XT1254 prefered LTE band, "LTE only" radio mode - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

When I set radio modem in LTE/GSM(auto) mode all is ok - phone registered and works in LTE network, but when I set to "LTE only" mode, phone goes to enternal network search and found nothing (no network registered).
I think it's because in "LTE only" mode phones set to only Verizon LTE band 13, not global LTE.
How I can make phone works in mode "LTE only"?
If I need to change this "prefered" Verizon LTE band, how can I do this?
I use Verizon XT1254 bootloader unlocked + SU4TL-49 (5.1) stock in LTE band 3 (1800).

Not wise to go LTE only.
If you go LTE only, what happens when there's no LTE?
Like when there's only 3G coverage?
Or want to make a phone call? (Phone needs to drop down to 3G coverage, since you are not using Verizon and would not have access to Verizon's VoLTE. I'm in the U.S. on AT&T and drop down to HSPA temporarily for phone calls on my Quark, since I don't have access to AT&T's VoLTE.)
I would never go to LTE only as that would ensure my phone could not make phone calls (on the carrier I use) or even have data at all times (in poor LTE coverage areas).

I don't see that you have a problem. You said it works fine in LTE/GSM auto mode and you get LTE fine in that mode.

For some reason you want to cripple your phone in "LTE only" mode so you can't make/receive any phone calls (mobile voice calls don't work on regular LTE, only on 3G bands) -- and you wouldn't have the option of dropping down to 3G even for data in poor LTE areas.
So, what problem do you have except for the one you're trying to create?

I want to use "LTE only" mode when I share internet connection to my laptop, because my network carrier provide unlimited free LTE traffic, but limited 3G traffic.
I also use Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) in "LTE only" mode and it works OK, so why XT1254 can't work the same way.
In "LTE/GSM(auto)" mode XT1254 sometimes break LTE connection (about 2 hours continuous data stream) and switch to 3G, so I want to use LTE on force mode, as I use Huawei F3372h now.

Your Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) works in "LTE only" mode for extended periods of time in the exact same locations as your phone? Is it the same carrier or a different carrier?
Because in LTE/GSM (auto) mode on your phone, you should get LTE if LTE is available. You will get lower (3G/2G) either when LTE is not available or IF your carrier is kicking you off for some reason (congestion or maybe some kind of time/data limit). In those instances that you are NOT getting LTE now on your phone, I don't think you would get LTE by being in an LTE-only mode. I think instead you would get just no data, since the phone would not be able to downgrade to 3G/2G.
I may be wrong, but that's my theory. However, if your Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) works in "LTE only" mode for extended periods of time in the exact same locations with the same carrier , then I don't know.

There is one thing you can try...
I'm that same menu, press the three dots on the top right>select umts bands>usa only.
For me personally, this limited me to lte, and i had to reflash everything to fix it. I think 950mhz (to name one) was still working so this may not even make a difference to you

Yes, same location, same network carrier and even same phone number (2 sim-cards for same number).

Thanks, but this not work for me.
I found solution:
"LTE only" mode works only with radio MDM9625_104651.11.05.17R from VRZ_XT1254_5.1.1_LCF23.80_CFC_SVC / quark_verizon-user_LCF23.80_release-keys_firmware_upgrade_SVC firmware.
Thanks to sl2208 user from 4pda.

Interesting. So every update since that July 2015 XT1254 firmware upgrade breaks that mode on the XT1254? That firmware folder is not complete, by the way. Doesn't even have SUTL-49. But I assume you are probably on SUTL-49 already?
The dates in that folder are only upload dates, not release dates. The upload dates are up to a year off from actual release dates. And they also have XT1225 firmware in the "XT1254" folder, for some strange reason.
And I know it's from July 2015 because of this post:

I tried SUTL-44, SUTL-49 and
VRZ_XT1254_KDF21.128-15_15_CFC_SVC, nothing of these works with ""LTE only" mode. Then I asked on 4pda forum and user sl2208 tells me, that he tried all firmwares from this folder and only with LCF23.80 "LTE only" mode works.

this might be out of topic but kind a related ...
I'm using 1254 with 1225 stock India 6.0.1 ... I'm able to set LTE only and data working just fine (I'm using GSM Provider) so I dont consider this is some kind of problem before.
the problem for me is ... the default value is "LTE/GSM" ... and when there's call in ... it's drop to "E" not to any 3G network [H+/H/3G or umts]
is there any option to set it to "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" (might be from build.prop or else ... since there's no option like that in *#*#4636#*#* ...

