone carriers do not place any effort in advertising the Note 4 at all.
I just checked the sprint website, and noticed the big ad for the IPhone 6, but nothing for the Note 4.
T-Mobile, Verizon, MetroPCS? Same thing. Yet, except for MetroPCS, they all have an add for the IPhone 6.
Only ATT has an ad on the fifth slide about the Note 4.
Why would these carriers not advertise the Note 4?
I noticed the same behavior last year
It's all G3 and iPhone. Samsung needs to give the dollars to the carriers for them to bother. That is mainly how it works. The issue is more on Samsung than the carriers.
T-mobile had a slide up for it a few days ago, leading to a pre-registration page. Maybe it was replaced by the iPhone slide.

people that buy note 4 dont need advertising. people that buy that big of a phone go in looking for it
How can they advertise when nobody seems to have a price or shipping date for these phones? The iPhone 6 already sold millions from pre-orders and we still don't have a clue what's going on with the note 4. ?

Good point, that's what I was thinking. The main thing they would want to advertise is pricing and release date, and nobody has either yet. I think Samsung has really screwed the pooch on this release.

thats a good point, but hard to believe a corp like sammy wouldn't be at least running some ads for their flagship phone...Although maybe they are the type of company that waits until the product is actually released before they start their marketing activities..

Apple likes to advertise like crazy and if i recall correctly samsung had a big ad push for the S5 because it was more of a phone to compete with the iphone. Now i dont know. i think samsung would ran an ad to make fun of the iphone 6+ but you could right they could wait until its out like you said. I just dont see it as their top tier phone. most people will take s5 over note 4 due to size.
and btw i love your sig hahaha and i agree 100%!
I always forget about the S5, but I guess you're right, more people want a phone than want something with a stylus..
I rarely use the stylus, but the S5 had so many so-so reviews, thats why I had no interest in one.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the fan base of the note series is alot stronger on xda than the S4/S5 fan base was/is..
Who knows for sure; all I know is once the note 4 hits, its will be the most popular, "new" android phone out there, more so than a Z3, G3, or whatever else might come out in the next month or so..
Samsung has always done terrible with the release of the Note Series phones. When the Note 2 came out, I got it on launch day from T-Mobile. There were absolutely 0 accessories. When the Note 3 came out, I contacted Sprint to see when they were going to carry it, and 2 of the 3 stores in my area didn't even know the phone was releasing that day, so I bought it outright from Best Buy. Again, they had 0 accessories for it. The S series launches are the only ones that appear to get any attention.
Talk about advertising, I checked out the Verge on both the iPhone's launch day and Samsung's launch day event at IFA. Talk about free advertising and extremely lopsided press coverage. The Verge's site was nothing but apple stories how about 30-40 at least (no joke) and I was lucky to scroll back 30 pages to the IFA announcement and found may 4-5 for Samsung. That is not even remotely even press.
I think the lack of information about availability and nebulous delivery dates has shifted the carrier interest to apple who has product coming in and is giving customers actual ship dates next week. Apple has left samsung in the dust as this point. I wanted a 32 gig gs 5 and the note 4 is too big and will be very late I think so I will get a 128 iPhone 6 plus and I hate apple but Sammy has jumped the shark.
My country (ad signs) :
iPhone: Everywhere, like EVERYWHERE
G3: only one carrier
Samsung which isn't Note: Everywhere
Note: ....
iPhone wins in this regard.

If you wanted a 32GB S5, why didn't you just buy a microSD card and insert it into the phone[emoji15]? I don't see that as a reason to go to the iPhone.
Remember Remember the note 4 doesn't come out until some time next month while the iPhone launches next week so of course iphone has all the advertisement and coverage.

That's based on zero fact. If any company out there spend money on advertising or anything else it is definitely Samsung. But right now it's all eyes on the iPhone so that's what the carriers are pushing. In 2-3 weeks they will advertise the note.
Once the iPhone 6 comes in and people realize it's the same crap in a new case, Samsung will launch the Note 4 and give many people buyers remorse. Samsung says "let Apple have its day, then we'll continue to kick it's ass".
It was exactly the same here with the Note 3

