The other pictures.
Sorry, but do you have URL on where I may order these shells? I only really need the back part where the camera is. My used X1 came with a hazy camera plastic cover and I was trying to clean it with a bit of force when it cracked
Hi,
Which did you go for in the end and where from?

I bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280509675579&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It looks perfect. The keyboard had some Chinese characters printed next to the English, so I asked them to send me an English only one but it hasn't arrived yet.
Apart from that I'm also waiting for a new flex cable assembly from another store before I will reassemble the phone. I'll post picture then.
I wished there was a full housing on eBay that sold every single outside part.
That one doesn't include any side buttons.
The main front black button.
The two rear rubber screw covers.
i want to buy, but idk how to change it myself. are there any references or nice guides out there?

I was looking into a new silver housing recently on eBay due to my battery cover losing color... yes the black X1... while it looks nice, the battery cover is just bad at keeping its beauty even if you take good care of it. Is it complicated to change the housing?
Update...
So I finally recieved my housing yesterday, and the first thing I noticed was the two rear 'rubber-feet' were not included. WHEN IT SHOWED IN THE PICTURE THEY WOULD COME WITH! The back black piece behind the screen, that slides up, was scratched and looked used.
DON'T BUY FROM THIS EBAY SELLER: tangyunshop899.
It came with a stylus which I wasn't aware of. Wow. It doesn't even hold itself in the phone. It keeps falling out.
The quality I think is almost the same. It looks like the metal is a little itty bitty silverish-color, more then OEM. The font on the keyboard was thinner on the Chinese-made. When the backlight turns on, you can see more then just the 'lettering', you can literally almost see the whole key light up. Kinda ugly and cheap.
Each key on keyboard doesn't quite fit, but it's trying.
When they ship the housing to do, it's already put together, it was a pain, taking it apart, because it was so stiff, I thought I almost broke the rear parts, that border the battery.
Everything fit snuggly. The phone felt study again. I had to reuse all the old electronic stuff, bolts, screws, and anything gold, such as the things that hold the screws in internally. Reuse the white plastic 'flash-lens' from the camera. Re-use side buttons. Don't forget the microphone!
I also bought a new screen that was faulty. Screen lit-up, but no touch-response.
DON'T BUY FROM THIS EBAY SELLER: moonmoonlam.
I guess you could say it was worth the money. I spent $59.00? Looks a hecka lot better than my old one. (Cracking, huge dents, scratches.)
Now I'm just waiting on a new digitizer, and 3600mAH extended battery for this thing.
CNN Housing
This is not eBay but maybe you could check out this online seller: http://cnn.cn/shop/sonyericsson-xperia-c-28_638.html
Can I have my housing changed at a service center? I'm scared of changing it myself. I'm willing to pay more for it, just to avoid the headache.
I found a dummy phone is much cheaper than buying a new housing. So i was wondering would it be possible to take the housing off a dummy phone and put it on my phone?
In short - NO. Dummy phones are only designed to look the part on the outside. Inside, however, they are nothing like the real thing and are not filled with anything, some are solid to add weight only. I never seen a dummy phone that was suitable for housing replacement, no matter how much it replicated the real thing.
Housings are not so expensive at all; about 20 dollars,
Look at Ebay? http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=so..._nkwusc=sony+ericsson+xperia+x1+houing&_rdc=1
they are made of plastic. definitely not. Just go buy a replacement

Has anybody tried this FASCIA housing wichm most of them are from HK or china?
I don't know how they are, and I'm afraid. From what I know OEM are better than fascia. Me also I would pay 25 usd on a housing or 30 on a full housing (with slider part also). What do you recomend?

Fascia means FACEPLATE, it's not a brand or means anything else, so not OEM vs Fascia comparison, rather an original product or a copy. The thing is, the original had multiple problems by cracking and falling apart all by itself, no misuse or abuse was needed, so it doesn't actually even matter which one you take. In all other cases OEM would be better.
so OEM it is not original but is better than a copy. Yeah I know about the cracks of the original ones but reading here i understood that this "fascia" are worse and I could spend the money for nothing in the end because it wouldn't fit.
If you end up buying a new housing on eBay, expect lower quality.
I ordered a body, it came with everything except for the back of the LCD (the part that has the slider that connects both halves together). The battery cover was aluminum (but lighter, less reflective paint). The plastic was quite light, and on the keyboard, where the seam is for the silver sides and the center section, the join is visible, not as nice as the original. However, the fascia was aluminum (or some other metal) - probably the best quality thing of it all, although the camera and light sensor holes seemed frosted.
I never got to using this body, but I'll keep it as a spare in case something disastrous happens.
tl;dr: Expect lower quality from eBay, will do the trick, may have missing parts.
Are they good? They're even advertised as "Genuine" for $7~8, but without the HTC logo at front / back.