There are two ways......
1... If your boot loader is locked you have to wait you might get official Verizon/Motorola version probably later this or at the next month...
2....If you are unlocked (boot loader )you can unlock the Boot loader and flash the 6.1 version.

Be better to unlock the bootloader and wait for people to upload copies to manually flash with unlocked bootloader.
If your bootloader is locked you will get the OTA, but your bootloader may remain locked down forever after that. Sunshine can't promise an exploit.
With unlocked bootloader you can have the official Verizon Marshmallow firmware AND do other stuff -- like root, install xposed, etc.

N5 hidden Field Test Mode

Root method found to change settings without MSL, download v2.0 of the app from the Play Store to use
I was looking at a way to enable CDMA on my N5, and stumbled onto a little file called "SprintHiddenMenu.apk" that comes on every phone it appears (at least the North American model).
It has the following "secret codes" defined for the dialer. I couldn't get them to show up, but I tried with a GSM sim card:
It looks like it only works SIM serial number starting with "8901120" (bypassed, see edit for details)
The below either have to be dialed via *#*#<number>#*#* or ##<number># (I can't test, since I don't have a Sprint UICC card)
I have no idea what these do, only that there is code to handle them. They may cause your phone to be bricked, so don't just enter them randomly and see what happens
33284 - Unknown (field test mode?)
3282 - Something to do with mmsc/evdo/forceLTE settings
786 - RTN settings (reset?)
72786 - Something also having to do with reset?
675 or 68575 - Something to do with changing MSL/MSID
8378 - Something to do with SPC test/check
There also seems to be a built in field test mode for CDMA/LTE (first code seems to access it). It provides info such as sector id/color code/channel/rx-txt power for CDMA and serving cell/EARFCN/plmn id/etc for LTE.
There are also details for 1xRTT, eHRPD, etc
This could possibly be the first Nexus device equipped with a proper field test mode, albeit Sprint only. I also see the LG has very tight integration into the RIL, with their proprietary extensions being used for some aspects of RIL operations.
EDIT:
Found a way to start Field Test mode manually, bypassing the UICC serial check
start adb shell and type:
Code:
am start -n com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.sprintspec.Debug
The above works for *any* LTE network, even if you register on it. For example, I can camp and Rogers (Canada) and get all the info I want (especially DL channel and band 4):

FInding #2. Configuration Editor
start adb shell and type:
Code:
am start -n com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.sprintspec.Data
Apparently, you can enable/disable LTE and bands individually ( Band 26 and 41 disabled).
A few options/features of note (there are many menus):
Enable/disable eHRPD
View data settings for Sprint CDMA network
See ESN/MEID/Home NID and SID
Some of these seem dangerous, especially any "edit" option or "device self service."
App to do all the above
I have created an app to launch this more easily.

Well there are two:
1. It lets you mess with hidden Sprint settings without having to have Sprint do it.
2. It lets you get info about the LTE network you are connected to (like the frequency). So you can tell which bands are being used in various regions/buildings/etc. Basically, for networks geeks.
This is awesome! Was always jealous of Samsung's service menus.

I wonder if this exists for GSM as well. Too bad this menu doesn't list the channel width.

I couldn't find any reference to GSM or UMTS inside the app. Keep in mind this was exclusively created for Sprint. We're just lucky it works on any LTE network. They purposely put that SIM serial checking in place so that it ensured it was only used on Sprint.
Yeah, channel width would be nice. I didn't see it anywhere in the menus, so looks like we're out of luck unless I missed it. Personally, I'm more than happy that even the info provided in those screens is there.
With Sprint, top three I'm pretty familiar with. The bottom two are new to me and seem unnecessary to mess with.
*#*#DATA#*#* (3282) - CDMA Data programming, obviously. With MSL allows you to turn on/off LTE Band 41(2.5Ghz) and LTE Band 26(800Mhz) along with other things.
*#*#DEBUG#*#* (33284) - Lets you see all the radio information. Which band you are connected to, serving cell, power levels, SNR, Ec/Io, which freq channel on uplink/downlink.
*#*#SCRTN#*#* (72786) - This does a complete re-activation, resetting the modem, your profile, and PRL. Phone reboots.
*#*#675#*#* and *#*#68575#*#* - Seems to just let you view MDN and MSID and set only MDN. Probably not wise to mess with.
*#*#8378#*#* - 1x Diversity, EvDo Diversity, MRD, and EVRC_B settings. No idea what these are.

