[PORT] Samsung J2 2016 Theme Store Access - Android Themes

Hi,
All Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 & J2 Pro owners out there, you have choice of only 4 themes to choose from with no theme support (?).
In fact, J2 (2016) series has theme support but has been kept away due to some reasons. I had endlessly searched for theme store access but found it very difficult.
MOST IMPORTANT: This method has worked for me, it may not work for you, do it at your own risk, I am not responsible at all for ALL/ANY of the damage caused to your device / file systems /data etc. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, I REPEAT, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Requirement:
1. Rooted J2-6 (Must)
2. Root Explorer or any file manager capable of handling permissions
Finally, I did following:
1. Change build.prop to that of Samsung Galaxy S7
i. Change ro.product.model=SM-G930F from ro.product.model=SM-J210F
2. Copy following S7 apps to /system/priv-app folder:
i. ThemeCenter.apk (first create folder in the same name, please note that it is case sensitive, then copy this file into that folder)
ii. ThemeStore_3xh.apk(first create folder in the same name, please note that it is case sensitive, then copy this file into that folder)
iii. Please note that folder permission must be set to 0755 and apk file inside folder must have permission set to 0644. (Without this it will not install)
iv. Example: (system\priv-app\ThemeCenter\ThemeCenter.apk)
v. For change of permission, you may refer to various discussions available on xda forums
3. Remove Themes.apk (It is basically a theme chooser app and it will not allow theme store) from system/priv-app {Use system app uninstaller to uninstall theme program easily / Beware: You will lose your pre-install theme by doing this !
4. Install the pasted apk manually by tapping install, it may say not installed, but rebooting few times will install
5. Now open Galaxy Apps, Click on Category, you will see SAMSUNG THEMES with brush logo, click on it and theme store will open, tap the add shortcut to home screen.
6. Download and install any theme you want, Enjoy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Still I have few issues, developers can look into this:
1. How to merge native theme in launcher with theme store (So stock themes can be applied as well - Not required if full theme support can be ported)
2. When I click on My Themes section in theme store, it force closes. (Solved this by installing deodexed J5 2016 touchwiz launcher)
3. Partial Theme Support - Following items are not themed OR themed partially:
i. Dialler
ii. Contacts
iii. Keyboard
iv. Lock Screen wall paper not applied
v. Animated themes not working
If anybody interested in solving this, kindly post a method, also confirm if framework-res.apk needs to be modified ? (I am not pro at such level)
Thanks.

Sure, You can create flashable zip, also arrange to port stock launcher from S7 since themes can be applied directly from launcher.
Thanks.

Yes, Probably, but does your J3 has LL or MM ? because method mentioned here is for MM.
The thing is themecenter.apk is written for MM in S7 / S7 Edge.

Seasons Greetings Everyone! Need help with locating file: ro.product.model=SM-J210F. Would like to really get rolling on these themes as I am painstakingly languid of the ever insipid version of MM's theme. Please, I beg of you... please help!

This is not a file, but you have to use build.prop editor and using find function you need to change the value of your model number to mentioned in my post.
Hope this will help !

Okay, I've installed build.prop editor from the play store. However, the ro.product.model, had no numbers at the end.
It only shows the model of my phone, (SM-N910T). Which of the models do I change it to? Also, I do have a file called: build.prop, in my system folder. Should I change that file to Samsung Galaxy S7?

Just click that name SM-N910T, click edit sign on top right (pen symbol), change the value to that given in my post.
Click save sign. Reboot, Enjoy !
Dont touch build.prop in system folder, build.prop editor will do it for you. Although it is the same file you are editing with editor.
Now your phone is S7 for theme store.
Thanks.

Well, I still have to click on the apk to install, however, after installing system uninstaller, I wasn't able to find: ThemeCenter. If I recall correctly this is the third step before installing themestore... as per your instructions. Not sure whether or not to go ahead and try to install it anyway.
Thanks for all your help...

