I own iCarez tempered glass screen protector. I like the feeling of glass rather than plastic. Also, plastic attracts oil and scratches easier. The glass hardness is 9 on the hardness scale so it won't scratch easily. It adds .3 mm to the thickness of the device. The iCarez one I have is anti-oil so it doesn't attract oil. Plastic screen protectors (at least the cheap ones) have a rainbow effect at certain viewing angles.
Cons of tempered glass protectors:
-adds ~.3 mm to thickness of device
-more expensive than plastic ones
Highly recommend glass protectors, just make sure to apply it correctly for they usually only come in packs of 1
Glass all the way no bubbles and u can't even tell it's on your screen plus the bonus glass break protection that it offers.
Glass, glass glass! Never again will i use a plastic protector.
The 5 dollar glass covers on ebay work fine.
I recently got the spigen glas.tr for my S5 and couldn't be happier. Installation was much easier than plastic ones, and the glass is not even noticeable. Not to mention that it has an oleophobic coating. Zagg makes glass protectors but it looks like they're back ordered.

Ditto ..Glass all day !! Will never go back to film even the cheapest of glass is better than the most expensive film in my opinion..I've had this glass on since I've gotten this device and still looks the same as day one ...hands down ..best purchase I've made in a while.

Just put a glass zag protector on my granddaughter's Ipad air, she dropped it not even 10 minutes later, not a mark, scratch, fracture or dimple on the screen. Of course the zag did it's job and shattered like the tech that installed said it would and it's covered under warranty they are sending me a new one free of charge.
So go with glass it's worth the money

Gotta love it ..i also dropped an older device on its face with glass installed and no harm done ....

I have used both (zag invisishield, ghost armor and armour suit) and no matter what the film will yellow and start to peel over time
I prefer glass I also think it feels a lot better and not so cheap like the film's do
Glass for me....always. ..g
I prefer glass because it doesn't "drag" as much as plastic film does... the glass protects the screen while still keeping it "smooth as glass"
Days after installing the glass it cracked. Small places. Then bigger cracks.
Now I don't know what to do about it! They actually installed at the ATT store.

most of the glass shields come with a lifetime warranty, you register your purchase on line then if it breaks they send you a replacement free of charge, the rep at ATT should have provided you with the information to register it online. if not you have your reciept i think you can go online and register it that way.

Thanx!
But I wonder why it broke with no impact. And I wonder HOW they will get the cracked one off.

Is the lip on a protective case a problem?
I had a plastic film screen protector on my s3. The lip of the rubber protective case pushed against it and caused it to peel up along the edges. Will the glass protectors do the same thing? Are any of the glass protectors slightly undersized to allow for the lip on a protective case?

Glass should not peel up. I use the ones from xtremeguard.com they do monthly coupons for 90% off. I bought 4 of them for 15 bucks, kept 1 for a spare and sold the other 2 for 20 bucks each. Here is this month's promo code.

Hello,
So I have had been using Jettech tempered glass for my Note 5 since I got it last year and recently saw a crack on it and I was like how the heck I was like let me see if it's on the screen and
lol the whole thing cracked.
So I had a set of screen protectors at home for note 5 and I put that one. Now it's thin and doesn't even feel like there anything on the screen and the screen looks so beautiful colors and all but I'm worried-do we really need tempered glass protectors?
I've seen knife tests and all and this phone survives without any struggle so shouldn't this screen protector be enough?
What do you guys think? I do have a Spigen case on it-with in-built shock absorber and what not.
It depends on how anal you are. I assure you you will get a scratch at some point.
I got tempered glass because I didn't want a peice of plastic. Recently I watched a video about tempered glass and saw tempered glass can take a hit. If the tempered glass is hit at a specific way/angle then it shatters. But it can defiantly take a hit and prevent scratches

I understand but my question is should I get tempered glass or I'm fine with screen protector I have.
I already put one on but it's not tempered it's the regular one. Not sure how durable this is but my screen definitely looks better lol maybe because it's not that thick haha
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. If you have a decent lip on your case I don't think the glass buys you a whole lot. With a slim case without much lip, I think they have saved my phone's screens a couple of times.
I'd say go for glass. Plastic is plastic. Glass a few dollars more for a reason)
Tempered glass here

