Hey guys..
So ok admittedly I've only tried Rocket Rom v8 so far but I am having a few niggles with it.
What's everyone's views on the other roms out there? Any opinions on the best and why?

I went back to v7.
V8 had too many prob for me. 7 is much faster and smoother for me

V9 that'll come out Monday
So I'm guessing that the rocketrom is the peoples favourite?

I'm still on stock(KL3) with mowmo's theme. Waiting for a near perfect ROM, probably Rocket ROM's next version. BTW, how's Cassie's UltraLite ROM?
Well, Im on checkrom revo Note HD v5 ... and so far satisfied with it... no probs at all ... its unique feature is its Kitchen pro app
I still think the ROMS on Note are lacking compare to its small brother GS2..
Hi there, i tested all the roms avalible.
If u want to do a full wipe without boot loops and very good battery and smooth operating try Darky note 3.1 or King Droid 4.0 i like those 2 very much.
I won't go into bashing other's work but some just release their roms to get donations without even owning the device...
I'll just say two thumbs up for Rocket Rom. You can see i posted V8 a couple of posts ago, since then we're at V21 and i still think it's the best darn ROM currently available.
I tried them all, now back to stock LA4, and happy

I've tried Stock Rooted LA4, RocketRom, and Cassie's XL, and my favorite is Cassies. I tried Abyss 3.3/3.4, Speedmod, and FM Kernel 1.5/1.6/2.0 and ended up with FM 2.0.
I chose it because of it's smoothness/performance. Battery is average at best, but it lasts a day so I'm ok with it.
RocketROM v21! it's just perfect.
I've got RocketROM v20 and AbyssNoteKernel 3.6 and it works perfect.
No issues anywhere. and no overheating. Nothing. It just works smoothly and calm
there are 4/5 very good roms
all with + and -
so its impossible to say which is "the best"
depends on your needs
i tried many rocket roms and i was amazed by the good work
then i switched on another 1, maxicet's rom and i was again impressed
different solutions and so on with a different final result but its like to compare 2 beatiful flowers
then i tried darky rom and again i said gosh.....very good job
so many rom fits your needs better than stock and all deserve a try
Which is the best custom ROM?
And why, in your opinion?
Please, post your answer in this thread, it would be useful for many ppl
Thanks a lot

There is no best ROM. It solely depends on your preference.
Cassie's XtraLiteRom was the 1st ROM I flashed with. But it removed too many features which I deemed essential.
Then I flashed to DarkyNote ROM. But I encountered too many bugs.
Finally, I flashed Sheep ROM, and have been using it ever since for 2 weeks.
No bugs as of yet. I like its balance of pure stock and optimizations/tweaks.

i started off with darkrom, had it for 2 days, but it was a bit buggy..
then i moved on to rocket, which was pretty good, except it drained the batt faster than stock :S
i'm now on checkrom, i've had it for a week, and i couldn't be more satisfied.. great battery life, i've gotten up to 40hrs on above moderate usage, good performance, and the kitchen pro app that it comes with is amazing.
I also settled on checkrom for the battery life and stability.

Again you're right.
But in this way ppl can save time, making an idea of pro/cons of some ROM.
Do you never look at the rating or comments about an app to decide wether install it or not or wether it worths to try it?
For ROMs I think this kind of opinion is much more important and useful.

Let's be honest here...there IS a best rom at any given moment. There is very little criteria needed to decide which is best:
1) speed/performance
2) battery life
3) functionality/options
4) theme/aesthetica
1 and 2 are pretty straight forward, 3 doesn't have much budge room either and for 4, some people like loud and colorful cartoons on their phones and others prefer a cleaner, more minimalist look.
I can never understand why so many people dislike this kind of best rom thread. There ate a lot of smart, informed people on here who could offer better insights as to the pros/cons of multiple roms, why discourage this?
I've used every rom in the Dev thread and it its crystal clear to me that rocket rom is far and away the best in all the aforementioned categories. Cassies was ok but too thin, sheep rom was good at first but got swallowed up by the competition. Check rom is good but rocket is better, darky flat out sucked and there its no reason to go into the rest.