Note: Yes, we know that not everybody likes the dot view case.

Here's the one with the HTC logo for a few bucks more.
Personally, I think it's the same exact piece of plastic. One just has a logo and a steeper price.

Guess what bro, those aren't genuine either even if they say so. If you look at the pics you'll notice that some don't have the htc logo
I have the genuine gray, I bought it when I've got the phone, but I'm curious about the quality of the ones they're selling for $8, that's it.
To be honest they look exactly the same but I would like a closer look. Sellers in Amazon claim that they're identical to the genuine with the exception of the logo.

I always stay away from unbranded stuff, but these called my attention because they look identical and there are more colors available
Don't put a 10cent case on a $600 phone.....spend the money on a genuine case.

Weirdly I got one on eBay for about 9$ sold as authentic and I figured why not get one to check out how much I like it and it was HTC branded. Although that could be faked.

I had an original dot view case that I purchased the week the M8 came out. I accidentally ripped the front from the back trying to stretch it to go over my glass screen protector. Back in July I purchased this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/291190318285.
It doesn't say HTC and obviously an overseas knockoff. In my opinion it's much, much nicer than the OEM version. It will flip open all the way back easily and isn't near as springy. It also works with my .3mm glass screen protector, http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6100440084.html.

Don't use one of these cases for protection period. I can almost state with certainty that if you drop your phone on any kind of solid surface, it will definitely come flying out of these cases. In fact, if you clumsily open the case to fast the device will come flying out sometimes. That is in the original from Verizon. They offer some screen protection while in pockets or bags, but little to no drop protection & even in bags, the top & bottom of the device is not protected from scratches.
It was a little more than I remembered but it's 13$ http://www.ebay.com/itm/221503424128?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The pictures are of mine.
Beyond that I agree with the post above mine, the dot view case is very functional as an accessory but as a protector it's useless it pops out so easily.

I ordered this one last night and hope to see it in the mail sometime next week.

And I also agree with the two previous posts. I bout the official case back in June and two weeks ago, it fell on a carpeted space and the phone flew out of it as well as the corners that secure the phone popping off. Since I enjoyed the functionality of the case, I ordered the above since spending $40.00 for something HTC will not stand behind (I tried to get them to replace it but was told they would not) was not something I was willing to do again.
I will report back pnce I get it.
I had the fake one with logo and the real deal case I got from a Verizon store. Felt the fake with the logo was just as good. So went to return the real deal case at Verizon. Turns out I mistakenly packaged the fake one and returned that one to Verizon(honest mistake). I had no idea until later when I took my One out of my csndyshell case and popped it in the dot view....So while I didn't mean to do that, I ended up with the real deal case. But honestly the fake one closed better than the real one. That is how close they are.
I'm on the Dot View case fence. I really like the concept but the reviews I've read have kept me from picking one up. Does the flap "loosen up" for lack of a better term after using it over time. What I mean is when open and flipped to the back does it start loosing it's springness that people complain about. I like hearing that the generic's seem just as good as the one from htc. I may just have to pick one up at the lower price.
I had an authentic one, and then recently bought one of those non-authentic ones.
As a direct comparison, they both look the same, but the quality is different. particularly, the dots' translucent level is very uneven, so you'll get random brighter vs darker patches
on the authentic one, all dots have consistent translucency
OME or Knock-off, I wish that someone would come out with one that snaps on decently (even if it used double-sided tape) and maybe wrapped in leather. The plastic makes the phone feel so cheap! I had the original. I have since misplaced it since I got a cheap otterbox knock off for now. Does the job, but I do miss the DotView for the cool factor.

I have an OEM Dot View case and love it. I spent about $15 for it on Amazon. HTC also updated Dot View to add more functionality. And I was surprised yesterday by the Halloween animations. I'm very impressed by it and glad I got it.
SoI received my case today in the mail and here are my findings:
1. The case closes just as well as the OEM one I had.
2. The plastic case itself feels a bit thinner that the OEM one but I like that since I felt the OEM one was a bit too thick and added bulk to the phone.
The "Seams are not as smooth as the OEM but I am going to try and use a nail file and see if I can't fix that my self
4. The "Springiness" of the hinge that is in the OEM is not present in this case as it was in the OEM
5. The cover does not lay flat on the back of the case when opened all the way but I think that is just due to the design of the case.
6. The case seeme to snap onto the phone as well as the OEM case did.
To me, the $8.00 I spent on this case is totally worth it. As a matter of fact, I might order myself a second one to have different colors to chose from. If you think about it, for the price of one OEM you can get 6 of these in different colors and still have $2 and change left over!
I posted some pics of the case but it's hard to see any details.
Hope this helps you guys make a choice.

