Updated CM and headphone dead - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

I updated from the shades.sh CM 2016.08.16 to 2016.10.03. In the old version I just can't use the buttons on my phone, but after update the buttons works but there's no sound at all. The speaker works, but all my headphones have the same issue. Is that a common issue in the rom or I just need to perform a factory reset and flash the rom again?

Read the changes... or at least the bug section...
the new build is based on a custom kernel, and at the moment all custom kernels have problems with audiorouting trought headphones. So its a general issue!

It's actually a new feature. It's the same a iPhone 7, the headphone jack has been deactivated in cyanogenmod now.

[Q] nexus one all sound level goes verry verry low

i used this shipped rom when i got my n1 6 months ago,
Passion_Google_WWE_2.16.1700.1_FRG33_MFG_Shipment_ROM.zip
i received all the updates, it was working fine.
the other day, i decided to use the same passimg.zip file,
when phone read the sd card, i accidently selected recovery, it started to do recovery process, middle off the process i freaked out because that was not i wanted to do so i turned off the phone and install passimg.zip
i install all the programs i use and received all the updates,
now n1 sound level goes very low even it shows sound level is max,
its impossible to hear when it rings or playing music.
when i turn off and on the phone i get the sound back, after some time sound level goes very very low even sound level in max. so i turn off and on again and i get sond back,
i dont have any problem during calls i can hear,
right now
version 2.3.6
build number GRK39F
how can i fix this?
This used to happen to me on cm7 I did a full wipe and reflashed the ROM and it fixed the problem so I would suggest you reflash the passimg file.
i downloaded same passimg file and installed it to my nexus one, same proprem continuous.
when i turn off and on, everthing normal.
any ideas?

"full wipe" means, using passimg file and install it again?
Full wipe means to do a factory reset, usually from recovery.
i figured it out. i dont know why but the problem was a program called voipraider,
i uninstalled it, problem solved, thanks for your replies...
Ok well I'm glad you got it resolved
I have this same problem. I don't have the app mentioned above installed, so I'm hoping someone can chime in with another app that may cause this issue? I've done a full factory reset, reinstalled everything (MIUI rom.) Rebooting the phone doesn't always fix the problem.. sometimes rebooting a few times will bring the sound back to normal, yet randomly all sound on the phone is barely audible at max settings. If a normal reboot doesn't work, normally wiping dalvik will fix it. Would this mean the problem lies in one of my apps somewhere? Any advice?
Are you using DarkTremor's a2sd? If so, it is a well-known problem. And wiping dalvik or just the regular cache will reset it. Due to this reason (and a few other minor ones), I switched to S2E for my app2sdext purposes, but I am not sure how well it works with MIUI (it was designed to work with CM7).
@bassmadrigal
Thanks. As I think about it, DTs a2sd is the only common thing I had in my testing. Even switching between ROMs, I kept flashing DT. Since I always have issues with MIUI's stock A2SD (based of DT).. I went back to CM7. I looked into S2E and will take that route.
I hope this fixes it.. the sound was frustrating when my alarm is going off in the AM and it's not making a peep. I'll post back in a few days in hopes that it's ceased to be a problem.
Thanks again for hopefully solving my major nuisance.

[Q] Music player works only on stock rom

I seem to have an unusual SGS problem...
My music player plays mp3's via headphones only while using stock rom. I've tried stock, branded 2.3.6, newest MIUI and Darky 10.2 (a bit earlier: Cyanogenmod). In every single one the music player stops playing mp3's and system sounds via headphones just after flashing. Music plays normally on stock, kernels don't seem to make a difference.
Has anyone come across such problem? Googling doesn't seem to help...
Chance .....?
Well you should Start checking several things and after that the SOLUTION appears.
1-First upgrade your SGS to latest official android which is 2.3.6.
Find a firmware which you can root easily.
2-After flashing completed and before booting the operating system enter CWM.
3-Do not Factory Reset, simply Wipe Dalvik Cache & Battery Status.
4-Download custom ICS 4.0.3 RC 3 firmware for SGS from:
http://www.hlusoe.info:5000/hotfile/141757929/hlusoe.info_ICS_4.0.3_r1-RC3-I9000.zip
After Flashing finished, check and report back.
<<<Good LUCK>>>
I'm not so eager to install an ICS ROM in unstable state. Do you think this would solve problems with installing MIUI? Is this a bug fixed by ICS?
I'm reviving this thread after almost a year, but since my sgs started getting slower and slower, and the ICS roms started getting more and more stable I decided to flash a custorom once again...
So far I've tried flashing:
-CM 10.0
-Paranoid Android 2.54
-[jOP40D] OFICIAL ANDROID 4.2.1 <RC2>
-CM 7.1
None of those roms solves my problem - the loudspeaker doesn't work (most of the time). When I try to play music or sound an alarm I can hear silent white noise, as if the loudspeaker was powered on, but nothing more. Interestingly the loudspeaker works perfectly normal when I try to use it during a call.
The loudspeaker works perfectly normal on stock rom installed using this guide, both rooted and unrooted. It also works on this 2.3.6 rom, rooted and unrooted.
Before flashing I restored to 2.3.5 via odin (1.82 and 3.07), I followed guides as closely as possible. Usually I flashed roms using cwm. I tried changing as many sound related settings on each of those roms as possible - the whole testing process took me about 2 days.
Does anybody have an idea what to try next?

