I have a galaxy s6 for tmobile. I have been using it fine for a while but the other day it gave me an error saying no sim card is inserted. I had a spare sim card and tried that one with no luck. I tried both sim cards in a different phone and worked with no problem. I have read about people dropping the phone and having sim card issues but thats not the case phone was not dropped. I noticed the sim card issue when i took it out my pocket to send a message and was not able to. the only thing i can think of is the sim card reader is shot some how?
I was wondering if there any other options for me to check before i go and get a new sim reader soldered in?
thanks in advance

I have a at&t 8925 that dropped a few times, i am not sure if the probLem occured directly after the drop but i know that the phone is no longer recognising my sim card, what should i do to rectify the problem?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Remove and insert your SIM again, maybe try another one?
I was able to sort out the sim card problem, i pulled up the phone and cleaned the sim card cable and it worked fine when i reasembled it.
I'm having a really weird problem with my XDA Stellar, worked fine for over a year and then suddenly it said No SIM inserted.
Took the SIM out, tried it in another phone - it worked ok.
Used a different SIM in my Stellar - it worked.
Put the original SIM back in - no sim card inserted!
Contacted o2 for a replacement SIM
Inserted and it worked - hurray, for about 24 hours!
Now its back to saying no SIM inserted and as before the SIM works in other phones and other SIMs work in the Stellar.
Anyone any ideas what's going on!
Try cleaning the sim card contacts with a rubber & also try putting a bit of paper/thin cardboard behind the sim so it is pushed onto the contacts in the sim holder better.
Have some threads on this, bit of a known issue.
Do a search if you want more details.
Ahh, many thanks Mister B, the piece of paper did the trick!
Well I bought Nexus 5. Because of that I had to get a Micro SIM card to fit in it.
I bought another Micro -to- Normal SIM adapter. Like an external Jacket so that I can use the same SIM in my SGS Advance.
Now, because of the SIM holder design, the terminals might have gotten a little worn out due to inserting and removing the SIM card.
But What I dont understand is, it was working fine until suddenly my SGS Advance stopped recognising my SIM card.
Ok.
So I tried other SIM cards. Still the same result. Mind you, the phone was recognising the SIM Card(s) before it was stopped recognising.
Cause for it :
1.physical damage
well I dont think so cause I dont see if there are any terminals missing or something out of place or anything that has fallen off.
2.Software issue.
Please help me. And yeah Phones outta warranty period running 2.3.6 & yeah thats about it. Please see image below. Top notification bar just right of the mid line, symbol that no SIM card is inserted.
I was overseas travelling and used some different sim cards no problem. But on return, I put my original sim card in, and the xperia z says "sim card inserted, restarting" and restarts, only to display the "no sim card" icon. I've tried a lot of things, and got a new sim card from my carrier because I thought that one might have been broke because I didn't use it in a while, but the new one has the same problem.
I really hope it's not a hardware issue, the phone is older than 1yr, and I didn't buy it in this country. I suspect that it might not be, since it was working fine until I swapped sim cards. Could this be a firmware issue? Any suggestions?
[Edit] It might be worth mentioning that I did a firmware upgrade while overseas without my original sim in.
Hi guys,
I just ran into a weird issue with my S8. I dropped it, no visual damage (it's in a case with tempered glass on it) but now it doesn't see the sim card that was in the phone. However putting another sim card DOES work! Putting my old sim back in and removing the SD card ALSO works, but not my old sim with SD card together.......
What might be the issue here? SD card together with another sim works but not SD card with old sim. But old sim works if it's the only thing in the tray (no SD card).
This is really stupid. I went to my service provider, picket up another sim card with same number and yes my phone works again WITH SD card.......
What's the deal here??