I believe that your phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and it might not have theme chooser, since method I posted is for J series, you can still continue and install theme center as usual.
You should give it a try. Please follow all steps (which are applicable) and go ahead, it should work.
Please carefully go thorough each step of my post.

Okay, so, I have tried it and everything was going well until I pressed "Samsung Themes". Upon pressing I was then sent to install update, which gave me no success. I got an error me sage (S11) and tells me to try again later... and so I have, but it only leads to the same error message. Could there be an updated version of theme store? Also, I cannot find the file using system uninstaller.

1. System/Priv-app folder (Use root explorer or similar app, sort it in the manner which displays themestore and themecenter folders)
2. About Device (this will display mobile model No.)
Most likely there is minor error, which will be fixed, dont worry.

One more thing, dont download the themes right away, click on "More" in top right corner, click "Settings", Click "About Samsung Themes" and update the theme store version (it will automatically, if not, try manually).
Reboot and retry.
Thanks.

Galaxy apps under settings doesn't show about samsung themes. Not sure if that is what you were referring to. And it shows that the app is up to date.

The original model of my phone is: N910T

Steps To Modify SGS3 Photowall Live Wallpaper
Hi All,
I had tried multiple roms and when used the Photowall Live Wallpaper, I could not point it to the photo gallery to use my own pics. The gallery would never open and I had to do with the default pics which came with the SGS3. (Not sure if anyone has faced this issue).
After playing around with the apk files I did find a way to use my own pics in the PhotoWall Live Wallpaper. I hope you would like this.
A: Uploading your pictures in the Photowall.apk file.
1. Select a maximum of 8 pictures that you wish to use in the Photowall and move them to a folder on your desktop.
2. Rename the 8 pictures as follows: g1p1.jpg / g1p2.jpg / g1p3.jpg / g1p4.jpg / g1p5.jpg / g1p6.jpg / g2p1.jpg / g2p2.jpg
3. Extract the Photowall.apk from ICS ROM onto a folder on your desktop. (I used RemICS v1.3, haven’t tried this is on any other ROM).
4. Open the apk file using winrar. (Do not extract, just open)…. Navigate to the PhotoWall.apk\res\raw folder.
5. You should be able to see the files as shown in the screenshot 1.jpg
6. Click on “Add” and navigate to the folder where you have stored the pictures (remember to rename them as mentioned in step 2).
7. Select the files and click “OK”. This will replace the original files in the Photowall.apk.
8. Once this is done, exit/close the apk file opened in winrar.
You can try installing this file directly by copying it to your phone, however that didn’t work on my phone.
B: Uploading your customized Photowall.apk file in your ROM. (Tested on RemICS v1.3).
1.Open the Rom that you wish to flash (I used RemICS UX v1.3) using winrar (do not extract)
2.Navigate to \data\app folder.
3.Click on “Add” and navigate to the folder where you have saved your customized Photowall.apk. (Make sure that the name is “Photowall.apk”).
4.This will replace the original Photowall.apk with your customized file.
5.Exit and save the zip file.
6.Use the new edited Rom and copy it to the root of your “Internal SD” card.
7.Reboot the phone to “Recovery” and flash the new Rom. (I did not lose my data & settings as I did not wipe cache partition or Data/Factory, however this may or may not work for you. To be on a safer side please backup your data and applications. I will not be responsible for any data loss or bricked devices while trying this procedure. Try at your own risk.).
You can watch the video on the link below (sorry for the poor quality)

Special thanks toTeam RemICS for the beautiful Rom.
If you liked my work, please use the thanks meter.

I think you over complicated the install process by a bit...
Why not just use a file explorer with root permissions and place the new Photowall.apk back to /system/app where it actually belongs, reboot the phone and be done with it? (/system/app is where live wallpapers that come with the phone are located by default, not /data/app)
As you can see here on my GS3, two of the several live wallpapers (phase beam and photo wall) are in /system/app
And these are the proper permissions for the apk
I tried that, but that wont work..... that the reason i mentioned
" You can try installing this file directly by copying it to your phone, however that didn’t work on my phone. "
Unfortunately wht u menitioned didnt work for me...
correct me if I am wrong... did u mention SG3... for SG3, you dont need to modify the photowall.apk, if you go to the wallpaper settings you can select pics from your gallery..

