Dialing *#06# won't work if the sim card that's inserted is invalid in the first place, so don't give up just yet.
I only own the factory unlocked N7000, so I'm not sure about this...but is it possible the one you have might be locked?

sorry to tell you that your imei seems to be wiped (this could happen one flashing custom roms or mess with odin)
if you are lucky you will find a EFS (emai) backup file (.tar or .img) so you can use it to restore your emai.
If you know the person who sold you the phone then tell him to give your money back or at least give you the backup.
maybe he knew it and wanted to cheat you... take action right now bro cuz the phone is not unbreakable without the backup.

check your internal memory or sdcard for a falder called efs for the backup.

Need Help Lost IMEI

Hi all.
I will start at the beginning.
Got my MI5 64GB a week ago, opened bootloader
Installed TWRP and CM13. Made a full backup and wanted to try F2FS But failed.
When i got my backup running I've lost IMEI and Baseband.
And i can't get it back from the backup (tried only EFS restore still same problem).
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/xiaomi-mi5-efs-backup-restore-methods-t3432730.
And with OP QCN file and hex editor got my phone back from the dead.
I've notice that MI5 32GB comes with 2 imei on the box.
And MI5 64/128 GB comes with only 1.
1. Why is it?
2. How can i know my 2nd Sim IMEI?
I have restored sim1 imei but dont know how or where is my sim2 imei.
always try to flash the factory image before doing anything!!!
1) make sure your fastboot drivers are present and working
2) download Xiaomi Mi 5 Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download
3) skip the MI flash guide in that link
4) extract your files
5) run flash_all
Thank you i did it already. but only after changing the QCN file (with the guide)
seems like there is no difference IMEI wise .
i have signle and the phone works i just dont know where is my 2nd IMEI
that is why i need help from Mi5 64/128 GB ver owners.
i can restore my backup with the broken EFS (no signel\imei\baseband) and then use miflash
do you think it will help restoring the original IMEI's ?
Is there anyone with mi5 64/128GB versions that can help me?
All i need is to know if in settings you have 2 different IMEIs? And if so can you tell me where is it on the device box? Or where can i find it?

Not all mi Phone has different imei, and it's not depends on what version do you have

So in IMEI information (in settings) you have the same imei for sim1 and sim2?
That's my question..

I'm having the same problem how did you mange to open the phone to do this step:
"CONNECT THE PHONE WITH THE COMPUTER AND DIAL *#*#717717#*#* ON THE DIAL PAD WHICH ENABLES DIAG MODE ON MI5"
did you flash CM ROM because MIUI ROMs doesn't allow me to pass the configuration!
You can try using adb..
The command is "setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb"
CM13 official dont have access to diag mod. I used developers global miui.

from what I understand I must enable debugging mod before entering this command, but I cant pass the configuration in the begging of new installation of the miui rom
If the problem is that the phone is locked because of mi account access issues just replace password when you boot up.

yes it is because of the miui account it keep saying gathering info and after like every 2min a pop msg says imei missing and keep trying to gather info for more than 1hr! tired fastboot flash with clean flash tried xiamoi.eu one all do the same! I'm really stuck! :crying:
I had the same problem.
What i did:
1 Use a computer to remove my device from "find my device" (mi cloud site).*
2 replace password when the phone ask me to login to mi account
I still need help from 64/128GB versions owners.
Hope someone can please check his phone settings (*#06#) and box and tell me if he has only 1 on the box and what is the difference in the numbers?
Im looking for a pattern to restore my 2nd imei

I have a 64GB Mi5 - Have 2 IMEIs when using *#06#. I will check the box for you later but if I remember right, both IMEIs are on the box too. The difference between the 2 IMEIs in my case is 8 (e.g if one is 84981316864102 the second one is 84981316864110 - these are just examples, not my actual IMEIs). Looking at the WikiPedia page for IMEI, it seems the last digit is a check digit based on the Luhn Algo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mobile_Station_Equipment_Identity), so using your first IMEI, the first 14 digits and the Luhn Algo you can try come up with the next IMEI in the series. However, I would check your box first.

Did you check that your last digit in sim2 imei is really compatible with "luhn algo" logic?
If you can confirm it for me you will solve all of my problems!
Lol tried using luhn algo and i get my 1st sim imei last digit.
But how to get 2nd sim last digit?!