I never cared about the Dot View case, but I just ordered one. $9.30 with the NC state sales tax. Can't beat that. I guess I've been a little curious about them, since there are a lot of decent cases under ten bucks, but I pretty much sprung on this one.
No idea how long the sale is for. Could be over any time, really.
Bought one. Thanks!
Match price it at best buy and got it for $9.4O
Just make sure to get the one that is shipped and sold by Amazon. I got one last week for $12 and it is 100% genuine. Not the best case I have ever used, but for $12 It's a cool case for going out, and showing off.

mine takes like three weeks to get here
Can anyone confirm, that the M8 fits with the Dot view Case in the Car D190?
Regarding shipping, I ordered just before or after I posted, on a Saturday. They said it would be here Monday. It was here Tuesday. So 3 days instead of 2 (I have Amazon Prime).
The case fits but not completely. The bottom part fits like a glove. There's no mistaking how it fits in. Perfect fit. However the lid (the dot view part) does not close all the way. I have nothing on my screen, not even a screen protector.
The dot view gimmick is just that. You can swipe on the case but you have to really press. You might be surprised by how much pushing you have to do. You can't change the theme. You can't customize a thing about it. You can change the temperature units in Settings → HTC Weather. This is not very intuitive and it's not stated anywhere in the manual.
The magnet thing works great. When you open it, the screen comes on. When you close it, the phone goes to sleep.
Dark grey means grey that is not light. I wouldn't call it dark, either. It's just grey. It's similar to the gun metal grey finish of the phone (if you have that option — I do, except stupid PC Verizon calls it "metal grey" since "gun" is a bad word now) but matte, not glossy. And it extends the premium feel of your phone. It feels like a premium product. It feels like a genuine HTC accessory.
It does leave dot view smudges on your screen, but these are easily wiped off with a microfiber cloth, which every phone owner should have, anyway.
You can forget about one-hand usage. You will need the other hand to hold the case open while you text.
I use a FlyGrip and I have their case. The FlyGrip would not stick to the bare back of the HTC One M8. I don't know if that's because the adhesive doesn't bond to metal. It's peeled off my naked Samsung Galaxy S3 and two of its cases cleanly, so the bond is not permanent. I might try attaching my FlyGrip to the Dot View case, but what would be the point? The FlyGrip is made to accommodate one-handed phone use. Dot View prevents it. And with a FlyGrip, you gain a kickstand, but you just can't lay your phone flat on its back.
So now I have two cases, and though I meant to take the Dot View case to work, I just didn't bother taking my phone out of the FlyGrip case. I intend to keep the Dot View case, but probably won't. I have one IRL friend with a One M8, and I might let him try it out, but he only uses his phones naked. He doesn't like cases at all and thinks they're a waste of time that take away from the engineering of the phone — especially a nice one like ours. And I don't disagree, but I like the FlyGrip's utility. It's useful to me. It prevents drops. But it isn't cheap.
Bought a new one because it's cheaper, forgot it doesn't work well with my glass screen protector. =\

Theme stuff is in the HTC Dot View app. If not on phone, then it's on Google Play.
Also if you're rooted, you can do a lot more, theme-wise.
Hey all,
I finally got one, at a pretty good deal from Alibaba (8GB/256GB for $800 + $45 DHL shipping). I unboxed it and noticed two sticking edges, like very thin black silicone edges. Anything to worry about? it's unexpected obviously and I assume it wasn't finalized properly at the factory. No visible side effects although I suspect its effect on the phone IP rating.

You can probably return it but might take a month to get replacement
If it's barely visible I wouldn't bother
I pulled one of the edges out and it just went and snipped the other one with a delicate cutter tool, as I figured it's better than pulling it. Couldn't leave it hanging like that. I doubt it did anything, but I dunno, it's kinda weird receiving an $800 phone like that.
Well firstly I would like to as you if it is a global or a Chinese version, 800$ seems quite cheap and you might have received a refurbished phone rather than a new phone at that price point, I don't know the market value for this phone now but still should be higher than that even though Xiaomi 12 has been announced but not yet released
You can get it for $800 from Alibaba and the specific seller I got it from has quite a lot of happy reviews and no mentioning of a refurbished one, so I think it's safe to say it isn't. It's the Chinese variant of the phone, as it didn't make sense to get the global one.
I never heard of silicone sealant being used on smartphones. Acetic acid is corrosive unless they used the 2 part potting silicone mix designed for electronics. So there's that...
Always cut (razor blade), never pull.
Could be a refurb with sloppy replacement panel
Go to the site and check the IMEI numbers to see if it's been used in china before, it will tell you the exact date
Which site? I was only able to find this and it won't say dates: https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei.