Samsung Pay Promo

Does anyone else find it major BS that only s6 edge+ and note 5 customers get access to the free wireless charging pad or flip case?
Idk if its just me, but this really got under my skin. I mean i paid $600 for a Samsung phone too.
I agree mate, I find it annoying too... I was under the impression I bought a flagship device from Samsung this year, but apparently not. It's no way to retain customers, that's for sure.
At any rate, with the lack of support from the financial industry, I wouldn't have been able to claim one regardless. Apparently a confirmed launch partner doesn't mean anything. Maybe Samsung Pay will eventually work with the little guys, like Chase and Capital One...
Well I paid original price of the 128gb model. How do you think I feel? This is why Samsung android phones lose their value and apple tends to keep it.
I feel the same way. Not that I need either giveaway, but why just the other two phones? My first Samsung phone... disappointing.
I emailed Samsung and all I got was a "sorry" and "keep an eye for another promotion on another time for another phone" answer.
how are you guys upset and/or surprised about this? this discussion was had with the 50 dollar off promos of the original S6/edge a few months back.
you bought a flagship device right out of the gate.* ANYONE who doesn't realize "I'm going to pay top dollar and get less than those who wait" needs to get their head checked.
This occurs in any and all fields of revenue but even moreso with technology. When something big and fancy comes out that people want, it costs the absolute most upon initial release. (not only that but itll have the most bugs to work out too) Duh?
then, as the uproar and demand starts to die off, theyll:
A. throw out goodies (50 dollars off, free netflix, stickers even!)
B. Drop the price bit by bit/offer rebates/trade ins as time goes on
C. Create new "versions" of it (the new S6+/Edge+, Note 5, etc) which I'll add we OBVIOUSLY already knew theyd do considering nearly all cellphones do this now.
This is supply and demand, economics, basic business at work. Don't like it? Stop throwing money at them the moment phones come out to be the latest and greatest and wait till the sweet deals start appearing in return for not being brand-****ing-new.
*Also Don't hesitate to the point where whatever phone you get has completely lost its steam and theyre pushing a new device.
Be too early and you pay to be the newest. Be too late and you've missed the bandwagon. Deals appear after the instant-gratification herd has gotten their fix but before they're done milking it.
Again, this happens quite literally with -everything-, ESPECIALLY tech and gadgets.

Does anyone know the current Note 5 sales figures / volume / number?

Does anyone know the current Note 5 sales figures / volume / number?
The closest thing I could find is a comparison of its sales compared to the Note 6+ Edge but no concrete numbers.
I wonder if Samsung is keeping silent on the numbers because sales are disappointing?
If sales were record-breaking, I'm sure they would market it and love to throw it in Apple's face.
I'd like to know, too. the new iPhone sales and availability has been crazy than what I remember with the Note5 after release.

We may never know the real reasons. Officially, it was said Europeans are not that fond of a stylus and they would prefer the Edge+. I do remember, after a rather modest commercial start, the first Note got its success in great part from the European market.
When Apple finally announces a stylus for their iPad after explaining it was useless and after adopting the Note format they said was not a niche, I simply don't understand the strategy of Samsung.
However, rumors meet for an European version very soon.

As a European resident i'd find it more likely we don't want to be fooled be Samsung in giving us an inferior Note.
Just look at the previous iterations. Especially the 1, 2 and 3. They were by FAR the best/fastest/most loaded smartphones out at the time.
The current Note 5 is just an S6 edge plus with a pen (and acompaniing apps).
And im (as a note fan) completly disgusted by this...
Obviously if you don't like the note 5, then don't buy it. No need to be 'disgusted'.
It is just a phone...

As some one who actually owns the phone, it's night and day faster than my Note 4.
The fact the edge plus and note 5 are very similar disgusts you? I need your life if that's all it takes to disgust you.
Some of you guys need to think more like consumers and less like scorned fanboys expecting special treatment because once you defended the honor of TouchWiz in a comment thread of and apple product.
Also how is Samsung trying to be like apple?
There was mention that sales were hurting because they opted to not offer the note 5 in Europe. What is being ignored is while they are missing out on sales in Europe, they are also not paying to manufacture, advertise, and ship to Europe. So looking at units sold compared to last year and not actually looking at the bottom line is kind of short sighted and looks to be bias confirmation for some people.
Not saying sales will be better but for the sake of discussion look at the whole picture.

Wow, you make assumptions like you're a pro. Too bad they're wrong.
It's disgusting that their flagship line of products are now the same as the mass-consumer product.
But i understand if you don't get it tho. Understanding what people mean can be hard sometimes.

Lol so you are telling me that the Galaxy S6 isn't a flagship but a "mass-consumer product"? And it disgusts you that they used the same internals in the Note. LOL here we go..
First, before the Note Series existed, the S series was and is the defacto "flagship for Samsung". Keep in mind the Note started as a very niche product never intended to reach the number of sales that their flagship S Series did.
Do yourself a favor and search "Samsung flag ship" in google.. better yet let me do it for you:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Samsung+Flag+Ship
Please tell me what device occupies the majority of those results. I know this is simple but Im sure its more logic than you put into your response as an over privileged consumer elitist that can't be bothered with less than "flagship" quality..
Now that we have defined loosely what a "flagship" device is lets look at your reason for disgust. You're mad because a publicly traded company decided to save some money by not designing a whole new chipset and used one that exists and works. Not to mention that same disgustingly mediocre chip set is night and day faster than the last Note and killing it with a smaller battery.. Everything is faster, every, thing.. Some people will never be happy and swear the internet was created to gripe about the smallest things..
Also yes it is very hard to understand someone that attempts to articulate their confirmatory bias with ambiguous hype terms like "flagship" and "mass-consumer product". The hilarious thing is you think those two terms are not homogeneous in this use case.. :good:

I love music and books with a long commute to and from work when I want media on my phone.
I could live with a fixed battery but microSD is a must. I know other real users in a similar situation and it is with sadness that the Samsung phones can no longer meet my needs.
At the launch event a statement was made that Samsung listened to their users....... I have to question that statement.
I hope the next phones reintroduce SD support if I can wait that long........

