Hello all,
Recently purchased this phone.
As stated in the title I get 4g but when making or receiving a call default to 3g. Immediately back to 4g as soon as call over.
I disabled region check and Enhanced 4G LTE Mode toggle appeared in Mobile Network Settings. I enabled and restarted.
Also went into phone info using *#*#4636#*#* and all flags for voLTE are on there as well.
Carrier: Consumer Cellular (T mobile sim)
Bands 2 and 4
Does anyone know how to resolve ?

Maybe this can help you:
Download and install 4G Only Network Mode from Google Play Store.
Modify advanced network convigoration by opening the secret settings:
Click on Open Secret Settings
Under Set Preffered Network Type, choose LTE ONLY
This will automatically force your phone to exclusively connect to the 4G LTE only network.

I called them, they did something on their end so now calls start in 3g but go the 'H" after a few seconds.
Probably still not volte but an improvement.
My understanding is that volte calls have an "HD" for this phone

Yes, you're right. When volte is enabled you should see an HD icon next to your signal strength icon. Just like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}
After your carrier enables volte you should reboot if you haven't already. Volte is used only with 4G, so after the reboot you should get the HD icon when you're connected on 4G. To test it out (or if you are still on 3G/H) do the following:
Press *#*#86583#*#* on dialer until carrier check is disabled. If it says enabled, just type it in again.
Then press *#*#4636#*#* on dialer to start the hidden menu. Go to the first tab, I believe it's called phone information, and scroll down where its says preferred network type. Note down the default value (it should restore on reboot and flight mode, but just in case) and select LTE (or 4G if it's called that) only. You will lose signal for a moment, and then you should be back running in 4G. Obviously, you need to be on a location with good 4G coverage.
Then, just make a call. If it gets through without dropping the data connection (4G symbol stays on), you're on volte. Go back to *#*#4636#*#* to restore your preferred network type, and enjoy
I tried everything posted so far but no luck.
I have a nexus 5x on with an identical sim on the same network/towers that shows me lte over the bars.
This phone only shows me 4G ..... is the phone capable of displaying lte ?
When selecting preferred network type lte only. It will drop the call.
LTE is 4G. Each phone uses different symbols, but it's the same. The fact that it drops the call probably means that volte is not enabled... weird. Have you contacted your carrier about it?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/guide-volte-t-mobile-yes-actually-t3869677
I just figured it out. Just follow the guide.
Thanks for the post Daha3ker ..... I will see if anyone else tries it before giving it a go.
I am quite sure at this point its a network issue as it is also happening on my Nexus 5x (LTE then H during call)
Confirmed it is a network issue. They are sending me ATT sims to try.
The tech support wasn't the brightest bulb, she kept trying to convince me I need to be on wifi to place an LTE call.
After some passive aggressive attempts to convince me she finally told me T-mobile does not support volte with them.
VoLTE depends of the carrier, it has to be enabled on his network equipments.
Some carriers enable it per phone line (they have to enable it for your line)
Moreover, some carriers restrict VoLTE for specific devices. Here in France, Orange enable VoLTE only for Apple and Samsung devices...

What if you just use a Samsung or Apple device to enable it?
Here in Greece, Cosmote also enables VoLTE only for specific devices, Samsung, Apple and Huawei. The Mi A2 isn't one of them. But I managed to... side-enable it. I just inserted my sim card in a Huawei device and sent the text to enable it. They enabled it in my sim, and of course it still works after I moved the sim back to the A2

Orange say that it is available and automatically enabled on Apple devices, and on Samsung devices which were purchased in Orange stores. So I think there is something special in phone rom.
Problem resolved. Was a carrier issue.
Required an ATT sim and add a new Access Point
* Note if using Consumer Cellular you will need the ATT sim for Volte.
Tmobile does not support Volte on CC as relayed by tech.