Can I help me pick a rom too? I'm reading up on Rocket ROM and Check ROM right now though.
Here's what I need:
1 & 2 - Max / best possible combination.
3 & 4 - I may only need highly-significant, innovative changes that you can judge as sort of.. "something you've been missing" while on stock rom. But then again, I may not have much regard for a specific item so I can probably live without it.
THANKS!!
Tbh, DarkyROM really seems to be buggy. I've read too many bug reports in that thread. I tried the ROM myself, and encountered numerous bugs as well.
I'm going to try Rocket ROM to see if jason370's claims are true.
I think we need some AOSP-based ROMs ASAP.
EDIT:
I've tried CheckROM v2 before, too.
I got random bootloops with AbyssNote v2.8, so I was forced to restore back to Sheep ROM.
Only recently received my shiny new Galaxy Note and the first thing I did was root it, CWM it and get the following ROM installed:
CheckROM Revo NoteHD
The reason I opted for this one is that the ROM Kitchen adds a lot of options for customization which means the tweaks I get are decided by *me* and not a ROM developer. So far I have yet to experience any problems with it and it did allow me to overclock. It even goes as far as letting you switch kernels from the device its self, can't fault that!
So far I'm a happy chap and glad I switched from my old iPhone 4!
I think n7000xxkl8 Rom will be best if u install it with mobile Odin.

I think you're talking about stock ROMs.
I tried romow and rhapsody.... now I'm using rhapsody and I find it very fast and stable.
As the note is my only phone, I have to run stock which is fine by me. Can't risk issues etc...

Running Checkrom on my SGS2 and planning on running the same thing on the galaxy note when i get it this week. its the perfect rom for people who want a stock experience on steroids. Im guessing the note version is basically the same thing.
However, Im kind of shocked about many users reporting bad battery life and laggyness on the note. That was my main problem with most android phones since day 1 and have not had a single issue like that with my sgs2 since ive had it. I was hoping the note would be an improvement over that, I guess i will have to find out.

No issue and no risk with rhapsody... Me too I have only this phone!

I have tried Rocket and currently on CheckRom V3.
My personal experience, Rocket has better battery life. I would get atleast 2 days on Rocket. This was on the older V14 version. eybee has already released v17. For the same amount of usage, CheckRom V3 drains in a day.
If you would like to keep all the samsung apps that come with the stock rom without the hassle of trying to figure out which apps you want and which you don't want, Rocket will be good.
CheckRom has the Samsung apps removed. However you can install them from the Kitchen. I like the Kitchen option in CheckRom. If you are open to customizing your rom a lot, this is a good.
+1 for the [JAN 9][XXKL7][2.3.6][FINAL] CheckROM Revo NoteHD™ V3 its running on Steroids!
+ Kitchen App
+ very smooth with Abyss 3.0
+ lasts more than 2 days on battery with moderate/normal use
Hi all. I've got a SGS (I9000).
I need same advice: what Is the best ROM for me?
I usually use my smartphone to:
- send SMS;
- surf on internet (like Facebook);
- call samebody.
The battery life is VERY IMPORTANT!
Thanks ^^
Try aopk rom 2.02 beta ICS
sent from my ice creamed super sgs
Well i've been testing out lots and lots of roms and seems that ICS is the ones that saves battery the most and they run much smoother too. And stock browser runs much smoother on ics too... So i think ics is the way.. I'm just not sure what of them draws less battery life tough.
I'm using ICSSGS RC4.2 and with heavy use the battery seems to last pretty ok and that rom is almost perfect with almost everything working. Actually i think its the best ics rom today, tomorrow could be another rom But yeah it all depends what you use and like for your phone and for me its that one atm.
I've tried many many roms and all ICS-rom don't have good battery life.
My favorites:
- Amestris-roms
- SauRom
- JW1 with Tornado-kernel
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I agree, depending on what your looking for would determine the best rom for you. the best bet is just trying them and seeing which you like the best, truthfully a lot of the rom are hard to notice performance differences and many perform alike. If you are looking for the best battery life i would personally be looking back at some 2.2 and 2.3.x based roms. they have had the most time invested in them so far, and have not been completely ported.
a good webpage to check out roms is done by @AlChemistar at android candy and then find the device.
personally i have only experimented with 2.3.x based roms and ICS
for gingerbread i would recommend:
DarkysRom (10.2 Extreme)
Fl GS2
MIUI
For ICS:
TeamHacksung
OneCosmic
drZMIUIV4 beta 8.1
for a full list got to android candy. this is just what i prefer, and for making calls, texting and web browsing ICS is nicer but the interface for texting does lack. you may want tot check out theme available to take the white background back to the Samsung black for AMOLED screens.
yeah, i suggest the 2.3.x roms for battery life. they are way more matured than ICS per now.
i just installed ICSSGS RC4.2, and battery life is not good, ( i need to test different kernel).

