Question Re the stock ROMs available here - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I'm wondering if the P9 stock ROMs mentioned in the development section are stock android, or have the EMUI over top still ?
(aka stock to the device rather than stock android)
Can't post in the forum due to being a noob. Delete once answered if you wish.

[Q] How to go back to stock firmware ?

Hi can someone explain how i can revert back to my original firmware which was on the phone before i flashed it with jpk , so will be able to use the official froyo upgrade when it is released , i have a samsung i9000 with froyo i9000xxjpk. thanks in advance !
1. WHATEVER the rom you currently have, it WON'T affect your upgrade to ANY other rom (e.g. official froyo)
2. you need to know what rom you HAD, before do the reverse to the "original".
3. reverse procedure is the SAME as upgrade, its just flash another rom.
4. WRONG section for this post.
thank you for your help , sorry i posted this in wrong section but which section shoiuld i have posted it in ?

The Q&A section (which I've moved it to now for you). Please read the sticky post at the top of these sections titled "STOP!! Before you post read this NOW!!", which has guidelines for proper thread posting and placement.

Why no Sticky? Need help rooting my phone

Hi There!
I believe that in order to load these ROMs in this thread, you need to "root" the phone, but I don't see a sticky that explains how to do it?
Also is it like with Windows Mobile phones that you need a separate radio rom to the OS ROM?
Thanks in advance for any advice?
I take it the official update for Froyo for the i9000 isn't released yet? Is this something that happens automatically over the air or you need to initiate it?
Why so sucky thread title?
What do you mean? No roms in this thread ;p
Btw most ROMs in this subforum are already rooted and while ur current ROM is overwritten (being either rooted or not) in the flashing process... Ur device becomes rooted after flashing most of them. For more detailed information go to ROM's threads.
Root is kernel-related thing, so I dont get ur point.

Hi There!
I may be using the wrong terminology, I am looking for flash proedures for the ROM's in this forum. I thought the process of applying those roms required you to root the phone before use (like hardspl for winmo roms).
I am looking for the step by step guide to applying the ROMS's listed here?
Refer to each rom's thread.
Full stock leaked firmwares come in .tar packages, flashed by Odin.
Mods and custom roms might be flashed by Odin, or update.zip method.
I believe there was some BIG FAT FAQ in this subforum?
// oh its in general : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
You forgot to read the stickies... There's this one: STOP!! Before You Post, Read This NOW!! and in that you see this:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.

Now you see the general section? If you go there you'll find this sticky: [REF] BIG FAQ! {Flash/Root HOWTO} {ADB&Tutorials} {T&T} {FW-Guide} [MUST READ!] Which has everything you need.
Thanks. To be honest it makes no sense to me to have something about flashing ROMS in the general forum, at a minimum I think it should be in both places.

[Q] Interested in rooting and flashing a custom ROM for the LGOB. [Q]

Hello guys, as you can see I am new to the forum and new to android in general. [Used to be an iOS fanboy] I have recently acquired an LG Optimus Black but i'm unhappy with the stock ROM provided by LG.
I have a few questions:
1) What are my options for rooting the device?
2) Once rooted, what custom ROMs are currently available for the device?
3) If I flash a new ROM is it possible and what would I need to have/do to restore the device back to the stock ROM?
And lastly...
4) What is the chance of fully bricking the device and what are my options if the device gets bricked?
Thanks a lot, [Hope this was the right section and hasn't been asked before...]

All was asked and ANSWERED before. Move your a** and search for it.
I have searched actually. The questions that have been answered aren't specific to my situation and I know that small details are very important when flashing phones. If you aren't answering the question I guess what you posted would be considered spam?
Guys,
Please refrain from bickering, two ways this can be easily resolved:
1. Use google search with the word xda in it to find your answer
2. Rather than posting move your a** and find it, if you know the link or answer, why not help a brother out?
I will say no more on the matter, its that simple.
THanks.

No point arguing..if you don't wanna help just ignore.
If you wanna reply, make sure it helps others.
1) What options? It's either you root or you don't. Either way, your phone works.
2) Currently there's only NOVA Rom by knzo.
3) Read this thread here.
4) Chances of bricking are slim if you read before attempting anything. If in any case your phone is bricked (boot loop), refer to the above.
Hope it helps.

Thank you very much for the very active response and information.... I am also studying these issues.

Exactly what I needed, thanks a lot!
I've heard a lot of the current roots don't work for the OB?
And is NOVA the ONLY ROM at the moment, I thought I heard about another one?
Older firmwares, you can use Gingerbreak. If it doesn't work, then most probably you're on the newer firmwares. Then use SuperOneClick.
The other one is Pays ROM. It's been abandoned.
It needs v10b Firmware to run. If you're not familiar, stick to Nova ROM.
Cyanogenmod is in progress (i hope so)

Thread moved to Q&A where it should have been posted originally. Please post in the correct sections; only things that are "created" belong in development. Next thread like this in development will receive more than a warning. Thanks.

First off, this is the development thread, opinion threads and such should go into the General section.
Secondly, creating Best threads is not advised on xda since it's unfair to the devs working on their respective ROMs and everyone has a different view for "best".
Lastly, most ROMs are similar since we are limited to Stock ROMs for now. Dynamic Kat is what I'm using mostly because it comes with an optional GPE theme which gives you a break from looking at Stock firmware and has all the goodies you will find in other ROMs.

Rollback to EMUI 4.1.1 (VNS-L21)

Hi guys, I wanted to get EMUI 5 on my P9 Lite and I did, I used Firmware Finder but that thing automatically updated my phone to NRD90M test-keys.... Is it possible to go back to VNS-L21C432B160 and then maybe properly upgrade to 5.0 and having the same build number?
Edit: I managed to Rollback the OS, now all I need is a way to finally upgrade to EMUI 5.0. I'm sorry if this question has been posted before, please delete this thread if it's a problem. But I would actually need some help with the update, if possible.
This is the P9 forum. Why dont you look in the P9 lite forum? You probably will find anything you need there without opening a new thread.

That was my mistake... I found other questions about P9Lite on this section, that's why I posted here... Anyway, I managed to fix all my problems, so I'm asking for a nice moderator to remove this thread if possible. Sorry for any inconveniences.

Probably a mod will move this thread.
Why dont you post your solution?

Oh yes, sure! So the solution is as it follows:
To get back on MM:
1. I downloaded and updated my device using L21C432 (EU) from this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...torial-rollback-n-to-mm-c432-devices-t3563955 - I got a small incompatibility error but I just skipped it.
2. I downloaded and update my device using L21C432B160 from the same thread and this way I got back to the proper build of EMUI 4.1.1
To upgrade to N:
1. I installed Firmware Finder
2. I upgraded the OS from 4.1.1 to 5.0 using the L21C432B370-OTA-MF-PF file (1.9 GB if I remember correctly).
3. After the upgrade was finished I just did a factory reset to get it to run as smooth as possible.
Everything worked just fine on my device. Camera works, bluetooth works, I haven't had any problems except the fact that I have 2 IMEI's now... probably because of that NRD90M test-keys build that was flashed by mistake. I don't think it should be a problem anyway
