help. I am having boot loop after changing lockscreen wallpaper on custom rom.
go into recovery and do a factory reset, then flash the ROM again. if it still happens after that you have a bad download, or maybe you have a ROM not meant for our phones.. impossible to say as you have provided basically no information.
I tried following the steps indicated in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997. I was able to successfully flash the ROM N7000DXLR5---4.0.4/12.07.30-N7000OLBLR2---Download--Philippines (Smart) . I was already on the last part where the phone should reboot and would install some applications but the phone is just stuck on the Samsung logo screen. I waited for almost 2 hours already. I tried taking out the battery and rebooting the phone but its still stuck in the Samsung logo. The Volume down+home+power key is still working as well as the volume up+home+power key. I don't want to take another step because I'm afraid of my phone getting bricked.
I previously had a Jellybean custom ROM installed but don't like it since S-Pen features aren't working.
Install philz ics kernel from stock recovery and reboot into recovery. You will see cwm. Now do a factory reset. Then reboot.
You need a factory reset but 4.0.4 is not a safe kernel, that's why you need Philz kernel.
If you want a full stock ROM with kernel (like I need to send for warranty repair),
flash any GB stock rom appropriate for you, (still hang at samsung logo),
factory reset on recovery and update using kies to 4.0.4

if you are using N7000 then siyah kernel is not meant for this device as yet.
try to philz kernel if you can access recovery and then try to flash alliance rom.
or simply flash stock rom accessing the download mode.
Hi Guys I flashed over to the stock firmware and then rooted it in order to use triangleaway.
initial binary count was 3 when I checked after using Triangleaway.
I used triangleaway but it is still showing as binary count 1.
What am I doing rom?
Using stock Telstra 4.1.1 firmware.
Did it come with a binary count with 1 for Telstra phones?
Any assistance would be great. This is for warranty purposes.
use TA, and then flash a stock rom before it reboots, then factory reset from recovery.
you have to be stock in every way for it to be zero
After I use TA. It gives me two options to reboot into download mode or for a normal reboot. Which do I select? Thanks
reboot to download mode and flash a stock rom. factory reset from recovery afterwards. there are plenty of guides to assist you
Thanks figured it out.
Selected Reboot in Download mode after TA. As soon as it went to reboot and screen went back I pulled out the battery. Booted it up manually to the Download Mode and it is now displaying "NO" or "0"
It's due to custom kernel, it must have stock one to reset counter
you're welcome
So I was playing with Carbon ROM and left the phone totally emptied of battery overnight.
Wake up, charge the phone a bit, after boot it stuck at boot animation and bootloop.
Tried to go to recovery mode, stuck at TWRP intro screen and bootloop again.
Flash Carbon again using Odin, didn't fix the problem.
Flash official ROM using Odin, now phone boot directly into TWRP intro screen and stuck there.
Flash again using Odin together with PIT file, didn't solve the issue.
So, something seems to be stuck and I cannot factory reset.
Finally flash the stock recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150822&highlight=root
Boot into stock recovery, factory reset/wipe.
Reflash ROM using Odin again. This time it works.
Is there a way I can do factory reset ONLY using Odin if I can't get to recovery mode like above?
I search the web but didn't find satisfactory answer.

Hi,
strange that you get a bootloop after a empty battery. I think something went wrong when you flash it. Didn't had such problems.
Odin is only for flashing recovery and rom. It can't only reset factory reset/wipe. You must use your recovery for that.
The recovery should work Always. Did you tried Volume up, main button and power button? Or trough the rom itself after restart?
What I did:
Rooted my stock rom with odin
Flashed CWM recovery ( not twtrp) in Odin.
factory reset/wipe
Format data and media
format system
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
Installed my Rom and Gapps in recovery
factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
Reboot system
.
Maybe it works for you also.
Greetz
Somehow my recovery got corrupted and preventing the phone to boot properly.
The combo button work but it will just stuck there.
Flashing recovery seems to be the only solution.

Hello,
Unfortunely you cannot do a factory reset/wipe data using Odin. Odin is only used for rooting & flashing roms but not doing a factory reset. You can do a factory by booting into recovery mode by doing Volume Up > Home Button > Power Button.
I hope everything goes well.

I've just tried to factory reset my N950F, that had custom rom. This didn't remove my media files for some reason, so I did a full wipe from TWRP.
This has sent me into a bootloop, however I can still get into the download screen for odin. I've tried flashing TWRP again with this but while my laptop says pass it is stuck on 'Downloading, do not turn off target'.
I'm now waiting to download https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N950F/BTU/download/N950FXXU5DSB2/259437/ am I doing something wrong or do I have to return to stock in order to use the phone again?
Would rather have TWRP and install a custom ROM.
Thanks all,
Andy
Download firmware, flash it with Odin run wait till device turn on, wait some time. Then just simply flash your ROM, root and stuff
