Need a genuine Note 5 S-Pen Replacement - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I stupidly stabbed an apple with my S-Pen. It no longer works. I looked online and found some $10/$15 ones. I don't trust these as I have bought them before and the Sasmung logo shiny part just breaks and the tip is not sensitive, yada-yada-yada(cheap-made). Long story short, I NEED AN S-PEN REPLACEMENT. ):

I bought a spare on the Bay (new in factory packaging w/spare tips) for about $20/free shipping (this is in the US, I did not look at any international sellers)

Cracked Screen

Im living in the Uk and managed to crack the screen on my kaiser. My insurance company will fix it/replace the phone but theres is a 50quid excess.
Iv searched the internet high & low for new LCD screens but aside from ebay iv struggled to find any. As for the ones on ebay they are all from hong kong & google has brought up a few horror stories from people who have used them.
Does anyone know where i could source a new lcd from, or any advice in general?
cheers guys
I cracked the screen on my kaiser a couple months back. I purchased an LCD off ebay (i may be able to find the seller and see if he has more). I received it within a week and fixed it myself. easy stuff. I wouldn't be too afraid.
so your insurance will charge you 50quid to replace it completely or 50quid on top of the price of the lcd?
cnn.cn has lcd's for $75.99 + shipping. I've had mixed results with them. Ordered about 3 things from them, all seperate orders, arrived on time and no complaints. But then ordered a 4th item (lcd for nokia n82) and the package arrived empty. I honestly think it got lost in customs cuz they tore the package open, but cnn.cn didnt reply to any of my emails so i just withdrew the payment with my bank.
£50 in total, inc shipping and parts. the £50 is just my insurance excess.
The phone is in very poor shape so imo id quite happily pay the £50 if they will send me a refurb phone!
poor shape how?
i sent my phone Tytn in or repa[ir on insurance with a cracked screen, they serviced it, cleaned it etc.
if you have insurance then use it! you won't be able to get a screen for less and then you'll have the hassle of fitting it.
whats the point in having insurance?
if your phone is in poor shape cosmetically and you are disappointed with that then look after your phone!!!
else report all faults in a one-er and get them fixed for one excess payment.

[Q] Anyone found replacement back covers?

It looks like most of the posts in this forum are for covers - should've looked here earlier.
I tend to abuse my phones pretty badly - I usually buy a case, but since the options were slim for the Focus when I bought it, I haven't had one. The other day I put the phone in my pocket with keys and the back cover took a beating.
Anyone found a place to buy a replacement back cover? I figured they would be available by now, but I haven't seen any other than one on eBay that's up to $37 at this point.
I tried calling Samsung's mobile accessories / replacement parts line, but no one seems to pick up.
I have one from a focus I sold for parts. I dont know how you would want to do a transaction but id sell it for 20 dollars.

How much for the earphones?
Me too
I sent Samsung Support an email requesting information about ordering one and got no reply. Sent it weeks ago.
back cover
I definitely need to locate a back cover also.
Hi guys. I too broke my back cover.
I called Samsung, and leveraged my way all the Corporate Help Center through yelling at 3 supervisors.
Samsung unfortunately are not producing back cover replacements at this time. :/
However, I went to the AT&T store and spoke to the manager. He gave me a back cover from Focus that was returned to them and said they do that all time, try that. :]
I saw some back covers on sale on ebay for around $20
EBAY
Search on EBAY for "Samsung I917 Battery Cover" and you will find a vendor with used, refurbished and new covers ranging from $19.99 - $29.99.

Cracked my HTC M8 screen glass

Hello guys,
Yesterday, I dropped my phone by mistake and cracked the screen, so I went online to look for replacement (I can change it by myself) and ended up not knowing what I exactly need.
My question is do I need this https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-Shipping-for-HTC-One-M8-LCD-Screen-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly/800156_2046697346.html?src=google&albch=search&acnt=479-062-3723&isdl=y&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&albcp=304964476&albag=11402194156&slnk=&trgt=dsa-62796764476&plac=&crea=64152582916&netw=g&device=c&mtctp=b&memo1=1t1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwsO6-BRDRy8bsxfiV2bkBEiQAF8EzKAy1YydCzYq8AeRHSHbDCTHSTlwdXW_P3EdSkpvs4GMaAqWj8P8HAQ to replace my screen?
It would be easier to just purchase the lcd and digitizer with front housing. The 3 pieces would be already assembled. IMHO it is just easier to spend the few extra dollars to avoid a possible hassle. And, for the record this is the route i went when i replaced mine. I only buy from sellers located in the U.S. to avoid warranty/replacement issues of parts (if you live in the U.S.).
Here is a quick Ebay search of what I'm talking about. HTC M8 LCD+Digitizer+Frame

