Hi xda
Been running my Mi5 for a while now, and loving CM13, but I am having an issue with charging from anything by the OEM USB charger.
When I use any other wall-plug charger (HTC, Sony, Surface Pro4 Brick) the phone will begin to rapidly switch between charging and non-charging states.
This happened with the stock MIUI, and now CM13, as well as in bootloader, recovery and when the phone is off.
I had heard that this can can be an issue with the OEM cable, but have now repeated all my results with a 3rd party cable.
Sometimes a similar issue occurs when connected to a PC, with constant disconnect/reconnect (Around once a second), or otherwise I only get 'slowly charging'.
Strangely, the only device which can charge my Mi5 at a steady, consistent, rate is my Juiced power brick (so long as its the only device connected) http://www.juicedsystems.com/24000mAh-External-Portable-Battery-Charger_p_31.html.
Any ideas?

I suppose the charger you have problems with are the one's with less then 1Ampere.
Try using a 2Ampere charger, that works great for me.
Hmm, both are rated at 1.5, but I'll see what I can find. Thanks

HI all,
C6903 would previously charge using an official Sony dock cord. Yesterday, however, the phone started making the 'phone flat' beepjng noise (it was close to flat), so plugged into the dock to charge. The beeping continued every few seconds, the screen rotation started playing up (I do have a screen rotation lock that hasn't been a problem) and the phone won't fully charge (the charge symbol is there, just keeps dropping. The error message "the connected power source is not sufficient. The battery is draining faster than it is charging. Minimise device usage while charging" popped up. It does charge VERY slowly if the phone is off airplane mode and the screen is off (it charged approx 30% in 10 hours, this way).
No rogue apps, etc. I reset to factory settings and the problem is still there. Phone charges fine using standard micro-usb.
Here in the NL, the carrier (KPN) send your phone away for minimum 2 weeks (& will not give you a replacement), and they will likely just test with the standard USB charger, which is fine.
Anyone experienced this & any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam
sounds like the cable is faulty, probably only one way to find out if you know someone with a dock - or just send the dock back to were you purchased it declaring it faulty
I've had similar issues, I solved it by rebooting the phone and plugging it in using sony usb charger until the charge is over 30%, after I got mine to 30% using usb, it then was able to charge using the dock.
you could check the dock with a multimeter, but there's not really much to the dock itself, so unless it's a broken wire, the problem is with the wall charger which the docks plugged into or the phone
Thanks all. I will check if it is the dock/cable or the power plug when my wife gets home - she also has the Z1.
Thanks again, will keep updated.
Adam
Yeah, sadly the cables don't last too long - went through 2 cables up until now and many more to come.
For some reason (since lollipop cm12 nightly 20150121, currently on DStrikerz 4.7 stock-based ROM) my phone takes a while to recognised that the charger is plugged in ( an average of 1-2, sometimes not at all, sometimes longer and/or sometimes it randomly stop charging in the middle of charging).
This is what I have done:
I have done a clean flash by going to CM11 (not CM12) back to Dstriker ROM thinking some residual code may have stayed from Lollipop CM12 (cause it had slow charging issues, reported by many), but issue still persists.
I have tried different Power Bricks. I get 700-850mA from iPad charger with 2.4A (2400mA) output with stock cable. I get 200-300mA on a brick with 400mA output.
I have yet to fully verify this but I have had no problems with the other bricks (still need time)
(End of What I have done)
Now my question is that:
Is the lower mA normal when charging?
Do I have issues with my charging port (had charging port issues on previous phone which is Sammy GS2) or is it the brick and/or cable?
How long does it take for your phone battery percentage to go up 1% on average (mine is 1.5 - 5min average) ?
Any other software solutions you can suggest? (Optional)
Can you post a screenshot of the mA of your battery while charging so I can compare? (Optional)
Look at the screenshot at the bottom.