I am using Verizon N6 on Tmobile and was wondering if I can flash the TMo ( LYZ28E ) on my phone to get wifi calling on Tmo.
Can somebody please confirm?
Update: I was able to flash LYZ288 TMo build on my Verizon N6 using nexus tool kit without any errors.
I can see Wifi calling option in the settings options now and I need to figure out how to test wifi calling actually works on the phone. Any suggestions?
the WiFi calling will only work if your provider provides support for WiFi calling, and Verizon does not. only tmobile will provide support for WiFi calling, and the fi network.
Provider of the phone or provider of the Sim? I'm using T-Mobile sim

Funny T-Mobile tech support won't even answer any of my questions because I brought the Nexus 6 over from Verizon. I can't get Wifi Calling working even though I am on the latest TMobile OTA. They claim they cannot provide support to devices not bought from T-Mobile. I'm currently stuck digging through XDA for a solution to my problem.
When I set radio modem in LTE/GSM(auto) mode all is ok - phone registered and works in LTE network, but when I set to "LTE only" mode, phone goes to enternal network search and found nothing (no network registered).
I think it's because in "LTE only" mode phones set to only Verizon LTE band 13, not global LTE.
How I can make phone works in mode "LTE only"?
If I need to change this "prefered" Verizon LTE band, how can I do this?
I use Verizon XT1254 bootloader unlocked + SU4TL-49 (5.1) stock in LTE band 3 (1800).

Not wise to go LTE only.
If you go LTE only, what happens when there's no LTE?
Like when there's only 3G coverage?
Or want to make a phone call? (Phone needs to drop down to 3G coverage, since you are not using Verizon and would not have access to Verizon's VoLTE. I'm in the U.S. on AT&T and drop down to HSPA temporarily for phone calls on my Quark, since I don't have access to AT&T's VoLTE.)
I would never go to LTE only as that would ensure my phone could not make phone calls (on the carrier I use) or even have data at all times (in poor LTE coverage areas).

I don't see that you have a problem. You said it works fine in LTE/GSM auto mode and you get LTE fine in that mode.

For some reason you want to cripple your phone in "LTE only" mode so you can't make/receive any phone calls (mobile voice calls don't work on regular LTE, only on 3G bands) -- and you wouldn't have the option of dropping down to 3G even for data in poor LTE areas.
So, what problem do you have except for the one you're trying to create?

I want to use "LTE only" mode when I share internet connection to my laptop, because my network carrier provide unlimited free LTE traffic, but limited 3G traffic.
I also use Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) in "LTE only" mode and it works OK, so why XT1254 can't work the same way.
In "LTE/GSM(auto)" mode XT1254 sometimes break LTE connection (about 2 hours continuous data stream) and switch to 3G, so I want to use LTE on force mode, as I use Huawei F3372h now.

Your Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) works in "LTE only" mode for extended periods of time in the exact same locations as your phone? Is it the same carrier or a different carrier?
Because in LTE/GSM (auto) mode on your phone, you should get LTE if LTE is available. You will get lower (3G/2G) either when LTE is not available or IF your carrier is kicking you off for some reason (congestion or maybe some kind of time/data limit). In those instances that you are NOT getting LTE now on your phone, I don't think you would get LTE by being in an LTE-only mode. I think instead you would get just no data, since the phone would not be able to downgrade to 3G/2G.
I may be wrong, but that's my theory. However, if your Huawei E3372h (USB-modem) works in "LTE only" mode for extended periods of time in the exact same locations with the same carrier , then I don't know.
There is one thing you can try...
I'm that same menu, press the three dots on the top right>select umts bands>usa only.
For me personally, this limited me to lte, and i had to reflash everything to fix it. I think 950mhz (to name one) was still working so this may not even make a difference to you

Interesting. So every update since that July 2015 XT1254 firmware upgrade breaks that mode on the XT1254? That firmware folder is not complete, by the way. Doesn't even have SUTL-49. But I assume you are probably on SUTL-49 already?
The dates in that folder are only upload dates, not release dates. The upload dates are up to a year off from actual release dates. And they also have XT1225 firmware in the "XT1254" folder, for some strange reason.
And I know it's from July 2015 because of this post:

There are two ways......
1... If your boot loader is locked you have to wait you might get official Verizon/Motorola version probably later this or at the next month...
2....If you are unlocked (boot loader )you can unlock the Boot loader and flash the 6.1 version.