Yes, I understand that on the SG3 you don't need to do this, but on a Captivate, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to place it in /system/app and still have it work.

[GUIDE] Change Hotseat Icons in TouchWiz when they are Locked

Hi guys,
Today I want to share some simple, yet somewhat unknown information.
Lots of users lost the ability to move the Hotseat Icons in TouchWiz after a firmware update.
After spending hours searching and reading about things like editing .apk files, the answer was basically no.
I thought I would check in the old firmware for the differences and found it in the CSC!
All you need is Root Access and a File Manager App!
Step 1) Mount the System as read/write
Step 2) Browse to /system/CSC/
Step 3) Open others.xml as plain text (your file may be called features.xml)
Step 4) Find the feature: <CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>
Step 5) Delete that feature, including the value and the end </> tag.
Step 6) Save the file, Reboot your phone.
Now you can drag the Hotseat Icons around again!
Notes:
This was tested on the I9305T with the DVUENC1_XSAEND2 Stock firmware.
This should work on other Samsung devices too, but I haven't tested that.
Have a great day!

1. get a file explorer with root
2. download this font pack here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ont-pack-966-fonts-one-apk-s6-s6edge-t3154336 (or this, link from same thread: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847292972)
3. extract it, navigate to SamsungSans folder and copy it
4. copy the folder + font apk file to your sd card or usb otg
5. open up root explorer, give it root permission, make sure it is r/w and not r/o, and then navigate to /system/app/ (make sure again its r/w and not r/o)
6. copy SamsungSans there
7. change file permissions, SamsungSans folder = rwxrwxr-x, but the APK file change it to rw-r-r
8. reboot
9. you should be able to use any font available as you wish now
EDIT: SORRY just realized you said you're NOT rooted. my apologies, but i'll leave the guide there for anyone who wants to change fonts but dont know how to (on rooted devices)
for your case, due to samsung needing to have some sort of digital signature in order to use 3rd party fonts, the only way for you is to buy them on the store.

Keyboard Theme MODs from Galaxy Themes on Note 5

Editing Keyboard themes in Galaxy Themes on Note 5
I have been trying to figure out how to change only the Keyboards from Galaxy themes on my Note 5 for a while and have not found any links on how to accomplish this. It is similar to changing the Icon packs and other settings in the themes only there are separate apk files that are installed specifically for the keyboard during the install, so you can not just edit the script file to change them. I am just posting this in case anyone else was wondering how to do this and hopefully it will help someone. Please let me know if there is an easier way.
First, Make a Backup!
Make sure the default theme is applied!
To get to your themes, Go To [Root]:
Data > Overlays > jsonfiles > UserJSON (Themes)
To use Keyboard from Theme A with Theme B
Data > Overlays > Style
You’ll see a list of your themes there...
Find Theme a Folder and open:
Copy the 3 files that end in “inputmethod.apk” “inputmethod_cn.apk” & “Japan.apk”
After copying in a new folder They should look like:
Theme_A.inputmethod.apk
Theme_A.inputmethod_cn.apk
Theme_A.Japan.apk
Rename the 3 files to the name of the theme that you want to use them with, but leaving the ".inputmethod.apk..." (I’m using Theme B)
When finished they should look something like This:
Theme_B.inputmethod.apk
Theme_B.inputmethod_cn.apk
Theme_B.Japan.apk
Go back to:
Data > Overlays > style
Open Theme B Folder and copy the 3 renamed Keyboard apk files over the 3 matching files in Theme B Folder...
ReBoot!
After restarted, Apply Theme B and the only thing different should be that it will have Theme A’s Keyboard.