My phone has stock rom, and i used to have the problem of phone immediately not starting to charge...
I found out that the stock cable was loose when connecting, so i started using the cable of my older xperia u, which works fine
Have you tried turning off the phone and then charging?
Because sometimes the kernel gets moody and all that, i had these problems on my xperia u, and i then used to power off and then leave it on charging for some time

That's for the reply I just found the problem. It was the plug. My friend connected it to his GS3 for 1 hour and it only charged 3%. I've tried other charging plugs with stock cable as well for the past night and didn't have any problem. So I might have to replace or fix the plug myself.
test again try to start charge when the battery is at 20% and see if it still 300-400 mah so u may have to get a new cable or to get new charger also maybe the plug
the charging from 90 to 100 is usualy slow comparing from start to 90
test and tell

I checked too, my mobile also had around 400-500mA too, although it is charging and behaving normally

Interesting. I pushed the USB connection on the plug upwards (seen attachment) and it started charging properly at 700-900mA until 90% where it was 300-400mA, compared to the 300-500mA no matter what battery % I had left.
Charging was much quicker.
I remember doing the same on the GS2 charging port and phone charged properly.
I guess its something to do with no reenforcement at the top of the port. Both S2 micro USB port and Z1 USB charger plug port have no reenforcement at top. Think this is a design flaw.

Maybe, but my mobile also get fully charge in about 2 hrs max, and when i once checked this app about current, it was showing around 400-500mA at about 48%, although the mobile didnt take time to charge, maybe at that instance the current was that?
Hi everyone, so my issue I currently have with my Nexus 6 is as follows:
Device Details: Nexus 6, rooted, running CM13, Xposed Framework installed
Charging from USB: shows "charging slowly" message on lockscreen. Ampere shows an average of about 200mA, regardless of type of charger. Tried several QuickCharger adapters and a regular adapter, as well as several different cables to the same result. When connecting to a PC via USB, it shows the same charging power, however my laptop is not recognizing that the device has been plugged in.
Charging Wirelessly: charges normal as it always had, showing a average of about 500-700mA.
The issue occurred suddenly while I was out hiking and attempting to charge via a QuickCharge capable portable battery. The previous day it was charging as it always has.
All signs point to a damaged micro USB port on my Nexus 6, but wondering if there could be any other possible causes. I'm hesitant to try a factory reset to troubleshoot it as a software issue since I have no way of connecting it to my PC to re-root and re-flash CM if that doesn't fix the issue.
If it is the micro USB port as I think, any suggestions on how to remedy this? I'm used to using my device heavily everyday and charging it with a QuickCharger as needed, so this slow charging is a significant issue right now.
Thanks for any help!
your phone charges at differing speeds at differing parts of its charging cycle. and on top of that, charging via usb instead of wall charger will carge your phone at a much slower rate. that said, we also have a "usb fastcharge" option included in many kernels/custom roms. but you also have to know that fastcharge doesnt work with every usb port that you can plug into. it only will work with certain usb ports.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. When I said "Charging via USB" I just mean through the phone's microUSB port. Regardless of whether it was plugged into a wall charger(with or without QuickCharge 2.0) or my laptop or a portable battery, or a QuickCharge car charger, I was getting the same charge rate and message showing "charging slowly", much slower than wireless charge rate which showed the normal "charging" message. The Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 using the provided Motorola Supercharger or my QuickCharge 2.0 capable portable battery has always worked great prior to this issue.

ok, because the included "fastcharge" is only for usb charging. but regular charging still depends on where in the charging cycle you were. for example, at 92 itll charge at a much slower rate than at 50. what battery percent where you at when you noticed?

Initially very low, under 15%. Was attempting to charge with a QC2.0 portable battery, but the device was draining quicker than it was charging. When I got home, I attempted the Motorola "Turbocharger" wall charger and got the same rate. So I put it on the wireless charger, and as it charged, I kept testing the wall charger every 20% or so, getting the same slow charge rate.
The bottom line is really that the Wireless Qi charging is functioning properly as it always has, but any "plugged-in" type charging is charging at an extremely slow rate, no matter what type of charger, no matter what % the battery is at.

odd! it could be a software issue or just a derp. have you tried rebooting? im one of the few that i know with a broken usb on my n6. and it charges slower. it used to charge at about 2400mV, now it charges at 800mV max. now that its completely broken, i cant charge it via a usb anymore, now i charge it wirelessly, which is at about 800mV max as well. anyways, try a reboot, or reflashing your software first, before doing anything extreme.

