Dear XDA users,
I've installed TWRP 3.0.0 and CM13 on my S5 mini a long time ago, but when I found out there was an update available for cyanognmod, I saw there was a newer version of TWRP available! My question is, how do I install the latest TWRP version? Can I just install it using the older version, or does that brick my device? I'm also wondering if it's really necessary to update, since I think the old TWRP version should work fine.
Thank in advance,
StanleyNL (Stan)

All,
I am having issues with the current version of TWRP (unofficial) for the TF701. I doesn't see the data partition and can't do backups.
I have seen that other devices have had similar behaviors but nothing on the TF701 and I can't remember where I got my current version.
I have searched here and have found nothing. Although some users refer to a new version - there are no links.
I am running Katkiss 7.1 #21 and have TWRP 3.1.0 0 installed.
Can anyone provide a link to where any updated versions of TWRP can be found? I promise I will bookmark it this time.
Thanks in Advance
Cheers
Not quite sure what are you looking, but check this one here.
There is only one TWRP version for the TF701 and that's the Kang version you seem to have installed.
There were a few updates to it lately but I gave nit tried the latest version. But it seems to be ok. Check the thread in Original Development.

Hi everyone, so some mistakes have been made today. While playing around with substratum theme engine on my mix running lineage-os 14.1, i had uninstalled one of the themes and then decided to uninstall the app entirely, however after uninstall it didnt reset the theme, so i rebooted. While attempting to reboot it got stuck in a boot loop. At this point I plugged my phone into my pc and booted into twrp so i could access my files and get them off, however when attempting to boot into twrp i could not use the touch screen which is preventing me from re-flashing my rom. and so after troubleshooting for an hour or soi had all my files off of my device, so i decided to format the system partition. so now i have no rom flashed and a twrp that i cannot use due to lack of touchscreen, its temporarily bricked i guess. So my questions are; A. can i use an otg cable and a mouse to control twrp? B. Is there some way to directly flash a rom from adb or from the connected pc. Then I should also state that I have tried older/newer versions of twrp to try to get the touchscreen working, to no avail (currently running 3.1.1-0 lithium). Ive read that it may be touchscreen drivers or something that are mis-matched from the rom. the onlyt issue is that there is no rom, also ive heard that the touchscreen is at a kernel level so i may need to flash a new kernel to get it working. TBH im not going to do anything else so that i dont completely brick my phone. Thank you all in advance for helping out!
Please try this (older) TWRP by MrRaines: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298927160
It's TWRP 3.0.2-0 based but has different kernel/driver that is more compatible with a varous bunch of ROMs.
You're a god, this is exactly what I needed, thanks!!!

Ok glad to read that it works.
Please keep in mind: the TWRP of MrRaines is an older one and is heavily modified.
ATM i'm trying to investigate what's the specific reason other TWRP versions are conflicting with touchscreen drivers on every new release of an stable or dev rom but MrRaines TWRP is still working ^^
The TWRP compatibility case has become even worse with the release of some Android 7.x / Nougat based ROMs - without an official kernel source release for Android 7 by Xiaomi (Android 6 kernel sources should have been released some weeks ago).
Could take a couple of days to find a reason and some more to find a solution...
... any help, tips and confidential information is very welcome @MrRaines @jcadduono

Hmmm. I did try two or even three other versions of TWRP. The first two would not even flash giving me an error. The third worked but touch screen would not work. Final attempt was the one from MrRaines which worked perfect!
I used Smartswitch to upgrade my Tab A to 7.1.1 and decided to give rooting a try. I flashed CF Autoroot (CF-Auto-Root-gt58wifi-gt58wifixx-smt350) with ODIN which was successful in installing SU and giving me root. Confirmed using Titanium Backup and FolderMount.
Have you found something to change the lock screen clock design? I hate the hours & minutes arranged vertically.

SM-T550 Still waiting grrrrrr
trying to build custom ROM for it (using either Superr Kitchen or ASSAYYED KITCHEN) , but does not look like working, it bootloops, I know there's custom ROM done for 7.0 (@luattic ), but not sure why it does not works for 7.1.1., haven't check with @ashyx for his feedback
funny thing is that you can flash offical firmware of SM-T350 7.1.1, and then flash @ashyx TWRP 3.1.0-1, and then flash latest super su, it all good...it just when build custom ROM for 7.1.1 does not works...i wonder if these ROM kitchen does not include latest superSU or maybe something else

Haven't even started on the custom rom I was going to make, updating at the moment, but can you help me out? Haven't been learning about Android Development yet and still trying to learn Java and Kotlin (don't know any at the moment too). Thanks if you reply back.
Confirmed worked for me to even though chainfire site says for marshmallow
I wasn't able to root my sm-t350 until I upgraded to 7.1.1 it was a brand new device as of yesterday. I tried just about any method I could find, was about to give up then I took it from 6.x.x to 7.1.1 and then the method you mentioned above and boooooyah....