For your app also add *#*#4636#*#* which is the dialer code to access radio profiles (LTE/CDMA , LTE /GSM, etc).
Good shortcuts to the dialer area and will recommend to others over @ s4gru.
Interesting thing I noticed this morning, the phone will search through all bands (1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41) when there is no reception. This seems hugely inefficient, shouldn't the radio know, I'm currently on T-Mo, only search for band 4, or I'm currently on Sprint, only search through bands 25, 26 and 41

I'll add it tonight. My main point for the app (for starters) was to launch the test mode on non-Sprint devices, since it checks the SIM serial number and blocks launching via the dialer. I'll try to find a few more pages and add them to be launched as well.

I don't believe there is any way for the phone to know. The SIM card doesn't carry any information about the bands used. It is basically up to the phone to discover.
The LTE scan is lightning fast for me though, about 3-5 secs at most to scan all those. Compared to an UMTS scan which takes a good 20-30 seconds.

The phone knows the MCC and MNC, that should be enough for it to filter out which bands to search.

well, does the SIM card store that info somewhere, or some standard in the GSM/CDMA/? that allows the phone to query the network which bands to scan for?
bands update all the time (t-mobile refarming AWS for LTE instead of 2G/3G). you can roam to another network's LTE band. if the standard doesn't give you a way to store/query that info, you can't just hardcode on the ROM/baseband "only look at bands 6-9 for MCC 310 MNC 410" (which is at&t's network)
Yes, the bands used by a provider are dynamic, so it would be a hard feature to implement for relatively little savings.
For example, AT&T has band 4 LTE only in rare markets, how would the SIM know? Store a list of LTE TACs?

Has anyone attempted editing build.prop ro.build.user value from "user" to "dev" or something else to see if that opens up any further dialer codes or prevents the reboot situation reported when trying the nexus 4 methods?

Now the band 41 is closing by Default setting.

So what is the "Service code"?
Do I need a Sprint SIM card if I want to edit the LTE info. I mean open the band 41

[Q] No data roaming?

Good day!
I currently work in the "hollers" of WV, where, on my HTC EVO 4G LTE I had data roaming and could even tether at times when needed for my laptop. However, since getting my HTC One M8, I have never seen or had data roaming. Within network settings, I have:
Network mode = LTE/CDMA
Roaming = automatic
Domestic voice = checked
Domestic data = checked
I have roaming voice, but no data at all.
I called Sprint and the particular individual I spoke with was like, "That sucks, your old phone works because its a different version of Android and there is nothing you can do".
They were not helpful.
Am I missing a setting? For what reason would my EVO LTE work on data roaming but the M8 won't?
EDIT:

I had all sorts of issues with Roaming on my first phone.
I think that's where my problems started.
Extremely frustrating issue.
New phone roams normally.
Are your roaming guard options greyed out.
You could try ##786# if all else fails (which wipes evetything and triggers reactivation)
Then immediately turn off roaming guards and enable roaming.
I'd be curious if your phone runs in CDMA only.
mine would run fine on LTE but no roaming. And would not run on most CDMA only towers
My gut feeling is that there is an Antenna issue in the phone that causes some bands to malfunction.
I have no LTE in my area.
I am not sure what the problem is, but I am going to have to bite the bullet that I don't have data roaming in the area I am in for work.
Perhaps in others areas I will. I have not yet seen it in data roaming, but i Haven't traveled much since getting the phone.
Sounds like you might have got one of the bad first batch phones. I would return it. My phone roams just fine.

You can hide it fairly easy without removing it. I feel your pain.
Flash the HBOOT that that masks everything out.
NAND Backup. Install a Stockish ROM and Factory Reset it.
And put on a Stock Recovery.
They will likely want to factory reset it.
To be extra cautious I changed my CID to SPC_004 (Harman). I have had technicians run an RUU to fully reset the phone.
If they do have an RUU it will fail and technician will just scratch his head. Their RUU will surely be for SPC_001 (if they have one).
These days I think in store service has really been dumbed down. All they do is reset your phone. They don't "diagnose" anything.
When you get back home all have to do is reinstall recovery and NAND restore.
Oh, you might want to remove your SD Card with TWRP backups and Custom ROMs when you bring it in

I noticed that you can also change Network Mode from LTE/CDMA to Automatic. When on Automatic you can then select the Allow GSM data option. Could you try that and let me know if Automatic and those options allow your phone to roam with data while in WV? WV is my home state, which I get back to every once in a while.
Yes, that is the whole point of the article. It does exactly that. Allows you to have data roaming on GSM, whereas it is not turned on by default. Those tricksters.