I got the zagg plastic xtreme I think...comes with front and back protect.
It is nice on the back too...no more fingerprints.
I don't have any scratches yet. I can sort of rub light scratches right out...kind of cool.
Tempered glass will give you the height protection against scratches and impact, better clarity, last longer, better feel in hand sometimes better feel then the glass phone itself, less fingerprints. Tg is also better then a "shatter film" because it has better ratio between scratches and impact resistance.
There is no debate here...
I have tempered glass just because its clearer than plastic and is easier to clean. Its not super thick so i dont really mind also for the extra protection on such a exspensive phone.

Tempered glass is the best way to go. It provides better protection, is very hard to scratch, doesnt impact optics, and is easier to apply. No brainer.
I'd stick with what we all know, tempered glass. Just purchased the Note 5 from a private party seller and luckily it didn't have many scratches from the previous owner NOT having a screen protector on.
Purchased the glass and am loving it.
They're cheap AF on amazon and as good of quality as the $50 ones in stores.
Well I dropped my phone from pocket height yesterday, it fell face down, and sure enough I seen a crack across the screen. I am using the caselogy that covers the edges, so when I peeled back the tempered glass...it was just the temperd glass cracked. Ordered a new 1 on eBay for 5 dollars, this glass lasted 4 months
Ok guys- even though when I bought the phone new I had tempered glass on it and I was just lazy to order another one since I already had regular screen protector with me.
I'll order one - It's by company JTtech - 9.99 on Amazon prime.
I just got lazy and to be honest- the tests on youtube shows that the bare screen of the phone is very resilient so I shrugged it off.
I'll order it today. I also have Spigen case on with raised edges.
I've got about 6 different tempered glass screen protectors because I can't stand the feel of the plastic screen protectors...
Mind you the screen on my note 5 is a freaking joke. I went about a month without a screen protector and my screen is scratched to all hell. And that's just from pocket use... So in the end it doesn't matter which one you go with, just use a screen protector.
It's not entirely how anal you are. I haven't used them in years and never had a problem because I would always keep my phone in a pocket which I was sure was empty. However I tried an oleo phobic tempered glass screen protector from Benks. It is hard to get it on perfectly, but it is great in that the screen is much more slippery for the swipe keyboard usage and also it never shows fingerprints on the screen any more. (Also this is not as important but I like it that it removes/hides/covers up the obnoxious 'Samsung' logo.) If you but them, buy more than one because if you mess up putting it on then you have a spare (which you would eventually use anyway). I recently dropped my phone for the first time and freaked out - but my case and the Benks tempered glass protector together completely protected the phone - with a big crack across the screen - which disappeared when I peeled off the protector!

Tempered glass screen protectors are the way to go. The only way tempered glass can crack or break is if the edge or corner is hit (I should know, i work with tempered glass everyday) and since these protectors are so thin, there is only a fine edge on it, nearly impossible to hit with something, even though i had something hit that fine edge at work. i get all my tempered glass protectors off Amazon, $4 - $7, as compared to $35 for a Zagg temp glass protector in stores, or even $25 for a plastic protector.
Tempered glass is best
But does anyone have the halo? I put mine on perfectly centered and I've got a hell of a halo. I was wondering if there's no halo with a plastic screen protector. That would be one reason to vote for plastic.

