I recently put it into UPSM and my launcher crashed at that moment. so my screen went completely black.
I went to do a factory reset and my phone has gotten stuck on the samsung logo. its fairly charged but wont go past that point.
Now the only time it turns on is when i plug it into a power source. for some reason i cannot boot the phone independently nor plugged in. the screen only displays the logo after i plug the charger in. I have no idea what happend to this phone. It is not water damaged or has never been dropped.

well, try to flash your phone firmware manually using odin. if it does not work than it could be faulty battery. i had a similar issue on note 4 due to fault battery. my phone used to boot only when i plugged it with charger. get exchange if that is case.
edit :- i just read that few other users are also reporting battery issues.
It might be corrupted, try to reflash it back using the original ROM
Hey guys,
my 1 year old Xiaomi Mi 5 has a problem. It just turnes black after some time and I am not able to turn it back on by pressing the power button until I unplug and plug back in the battery. Which I had to do 2 times because the first time it somehow didn't work.
So, after what time does it turn black/off?
- Last time I was able to do everything for about 2-3 days until it turned itself off
- The time before it worked about 1-2 days
Last time I did that precedure the battery wasn't working properly. It didn't show me any percentage and after I unplugged it went black. So I unplugged and replugged the battery again and it worked. Maybe there was a connection issue I don't know. The only strange thing was that the battery was at 0% and started charging normally, but I charged it up to 100% the day before and didn't use it much. It was at about 80-90% when I got to bed.
I had the official Xiaomi Global Developer version of MIUI 9 installed. After the first failure I switched to the Ciaomi Global Stable ROM and I had the same issues. Now after about 2 months I thought about trying to repair it. Dowloaded and installed the newest Xiaomi Global Stable MIUI9 ROM and it failed me after 2-3 days.
I have never repaired a smartphone. Repairing shouldn't be the problem either, but I don't know what causes the issues.
It works for some days and then suddenly breaks. Can the motherboard really be broken if everything works for days and then breaks?
Battery is also working properly. Can get through a day without a problem of running out of battery.
I am really clueless what could cause the issues. Do you guys have any ideas?
IF you need any information feel free to ask.
Thanks for trying to help,

Having problem with phone shutting down when the battery gets under 40% . Phone then tries to reboot 2 or 3 times and then shuts down and will not restart until I take battery out and put it back in or I put it on the charger! I have tried 3 different batteries and resetting the phone. I don't know whether it's the phone or a battery problem. Can someone help me with this, please!
Hello guys, really bummed out here.
I recently rediscovered my original mi mix which I had 4 years ago.
Everything was working except the battery couldn't hold a charge. It will charge to 100% and while using the phone it will just shut down randomly. So I changed to a new battery and hoped for the best.
Now with the new battery it's the same. Battery charges up to 100%.i tried the pixel rom, xiomi global rom and now I'm on dotOS, same ****.
The weird thing is I put it in safe mode and the phone has not shut down for 4 hours now but it is stuck at 70%.
If I plug in the cable the phone works fine. The moment I take it out and start using it. It randomly goes into a bootloop and dies. When I charge it back, battery always starts of at 50%
Is there any hope or is it just a beautiful paperweight?

Hi Bro. I sent it to a phone repair shop and they said the issue was with the battery. Replaced a new one and its working like normal again. I probably bought a defective battery
Sounds like a mobo issue.
Try a hard reset ie disconnect the battery.
I charged my Note 10s and it jumped from 17% to 19%. I thought it would be a good idea to power off the phone and continue charging, so I’ve done just that. I left it and catch some naps for a few hours and when I got back, the battery logo was blank! I tried to power it on but no use, the same results for recovery and bootloader. I unplugged and replugged the adapter but it’s also futile, the battery logo is still not changing. Then it hit me that that was the first time I powered it off after the last OTA (installed magisk in the inactive slot), so maybe it’s related to that ?
Here’s the battery logo
Was it rooted via magisk and did you unroot before applying the OTA update?
Tried a totally different charger and usb cable? If you're in a hot country these high wattage faster chargers can easily overheat and pop internal fuses before they can burn a house down.
Held the power button down for 10+ seconds to power cycle it?
Try a hard reset, see if that works
Thanks everyone for your attention to the post. My phone got completely hard bricked after that. Somehow, my warranty hasn’t been voided and I still got it repaired for free. Again, thank you all for your attention, and have a good day!