Be better to unlock the bootloader and wait for people to upload copies to manually flash with unlocked bootloader.
If your bootloader is locked you will get the OTA, but your bootloader may remain locked down forever after that. Sunshine can't promise an exploit.
With unlocked bootloader you can have the official Verizon Marshmallow firmware AND do other stuff -- like root, install xposed, etc.
Hi. So I was having trouble with calls, signal drops, very annoying whooshing noises and so on. When I contacted the carrier they said let's turn VOLTE THEN WIFI CALLING. my wife and I have the p20 pro CLT-LO4 and neither of our phones have an option for volte or wifi calling. Contacted carrier(Koodo) I'm in canada. They said well it's suppose to be there reset you phone and check again. No dice then press *#*#4935#*#* and it does nothing. They say it's enabled on there end and don't have a solution... I called Huawei and they took my serial number and model and told me that it's the carrier 100%....
try this.
Open phone settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network > both VoLTE calls and Wi-Fi calling settings should be there.
if you can't find, it is because the carrier disabled it in the rom. Try to unlock bootloader, root and flash an international rom to get it back.
When I talked to the carrier they assured that it was unlocked.
If you have a link on how to preform the tasks you said ide definately give it a try
Thank you
One question tho is it possible to brick the phone? Reason I'm asking is my wife's phone is 8 months old but I just switched from my s9 to this one 2 days ago so i can tech bring it back and get a refund but the problem is there isn't any other phones offered besides the p30 pro that compare and I would have to pay $690 down plus 20 a month for 24 months where as p20pro was $0 down and 15 a month.
If the carrier supports it, then you should have the option in settings. In my case, when I bought the phone only one of the two carriers that I have in each sim card was supporting WiFi calling. Now that both support it, I have it in the settings. The problem that I have found with WiFi calling though is that if you start a phone call through WiFi and you move to a place with bad reception, then the call is dropping. Also, if you are on a WiFi call and you go to a place where the wifi has no reception whatsoever, then again the call drops, instead of switching to normal call. In other words, whatever the way you make the call, you have to finish it. There is no switching during the call; this became really frustrating, so I now switched it to mobile network preferred

Alot of misinformation about this on the net.
Regardless of what your carrier says this is in fact a carrier issue.
If you simply swap sim cards to another carrier that DOES support these features on all phones with no restrictions then it will show up in the settings.

hi i tried searching in google for the volte enable in my mobile device Huawei P20 Pro , my other sim says it is volte ready however the other sim volte radio button cant be seen i tried switching sims but everytime i switch sim the volte button will transfer leaving me a sim card tray with no volte does this mean that it is the carrier needs to enable volte? others say that i need to wait for update on my mobile device
My device has a model CLT-L29 Global version for Huawei P20 Pro EMUI version is 10.0.0 Android 10 and it says for this version there is no update for EMUI 11 so does this mean i can not use volte anymore or do i need to contact carrier for the volte to be enabled?

The problem that I have found with WiFi calling though is that if you start a phone call through WiFi and you move to a place with bad reception, then the call is dropping. Also, if you are on a WiFi call and you go to a place where the wifi has no reception whatsoever, then again the call drops, instead of switching to normal call. In other words, whatever the way you make the call, you have to finish it. There is no switching during the call; this became really frustrating, so I now switched it to mobile network preferred

Jio and Airtel seems to be enabling Wi-Fi calling in India. On the list of supported handsets Android One handsets like Mi A1, A2 and A3 are missing.
Is this hardware issue (Xiaomi is just not having the right hardware)? Or a software issue (wi-fi calling not supported by Android One software)? Or it's just that Jio and Airtel has not started support for these devices.
WiFi calling is supported on the Mi A2. But even if those carriers don't support it on the Mi A2 (some carriers support features on a limited range of devices) you can probably still use it.
First you need to find which devices are supported. Then find a friend who has one of those devices, take out your sim, put it in his/her phone, and enable the service (usually through text?).
When you put the sim back to your Mi A2 the service will still be enabled. Dial *#*#869434#*#* on your dialer to disable wifi calling check, then open Phone, go to settings, Calling accounts, select your operator, and you should get a Wi-Fi Calling Option.