It seems to work for me. If I use the first 14 digits, the last number (15th) is what the Luhn algo produces.
For my second IMEI if I then increment this 14th digit by 1 (which is what my second IMEI has, basically what I presume is the next number in the series) the luhn algo provides the correct 15th digit again.
If you want an excel formula to work it out for you use (assuming cell A1) enter this as an array formula (enter formula then press CTRL+ENTER):
Code:
=MOD(SUMPRODUCT(-MID(TEXT(MID(A1,ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&LEN(A1))),1)*(MOD(ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&LEN(A1)))+LEN(A1)+1,2)+1),"00"),{1,2},1)),10

Just to make sure i got it right
If 1st imei 14 dig is 11111111111111 (luhn algo 15 dig = 9)
Then 2nd imei 14 dig is 11111111111112 (luhn algo 15 dig = 7)
And on that number i need to apply luhn algo?

Based on what the IMEIs look like on my phone, yes, that is correct.
However, I am only one data point! Hopefully other people can confirm, but in any case, no harm trying.
Good luck

Thank you very much!!
I will wait for more comments to get confirmation.
Please is there someone else that can confirm the conclusion?

Hi, i have the same problem, hope to find help here, a have done everything but got no valid IMEI working back again.
flashed a lot of dev and stable roms but no success. The qualcomm did not recognize my phone (no active phone were found) (driver is installed)
Baseband is: Unknown
IMEI is Unknown too.
MI Account tells me that there is no possibility to "getting device secuirty info" in case of
"Can't get valid Device ID"
Invalid Device ID: Device ID must be a valid IMEI or MAC adress.
Without device id, some MIAccount and Mi Cloud features won't be available.
I've just rebuild the qcn file for Qualcomm tool but i can't get a connection with this tool to my phone...
i've done all steps as described but i get this error "Could not communicate in Diagnostic mode"

Please help! Stuck at "Type password to decrypt storage"

Hi all!
I debranded my Huawei P9 from EVA-L09C02B123 (Vodafone) to standard EU C432. After that I performed a factory reset from the settings. After it was complete the phone rebooted. However, I am stuck in a screen telling "Type password to decrypt storage". I enter a random password and it says that it is correct but my data is corrupt and that I need to reset the phone to use it but when I do it, the problem remains. How can I solve this problem?
Thanks
Never mind, it works now.

It somehow worked after I had did many resets. For those having the problem just keep reseting it and it will eventually work.

Recovery and eRecovery

Hi everyone.
The thing is, I have eRecovery but I don't have Recovery. Is that normal? I've tried all the combinations I know, volume up + power, volume down + power, with cable connected to the computer, without cable. I just have eRecovery and fastboot mode. By the way, I have a rebranded Huawei P10.
Cheers.

Have you rebranded your phone?
I had the same problem after rebranding my phone. I must have jumped over a step without noticing it. I just rebranded my phone again (full hwota process).

Oh, so maybe that is why I don't have the "normal" recovery... I've realised it when I was trying to update with firmware finder and it rebooted to eRecovery -_-

I rebranded my phone (the second time) in C432B180... B185 never came in OTA so I updated via FF. Did the same with B360. I do not know if OTA updates take longer to come to Canada (due to some kind of IMEI check from Huawei maybe).

December 2019 Security patch with Locked Bootloader

Does holding volume down before executing the unlock command of bootloader bypass the wipe of my A2 or it will not factory reset when i Unlock my bootloader, Does it still works?

Never heard of such technique ?
For me BT unlock always wipes the phone of any brand.
Where did you get that info?

That is because is not possible to do.
With the Mi A2, when it boot you have a screen with a question, and if you are pushing a button, then you must push a button again to continue.

Unlocking the bootloader allows to flash anything.
Meaning you could exploit to remove security and then access data for example.
And its somewhat linked to the fact that a resetted phone will alwys ask for the last used google account on it (if it was not remove prior to the factory reset, in this case enforced by unlocking the bootloader).
Its basically a security measure!
Hi guys, Android 10 update is out now. Maybe this time this trick will work just like the Mi A1 ? Can anyone confirm it please.

No. I tried today. All it does is showing the bootloader unlock screen to select weather or not to unlock.
