I have recently installed an AVIC 8200NEX in my 2005 Grand Cherokee. Any time my phone is connected to USB and Android Auto is running, the screen wakes every 3 seconds or less. No issues when connect and just charging. I have a bone stock Note7. Anyone know how to get around this?
Give the note 7 back before it burns your Jeep to the ground. Get a pixel. I have an 07 grand Cherokee with a pioneer Android auto head unit and it works perfectly.

Now that I think about it I had issues with Android auto when I first got my note 7. It ended up being a bad USB-C cable. I plugged in the one that came with the phone and it worked fine

I have a moto x pure connected with chevy volt using android auto. It used to work perfect with the stock rom.
Recently I have installed the orionos custom rom, and the screen resolution in the car is totally wrong. I can only see the very top left portion of the screen, I think it is a screen resolution issue, but do not know how to solve it.
Any help is appreciated.
same issue
I have a brand new Skoda connected to an LG Optimus G updated to Android 6.0.1 and exactly the same issue. The screen is completeley screwed up and showing only the top left quarter of the screen way too large (huge fonts, etc.) Is there a way to fix this? Would even be good to know if this is a bug in the phone, in the car system or in the Android Auto app.
Anyone else facing this?
Is it possible you may have downloaded a 1024x600 rom instead of a 800x480?
I have a HTC 10, completely stock rom and a Pioneer head unit. Maps always worked perfectly in over a year with this phone and previous phone.
About a week ago I started to have this same issue. Maps is totally useless since.
I will try and get a photo tomorrow and reply again with it.
Just to let you know not only one.
I could fix my display issue by upgrading my phone to an Android 7 custom ROM.

Same thing here, HTC10, but with stock+magisk/xposed, same issue in Maps - until I saw this I thought that is because of one of xposed module. I cleanup the storage data several times, reinstalled aa also, disabled magisk/xposed, played with app settings xposed module in order to try to change the screen dp. Could not find the issue.
Interesting part is that on the same car but with different phone (moto x 2nd, xposed, same aa version, same google maps version) the Maps is displayed properly.
I have the same problem after updating my rom to a 1024x600. My unit was 800x480 and thats why the screen is cut off. What can i do?
In my case issue was related to Boost+ app "optimization", see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/android-auto-google-maps-issue-t3533388
So I purchased the note 8 vr a couple days ago. It updated the software but won't boot up. I get a black screen with an x in the corner. I have the American unlocked version with AT&T firmware. Anyone know any fixes or about this issue?
Bump

Try asking here:

Are you actually wearing the headset when you see this because that's what it will show when the sensor does not sense you are wearing the headset. The sensor should be located around your middle forehead area. Try covering it with your finger to see if an image comes up.

Yeah when I put it on it will flash white then return to black screen repeatedly. I'll try that but it does make a sound to acknowledge it was put in the vr. I'll try posting on the link you provided as well. I didn't think the firmware I have was an issue since all versions should work with the vr. I'm really confused since everything else works (dex and other usb connections) and the headset works with my gs7 edge

I only have one more suggestion. Did you try clearing data on your Gear Vr and Oculus apps? Otherwise, yeah maybe one of the pros on Gear board can offer better informed help.

Yeah I've tried uninstalling all the vr software and reinstalling a couple times. I reset the phone. I'm just not understanding what the issue could be at this point, only thing I've changed is from unlock firmware to at&t firmware. Both should have support for gear vr though...
Did it work on your note 8 or not cause I am also have same issue
I can confirm gear VR working fine on oreo and was working on nougat too
I'm having the same issue. Worked on Thursday and today (Tuesday) nothing but the blank screen. Is there a light onthe headset sensor? I cannot remember. Mine is not lit if it is supposed to be. I'm thinking a faulty sensor