Thanks for the detail explanation.... Did you try and this worked? I checked with Jio and there is no activation needed (like Text message that you mentioned)
Also how to disable the WiFi calling check in *#*#869434#*#* this Code doesn't work for me.. Did you mean *#*#4636#*#*
Can you share more details as would love to have this working

Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I'm not in India, I just followed the same instructions and it worked for me.
The only way to disable vowifi/wifi calling check is by dialing *#*#869434#*#*. You don't get another screen after doing this, just a quick notification in the bottom of the screen indicating that wifi calling check is disabled. You can miss it if you don't know where to look. Dialing the number again will enable the check. Dialing a third time will disable it again, and so on.
*#*#4636#*#* just gets you into the advanced phone options menu. Do this, dial *#*#4636#*#* and when the menu appears go to the top option, should be phone options. Then scroll down and look at the checkbox next to "wifi calling". It should be like my screen here:

Text is in Greek, sorry about that, but the option is the fourth from the top. It should be greyed out, but enabled (slider to the right).
If it's not like that, dial *#*#869434#*#* one more time and check again.
Update: I was able to enable VoWiFi using the *#*#869434#*#* code after the Android 10 update for Jio.
But when on VoWiFi call, my voice does not seem to reach the other end, so I have disabled it now.
Wish there was a way to fix it.

Well that sounds good, maybe something to do with enabling from Operators end.
Would recommend that you check after some days or a month or so to see if it is working better
BTW how did you enable WiFi calling, using the process suggested in the thread or it directly appeared after Android 10 update?

Using the process mentioned.
BTW I also think since my voice was not going, it might be because of the asymmetric Upload and Download speeds of most service providers.
Not sure if there is a minimum speed requirements over WiFi.

Facing the same issue. I don't think it has anything to do with asymmetric internet bandwidth. The issue is on the Jio side, which they need to fix. As I understand, Mi A2 WiFi calling works fine on Airtel network.

Yes, I heard the same thing and switched networks from Jio to Airtel. If a provider does not want to support my phone, I cannot support the provider. WiFi calling does work on Airtel, most of the times, sometimes it gets stuck (voice not clear even with perfect WiFi network), I simply reboot the phone and it works again.
Is there any way to enable VoLTE or wifi calling for US carriers. Maybe by rooting or adb commands? I'm using the x70 pro plus on tmobile and it's only showing H when making phone calls and I don't see any option to enable VoLTE or wifi calling.

That's the same version I have too, dual SIM - In Australia (perhaps it only shows what the SIM is capable of)?

If I reset my network settings the HD icon is shown in the status bar showing that VoLTE is enable but there is no toggle for the VoLTE in my settings.
Restarting my phone gets rid of the HD icon meaning the VoLTE is no longer enabled

Yes, and if you toggle VoLTE setting, you get the icon back. But this is not a useful discovery. The fact is that with or without the icon, I never really have VoLTE. But the answer may be in provider, my phone is not listed as enabled. With iPhone, which is listed, and the same provider VoLTE is active. I'll be travelling this month, have two different sims and see what happened.

There is no VoLTE toggle in my settings. The HD icon just indicates if my phone is connected to the VoLTE service.
Reseting my network settings enables the VoLTE on my phone but it is disabled when I restart my phone and only shows H when I make calls until I reset my network settings.

But your provider supports VoLTE and you do have a Chinese x70 pro+? What about VoWIFI, I can see that you have it enabled, does it work?
Try to update phone app if it is possible or clear cash and data of it. I have this menu but so far VoLTE doesn't really work.
And one more question. Why would you need VoLTE if you have VoWIFI enabled?

My carrier tmobile support VoLTE. I attached a screenshot of what my sim settings look like. I don't have a toggle for VoLTE or VoWIFI but VoLTE is enabled if I reset my network settings until I restart my phone.
I need VoLTE to work because in a few months the 2g and 3g bands for my carrier are getting shut shutdown and I will need VoLTE to make or receive calls.