Yea I've tried rebooting like 20 times lol. Also tried doing a CM nightly software update. I'll see if reflashing will do the trick. Any suggestion on reflashing from the device? I've always used Nexus Root Toolkit and did it from my PC.
If that doesn't work, guess I'm stuck with wireless charging too. Thanks for your help!

you can flash cm via twrp recovery on your phone, without a computer. oh, and my work buddies are still in shock that my n6 wirelessly charges.. they both have iphone 6s
I really do not know where to begin or even explain the issue I am currently facing. I do know that it is extremely irritating and completely destroys any faith I have in future OnePlus products. I have been with Android since the beginning and never had I have an issue with any phone. Here's the issue: currently I am using stock 4.1.6 rom, but earlier (as in the last 5 hours) I was using the latest update (OB11). At first I figured the issue was related to the latest firmware, so I switched between roms then quickly realized it couldn't be a rom, so I continued to try different firmwares: OB8, OB9, OB10, OB4.1.6, and OB11. The issue I am having is very hard to detail unless you are actually looking at the phone itself, but I keep getting a blinking red notification light when the phone is plugged into the stock power supply unit (aka - receptable dash charging block). I have tried using a car charger with the same results, but less frequent. I believe the issue may actually be the block itself. However, I have tried plugging up directly to a laptop and still get weird results. The phone will connect to the laptop, but will not charge or sometimes you'll see the lighting bolt, but the phone itself will not go into a charging mood. Now i have read that the batteries supplied with the phone are somewhat crappy. Im asking to see if anyone out there has had issues when trying to charge their phone. I have also noticed that the phone no longer says fast charging or dash charging. I honestly can not remember what it says. It doesn't seem to charge quick at all. It makes no sense to me. I'm pretty sure it's not a software issue as I have literally tried every current rom available.
Could it be damage to the USB connector on the phone? Sounds as if the data + and/or - cable doesn't connect which makes it impossible for the phone to check wither the charger is a dash charger or not causing the red blinking, I dunno but maybe. I suppose you've tried also with another cable as you did try another charger.
It was the charging block. My dog had pissed on the damn charger, which shorted out the circuitry. Right now I'm using an iPhone charging block with original USB-C cord. There is no dash charging, but I don't have any other issues with blinking red light.

Hey Friends,
I have noticed this on my pixel 5 , it will make random charging sound when already plugged in to charger. I hear this charging sound randomly at no specific time interval. Tried to toggle the connector ends , still the same. Just wondering if i'm alone here ?
Thanks
I haven't noticed this (had the phone a little over a week) but I'll keep an ear out for it!
I have this almost every second on my 5 port Aukey charger (does not support PD).
Saw some comments on Reddit with similar issue (also on multiport charger).
On official charger it practically does not occur for me (had it once or twice when using the phone while charging, but it could be also from cable getting loose while moving).
There some posts on official Pixel support forums about similar issues too, though people rarely mentioned what charger they used.
Hi,
I observe this too sometimes. Happened to me twice with the provided charger from the box - it feels like it's more probable to happen if I have the phone already connected to the cable when the charger is plugged in. Also have observed this when charging from my PC under certain conditions (i.e. PC off, mobile plugged in to charge, then turning on PC, mobile goes crazy). Appears to me that the USB "connection" is reset every second but haven't investigated further.
I just bought new USB-C cable that was marked as USB Power Delivery compatible and so far the problem is gone even on the 5 port charger.
Seems like they removed code responsible for handling such edge cases.

Good to hear that , I haven't got the fix yet , I still hear random charging sound twice or thrice during every charge, hopefully it's a software fix.