As Alphapappa77 stated, it used to work, then stopped. We all have the right Gear and connector.
I found if you plug in the charger while you re wearing it, it works.
I too having problem getting the Note8 to work in the Gear VR. I purchased the model SM-R325 which came with the USB-C adapter and it's printed on the box it is compatible with a Note8. Software update on my Note8 said I'm already have the latest OS. Turned off screen lock, paired with the controller and it asked me to install about 10 Gear and Oculus apps, which I did. Browsed to some free contents and the screen ask me to plug it into the headset. Plug it in, snap it in place and put the headset on my face and the screen still look the same (i.e. asking me to plug it into the headset). Tried some of the troubleshooting techniques out there (un-installed and re-installed apps, making sure it sit securely in the USB and headset, etc.) but made no difference. Even took the Gear VR back to the store and exchanged for another brand new one. Plugged a charger into the headset and it does charge the Note8, thou not at a quick charge (on both headsets). Contacted Samsung Gear VR support department and the only thing they will tell me is the phone number for Oculus.
Anyone get it working on this particular VR platform?
Have you enabled all the Facebook Apps as you need them in order to get the GearVR working.
I have the same problem with Note 8, nothing appears when I install the phone in the VR until I had to change the charging plate, but without any benefit, it seems to be a general problem in Note 8 Have you reached a solution

Good evening.
I have noticed a bug with the ambient display. I have it to be permanently active but either when a notification comes or if something covers the light sensor it stops working and if you do not press something on the mobile the screen is dark. Does it do this to you? Thanks.
When you cover the light sensor it thinks that the phone is in your pocket and that's the reason it turns the always on display off.

I know...but when tou take away your hands does not come back thats the point...
I think the same happens after a notification
I have noticed the exact same issue. Rebooting the device seems to fix the issue temporarily and after an hour or so it comes back. That is really annoying.

But once out of pocket or hand is removed from the proximity sensor, the AOD should light up again. My unit is actually doing it right for sometime when rebooting, than stops and I get back screen too until I double tap or push power button.

Good to know, will try reset the phone.
Did you factory reset using the Android itself or using tool?
FYI, I just got this phone recently and use flashtool to update and wipe everything before using it.
Sounds like this is commom issue for Android 10 (some Pixel device had this issue).

I used the Xperia Companion software on laptop with USB cable to phone
No work...but with other Android Stock Rom, right.
My phone:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T
cRdroid 7.4
Android 11
Magisk
My car:
Toyota Touch 2 & Go. Android Auto.
Plug it USB and popup in car: "Please, unplugged USB cable and try again."
Any idea?
Any idea?
Here's an idea, how about giving a little more detail about the car, the radio, and what it is that you're trying to do? It's unclear what you're plugging into the USB and what it is that you expect when you plug into the USB. You give a lot of phone detail but very little about the head unit in the car.
What is "Toyota Touch 2 and Go" and what does it have to do with Android Auto?
Aside from your "any idea?" which won't improve your chances much of getting help, what is your question?
Teh crickets
Hello, i am waiting a long time now for the MA1, but it still is not normally available.
But i would like to know if there are any users of the MA1 and what there experiences are.
I have read a lot of the reviews, but almost all of them are form magazines/sites/etc who only use it once for the test.
Would love to hear form 'real' users what they think of it.
On XDA i cannot find any thread about the MA1.
Hello, I had a hell on my Tucson 2017 and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, no cable worked for the S22u, (in fact any Galaxy phone on Android 12 is not detected by my car). The only phone that seems to work is an old Mi 9t pro but with USB debugging on. I had to take a chance on getting my car working with the S22u, so I bought a MA1 (overpriced), and it worked on first try, my car cuts the usb power 2 minutes after it is turned off, so no problem there, the MA1 and my phone gets hot a little bit. Still having a problem with the microphone on ok google (calls works ok) since the microphone seems to be mute. It detects "Ok google" ok but after that, it seems to be disabled, unless after a call, seems that the mic is ok. The cord on the MA1 could be a little bit longer.
Ive been using it for months. Works flawlessly.
Works for me for several days now. Just plug and play. Bought from some unknown seller on Amazon for ~$120.-