Same issue, any solution for this?
I returned the M8 that day and I'm back on my M7. Never did resolve the issue.

That's sad to know, there should be a solution here, did you try anything after that? installing custom roms, upgrading or anything?
Service at my home location was horrible (virtually no data nor voice) so I didn't want to do too much to the phone. It did do a ROM update immediately after I obtained the phone prior to going home. Sprints towers in my area just aren't ready for the technology.

Are the options there but greyed out or are they missing all together? If they are just greyed out you need to change the Network mode. Different modes have different options.

4G Data but no voLTE calls defaults 3g

Hello all,
Recently purchased this phone.
As stated in the title I get 4g but when making or receiving a call default to 3g. Immediately back to 4g as soon as call over.
I disabled region check and Enhanced 4G LTE Mode toggle appeared in Mobile Network Settings. I enabled and restarted.
Also went into phone info using *#*#4636#*#* and all flags for voLTE are on there as well.
Carrier: Consumer Cellular (T mobile sim)
Bands 2 and 4
Does anyone know how to resolve ?

Have you enabled volte with your carrier?

Maybe this can help you:
Download and install 4G Only Network Mode from Google Play Store.
Modify advanced network convigoration by opening the secret settings:
Click on Open Secret Settings
Under Set Preffered Network Type, choose LTE ONLY
This will automatically force your phone to exclusively connect to the 4G LTE only network.

I called them, they did something on their end so now calls start in 3g but go the 'H" after a few seconds.
Probably still not volte but an improvement.
My understanding is that volte calls have an "HD" for this phone

volte carrier check needs to be "disabled" btw
try switching to airplane mode and back. also make sure you have your sim in sim1!
what country/carrier are you on?

Yes, you're right. When volte is enabled you should see an HD icon next to your signal strength icon. Just like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After your carrier enables volte you should reboot if you haven't already. Volte is used only with 4G, so after the reboot you should get the HD icon when you're connected on 4G. To test it out (or if you are still on 3G/H) do the following:
Press *#*#86583#*#* on dialer until carrier check is disabled. If it says enabled, just type it in again.
Then press *#*#4636#*#* on dialer to start the hidden menu. Go to the first tab, I believe it's called phone information, and scroll down where its says preferred network type. Note down the default value (it should restore on reboot and flight mode, but just in case) and select LTE (or 4G if it's called that) only. You will lose signal for a moment, and then you should be back running in 4G. Obviously, you need to be on a location with good 4G coverage.
Then, just make a call. If it gets through without dropping the data connection (4G symbol stays on), you're on volte. Go back to *#*#4636#*#* to restore your preferred network type, and enjoy
I tried everything posted so far but no luck.
I have a nexus 5x on with an identical sim on the same network/towers that shows me lte over the bars.
This phone only shows me 4G ..... is the phone capable of displaying lte ?
When selecting preferred network type lte only. It will drop the call.
LTE is 4G. Each phone uses different symbols, but it's the same. The fact that it drops the call probably means that volte is not enabled... weird. Have you contacted your carrier about it?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/guide-volte-t-mobile-yes-actually-t3869677
I just figured it out. Just follow the guide.
Thanks for the post Daha3ker ..... I will see if anyone else tries it before giving it a go.
I am quite sure at this point its a network issue as it is also happening on my Nexus 5x (LTE then H during call)
Confirmed it is a network issue. They are sending me ATT sims to try.
The tech support wasn't the brightest bulb, she kept trying to convince me I need to be on wifi to place an LTE call.
After some passive aggressive attempts to convince me she finally told me T-mobile does not support volte with them.
VoLTE depends of the carrier, it has to be enabled on his network equipments.
Some carriers enable it per phone line (they have to enable it for your line)
Moreover, some carriers restrict VoLTE for specific devices. Here in France, Orange enable VoLTE only for Apple and Samsung devices...