Hey,
Thank you for the reply and no I am not from US.
So, this one should work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-HTC-ONE-M8-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Frame-Replacement-Assembly-/282122816484?hash=item41afd48be4:g:5pgAAOSwaB5XowrM
I'm not a fan of parts from China and Honk Kong. But yes, that will work. Just remember, be free of static, disconnect the battery as soon as you get the rear cover off, and wear anti-static gloves designed for electrical devices and components. Good luck!

Note 8 from Ebay (Check this list)

Most of the ebay "open-box new" phones are not new. An average person wont notice no different most of the time. I purchased a "new" note 8 from a ebay seller who has sold 100s of phones and has 99.xx feedback reputation. Finally returned the phone. I made a list here from what I noticed to help other users to check what they bought from ebay.
1. Usually they are sold as open box.
2. The phone looks absolutely new. Not even a tiny scratch.
3. Installed the Samsung info app and it shows as new phone (under refurbished check)
4. These phones mostly come with a non-authentic s-pen. They work. But not as smooth as the original. Need more pressure to register the touch. Also the pressure sensitivity is not that good. The color (the top side) slightly may not match with the housing of the phone.
5. Samsung info app showed the color of the phone as Grey. Well the housing of the phone is midnight black. LOL they really screwed here.
6. The texture of the box is more rough than the original one. Looks a bit cheap quality. But not much.
7. The s-pen picture on the side of the box is slightly different than what's on the original box.
8. The paper used to make the inside parts of the box is slightly thinner.
9. Original box come with a sticker on a side with IEMI/Serial and etc.. The ebay one didnt have that.
10. The screen protector film comes with the ebay one looks cheap and very different from original.
11. The original one came with a plastic film on the back side. Ebay one didnt.
12. The plastic wraps came with the accessories did not look authentic if you look very closely.
What I think is that these phones are refurbished. They ship them as new in a third-party box which looks exactly same as the original.

I would stay away from ebay for Phones. Accessories will continue to buy myself. A lot of fakes and refurbished being passed off as just used phones. I will buy a lot of stuff that's cheap on ebay. Expensive stuff going Amazon here.
I just purchased a Note 8 from ebay. Where can I download the Samsung info app?
From playstore there is one called, phone info samsung,

Question My phone arrived with sticking silicone edges

Hey all,
I finally got one, at a pretty good deal from Alibaba (8GB/256GB for $800 + $45 DHL shipping). I unboxed it and noticed two sticking edges, like very thin black silicone edges. Anything to worry about? it's unexpected obviously and I assume it wasn't finalized properly at the factory. No visible side effects although I suspect its effect on the phone IP rating.

You can probably return it but might take a month to get replacement
If it's barely visible I wouldn't bother
I pulled one of the edges out and it just went and snipped the other one with a delicate cutter tool, as I figured it's better than pulling it. Couldn't leave it hanging like that. I doubt it did anything, but I dunno, it's kinda weird receiving an $800 phone like that.
Well firstly I would like to as you if it is a global or a Chinese version, 800$ seems quite cheap and you might have received a refurbished phone rather than a new phone at that price point, I don't know the market value for this phone now but still should be higher than that even though Xiaomi 12 has been announced but not yet released
You can get it for $800 from Alibaba and the specific seller I got it from has quite a lot of happy reviews and no mentioning of a refurbished one, so I think it's safe to say it isn't. It's the Chinese variant of the phone, as it didn't make sense to get the global one.
I never heard of silicone sealant being used on smartphones. Acetic acid is corrosive unless they used the 2 part potting silicone mix designed for electronics. So there's that...
Always cut (razor blade), never pull.
Could be a refurb with sloppy replacement panel
Go to the site and check the IMEI numbers to see if it's been used in china before, it will tell you the exact date
Which site? I was only able to find this and it won't say dates: https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei.