7.1 changed a lot of the filesystem and policy layout. That is probably why the custom rom kitchens aren't quite working all the way then. I do believe you do need to use at least SuperSU 2.8 on Nougat builds of android, 2.82 is a super decent build to run on Nougat 7.0 and 7.1.1
Does anyone have a no pc method? My computer is slow af.
Is smartswitch the built in updater? That modal that pops up saying there is an update available?

What difference does that make, you're only downloading it?
Have you found a TWRP package which is compatible with the SM-T350 running Nougat 7.1.1?
Have you done it with Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017?

Have you used the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2017 version? If not, will it work with it? It runs 7.1.1 too.
Bricked my last tablet just bought a sm-t350 with 7.1.1
I have a sm-t350 running 7.1.1. I’ve searched everywhere for step by step instructions on how to root my tab. If somebody could please point me in the right direction that would be very helpful. Very interested in what android has to offer. Doing as much research as I can but nervous since I hard bricked my last device thanks

Referring to @jazzespresso above...
I am waiting to hear back from @ashyx on the latest TWRP build for the T350. From there, it's a simple matter to flash via Odin and then zip install SuperSU 2.82 via TWRP.
Edit:
TWRP v3.1.0-1 is available for DL to T350. From there, just follow instructions above to root.
Help
Download link to TWRP?

This did root my device, but resulted in some strange behavior. When I restart the tablet, some apps are randomly deleted on startup. Any ideas?
Hello, I cannot give root access to my device Samsung Tab A SM T350. My device now has version 7.1.1. How do I root the device?
Hey guys,
I checked the official TWRP site and noticed a new version as mentioned in the title. Newly released (yesterday i think?). The instructions for flashing oreo beta say to use the Chinese modded TWRP, due to its ability to decrypt the partitions.
I flashed this new (official) version and seems to be working so far. Wondering why I haven't seen any discussion on this here on XDA.
Maybe I'm dense af today and missing something. Apologies if so.
there has been a few discussions on the new versions (3.2.0-0 & 3.2.1-0) in the official thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...y-twrp-3-1-1-0-touch-recovery-t3632912/page41
and could you elaborate on what "seems to be working" in your experience? thx..
Thank you! I will move my discussion that way!
isn't working on crypted devices
Hi Folks...
Got me an Samsumg Galaxy S3 GT-I9305.
I tried to install RR, so first step obviously was getting TWRP 3.2.1-0-i9305.img.tar.
Downloaded over at https://dl.twrp.me/i9305 the said version.
Installed with Odin V3 and everything came up clear but when i tried to boot into recovery i got stuck in Bootlogo
Playing around for a while i decided to install TWRP 3.0.2-1 which worked fine on first try.
Tried to flash the 3.2.1-0-i9305.img via TWRP gave me the error message "File is too big".
Can anyone confirm?
That version is too big for the recovery partition on our device.. Need someone to compress it to make it smaller to fit the partition size of the device.
I have the same problem with the last version TWRP 3.2.1.0.
When I push this one with Odin 3.12, all is sucess but when i reboot the device in custom recovery, it can't, it is stuck
S3 GT-I9305 Specific?

Thanks!

3.0.2-1 works fine, https://dl.twrp.me/i9305/twrp-3.0.2-1-i9305.img.html
Working 3.2.1-0 credit goes to @Option58 the one who compress it. Thank him. Enjoy guys.

Official TWRP 3.2.1-0 for i9305 Problem Reported to TeamWin TWRP
@Lexington67 @public3n3my @GouLt @mouth
I reported the problem to the TeamWin TWRP so other S3 i9305 users don't waste their time with this version:
Hello, several XDA i9305 users report here

Awesome support from a non-profit open source community project IMO.

I'm working on my own TWRP device tree, based on official LineageOS repos, with the intention of getting official support for version 3.2.1-0. I'll create my own thread when my build is ready. According to TWRP's official page for the i9305, there is no current official maintainer.
Edit: I compiled a 3.2.1-0 build and created a separate thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3741413
