Note 5 - Random Restart following update to BF1 - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Since I received the update, the note 5 continues to restart randomly; some cases I've recorded, and it's so random, it's not something I can replicate constantly:
1) random restart after it just restarts
2) random restarts after I enter the app drawer
3) random restarts when opening camera
4) restarts while texting
all this happens even after i've attempted to reset the phone to factory, i've also cleared the cache and it still becomes problematic.
I've attempted to use Odin 3.12.3 and tried to load the new tar i've downloaded, it continues to fail. the Tar file i've downloaded was on Sammobile.
at this moment, i'm lost as to what I can do to try to fix this problem, would you be able to help?

Note 5 stuck in loop while updating firmware at %24

Hi All,
Sorry if this is asked before. I have a new Note 5 unlocked. I turned it on yesterday and started using it. Late at night, its screen froze. I tried pressing Power+Volume_Down buttons to restart the phone. The phone restarted but the the screen was black. Only the notification light was on (blue).
In the morning, the light was still on and the phone was froze. I tried restarting it and I succeeded it. Then I realized the phone was very, I mean veeeery slow. By the time, a firmware update notification popped up. I believe it was Marsmallow update. I hit the yes button. The phone started the update and was stuck at %24. Then it restarted itself. The update process starts over and when it reaches %24, it starts over.
This happened before with my note 4 when I tried to root it. This phone is brand new and is not rooted. However, I transferred my Google profile but I did not select to download my previous apps. So, I don't think it is rooting issue but stucking at the same percentage makes me nervous.
I tried to get into recovery mode but the button combination does not work at all. So I can neither factory reset nor clear the cahe partition. When I press Volume_Down+Home+Power buttons, a custom rom download screen appears but Volume_Up+Home+Power buttons do not work at all. I cannot shut off the phone. It constantly restarts itself, starts the update, fails at %24 and starts the process over again.
What might be the problem? How can I fix this?
Regards
Hi,
Try flashing some stockfirmware via Odin (ideally something of the same android version i.e. lollipop/marshmallow). Once it's installed you should be able to access recovery from which I strongly recommend clearing your cache afterwards as you've already suggested. If you are not worried about loosing any data, then flash new firmware that is inclusive of BL/CP/CSC files too (each one has a category for such in Odin). With the latter, by all means flash marshmallow etc. :good:

New, straight out the box- mmc crashes, doesn't boot but computer alerts connection?

Hi, brand new Note 4.
First time turning on, would not boot
Random crashing and rebooting after setting it up
Then it crashed and booted to download mode a couple times
Then I got an mmc failure
Now it doesn't boot at all, but my computer plays a sound whenever I connect it, with or without a battery. ODIN doesn't recognize it
I waited a week for this to arrive and I'm so frickin frustrated
I was about to root and flash a new kernel to see if it solves the issues. But it crashed just before I could hit start on ODIN
I read it was something about a failing emmc which causes random crashes
I can't flash anything because ODIN can't see it
I don't think I can return it because it still has all my data on it
I can't factory reset
Help a poor fool out please I really just feel like crying
Must be used?

Phone freezes, ODIN does not fix it at all.

Hey guys. I have a bit of a problem here. My friends t mobile note 4 keeps freezing. I've tried everything i could and nothing will fix it. Is this symptom of the emmc chip starting to fail?
Heres what i tried:
- Used 3 different batteries, 2 cables.
- Booted in recovery mode to factory reset and clear cache.
- Odin stock latest firmware and downgrading. When i did this phone would go into a recovery loop giving me the message "installing system update.." then would either freeze with line artifacts or say "no command".
- Re-partitioned using pit file in odin + nand erase all.
- Rooted and flashed twrp recovery. This allowed me to boot up the phone normally. 9/10 times the phone would fail to boot up 100% as it would freeze.
- Tried flashing a custom rom, but would freeze in the process and restart.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.
EDIT: I found that if i put the phone inside a freezer for 5 minutes, it temporarily fixes the problem. as soon as the phone warms up, it will freeze and restart.
Any resolution on your dilemma? My att note 4 is also doing this. I might try and pull the phone apart and try some kind of thermal paste.

Note 5 freezes, reboots without any apparent reason

Since a few days now, my Note 5 N920C just randomly freezes, hangs and reboots. Sometimes the screen goes black and then it reboots sometimes the screen is just the last thing i was using and then it reboots. It even happens when im in recovery trying to flash a zip or when the phone is switched off and charging.
I have tried:
1) Wiping Cache
2) Wiping all data / Factory reset
3) Safe mode (Still reboots)
4) Uninstalling all apps
5) Flashing stock firmware from Samsung Smart Switch
6) Rooting and flashing a new kernel (SkyHigh)
After all of this i still have the same problem. Is there something else i can do? Phone is not in warranty so i really want to make sure there is nothing else i can do to fix or understand the problem before spending money on repairs.
Thanks in advance
Have you checked that there is no power-related issues with the device?

S20 FE Bootlooping, can't get it out

Hi,
I purchased an S20 FE G781V (knowing it was bootlooping, thinking I'd fix it). In its current state, it shows the SAMSUNG logo, goes black, then reboots.
I can access:
- Download Mode
- Recovery (small text one)
- Fastboot (big text one)
- Flashing with Odin
I've tried:
- Flashing with Odin
- Flashing with Odin using the HOME CSC
- Wiping cache
- "Factory Reset" in recovery
All of these are "successful" and don't produce errors, however phone is in same state. I haven't tried any other of the firmware CSC versions (only VZW)
The firmware version I flashed was VZW / G781VSQS6FVD2.
How I got here:
- Received phone, originally automatically booted into the recovery (seemed like no OS was booting)
- Flashed firmware with Odin
- Phone worked for ~45 minutes
- First bootloop crash came when I hit the QR reader tile in the dropdown pane
- Phone recovered by itself after a few bootloops, went right back into the OS w/o problem
- Continued using phone, after another 30 minutes I tried to open the (normal) camera again, phone crashed there
- This time no recovery, this is where I'm at
The only reason I mentioned the crashes was because they were both camera related. Could this be a hardware issue rel. to camera causing this? No idea, just thought to mention.
I am able to get into ADB sideload mode via recovery, but phone is not bootloader unlocked. Could this be useful?
Any other ideas on how to get this phone booted?
