Recently I was having problems with the rom on my kindle so I decided I wanted to restore a previous backup I had made before installing the rom. I rebooted into twrp and then without really thinking I clicked restore thinking it meant restore my backup. After I did that I tried to boot back into my os but it said no os installed. I've tried to plug it into my computer but my computer won't let me access my kindle's files. I've looked at lots of youtube videos and other threads but I can't find out how to fix it. Please help because I really want to be back on my kindle fire again.

At some point i had my kindle fire rooted with a jelly bean rom, with twrp recovery installed. I wanted to get rid of my fire, so i decided it was time to go back to the stock rom. In my infinite wisdom, I ended up wiping my factory backup by mistake. I went onto the kindle update site and downloaded the latest official version 6.3 bin file. I then renamed the .bin to .zip and updated it through twrp. When my kindle restarted, the factory OS came up, except I started getting android.acore errors along with another calendar process error. If that wasn't bad enough, it now randomly reboots whenever it feels like it. Luckily I can still usb mount it to my pc and can copy files back and forth. I tried using the kindle fire utility to root it again and install twrp, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Pretty sure you're in the wrong forum - this is for the KF HD, not the original Fire.

oops, my bad. Thanks for the heads up.
I recently decided to restore my rooted Kindle Fire HD 7." The kindle starts just fine, and displays the normal kindle fire boot screen. However, instead of the usual Amazon start-up and device registration screen, it gave me the default Android startup. However, everytime I hit start, the setup wizard ends up crashing. I had the Google Play store installed before the unroot. I have not messed around with custom roms, or anything like that. Windows sees the Kindle just fine, however it doesn't register under ADB. Is there anything I can do? I do not have a factory cable, nor can I find where to get one.

Also, the device doesn't show up when I try fastboot.
The problem with my kindle fire hd is that when I turn it on it first boots up normally but then it goes to a screen that says "Kindle Fire System Recovery. Your Kindle doesn't seem to be able to boot. Reseting your device to Factory defaults may help fix this issue." I have a factory cable and I have the driver set up on my computer. I just don't know what to download and what to do. Also I would like to know if I can recover the data that's on it because that's the reason why I'm trying make it work.
I'm sorry if there's already a thread about this. I'm new and I don't where it would be.

What did you do to it? And you can use the Kindle Fire First Aid to go completely stock.

I didn't do anything to it. I just used it normally and it wouldn't start. I never tried to root it or anything before it acted up. Completely stock? What does that mean? How do I use Kindle Fire First Aid? I'm sorry I have no idea what I'm doing. XD I thought I was tech savvy but I feel like a baby trying to learn this.
So i'm very new to root and i'm kicking myself for doing what I did and i'm really hoping someone can help me out. So long story short in titanium backup I turned all my launchers even the default one into user applications, and now its stuck in an endless boot. And please be noob friendly as possible I almost know nothing about android and barley successfully rooted in the first place. Thanks
(Kindle Fire HD 2012 Model)
Did you install twrp or cwm yet? (Recovery) if not you will probably need a fast boot cable and then reinstall the ROM. Very different routes.

Boot Loop
Hello...Just rooted my KF HD and am now stuck in a boot loop. I was able to obtain root and boot into recovery. I was taking a back up before installing a Jelly Bean ROM. When I tried to take the back up, said there was not enough memory, so I did a backup without data. I did a full wipe, cache and davlik cache and when I tried to install the ROM zip file, got a message it could not open the zip. So, I restored from my back up and now all I get is the regular Kindle FIre logo over and over. I tried to connect via adb, but it does not stay on long enough for me to send any commands, my PC does not recognize it. Any help or suggestions? Just wanted to put a good stable ROM on it so the kids can have sometime more reliable than what Amazon provided. Any help is appreciated.
BTW...if I remember correctly, my serial number started with D025. Thanks.
Hey Everyone!
thank you for your time in advance for reading this post.
I recently deiced to root my kindle hd7 (9th gen - mustang) and put on TWRP recovery and also flash LineageOS14.1.
I finally got it all up and running the way I want it and decided that it would be good that I make a backup of it.
I remember from years ago when i have rooted a phone and installed TWRP, I was able to make backups and restore them via the recovery.
On this tablet however, in TWRP it is not showing either button. I have also attached a picture of what it looks like.
Can anyone help me in getting those buttons to appear so that I can make a backup?
One thing to note, while in TWRP, I can not see any EXTERNAL sdcard which is VERY strange.
Also to note, I have a second Kindle HD7 9th gen and I also rooted it and I put on TWRP on it. This one I followed the instructions for putting on Stock Kindle software and it too never showed these buttons either.
Thanks again and I can't thank you enough for your help!
I found the answer. Install TWRP 3.3.1-0. It will now recognize the SDCARD properly and also show you the backup and restore buttons!