I've not found a "perfect" screen cover yet for the phone. I like the 2.5d screen but it makes finding a "perfect" tempered glass solution a problem. I have a full screen protector one on now and it's okay. I haven't found one of those that have adhesive on the entire back panel of the glass. The adhesive is only around the edges on the painted surfaces.
I have another one I haven't tried yet. It looks like it has adhesive on the entire back surface and the outer edges are made of carbon fiber (supposed to be anyway) The outer edges are at least a soft material that supposed to stick to the entire edge and curve around so that it fits a 2.5d screen better. The problem with the ones I bought is that you can't see the backlight from the buttons on the bottom of the phone. Not a deal breaker but a flaw in the design.
Do some searches on aliexpress or someplace and you'll see. Search for redmi note 4x carbon fiber to see the second one I mentioned and redmi note 4x tempered glass for the full screen ones I also mentioned. There are clear non full screen ones that don't go to the edges of the glass. I haven't purchased one of those and probably won't.
It's really hard to find something decent. I personally prefer the traditional tempered glass screen protectors, but I've tried three now and they all look terrible, huge white marks on the sides even though the tempered glass doesn't cover the full screen. The full coverage one lost its adhesive due to my case pushing up against it, and it looks awful with weird adhesive marks in the middle. Honestly I'm contemplating going back to a film screen protector because I just can't find a tempered glass screen protector that will work for me. Also worth noting that I have a friend with a White Redmi Note 4x and I was able to transplant my screen protector onto this device with zero issues, so it's as if the black variant has glass that is more curved than normal

I applied my tempered glass with my case on the phone. It's one of the full screen protectors with the painted frame around the outside. I think they do that to hide the fact that the glass doesn't fit to the curve. It looks good but I know it's not a perfect fit.
Upon research there appears to be fluid you can apply to the edges to get a perfect seal to remove the halo effect... I will investigate further
With my new case I posted about the full screen tempered glass looks perfect except for the fact they don't put adhesive on the entire back panel. Just under the painted area.

Yes... in my experience this doesn't last. I had two lift up and get dust underneath and then it was horrible after that. Also I got the weird rainbow effect in the middle of the glass and the keys at the bottom didn't line up exactly.

As no hard material can cover a curved glass manufacturers need to make a hybrid glass. What I have done is bought a edge to edge glass from glazedinc.com and a tpu case from local market, edge to edge glass protects my display from scratches without compromising the looks and tpu case protects my device from falls. It's the nearest to perfect solution one can do for the note 4

Good to hear I too bought the edge to edge tempered glass which is still flimsy but still can protect the screen without compromising the looks however I'm looking forward to purchase hard kickstand case which can protect the device when it falls. Kindly give me the link of that TPU case you bought and please tell me if it is hard enough to protect the phone. Thanks in advance.

I had to remove the factory applied plastic screen.
Now I can't find a single plastic screen protector bring sold for the V10! Has anyone managed to snag one? I'm only finding tempered glass protectors which I don't want (mainly because they look terrible). I'm in India BTW.
Had the same thing the other day.
Finally bought a glass full screen cover. Still looks awesome that way, the only downside is that the fingerprint sensor is now recessed. There also was no hole for the camera, but that doesn't matter at all.

Why did you need to remove the factory cover if you don't mind me asking?
Is the tempered glass listed going to provide shock absorption to prevent cracks to the display in case of falls? (see this horror video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2fNq9YrjXU
I removed it because of several scratches and smudges. Those bugged me a lot.
Haven't dropped the phone, so I haven't tested it, but the tempered glass should indeed crack instead of the phone screen.

For Huawei Honor View 10 / V10 Screen Protector (Not Tempered Glass),ONICO 3D Curved Protective Film Compatible With Case Friendly Full Body Round Coverage Protection (Front HD) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071D3F4S2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_U3FyBb8BBEBE4
Huawei P30 pro has same screen size/dimensions as our device, and so i purchased this screen protector https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N2MVBXF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 works like a charm.
I followed your advice, picked up this screen protector and it works great and wraps around the curved part of the screen. No issues with it lifting yet, especially where I have a silicone case sitting on the corners of the phone where the screen protector sits. I would prefer a glass protector but I doubt if they will ever make a good one for this one. From past experience and online reviews, when looking at tempered glass protectors, those that have a black edge around the protector. That is where they apply the glue to stick to your phone. This creates a halo/bubble effect in the center of the screen where there is no adhesive. I tend to buy only the ones without the black edges. I'm waiting for Whitestone Dome to come out with one for this phone. I got one for my other half's S9+, works brilliantly and has full screen adhesive plus curves for the edge. Not sure if this one would work for our phone plus its out of stock lol

I went with glass for now, and it not covering the curves is honestly no big deal for me.