[Q] [HELP] How to fix and identify my GT-i9000?

Hello World!
let me first explain my problem :
i got a GT-i9000 (Samsung Galaxy S) from my friend.
the device already installed with custom ROM (lidroid if i'm not mistaken).
problem is, many features of this sweet device is not working :
sound not working at all (no sound coming out from speakers and 3.5mm jack)
the accelerometer are inverted (tilting the phone up makes the ball on 'calibration' go right)
so i tried to install CM7, and then CM9 on this device.
but now all of the soft buttons doesn't work. (all 3 buttons doesn't work at all)
PLUS all the problems i described above.
i tried installing custom kernel for CM7/CM9
but the problem still there.
and then, i tried to install a stock ROM from samfirmware.
but i don't know what my device is from.
apparently, the box are missing too..
i already tried updating the phone software with Kies, but it always stuck at "connecting phone.."
oh, and strangely, the Baseband part of the about phone is always shown as "Unknown"..
is it has something to do with modem?
Sounds weird. I would suggest a complete reset/wipe and a flashing of a stock ROM (e.g. from Sammobile). Be sure you wipe anything, including dalvik cache and cache partition.
I think you may have a damaged I9000.
To be sure, try again flashing Samsung ROM from Samfirmware (important! with 'repartition' and 'bootloader update' options).
I recommend XXJVT 3-file.
Try to flash it to its stock ROM using your current location, if that's what you're problem, location shouldn't be a problem for now, you should try to make it work first. Then if all else fails, I think you gotta return that phone to your friend coz the ROMs you mentioned should be working properly (unless you didn't wipe your cache).

well, i want to connect my phone and update it through Kies, but the phone is always stuck at "connecting device"..
oh, and one more thing.. can changing ROM breaks the hardware of a phone?
you can use this tutorial (and files within) to flash to a stock rooted rom + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
If you wanna keep it stock just dont flash the ICS rom they're talking about in the topic ,use odin and thats it .
edit : changing roms cant break the hardware (as far as i know, unless ofc there are some features that force hardware over their limit ,for example if you force the audio volume too much your speakers will start making noises when playing music) ,though it can rarely brick the phone (if you rly mess up or odin crashes while flashing )

yes. this is exactly what i do after i installed CM9.
i forgot to add this on my first post..
um, so now my device is using i9000XWJVZ. and the baseband is still showing "unknown", and those 2 problems i described above are still there..
any ideas?
baseband version = modem (if im not mistaken) . flash another modem maybe? i have baseband version I9020AUCKF1 (nexus modem)
hmm...we should make a test to make sure the hardware is working allright. Download Andro Sensor and see what accelerometer sensor says (do this with all roms).

No sound during calls after flashing Cyanogenmod 10.1.3

So my troubles began when I flashed Cyanogenmod on my Samsung Galaxy Note n7000
I get no sound during phone calls. They can't hear me. I can't hear them.
If I press on the keypad during the call they can hear the sound of the key being pressed.
I tried to update the modem but to no avail.
Anyone any ideas?
thanks

Apologies.
I will delete the other thread.
I am still getting no sound during calls.
I flashed a few different radios also XXLS1, SC, T3 all with the same result.
No sound during a call.
I even flashed Cyanogenmod 9.1 but still the problem exists.
any help at all would be appreciated.
thanks

Not sure what your issue is but it may be hardware related.
The best way to determine if it is a hardware issue is to start over and go to full clean stock. If the problem persists, you need to replace some hardware.
Go to @dr.ketan's sticky thread on stock ROMs and flash a stock jellybean ROM. It will wipe everything (not your photos and stuff, just data)
Follow the install instructions via Odin on the thread, mobile Odin is not acceptable because it won't wipe preload and leaves too much behind.

Sound Issues

Hi. I am running GamerzRom on my Captivate:
-Android 4.2.2
-Baseband - I9000UGKG3
-Kernal - 3.0.83-ga921f81, [email protected]#1
- Cyanogenmod version - 10.1 - captivatemtd
I am having problems with the sound, where sometimes it will stop working all together. It takes a few restarts for it to start working again. Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks!

Did you clean flash it?
Also could be an hardware issue (Cappy is known for that), where the speaker needs to be manually pushed back in place.

What do you mean by clean flash? I had the cappy on stock firmware, rooted with CWM. Then flashed Gamerzrom through recovery. I looked at the speaker and it seems to be pretty solid. Doesnt move about at all. I find it weird that it works sometimes and others not. Any other ideas?

Clean flash means factory reset, clear cache and dalvik.
I'm not exactly sure what is causing the issue but perhaps re-flashing (after a backup) will solve it.
