Hello,
I believe I have a problem with internal memory card... Full wiping not working sometimes (says it cannot mount '/system'), and time to time new image installation stops on the extraction phase...
Is there any way to format internal card except TWRP wiping?..
Or maybe there's some other way to reliably clean up the intermal card?
Please advice.
Format from settings and just delete everything on phone. Let phone boot then Odin. Alternatively twrp has option to wipe internal, just be sure you have backup and new rom on external before you wipe.

Everytime I flash a new ROM, my internal SD card stays almost intact.
How can I clean it (Format it) and flash a new Rom?
Thanks.
Make sure you do a backup.
Settings -> Storage -> Erase USB Storage
Thanks.
or you can format it in windows
you can also use the app sd maid to keep sd cards clean and clutter free, its a very useful tool for flashaholics.
Thanks for all the usefull info.
I want to install the new ICS 4.0.4 rom but I want to make like a factory install.
hi everyone,
i am using TWRP 2.2.1 on my sgs+ for a long period w/o problems, but now i did some mistake and i cannot anymore read external SD from TWRP.
what i did is: full wipe and factory reset (as i always did before any flash), but this time i also did an internal storage wipe, because i wanted to try a clean installation of a rom.
after this internal storage wipe, i went back to install menu, but i am not able to see external storage. it seems that i only get access to internal storage.
if i try nount menu and i mount external sd card, i can correctly see the sd on my win7 pc, so i am sure that it works and the files are inside it.
but if i cannot access it from twrp, i cannot flash any rom!
i try to play wit mount menu, and check some field (mount system, mount data, mount cache...) but i do not even know what i am doying!
any hints?
thanks in advance!

Wipe data, system, cache and data/media (internal sd card).
Format your external sd card via recovery or PC. (optional)
I think it's happening due to corrupt file system.Though if the problem is within your internal SD card instead of external one, there is no need to format external sd card.

You might still want to wipe data/media after sw update. It only wipes data, system and cache and not data/media.
I know this because I've had my internal sd card (data/media) corrupted before, preventing my phone from booting. Was only able to fix it via recovery, by wiping internal sd card.Stock, CWM or TWRP a wipe should do it.But SW update doesn't format internal sd card.

but i cant access on internal sd card....
i cant even download, display sd card unavailable and when i plug to my pc the internal drive is unknown....
now i can access already since i used sw update
done flashing cm11 nightly and no more major problem.
i think my internal sd card corrupted last time...
thanks ottomanhero and have a nice day.........................
welp I may be screwed, but thought I would ask the pros.
I always back up my sdcard personal files, but the media files (music I don't). I have a 128GB card and I am trying to save myself some rebuild time.
I encrypted my external 128gb sd card in android (I have my data backed up thank goodness), but I have full wiped the phone, to install a new rom (full wipe and factory reset).
I have rest the screen password to the same encrypted password, yet when I reboot the phone (installed new rom from separate external sd card since TWRP wont write from an encrypted sd card), the phone is fine, but the card is still being shown as "checking sdcard for errors"
is there any way to restore access to the encrypted card since I full wiped? I know that I can just reformat the card back to fat32, but I really don't want to sit and transfer 100gb of flac files again.
Hi,
It's my first time rooting/flashing and I have 2 questions
1) where on the phone should I keep the ROM and gaps files,
On the SD card or can I leave them on the internal memory?
2) using twrp (this is the installation not a ROM update) what wipes to i need to do, is cache and dalvik and data good enough ? Or also system and internal storage? (And will it not delete my nandroid backup and my rom and gapps?)
Thanks
Hi,
to answer your questions:
1.) save rom and gapps on external sd card. You can also save them on internal memory but when you wipe everything those files are gone too, unless you exclude internal storage.
2.) If you come from stock it is recommended to to wipe everything, even data and internal storage. You can move those files (rom, gapps) back onto internal storage in recovery. Nandroid backups should be saved either on external SD card or PC, not on the internal storage. One wrong wipe and your backup is gone.
If you want to flash a custom rom there is no need to root your phone - just flash a recovery and you'e good to go