What if you just use a Samsung or Apple device to enable it?
Here in Greece, Cosmote also enables VoLTE only for specific devices, Samsung, Apple and Huawei. The Mi A2 isn't one of them. But I managed to... side-enable it. I just inserted my sim card in a Huawei device and sent the text to enable it. They enabled it in my sim, and of course it still works after I moved the sim back to the A2

Orange say that it is available and automatically enabled on Apple devices, and on Samsung devices which were purchased in Orange stores. So I think there is something special in phone rom.
Problem resolved. Was a carrier issue.
Required an ATT sim and add a new Access Point
* Note if using Consumer Cellular you will need the ATT sim for Volte.
Tmobile does not support Volte on CC as relayed by tech.

LG V40 keeps dropping cellular and wifi connection

LG V40 keeps dropping cellular and wifi connection.. When ever I am connected to Wi-Fi data both the Wi-Fi and cellular network keeps dropping connection. If the phone is connected only by data network. it works fine. Have to put it on airplane mode then put on the Wi-Fi to work. This issues only happens with certain Sims. With others works great. The sims are not the issue because the sims were tested on other devices
A few things to check:
1) Make sure you have data roaming turned off.
2) In Wi-Fi settings, disable 'Auto connect Automatically connect to an available AT&T Wi-Fi HotSpot' (this applies to AT&T Rom only, disregard if you have cross-flashed).
3) In Wi-Fi settings, tap on three dots, and go into advanced settings and make sure 'Aggressive Mode' is not enabled.
4) In Developer Options, make sure 'Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover' is disabled.
5) In Developer Options, make sure 'Cellular data always active' is enabled.
6) In Network & Internet settings, go into 'Data Manager', make sure 'Limit mobile data usage' is disabled. Also, in same menu click on three dots and select option 'Restrict networks' just to check you don't have any Wi-Fi connections restricted.
7) There is a setting to 'avoid weak Wi-Fi signals', which in combination with bad cellular signal at your location could also be causing this problem. I just can't find this setting in Oreo (or perhaps it is reworded into one of the above), if you are on Pie, it might be there somewhere, look for it and disabled it if you find it.
8) If nothing above helps, consider resetting your network settings in same menu where you do factory reset.
Other than that, may be someone else can help further but I am pretty sure they'd wanna know if you're on Oreo or Pie. What your native hardware model is, and if you cross-flashed, which carrier KDZ you are on.
Edit: Also, was the phone ever opened to replace battery or do repairs? Wi-Fi and Cellular antennas are pretty much stickers that clasp on and go around between battery and back panel and sometimes after repairs they are not put back on properly and can result in weak signals.
Facing same issue on my indian lg v405ebw with vodafone sim when wifi is in use sim network often goes out and only turning airplane mode on off or restarting phone gets the network back.
If wifi is turned off no issue in network reception.

Am from the Caribbean. We have 3 network providers. It works perfect with digicel, but looses the signal with flow and inet. Could it be the network band. Inte and flow have the same network band. But digicel is different. What network band is carrier?

Yeah, no point in having LTE enabled in the Caribbean. I used Lime and Digicel on T-Mobile and Verizon phones when I was living in Grenada for a while. You are right, phone bands need to be compatible with the carrier bands but in this case I think some of the bands might be software locked too. For compatible bands check on this website, for example Lime and Digicel bands for Grenada: https://www.frequencycheck.com/countries/grenada
Also, i think by default LG V40 do not have all the bands enabled, they get region locked depending on which region KDZ you are using. Depending on which KDZ you cross-flashed to, you can verify which of the bands that are enabled in the hidden menu. I did not have band selection sub-menu on my AT&T LG V40 and not sure if you will have this menu in your phone or not but doesn't hurt to check. Just be careful not to change any settings in hidden menu that you don't know about, you can really mess up your phone if start toggling random settings. You can dial *#546368#*405# in your dialer and go in 'Field Test' then 'Modem Settings' then 'LTE Band Selection' and can try enable all bands. Depending on which carrier phone you have, you may not have these options available in hidden menu as my phone didn't have these (until i cross-flash).

Global version in the U.S.