The point is that people take Pictures and Videos. Over time, that takes up more and more storage, especially with quality and megapixels going up.
I have 60gb just in pictures and videos from the past 4+years. Just because people get new phones every 2 years doesn't mean they delete their old photo albums and start fresh. All those old memories pile up..
32gb on a phone isn't going to cut it. And I don't want to delete my old memories or upload them to the cloud and have to pay a monthly fee just to access them when I can buy a 128gb micro SD card for $45. Plus, I don't have to worry about having a solid LTE Signal. Plus, I can access a memory card in places where I get no service at all, like on a cruise ship or in a foreign country.
I need a swappable battery. I'm at Disney World and almost every here is walking around with their phones shackled to an external battery charger. It's so much easier to just carry a thin spare. It takes <30 seconds to swap and go from 0% to 100%.
Ok. You need those things, so you will need to buy a different phone...
Not everyone has the same needs, and samsung isn't designing the phone to meet everyone's needs - they are designing it to meet what they think the majority needs are and will sell.
It ok get a different phone. That's why they make different phones...
Is like being mad that you can only fit 5 people in a sedan, because got need to fit 7...

Was at the T-MOBILE store when...

I was at the T-MOBILE store today in NY inquiring about the S7 edge when a gentle walked in and asked if they were still selling the note 7. To my surprise the employee said yes. She did tell him to not let it charge past 60% and if it feels like it's over heating that he can bring it in and exchange if for another phone.
I wanted to get the note 7 but amid this disaster regarding the second recall I thought it was irresponsible for T-Mobile to sell any more of them. Have we been so brainwashed by the media that the battery exploding is only happening to a small percentage of the note 7 out in the wild. When he asked and she said yes, I'll admit I was tempted to see if I could be one of the lucky ones to get a non defective note 7 bit then i came back to reality and said the headache is not worth the reward.
What gives T-MOBILE and why don't you have the damn pixel in your store? You know sometimes I wonder! It would've been a perfect landing spot regardless of what happened to the note 7!

That T-Mobile employee was probably just an overworked, underpaid, and uninformed sales clerk. He/she could care less if you got a Note 7 or not.
The Pixel is a Verizon "exclusive". That's how the carrier system works in the US and it sucks. The rest of the world has electronic stores like Best Buy or OEM stores like Apple/Samsung/Microsoft where you can get your phones without dealing with carriers. You just buy a SIM of whichever carrier you want and pop a sim in, or you go into a carrier store to get your line, and they have no way to dictate to you what phones you can use.
Your probably right about there clerk but I hope the person who wanted is aware of what's happening, how could he not be. Also, I know I can take a Google purchased pixel and use it at T-MOBILE but it just seemed like the logical carrier that it should be on given how rapidly TMo has grow in the last few years. So would tmo sell the now 7 if someone wanted it? Would there be support for it?

That sales person seems like an idiot because the Note 7 has been a huge goat rope for every carrier, if they don't know by now they shouldn't be selling it they might need a new line of work.

I read somewhere recently where the exclusive Verizon has to the Pixel may be short lived. I don't know that's because Google sees an opening with the Note 7 debacle to get their phone a broader customer base or whether that was part of the original agreement.
I'm keeping my Note 7 until at least the V20 comes out. It's the closest thing feature wise to the Note 7. I'd go Pixel in a New York minute if it had SD card capability.
Yeah I think I'm going with the V20. I just don't see the justification on spending $900 on the pixel right now. I'm going to wait for the 2nd pixel. Maybe TMo will cough up the loot to get it in there stores.

Yeah im still pondering on the Pixel but the new name doesn't fool me. Never been super happy with Nexus batteries or cameras and every nexus phone had the best camera ever if you asked Google. Much like they are saying with the Pixel now.
Problem is unless you preorder you have to buy the 120 vr. I also need Wi-Fi calling at home :-/
I'd give up my card for a 128gb phone. I'm interested in the battery on the LG though.

I've got over 128 GB of music on that free 256 GB card that I got with the Note 7. With the V20 and it's supposed audio quality, I could load more .flac music up.
Then again, I could keep the S7 Edge they sent me as a loaner for the first recall. It shows as paid up on the T-Mobile website. It would work with the VR I claimed as part of that deal. Then again, I don't have the morals of an alley cat.

Might as well get an iPhone, they're doing the same thing: Charging too much (price) for too little (features). No way I'm buying that crap!

Yeah man, I'm looking at what is offered and for that price I got so much more on the N7 and it's depressing. Also why the hell would you only offer 32 and 128gb.
The price makes it very hard to justify.
