Well I bought Nexus 5. Because of that I had to get a Micro SIM card to fit in it.
I bought another Micro -to- Normal SIM adapter. Like an external Jacket so that I can use the same SIM in my SGS Advance.
Now, because of the SIM holder design, the terminals might have gotten a little worn out due to inserting and removing the SIM card.
But What I dont understand is, it was working fine until suddenly my SGS Advance stopped recognising my SIM card.
Ok.
So I tried other SIM cards. Still the same result. Mind you, the phone was recognising the SIM Card(s) before it was stopped recognising.
Cause for it :
1.physical damage
well I dont think so cause I dont see if there are any terminals missing or something out of place or anything that has fallen off.
2.Software issue.
Please help me. And yeah Phones outta warranty period running 2.3.6 & yeah thats about it. Please see image below. Top notification bar just right of the mid line, symbol that no SIM card is inserted.

I've recently been experiencing a problem with my SIM card no longer being detected by my phone. I tried putting my SIM in my daughter's phone and it worked fine. I also recently flashed the SPL with HardSPL 3.56. Could this be the potential cause of what caused my phone to quit accepting the SIM card? Is there any way to fix this or is my phone now completely bricked?
" I tried putting my SIM in my daughter's phone and it worked fine. "
the troubleshooting path would be to do the reverse and if that also don't
work it's a hardware issue with the sim card connector

Or the flexible cable is broken, my case with same phenomina end up with that.
I had the same problem in my kaiser. One of my sim cards, works perfectly. The other one dont. I solved this problem by putting a little papper between de sim card and the upper part of the support to make some pressure to the contacts. It worked. Now all sim cards works great
My Tilt I have to wedge a little piece of 28lb paper between the SIM card and the top of the SIM card housing. That pushes it down just enough to be recognized.
had same sitiuation
On my kaiser I had on: wifi, bluetooth, data connection, and GPS all while using wifirouter and listening music thru bluetooth stereo headphones all from my kaiser. It got hot and after an hour the sim card lost connection, after several attemts I figured the sim card melted a little bit and looked like this ( so there was no contact. So I took my wife's hair dryer and heated up and flexed it back. Works great, just don't over heat it, do it so you can flex it and hold it in that position till it cools off.

umm your service is disconnected?????
no,its not reading the card slot at all
This may be a stupid question- is the SIM card in the proper way? When did this start? What changed? Did you drop the phone?

When I first bought my Tilt used, I had the same problem. I had to stick a tiny part of a post-it to the back of my SIM and shove it in there. It's like my SIM wasn't thick enough.
The best way - to try with another SIM (maybe your friends have a mobile-phone )
Sometimes the old SIMs don't want to work with modern devices....
well heres my 2 cents as i just fixed it, my issue at first i thought it was the sim slot (replaced...) then found out the ribbon was damaged a crack occured, after another week of waiting for a package (today) i replaced it and now its running fine
Same here
My Sim was no longer available.
Kaiser had "sim card is missing", but the sim was in there.
I disassebled it and found that the main flex cable was damaged.
Now I'm waiting for replacement.
So, When the phone shows up "sim missing" it's an flex cable matter not the sim card flex or the sim card unit.
same problem here
I'm having the same problem here. thought that it was the flex cable of the sim, but when I disassambled the Kaiser I found out that the main cable was slightly scrached from a corner, and the sim's cable was there pluged well... I'm trying to fix it..gonna post the result for "sim card failure"...
So, just after the first day I got my Xperia T, the SIM tray was broken. I noticed my device having random reboots, then telling me there's no SIM card inserted. It took me some time, but then I noticed that whenever I insert my SIM card and close the tray, it just pops right out again. First I thought that maybe my SIM card was the problem, since I'm using a Nano-SIM with an adapter, so I tried with a regular Micro-SIM instead, but that didn't work either.
Right now my device is in repair and as I can tell from the repair status, they replaced the whole mainboard, which hopefully solved the problem.
Is anyone else having issues like that?
Same here, I had to put several layers of adhesive tape over the microsim to fatten and then lock it into the tray. Nasty, but working.
Same for me, but with 2 layers of post-it, it works.
Bad cut simcard or not perfect adapter is problem. Them simple brake a tray. Then good ones doesn't work either.
Use proper SIM card from first time.
Had the same problem - is it possible to replace only sim tray or is necessary to replace the whole mainboard?
Since yesterday my phone can't detect both my Sim card. It said no Sim inserted. All the while is working fine. Any solution on this? I'm not using sim adapter. I changed already 2 different Sim card and mostly i only got message new sim card inserted Restart to take effect. But after bit completed it still no Sim detected.
The SIM-slots of the Moto G are a very weak part of the phone, I had problems from the very first day to insert the cards correctly. After a short time the one slot doesn´t snap the card into place anymore, the whole construction is not build precise.
I had a few issues in not detecting the SIM card, after all I sticked a piece of thin plastic (or paper) on the top of the SIM´s to be certain that they stay tight at their places and if I´ve found the exact position everything works. So in my case it was a mechanical problem.
I have a galaxy s6 for tmobile. I have been using it fine for a while but the other day it gave me an error saying no sim card is inserted. I had a spare sim card and tried that one with no luck. I tried both sim cards in a different phone and worked with no problem. I have read about people dropping the phone and having sim card issues but thats not the case phone was not dropped. I noticed the sim card issue when i took it out my pocket to send a message and was not able to. the only thing i can think of is the sim card reader is shot some how?
I was wondering if there any other options for me to check before i go and get a new sim reader soldered in?
thanks in advance