Ok, sorry about VoWIFI, it was another guy who published this option. Have you tried to reset phone app data and cache? Have you checked APN? have you ever tried to enable 5g and roaming? Tried to contact the t mobile service about VoLTE?
There is one more options to enable and change some phone options but it's very delicate, hence be really careful with it. It's a service number *#*#4636#*#*
At least shows you what options are really enabled on your phone.
I just got a sim card from a friend who has VoLTE from long ago. I tried it and can confirm that I didn't even get an option to enable VoLTE. Therefore, the option from my sim is fake, and it's obvious that VoLTE doesn't work on this phone right now.
I hope that Vivo would address and fix the issue soon.
VoLTE is finally working on the new update but still missing the toggles
The VoLTE issue lies with Vivo, not with your carrier. When you put a carrier SIM into your phone it contains unique information that tells the phone who your carrier is and the phone then configures the APN settings automatically. You cannot edit them. In Origin OS Ocean you can open System/etc/apn-config.xml and you will see a list of every carrier in the world and read what default APN settings the operating system automatically configures the APN for that carrier to be.
I have the Vivo X Note with the same Origin OS Ocean firmware as the X70pro. My Canadian carrier supports VoLTE and WiFi calling and their tech support manually added the IMEI of my phone to the equipment list for my line and assured me that VoLTE and WiFi calling are provisioned for the line, but neither of those toggles appear in my Mobile Networks/Sim settings, because the APN that Vivo applies for my carrier doesn't support VoLTE. If I put the same SIM into my Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5g or my Huawei Mate 20 X and look at the APN settings, they permit VoLTE and the toggle and feature works on those phones - so it is not the carrier, or the SIM - it is Vivo and their default APN settings for your carrier.
I have a strong 5g signal here, and I can download and stream or do VoIP calls at 5g, but when I place a voice call it drops to 3g or H. That isn't an issue here in Canada, because we have kept our 3g voice network up and running. When I travel to the US, however, I can't place calls because without VoLTE enabled voice calls drop to 3g - which no longer exists in the United States. Someone needs to convince Vivo to change the apn-config.xml file to reflect APNs for North American carriers to ensure VoLTE is possible. I would just edit the .xml file myself, but you can't save changes to an .xml file without root, and we can't root because Vivo won't unlock the bootloader for Origin OS Ocean devices.
This is what my APN needs to look like to enable VoLTE:
<apn carrier="Rogers Internet"
mcc="302"
mnc="720"
apn="ltemobile.apn"
mmsproxy="mmsproxy.rogers.com"
mmsport="80"
mmsc="http://mms.gprs.rogers.com"
type="default,supl,mms"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IP"
/>
<apn carrier="Rogers Tethering"
mcc="302"
mnc="720"
apn="ltedata.apn"
type="dun"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IP"
But unfortunately, this is what Vivo has for the default APN for my carrier in their System/Etc/apn-config.xml:
<apn carrier="Rogers Internet"
mcc="302"
mnc="720"
apn="ltemobile.apn"
type="default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri"
mmsproxy="mmsproxy.rogers.com"
mmsc="http://mms.gprs.rogers.com"
mmsport="80"
mvno_match_data="ROGERS"
mvno_type="spn"
protocol="IPV4V6"
roaming_protocol="IP"
/>
<apn carrier="Rogers Tethering"
mcc="302"
mnc="720"
apn="ltedata.apn"
type="dun"
mvno_match_data="ROGERS"
mvno_type="spn"

Hi sorry my question is off topic, but I want to get the Vivo X Note. Is possible to change de default launcher in the phone with Origin OS? Thanks
With the Origin OS Ocean firmware you can change the default launcher, but only after registering a Vivo Account (you can do this by e-mail - you don't need a Mainland China phone number). Sign into your Vivo Account (at the top of your devices "settings") and then go to Settings/Security/More Security Settings/ Replace the System Launcher. I'm using Nova as default launcher on my Vivo X Note.
