Alright, so here's a little background.
I've bought my hammerhead in India. However, there were no "Airtel" bands to provide LTE for our phone.
I had performed compatibility checks and it confirmed that my phone was not supported.
I didn't bother much, cause I had WiFi everywhere.
Recently, we got a couple of jio Sims at my place.
Last night I popped in the Reliance Jio sim to check how the net works and well, it has free net, so decided to use it up.
I used it all merrily and was done with it for the day. Decided to pop back in my Airtel sim.
Here's the weird part.
I switch off my phone, pop in my Airtel SIM, boot it up.
To my surprise, I see LTE on my network bar.
I thought, may be my phone was not displaying the info properly, since I'm using a custom ROM.
I did a little digging and it was confirmed that my network had switched to LTE/4G.
I'm still not clear what happened here.
May be Jio activated any bands? Is there such a possibility?
If there's anyone out there who could probably give an idea as to what changed, it would be great
Please note that I'm using Airtel in "Karnataka".

Like Delhi NCR, airtel has launched FDD-LTE on band 3 in KA. Hence, the 4G support.
Even jio has multiband 4G, band 3 and band 40.

Oh.. since when? Was there something that I had to change? Cause I used jio just for few hours and then switched back to Airtel.. there must be some setting that changed that resulted in my Airtel giving me LTE as well.
That's what I'm more curious about. By the way.. thanks for the info.

Hello everyone,
For the longest time I was not able to get LTE connection on my Note 4 international variant (N910F). I called T-Mobile about it, since I knew the phone had the capabilities to connect, and T-Mobile told me that I should have bought their phone if I wanted LTE, and that they could not help me.
Giving up all hope on LTE connection, I started installing roms to see what cool features where out there. I installed several different roms, and still I had no LTE (not that I was thinking of getting it). Then I installed CM12 and LTE appears! I check the speeds and indeed I was connected to LTE on T-Mobile line. Everything was great until I found out CM12 has three great bugs that I cannot live with: 1) No apps to SD possibility and 2) Access to the camera, from any app, crashes. I have to reopen the app a second time for the camera to function (Messenger has no access at all) and 3) Various app crashes.
So I returned to stock rom, but I miss the features of a custom rom (especially ViPER) and LTE. I tried other roms but I can't find any with LTE working.
Do you know what part of CM12 enables LTE? And if I can flash it into another more stable custom rom?
Thanks
With stock formware on N910F, the LTE icon is displayed as 4G. Try checking your connection again by going to Settings>About Device> Status... then under Mobile Network type.. you can see if you are actually connected to LTE.. There is also an app called Network Signal Info on play store. Good luck

I checked the connection on mobile network on stock ROM and the highest option I had was 4G. Maybe I'll email CyanogenMod and ask them. Thanks though

Yup....
On international phones, LTE signal is represented by 4G icon. So if you see 4G on your phone, it's actually LTE. You were already getting LTE in the first place. You did not have to flash roms and void warranty.
Do you see "LTE" as in the picture below?

Update:
As of 03/31/2016 I'm testing networks that ride on AT&Ts towers seeing as T-Mobile hadn't been working. (Guessing band limitations.) Updated below is Straight Talk HSPA/HSPA+ initial tests. (Tested indoors near Sacramento California.)

I'm getting the Xiaomi Mi5 and know allot of you already have or plan to get it. I'll be posting speed tests for California USA, Sacramento area on various carriers. Post your results, carrier, and region below! (Keep region results minimal if wanted.)
Thanks!

Not that it's my concern. But people want to probably know if band 20 works
I'll be keeping my eye on this thread. :cyclops:
please test the signal (2g, 3g and 4g) if is strong, compared with another cellphone; and how is the call quality and how is the voice,
thank you
Test band 20 please!
Sent from my G3
All bands that I can test will be tested but please do keep in mind that I live near Sacramento California and will only be able to test my area, Tahoe, San Fran.
I will be testing with multiple carriers also.
This is a group effort, anyone who has it, test it.
Thanks all!
Definately interested in this thread, the only two reasons I haven't got a Mi5 yet is because
a) I'm Australian, and they don't support band 28 (supposedly) and
b) They haven't released the Pro model yet.
I do have some questions though, as the first post is quite vague...
What will you be testing? Throughput? Reception? Supported bands?
If you're testing bands...
Will you just be testing in its' completely standard state?
Are you going to attempt modification with QPST/QXDM to enable US bands?
If you can indeed get more bands on it I'm getting one.
I do believe that it's a possibility - I read somewhere (can't find the source now...) that the X12 modem is the first by Qualcomm to have the modem/baseband in the same solution.
I'm assuming the reason some phones could be unlocked and some couldn't before this is due to vendor-specific modem adjustments or different sub-SKUs of the Qualcomm chipset, so I'm excited to see if it's possible.
All reasonable questions.
I'll be testing latency, download, upload, bands on specific carriers, and reception on specific carriers.
I won't be testing any modifications any time soon, sorry.
Thanks!
I've just switched my network in order to make use of Volte and 4G+. Looking forward to seeing how fast it can go. Supposed to be upto 300mbps over here in DK
With the 2G network shutting down in Australia at the end of this year, I'm actually very keen on a replacement that can handle concurrent 3G/3G on each sim.
Would you also be able to test this?

