Recovery and eRecovery - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone.
The thing is, I have eRecovery but I don't have Recovery. Is that normal? I've tried all the combinations I know, volume up + power, volume down + power, with cable connected to the computer, without cable. I just have eRecovery and fastboot mode. By the way, I have a rebranded Huawei P10.
Cheers.

Have you rebranded your phone?
I had the same problem after rebranding my phone. I must have jumped over a step without noticing it. I just rebranded my phone again (full hwota process).

Oh, so maybe that is why I don't have the "normal" recovery... I've realised it when I was trying to update with firmware finder and it rebooted to eRecovery -_-

I rebranded my phone (the second time) in C432B180... B185 never came in OTA so I updated via FF. Did the same with B360. I do not know if OTA updates take longer to come to Canada (due to some kind of IMEI check from Huawei maybe).

try to use eRecovery first to get it back to stock firmly.
If it doesn't work, follow exactly what darrr1 said.

hi
i did the rollback from android 7 to 6.
if you install it via dload+force update then you are on c900b300.
It is root necessary for that?

The file is available from my personal website no bull**** hit the link fast download.
https://everwijn.info/Firmware_HuaweiP9_EVA-L09_B136.zip (2,6 gig)
Extract the dload folder from the zip file to youre sdcard on youre phone (no sdcard then phone root)
Hold down at the same time the buttons volume up volume down and power button, youre phone boots, keep it pressed until you see the EMUI logo updating! This take a wile, also after reboot. After that fresh install screen select lanuage etc.
Notice if you have wifi with maccadress security, disable this, the maccadress on youre phone will change after update.
Go to settings, scroll down, select update, hit below the image EMUI update, let it go, it wil auto reboot after downloading. After reboot wait be patient apps wil be updated, and proceed the same step settings update etc.
Repaeat this until no updates available, then go to settings phone info and see 7.0 installed.
See screen dumps:

If you use macadress filter on wifi now you can enable that future, phone mac wil be the same.

Your has device has failed verification

Hi still a newbie so please bare with me.
Have tried s hard reset no joy because it's saying that my P9 your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
This was after updating to 7.0 which worked for about 10 mins then this happened
Any help much appreciated thanks
Dc phonix is good software for all the problems
1. Are you or have you ever been rooted? if yes then see question 2. If no then you have bricked your phone somehow, need to restore using one of the methods described in the various threads in the forum. Download official image, use dload method etc.
2. Does the phone boot to Android? If yes then that message is normal. If no then see question 3
3. You need to restore the original boot image and relock your bootloader. If you don't know how to do either or what any of that means then refer to the alternative answer in question 1 and then stop messing with your phone until you learn how to do literally everything with it using the forum.
I realise that sounds harsh, but it's the truth. Too many people bricking perfectly good phones because they don't care to read or learn before they act.
My suggestion would be to rollback and flash b136 on MM then update.. but ensure u are on C432

Select these three options and go back again. Then again before. Debugging is now off again. Select it again and go back. Then again before and again activate. Now it remains.

That is because is not possible to do.
With the Mi A2, when it boot you have a screen with a question, and if you are pushing a button, then you must push a button again to continue.

Unlocking the bootloader allows to flash anything.
Meaning you could exploit to remove security and then access data for example.
And its somewhat linked to the fact that a resetted phone will alwys ask for the last used google account on it (if it was not remove prior to the factory reset, in this case enforced by unlocking the bootloader).
Its basically a security measure!
Hi guys, Android 10 update is out now. Maybe this time this trick will work just like the Mi A1 ? Can anyone confirm it please.

No, you can't. But may i ask why you want to get C431 to C432?

From what I read C431 is offered by operators as vodafone and that I would not get updates quickly.

As i've told you on PM, C431 is the cust offered in most of the EU countries. The carriers (Vodafone & Orange) are the ones that customise the firmware when you insert their SIM's, even if you bought an C431 cust device from a retailer (happened to some friends of mine on Orange, even if they've bought their phones from eMag).
Telekom & Digi don't have this practice, as per my knowledge.
OTA/HiSuite/eRecovery updates comes in branches depending on SN/IMEI. You can allways bipass Vodafone or Orange waiting time to update by removing the SIM from phone and check for updates using the 3 methods i've mentioned earlier ?

Hi, Silviu.
Taking advantage of this topic. Can I change my firmware: VOG-L29 C605 to C432? Because in the version I'm using the updates never arrive, even with a new update available. The only way to update my p30 is via OTG.

No, don't flash the C432 firmware on your C605 device, it will get a you a nice brick . Flashing another cust on EMUI 10 results a softbricked device. So don't flash, stay on C605 and wait for new updates from Huawei or use the dload firmware from my thread about ROM. ?

??, my mistake, it was without SIM, not SLAM, i corrected my post .
The 3 methods i've mentioned are:
1. OTA (from your phone, check for update using Wi-Fi)
2. HiSuitePC (download HiSuite, connect your phone to it and check for updates)
3. eRecovery update - It doesn't require a cable plugged in and using this method in order to update WON'T wipe your phone data, it's acting like an normal OTA. In order to acces eRecovery, Power OFF your device or Restart it. Press then simultaneously POWER+VOLUME UP and keep them pressed untill you see Huawei on screen. Release the POWER button and keep pressing VOLUME UP untill you are in eRecovery menu, then release button. When in menu, select Update mode, then select eRecovery mode then Update and recover system then Download update and recover. Connect it to Wi-Fi and it should start the update. If it's still the version you're atm, you can hit Cancel and then Restart. If it's a newer version than the one installed, let it download and update. At the end, it will restart to system.
Let me know if you need further assistance

I'll see it when this Covid quarantine ends, i will do some tests when i'll get an S20 Ultra unit on my hands, for 1 week tests. I've seen that it got few updates which improved battery life, camera performance and some other firmware optimisations.
I'll let you know when i'll get on Sammy's threads ?