Hey, thanks.
IT WORKED
But as soon as I reboot the phone, the keyboard goes back to normal.
ANY SOLUTION?
I haven't had that problem. It could possibly have something to do worth the read write permissions on your system partition. Maybe they are reseting back to read only when you're restart and somehow it is deleting your change. The only thing I would make sure is you have BusyBox installed Superuser is updated to the newest version and that your system drive has read write permissions.
When I flash a new ROM to make sure I have read write permissions on system partition, this is what I do:
Go in to recovery (I use TWRP)
Go to ADVANCED -> TERMINAL EMULATOR
TYPE the command: restorecon -Rv /data/media (press enter)
When it's finished running command I restart. Go to root explorer and make sure system partition Is R/W (rw-r-r 0644) and not read only.
It was something I just kind of came across I'm not 100% familiar with why it would do that the only thing I can tell you is that I'm using TEKHD ROM MM and getting the read write permissions to stick is the most difficult thing I have come across. This is what usually works for me but I would look the permissions. If anyone else has any suggestions on getting the permissions fixed I would like to know also because it also affects multi-window for all apps.

GameTurbo, VideoToolbox, Context Menu in Launcher and Special Features

Here are modules that enable most important missing features to all Garden devices except Cattail.
All this modules are created by me. My username on 4PDA is redmi9c
Security 6.0.2: (GameTurbo with Voice Changer, VideoToolbox, Sidebar, Power Slider for battery, Night Charge, Battery Health)
MiuiHome 4.26: (Full Context Menu with Split Screen and Floating Windows, Recommend option in Recents enabled for China ROM as well, and Max Grid increased to 6x8)
Settings: (Special Features section, option to set Split Screen on hotkey and Navigation Line)
Delete long name folder inside "\data\system\package_cache\", uninstall Security and MiuiHome updates, than install modules and reboot phone.
Settings module is only for Miui 12.
Needed Magisk to install them.
If you want pictures I can post them but you can also find them on 4PDA forums.
Great work
Now my phone's feels me quite refreshing but why I am seeing this
After flashing settings module settings have been renamed to extend wifi coverage
How I can fix it
Delete long name folder inside "\data\system\package_cache\", than reboot phone. There is only one folder there, it has very long name consisted from numbers and letters and you need to delete it. There is only cache in there. When you delete it, restart will take a bit longer than usual so don't panic and let it boot normally.
Thanks this is perfect and gives my phone features from the flagships
I don't know how to find this folder.. please help me.. can give some screenshots please?

you need a root file manager.
Hello, I have MIUI 12.0.18 and modul Settings unlocked blocks me Options for developers (moznosti pre vyvojarov). It is bad. Why does doing it?

That's because Xiaomi started updating Settings.apk. You can enable it yourself. Locate Settings.apk in "system/product/priv-app/Settings/Settings.apk". Copy it to somewhere else. Download MT Manager app, and find where you copied Settings.apk with MT Manager. Click on it, then click View. After that click on Classes.dex then "Dex Editor Plus", then on OK. From there to Search than "Start New Search" and in "Text Field" type from example "angelica" that is Redmi 9C. It will find 2 files. There just change your phone codename to something different like (angelica to xangelica) or something in both files. Than just go back and it will ask you to save it. From there just click on moded apk to see if Signature value is "Verified failed" in red, that means that it is OK. From there just copy moded APK to "/data/adb/modules/Settings/system/product/priv-app/Settings/" and replace Settings.apk. Then reboot phone, and if you see some glitches delete that long name folder inside "/data/system/package_cache" and reboot. If you don't want to mess with this you could just disable Magisk module, delete that folder inside "/data/system/package_cache" and reboot, than change settings in "Developer options", and enable module again and delete that folder inside "/data/system/package_cache" again. If you mess it and get bootloop just in TWRP go to file manager and navigate to "/data/adb/modules/" and delete Settings folder and reboot and module will be removed.