Personally i have tried different ics rom's the one who worked best for me was: AOPK rom 2.02 beta ICS
I would also recommend the AOKP v. 2.02 ICS
It works really good and smooth for me. Baterry life is good and pesonalization possibilities are huge!

wow a lot of good comments of aokp v 2.02 which i am currently downloading and will flash soon..until now in the last one year..i felt jetpack rom had the best battery life..almost 3 days with minimum usage and a day and a half with high usage...however will try aokp now and give my feedback..

From your post it sounds like we have similar phone useage. So far i've found team icssgs with semaphore 0.8.1 to have great lag free experience with good battery life. Fairly light useage as I use my tablet for most internet & games (wifi, 3g on only if i need it with several calls, sms's, some xda, facebook& g+) and i made just under 4 days down 10% battery or there about.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
I think I also have the same usage (phone, text, and web), and I'm a bit disappointed with ICSSGS RC4.2 with semaphore kernel. But I have data always connected (and synchro on), and when I use my phone intensively for about one hour, I loose about 30% of battery life. I'm still looking for a rom with data always enabled, that I can use intensively for 2 hours per day, without charging it during the day.. If you know a rom like that (like galaxy nexus do, but for SGS), please let me know !!
Hello,
I'm just getting sick of the state of the Stock Note 4 rom. I feel like the only time it works properly is when i first bought it and only a short time after that. I need help in locating a Daily Driver Rom. One that can be also used for someone that is not Smartphone savvy. I do not need all the bells and whistles. What I would like is to keep the Wifi Calling. I'm currently running 5.0.1 Baseband COG2.
TYIA
I'd recommend Rapture. I've been on that one for about a week now and no joke, it's the ONLY rom I haven't had a single issue with.
I recommend Dr ketans s6 port been using it for weeks. Great battery life
Stable rom with Wifi Calling and no bells and whistles, Rapture it is
Look no further than Rapture. Tried them all. Smoothest, most stable rom in development. And actively developed also.
I swear that guy doesn't even sleep.? @iB4STiD, you da man

very nice of u to say my friend!! thank u very much!! .. :good:
tekhd rom is the best 10,000 questions and comments cog and dog ready as well a huge customization. super fast @TEKHD
Lots of excellent choices. I've been using Tek's ROMS, and Maximum Ovrdrive. Both are stable, good battery life, and great threads to learn and help become more smart phone savvy too.
There are really nice features too, not sure if you are aware, but screen write off memo now works. Ported from the Note 5. One of the best features of the Note 5.
If you are into headphones, check out Viper4Android. Makes the phone sound like an actually music player, also can make your speaker sound a lot better.
Lots of good themes too in the theme section. Just changing your theme can really make the phone seem like a new toy.
Possibly change your launcher, I love Nova, let's you customize your phone easily, and offers a nicer experience.
All easy options to improve your experience.

I was on tekhds Rom for a long time. And my phone always acted up after weeks of use. Even disabling xposed or dirty flashing the Rom it never got better. Always glitchy don't know why my phone didn't like it but I sticked with it because of DOLBY and viper audio. I flashed rapture 6.0 and I must say phone feels like new again. Absolutely no lag. It's not overflown with tweaks that's what's teks Rom is badass at.

good afternoon everybody, I am in the relearning process of rooted phones. the last phone I have rooted was the htc hero on cyanogenmod 7 with clockworkmod recovery. I have always loved CyanogenMod ROM and appreciate very much the time and effort the team has put for this amazing rom. I have recently traded in my iPhone 6s for the note 4. I am currently using 5.1.1 Resurrection ROM with the latest twrp. I was wondering if there are any ROMs that is better than the one i currently have. I tried out cm remix 13 which is the only ROM that has 6.0 marshmallow but it is not a driver and have a lot of connection problems. Also, I noticed that the device does not have fast charging capabilities once the device is rooted , is there any way to fix that? I normally go from 0-100 is 2 hours but now it takes longer?
OvrDrive

My phone fast charges just fine and I rooted it a month after buying. I do use stock based ROMs, so that may contribute.
Ovrdrive is a good ROM with great features that is very frequently updated, but that's also a problem for me. New releases fix bugs, but often introduce new ones, and the cycle continues. I prefer something more stable for my daily driver. But if you like the cutting edge, it may suit you just fine.
I recently switched to Abstrk Rom and like it's balance of features/stability much better.
No best rom threads.
What is best for one person may not be for someone else...so it's a never ending story and in some cases it ignites flame wars. My best advice, try a couple and make your own judgement.
On that note, thread closed.
