Factory wipe and flash recovery image of MIUI in TWRP.
I'm surprised this is asked considering you have more posts and have been here longer than me.

Could you explain exaclty what to do, because if I do wipes (cache data dalvik system) and then install miui, it doesn't work and I have no SO installed message.

If you have encryption enabled, you have to wipe EVERYTHING, including internal storage.

Sorry didn't read the part where you said you got a "No OS installed" message, so you were already able to completely remove cm.
It sounds more like you're using the wrong zip or something, maybe try redownloading the zip ?

Trying unmounting the /system partition before you flash it. Solved it for me anyway.

That's what happens when you wipe system. The issue seems to be that he does not know how to get the ROM zip into internal storage after messing with TWRP wipe.

You might as well just manually wipe data, system and cache in the advanced menu.
Reboot back into TWRP and drag the file into your internal storage to flash. Or you can just adb sideload the rom.
If you're trying to put your ROM in via booting up android, it's not going to work because you've already wiped the system, hence no OS.

It should mount usb by default, at least for me.
If not, go to mount -> mount USB storage to manually mount it.

I used to have a problem with encryption on a MIUI rom, and no matter what I did, flashing only system or anything other than a full wipe including internal storage didn't do anything. Thought he had the same problem

He does have the same problem. However his dilemma now after doing a full wipe is that he does not know how to put stuff in his internal storage without booting into system.

you either put it there while you booted into your current rom. or you sideload it using adb commands or all in one toolkit from bootloader

no. it will only wipe user data, app data, and apps you have installed.
but if this is your first time using 4.2 you should backup your sd card to your computer and after you flash the rom and boot up boot back to recovery and wipe your sd card then reboot and restore backup from computer or you will think it wiped everything but it just moves things around for multiuser support

Hi
I just tried flashing ARHD 20.2 coming from rooted stock 4.1.2 via CWM touch. The rom won't install, halfway through the phone just re-starts. Also whenever I try a factory wipe or data re-format from cwm my phone re-starts immediately. So I have recovery but I can't flash a new ROM.
Have I corrupted my data partition somehow? Is there a way around this? Maybe via a new recovery or kernel? My searches on xda haven't come up with much. Any ideas? Thanks.

HI, thanks for the advice although I don't understand what you want me to do. I guessed you might have meant try going back to stock which I just tried but that didn't work. I do not seem to be able to flash any ROM.
I can enter in and out of CWM recovery but that is it. My phone is formatted and wiped (excepting my suspect data partition???). So I am doing all flashing etc by adb and fastboot.
I tried a TRWP flash over the top of CWM but it only briefly flashes the twrp logo and then restarts the phone, so I have gone back to CWM which at least works.
In my CWM log I see this
I: Can't partition non-vfat: datamedia
I: Can't format unknown volume: /emmc
Any attempt to format data still just restarts the phone.

to add more info to my situation: if I choose the wipe data option in the install of ARHD 20.2 the phone immediately restarts on the commencement of the installation.
If I don't choose the wipe data option the installation seems to fail when it has finished unpacking.

If you've just unlocked the bootloader and never booted a Sony ROM after the fact then you'll not be able to do a simple factory reset, but will need to do a full /data and /data/media (/sdcard) format. So do that first, then flash the zip(s), and then it should boot fine.
wiped full internal storage also tried relock and again unlocked the bootloader but still stuck at bootanmation,

I'm not quite familiar with how open betas work. Are they invite-only? Do we have to do something to get it? or will it be available via OTA and it's up to us to download it? Or do we just flash it?
Can somebody clarify? Thank you

Beta are always invite only. You had to fill the form to be able to receive it over the air. Never the less, if you have an unlocked bootloader, you can just download that build and flash it through TWRP. The latest build has been floating on the internet since its release.

If you’re already running stock China MIUI, you could just dirty flash it. Wiping Data doesn’t wipe your Internal Storage. Backup beforehand incase something goes wrong.

Just copy your important stuff from Internal storage to PC. Flash the MIUI beta followed by a Cache, Dalvik wipe. Reboot. If you rather want it clean, go back to stock recovery after first MIUI 11 boot and wipe data. That should suffice for a clean restore.
PS: Stock Recovery would overwrite your custom TWRP on boot so incase you need that, you’ll have to flash it again.
