Hello Guys,
I have been facing a serious problem ever since I updated my Mi3 to latest developer version. My 3g internet isn't working. I have tried all the possible trouble shooting like reinstalling the OS both stable and developer, clearing cache lot of times, reinserted the sim couple of times. I even tried to flash a lower version but it didn't help.
Initially i was on custom LP with extended partition on TWRP recovery and everything was working flawlessly. I reverted back to stock partition and now using CWM recovery with miui 6 developer version.
On the other hand the wifi works perfectly no issues with it. Not sure whether its a bug or i am missing something.
I would highly appreciate if a solution can be found and i can start using my internet data.

I am sharing my workaround to new JIO network.
If you are on MIUI, you are fine.
Those who are on custom ROM, or willing to flash these ROMs, especially on CM 13 based ROMs, keep reading.
Tested on CM 13 nightly (20160920).
Just to be on safe side
Insert JIO sim in SIM 1 slot and any other SIM in other slot. Make sure both SIMs are inserted.
Backup previous system.
Pull out SD card.
To get uninterrupted Jio service you need latest(Lollipop) modem and firmware on your device. To do that flash fastboot rom file.
Flash Fastboot rom-

Let it boot.
Now you need to flash custom recovery(I am using TWRP).

Flash any cm 13.0 based ROM and Gapps.
After setting everything it is possible that you are not getting any network of JIO.
As JIO is only 4G network. Choose only LTE in sim cards setting.
To do that head over to Settings-SIM cards- SIM 1 settings-preferred network type-LTE
Access point names(APN setting).
Name- Internet
APN- jionet
keep everything else as it is.
you don' need to install Jio4GVoice(previously named as JioJoin) app.
To make calls mobile data(JIO) should be ON at all time.

It reboot every time when signal drops during call.
And it is likely to happen frequently as Jio signal is weak to penetrate wall!
I don't think for calling ,data have to on all time on cm 13.I can call without turning on data in cm 13 as it is volte supported.
How is the speed of downloads?? I am getting quite slow speeds afrer a day's use. Also data is on even after mobile data has been switched off from QS.

This means your stock Dialer supports VoLTE( I checked this in Jio4G Voice app) so use stock Dialer
and In India many operators mainly Airtel, vodafone and Idea have rejected interconnection with Jio which results in outright call drop or the message that The network is busy and some of it is fault if Jio as they're increasing their customer base even when they haven't got fully operational servers. SO don't worry as its free in India and there should be some flaws in anything which is free(specially in India)
I didnt get VOlte in my Redmi CM13 custom ROM
i'm unable to use VOlte feature through normal dailerwhether i switched the data connection to ON or OFF .,the call basically disconnects

That means ur device is not volte supported.If u r using any custom rom and if there is a "HD" notification,then u can call by stock dialer.Otherwise u have to use jio4gcall apps
i tried a lot of cm13 based roms and aosp6.0 based roms, something seems to be wrong!! Previously the volte worked in the cm13 roms... now it doesn't... its like it only reverts back to kk bootloader or detects only kk bootloader although I installed miui lp.... Volte only works in miui lp for me! Any suggestion? Help required!

I had a Redmi 4x which when shipped had 8.2 MIUI version (Before some 3 months). That time I checked using Jio and VoLTE worked fine. Then, My mother was using it and now after certain auto updates it was on MIUI v8.5.4.0. I had ported her no to Jio (4G only network), and now VoLTE didn't work at all. I tried flashing Latest MM firmware. I even clean flashed MIUI9 Dev and even then VoLTE didn't work. Always IMS will not at all register (Checked via Phone info). I hence declared somehow Jio network block listed 4x (other countries models) but LTE used to work fine. Out of all hope, I tried Official RR with its own recommended FW and even then VoLTE was down..!! I even changed Device model (Redmi 4x to Redmi 4), still it was in vain. Even tried adding IMS in default AP. Some suggestion to Choose Home IMSI in SIM Toolkit will also not work because latest Jio SIM doesn't ship with SIM Toolkit option at all!!!
After full frustration and wasting one full day, I thought I should change the phone. But somehow suddenly it struck to try fastboot flash the oldest MIUI8 which device was booting initially. So after trying that, Voilaaaa! 1st time seeing VoLTE after long hours and late at night !!!
Somehow Now I flashed latest stable 8.5.4 MIUI and it also has VoLTE working. Even in custom ROMs VOLTE now is working. So yeah just to share my learning, to help people who are having tough time with VoLTE..! :highfive::highfive:

i have redmi 4x imported from china
jio volte works on miui marshmallow but it disapears as soon as i go on nougat miui
So what did you do? At first you installed oldest version(plz tell me which version) via pc, then update to 8.5.4, but plz tell me how you update it, ( pc or mobile?)

Cleean flash santoni_global_images_V8.2.9.0.MAMMIEA_20170427.0000.00_6.0_global and upgrade that to latest Nougat MIUI9 stable.., Thats how it worked for me

Flashed Old MM - santoni_global_images_V8.2.9.0.MAMMIEA_20170427.0000.00_6.0_global then installed the latest Nougat
can we use redmi 4x fastboot rom, for Redmi 4 device??