So, I just got the Global version and am on T-mobile. Does anyone know how to activate HD voice(Volte) as the following codes done seem to work on this phone.
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
Also, the charger only goes to 66 watt charging. I assume because of the voltage difference in the U.S.? Any thought or suggestions are appreciated.
Hey man, I just got the Chinese version (model PFEM10) and I can't seem to enable VoLTE or VoWiFi as well. I am on MetroPCS (basically T-Mobile) and when plugging in my SIM card I don't get any 4G connectivity whatsoever. I ordered the phone from AliExpress, and it came factory sealed in the box with plastic wrapping and all so I know it wasn't tampered with or anything like that. I don't know where I went wrong because the Chinese version of the Oppo Find X5 Pro supports 5/6 4G bands for MetroPCS/T-Mobile. And the codes you listed for VoLTE and VoWiFi also don't work for me, the phone app just goes back to the blank state after typing in the last asterisk (*).
Can confirm on the 66 watt charging, I have the 80w SuperVOOC brick and it definitely doesn't do 80W, limited to 66.
Do you get any mobile data on T-Mobile with the international version? I'm so bummed, there is very little information about this phone online and I thought that purchasing the China version for use on a GSM network in the USA would be fine because it supports 80% of the 4G bands...any ideas?

I actually answered in your other thread. lol
But I believe the CN version doesn't work from the IME numbers I was entering when I was looking for the phone. The global version showed fully compatible even though I don't get 5g.. Also, in the T-Mobile app, it shows as a Oneplus 7 Pro which is ironic because my son has that phone and his shows as a Pixel 4.

I was so naive to think that if the network bands matched up, I would be good to go, because I have thought for the longest time that was all that required if the phone was unlocked and you were switching over to a GSM network. I will definitely have to use and tell other people about IMEI compatibility in the future, because I just went through two weeks of hell waiting for this phone to come from Hong Kong and then learning that it won't even work lol

Hey bro,
I ended up reselling the CN version I imported and bought the UK/EU/Global model (CPH2305) instead. Works fine on Metro, get strong 4G just about everywhere. Seems like a recent firmware update enabled 5G (VoNR) as well, but it only has 1 compatible band. I think the battery will drain less on 4G so I just disabled the 5G. Talked to countless reps about VoLTE and WiFi calling but still haven't gotten anywhere with the global model. I'd love to know if it's a software issue...

Glad you were able to sort that out with the Global version. Interesting.. Which update was it? Color OS or something else. My current Color OS version is A17. I don't see any 5g settings yet. My Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has the same 5g band and I was getting great coverage in my area so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 5g to be enabled on my X5.
I'm on A17 as well I believe (CPH2305_11_A.17). The thing is, the update didn't enable 5G the way you think it would. The only reason I found out is because I was playing around in the developer settings (check attachment) and found 'VoNR calls' as a new setting.

But there's more. When you enable this function, 5g won't work out of the box. You can try to go to SIM settings and change the network type but it will still say '4g/3g/2g (auto)' with no option to include 5g. So here's what I did. Go to the play store and install an app called 'network mode (universal)' by JunHyung Lee (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ljh.networkmode). Open it and find the list that's called 'set preferred network type'. I think the default is GSM/WCDMA/LTE (PRL).
I changed it to NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA. after doing that and rebooting I got 5g on my X5 Pro.

Good to know. I am assuming this is N41? Do you have the net monster app or similar to see what band/s you are connected to and the carrier aggregation? How are the speeds?

I owe you many beers Sir, worked like a charm. I actually saw those settings for VONR in the developer settings. I didn't know about the app but I was trying to access those settings through the phone codes but they don't seem to work on Oppo phones. 5g is working well now. Thanks!

it must be N41.
Thanks for your suggestion of using NetMonster to see that band usage etc. The speeds are roughly similar to 4G, maybe a little slower seeing as I don't have as much coverage going off one 5g band vs. multiple 4g bands (2/4/12/etc).
It seems as though even though I can enable VoNR (5G) in the developer settings, I think the signal indicator in the status bar is telling a lie. I don't think it's really 5G. I changed my connection state from GSM/WCDMA/LTE (PRL) to NR/WCDMA/LTE/GSM as I detailed in my previous post and then ran NetMonster.
Here's what it looks like on 4G. everything normal:
And here's what it looks like on '5G':
I could click on the part that says 'Disconnected', and NetMonster shows the following:
So I think it's still 4G despite saying 5G. Not sure what this means as there are many possibilities. Let me know what you guys think as I don't really know where to go from here. Disabled VoNR for now and just using plain ol' 4G.
When I run Speedtest, it definitely shows 5g connected and I've seen speeds up to 180mb/s. If I run it when it shows 4g, LTE shows up in Speedtest so it's definitely connecting to 5g when it's available. The VoNR setting in Developers seems to have no impact either way.
And on 4g.
Now that I'm on Color OS 13, Volte and Vowifi are now active and working. IMS is now registered and I get 4G and 4G+. No 5G but I'm okay with that.
