this is not a repeated topic
i searched all the web for solution but i couldn't find any
my At&t tilt is unlocked it works perfectly for short time ever few resets
else, it give the message "the sim card is missing" you can srtill make emergency calls if your provider supports it
i tried every thing, unlocker, hard spl, all the tools herebut nothing worked
can any body help?
Any chance the SIM is loose in its mounting?
It looks to me like there is a bit is wiggle space in the SIM slot.
did you try another SIM card?

One of my kaisers uses an old sim where a layer of laminate had been peeling away. This meant that when I inserted the sim, the loose laminate folded back on itself and acted as an insulator between the brass phone and sim contacts. So I removed the offending laminate but still had the occasional "no sim installed". The problem was that the sim was now a little thinner. I applied pressure to the centre of the metal belt that holds the sim in place ensuring that the contacts were "always together" and have not had any problem since.
I hope this simple solution works for you.

J
ANother thing you can try is rubbing the gold portion of the SIM card on your jeans or clean it off with a pencil eraser. I had that problem, and it stemmed from a little corrosion or crud building up on the face of the SIM card, and by rubbing it on my jeans it cleaned the corrosion off and the sim was able to make good contact with the points in the card slot.
Sometimes sim cards go bad. I've had about half a dozen go bad out of about 40 devices that I have supported over the last couple of years. AT&T acts like it's a common occurence and no big deal. I just take the device to one of their storefronts and they replace it immediately.

Did you try unplugging the battery, put the sim card and then reinsert the battery and start?

hey just wanted to say thanks. i just added a piece of paper between the card and the metal part and it worked. just wanted to say thanks.
I had the very same problem today after putting a brand new sim in the phone.
Found that I had put the damn sim in the wrong way round. Oops.
I had the exact same problem and in my case, putting a piece of paper in did not help at all. I had to get a brand new sim card.
i had a similar problem. it couldn't read my sim card, but read my gf's tmobile sim card and her phone read my sim card fine. then i next day i took it to an ATT shop, asked for a new sim card and it worked perfectly fine now. even the guy from the shop couldn't tell me what is the problem, he said, it happens every now and then.
Help,
No matter what radio or rom i flash it wont read the sim card. I've tried a few different sims by different providers and none of them work. This problem started when.. It would only work on 1 network (T-Mobile) even though i had hard SPL unlocked it and flashed a custom rom and radio. I then tried the CID unlocker and when i read the CID it said TMOB001 so i changed it to 00000000 reset the phone and now it doesn't pickup any sim. If i changed the CID back to TMOB001 would it then start to only pickup the t mobile sim as id rather have a phone on t mobile than no phone.
I recently experienced the same problem. I corrected it by placing a small piece of folded paper between the sim and the cage that surrounds it. The thicker the paper the more pressure on the sim. My situation was odd because my wifes sim would work in it but neither mine nor sons would work. All are on Tmo. My problem occured after i had the sim out for a flash so my mind was convinced it was a bug in the rom but it wasnt.
hope it helps
You should check all 8 pins, that they are up waiting to be pushed down by the sim.
I had one that had dropped down, So I had to take the phone apart and remove the sim holder to solder it back in place.
The sim holder is a removable plug in item so you could order a new one if needed.
Worked, sneaky piece of paper behind the sim lid and it worked! Thankyou for the posts!!!
RECAP
If your Kaiser no longer recognizes the sim card try a piece of paper under the closing lid or the sim holder
hi guys.
i have big problem with my kaiser sim card. probaly the sim card slot cant read the sims. in the past 2 days i can fix this problem. i change rom, radio, hard reset and tried 2 different sims without success.

what is my next step?
thanks
It wounds like your ribbon cable is wearing out.. That is was the first sign on my sons Tilt....
Is there a way of replacing that ribbon? I guess mine is starting to wear out too!!
i´m taking same problem, my Kaiser is shuting my sim card each month aproximately, I clonned the sim five times, I reflashed from the original rom to another with the hope to solve it but problem stills there, my kaiser ****s to my sim in a month or two...
Any solution?
Now I make bigger my problem, I cracked the touch digitizer and I must to disassemble it, may be the problem is soled when i clean parts inside, I work as industrial Electrician and dust is floating around in my work
Well I bought Nexus 5. Because of that I had to get a Micro SIM card to fit in it.
I bought another Micro -to- Normal SIM adapter. Like an external Jacket so that I can use the same SIM in my SGS Advance.
Now, because of the SIM holder design, the terminals might have gotten a little worn out due to inserting and removing the SIM card.
But What I dont understand is, it was working fine until suddenly my SGS Advance stopped recognising my SIM card.
Ok.
So I tried other SIM cards. Still the same result. Mind you, the phone was recognising the SIM Card(s) before it was stopped recognising.
Cause for it :
1.physical damage
well I dont think so cause I dont see if there are any terminals missing or something out of place or anything that has fallen off.
2.Software issue.
Please help me. And yeah Phones outta warranty period running 2.3.6 & yeah thats about it. Please see image below. Top notification bar just right of the mid line, symbol that no SIM card is inserted.
Since yesterday my phone can't detect both my Sim card. It said no Sim inserted. All the while is working fine. Any solution on this? I'm not using sim adapter. I changed already 2 different Sim card and mostly i only got message new sim card inserted Restart to take effect. But after bit completed it still no Sim detected.
The SIM-slots of the Moto G are a very weak part of the phone, I had problems from the very first day to insert the cards correctly. After a short time the one slot doesn´t snap the card into place anymore, the whole construction is not build precise.
I had a few issues in not detecting the SIM card, after all I sticked a piece of thin plastic (or paper) on the top of the SIM´s to be certain that they stay tight at their places and if I´ve found the exact position everything works. So in my case it was a mechanical problem.