So I followed yr method & Yes i got my Volte back but now i'm stuck in Marshmallow and there's a bug with the screen auto rotate not functioning. I googled and found that many people who downgraded to MIUI 8 are facing this problem & there it was also written that wen they upgrade to MIUI 9 Nougat screen rotate functions are restored. So here's the thing me being from India need my Volte for Jio and after a long time finally got it to work...But if i upgrade to MIUI 9 Nougat i'm scared that i might lose my Volte again & have to start my previous process allover again starting with unlocking my bootloader as i have locked it while flashing it to MIUI 8. So my question to you is what did u mean when you said " Now I flashed latest stable 8.5.4 MIUI and it also has VoLTE working. " from here did u just did OTA update (coz i'm getting V8.5.2.0 MAMMIED Update via my updater app). Or did u use Fastboot flash to 8.5.4 MIUI .??
BTW I was thinking should i just download a update.zip of the latest stable global V9.2 Rom & flashed it via the Updater App using update package option.. skipping v8.5.2.0 & other minor Updates and just jump to the latest. Will i still have Volte working on my Phone if i update to MIUI 9.

Hi., I unlocked bootloader and I used fastboot method to go back to prev version. Once the volte worked, MIUI9 also got VoLTE working. So try clean flashing latest MiUi and VoLTE would still work...

By clean flashing do u mean fastboot method or update.zip recovery method.....
U see I'm confused as there are many forms of flashing so it fastboot method with miflash right!!.
Ok I will try to download this fastboot stable rom for miui 9.... let's see how it goes.

So I tried and guess what it didn't work. Volte is confirmed to be working only in marshmallow miui8 and as we try to jump to nougat miui9 volte just doesn't work. So i flashed back to marshmallow and then did ota update ( minor 350mb update) which is still Android 6 and volte still works now I get ota update for miui 9 but I'm not willing to jump the gun anymore......
Maybe if I do ota update to miui9 after getting volte maybe it could miraculously get it's volte back but having flashed the phone multiple times and since I need to use this phone I'm gonna stop here so we'll never know if volte is ever gonna work in miui9 via ota...
Btw even if I got volte back the gyro and screen rotation is not working both in the old marshmallow and in the recently updated ota marshmallow. So playing some gyro games and having the gallery to open pics in auto rotate is out of the question.
I even tried flashing persist.img via both fastboot and miflash method & while it didn't allow me to erase and write the persist.img even though my bootloader is unlocked in fastboot method. I did managed to flash it via miflash tool after editing some .bat files via notepad++ so that I only flash the persist.img and not the whole rom.
There's a whole tutorial about this too on Google and guess what again this methods didn't do anything and I have both gyro and auto rotate not functioning.
It will function in miui 9 but in that version we'll know that volte doesn't work so....
My only conclusion is that without Xiaomi dev patching it out there's just no way this bug can be solved by simple flashing as in either form of the OS one ends up sacrificing one function or the other.

This whole VoLTE concept more or less isnt as reliable as legacy 2g/3G calls. Even yesterday for some wierd reason, VoLTE in this phone didn't work. I swapped SIM to another VoLTE where it didn't work on it too. I just let it for half day after which it started working. There isn't one proper way when on rooted phones, to easily get VoLTE related log data, so that we can try fixing the rootcause. Anyways I'm glad somehow you are able to manage...

Btw no offence but you are sure that yr device is Redmi 4X and not Redmi 4, right!!
try to change your location in additional setting from your system location to another location, ex: thailand, and then check your volte setting
Ok that thought never occurred to me but I will not go back to miui 9 for the time being but if I do in the future I will definitely apply this method to check the volte.

I got my redmi 4x from china ;-; works on marshmallow and goes off in nougat (miui) , Custom ROM (all nougat roms works fine with volte) but no volte in Oreo as well as in Pie.. Maybe Locked Bands

Volte never worked for me on custom roms( oreo or pie). Currently on Arrow os (Pie). Tired everything but never got Volte working. It would be great relief for me if i would see volte sign on custom rom.
I face GPS issue (I mean that gps doesn't start at all) while using my phone with lte connection. I have no problem if using my phone with only 3g. I've tried everything but no solutions! This problem started with nougat MIUI update and nothing changed using every single rom whether MIUI or custom.
Is someone facing same issue? Are there any solution for that?
miui forum if full of posts of people with GPS problems with nougat rom and redmi 4x.
As you said, the only solutions seems to be:
1) use of 3G (or aereo mode) instead of 4G when you need GPS
2) install an older ROM with Marshmallow.
hey, Im facing random rebooting at Roaming area only, whenever i was on custom O.S., like LR,NOS (Nougat to Pie) version i felt this kind of problem but i never faced random rebooting when i was on MIUI Rom
i did dirty as well clean flash, update latest firmware, install Fastboot Flash , changed APN setting but still i was unable to solve rebooting problem.
any help or Suggestion would be appreciable
Which custom ROM are you using right now that causes the random reboots?
i was using Liquid Remix pie for last week and on nitrogen os oreo for last 4 months, i guess i changed my service from Vodafone to Idea from those day i got this trouble but yesterday i was on Los i got no problem now I'm on eu 8.2.1 of miui 9