Just got mine Mi5 64Gb pre-ordered for about 440eur!
Well, the eBay seller I bought my Xiaomi Mi5 from just said he's out of stock. I'm now in the process of getting a refund and will be trying to get another Mi5 soon.
Keep the thread alive, do some speed tests etc. and I'll keep everyone updated!!
Thanks!

Most likely no, the LTE won't work.
I found the Qualcomm drivers for the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the Diag mode
Code:
*#*#717717#*#*
With these it should be possible to unlock more bands, at least in theory.

I bought a LG G4 from my local Boost Mobile shop that was flashed from Sprint. He sold it to me at a very low price of $200 when it was $450 at the time because not even he could figure out why talk/text would work but not data. Wifi works perfect but when I leave my wifi spot or turn wifi off data is non-existent. I bought the phone from him knowing that data didn't work, and at the time I didn't need data, but now I do. It is a cdma phone because I see no slot, after taking the battery out, where a sim card would be inserted. Is there any possible way to get this phone flashed a second time to a full flash from a potential half flash? If so can you please give me a step by step guide, link a definite guide that WILL work, and or, a video that WILL work? Thank you in advance, and hopefully I can get this issue resolved because this phone, although not the latest, is a magnificent mobile device and I would sure hate to have to discard it because I can't get data on the go.
1st of all there is a sim card slot. You were looking in the right spot, by the battery but it's under to SD card slot. Even though it's a CDMA phone data won't work without the sim, and you will only get talk & text. I am assuming there is no sim installed as you would have seen it installed. I would suggest going to a sprint store and getting one (if you have sprint) or whoever you carrier is. A phone is pretty straight forward and ours is no different. There is no such thing as "half flashing" a phone. If you have service but no data then there are only three possibilities: Incorrect APN, profile needs to be updated or no sim. Hope this helps.

I have updated everything in system update as many times as i could.
The Sprint/Boostmobile/Virginmobile sim are on eBay for the G4 and they are pretty cheap.
Hello,
I'm not even sure if the phone connect to Tmobile LTE bands, but according to the spec sheet, the phone does have all the Tmobile LTE bands (2,4,12). But I only get about 4~6Mbps download and 1~2 Mbps upload speed running speedtest.
Anything I can do to improve the speed? I already create a new APN and tried with different settings like IPv4/IPv6 and IPv4 alone.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Anyone ?? No one has the same issue as me? I also flashed the AQI4 latest firmware with AQI4 baseband and things seem a bit better, but still very slow.
Probably need to flash a T-Mobile CSC and we might need to call them and have them provision something with our IMEI as well. My N950N has the same slow issue as you, but I noticed if I insert the SIM, for a few minutes the data speed will be very fast, then suddenly just drops to garbage slow.
Also wondering if perhaps there's a physical issue with some of these. My signal strength and download speeds are garbage again (thought that they were fixed by restoring the stock EFS partition but I appear to have made a mistake).
Testing at my house now next to my Note 5, the Note 8's signal strength bounced between 9-15 dBm worse than the Note 5 (it's signal strength varied by at most 1 dBm), same LTE band and running multiple speed tests concurrently and separately the Note 5 was averaging 100mbps down (testing on the same server for consistency) where the 8 was anywhere between about 16 Mbps to 35.5 Mbps again on the same server.
This is on complete bone stock factory flash with Odin.
Another oddity is that the upload speed was higher on average on the 8, it was 1-5 Mbps higher than on the Note 5 even though the 5 is destroying it in download speeds.
I am really starting to suspect a loose antenna wire.
I have the F/DS Singapore variant on t mobile. Signal strength is great so far and getting 4G+.

In my case it turned out that my usb/antenna/mic/speaker circuit board kind of died after about 1 week - that is why my LTE signal and speeds suddenly dropped. When it was working properly I was able to get download speeds between 100-200+ Mbps, in an area with signal strength approximately -75 dBA, but now in the same area it only gets about -95 to -100 dBA and I'm lucky to get 20 or 30 Mbps. Waiting for replacement parts to become available so I can replace the faulty board.
Also apparently a lot of these are having issues as many people are reporting some or all of the issues related to the components on that board (slow/poor LTE, mic issues, etc).

I spoke to a network tech he said it would be available in April. He lied. Sprint purposely disabled the feature to force a new device purchase. If we can hack VOLTE on oreo and not pie its very revealing about their designs

While we're at it where is the Download Booster?
That's strange
On my Samsung galaxy so note I haven't been able to receive any data to surf the internet or send sms if I am on the call yet it says I have volte enabled??? So why won't it work??? The frustration with Samsung is real......... And sprint...... It says enabled volte provision whatever that means.
i have a unlocked sprint Note 9 & after pie update there is no VoLTE now. (I am trying to use it on JIO network in India).
Is there a way to Install Other Global ROM instead of Sprint ROM so that VoLTE can naturally be activated & not hidden or disabled ?
