Huawei P9 - NFC not working - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hello
I've got problem with my P9.
I can't send anything with NFC
I tried with various smartphones. Wit P9 Lite, Galaxy S7...
It's not working. Have I set it somehow, except of turn it on?
I got Official B182 Rom from huawei.
Anyone, anything?

Hi,
I used it a couple of times to pair with earphones...
It worked fine for me both times...when I eventually managed to find the places on the phone and earphones that needed to be close.

The NFC on the P9 is located on top of the back (the part not aluminium, opposite of the 2 cameras)

Yes this is true, I forgot about that from my research when I got this phone.
GSM Arena lists below in the specs:
NFC Yes (EVA-L09 only)
And is confirmed on official website here (press show technical specs) :
http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-phones/p9/index.html

Yes true, but I have a 32 GB single sim version which support NFC.

Just bought a Huawei P9 Plus - but no NFC nor force touch ??

First off - the camera app (which is why I bought it) and aperture mode is awesome. Also the hardware is so sick visually.
My issues - it seems my model of the P9 Plus does NOT have Force touch nor NFC. Per the Huawei website it should. These were the big biggest reasons for me to buy the plus over the P9. And NFC is a deal breaker long term.
Also I have a lot of Chinese (Mandarin, or whatever it is) on mine still. I think I was led to believe it would be entirely in English after changing the system language.
Those are my main issues right now. Where did I go wrong?
Model = VIE-AL10.
AL10 is the Chinese version and has no NFC, force touch is only available in the high end 128GB version.

Crap. I just read that elsewhere. Not good. It seems I need to find an intl model with NFC and force touch in white. If possible.

P10 vs Mate 9

Which one is a better option?
- If you are a heavy camera user (esp. low-light without flash): P10 plus (plus model only, due to better camera assembly)
- If you need the best battery run time: Mate 9 (4000 mAh vs 3200mAh9
- If you want the heavy-multitasking 6GB RAM model or more internal storage space, then: Mate 9 6GB/128GB China model (or 6GB/128GB p10 Plus model)

Yes. I just wish P10plus would be available soon
I have the P10 and Mate 9 and have to say the battery on the P10 is performing as well as the Mate 9. Now this isn't a scientific test, and I've got two SIM cards in the Mate 9 and just one in the P10 - but it could be down to a number of things (like the smaller screen).
The P10 doesn't have the extra microphones, nor do you have the audio playing from the earpiece, but otherwise they're pretty much the same in day to day use.
I wasn't a fan of the fingerprint sensor on the front, but it has grown on me. I even use it with the single tap for back, hold for home and swipe for recent apps - although you can turn that off if you want the old-school on-screen icons.
I managed to get a pretty decent case from Amazon that means I no longer have to worry about accidental screen presses simply to hold the phone without dropping it!

Wow, how did you get hold of a P10 already. Also my main question is how loud is the p10 in headphones, huawei phones are generally low volume in headphones and this is what put me off getting the p9 plus
I'll try the headphones later. I got the phone at their launch event at MWC.

Android Auto - Xiaomi problem

Hi guys. I've just bought my new car (European Ford Focus), able to run Android Auto, but I have problems with my also new Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro (ROM: global stable, rooted).
I've installed AA on the smartphone, but simply my car doesn't recognize it, and the problem is the smartphone because with my friend's smartphone (S7 and Honor 6X) work great. Anyone with similar problem? Is there anything to do to make AA work with Xiaomi?
Thanks

Is simple, buy a phone that is full compatible.

I had the same problem with an oneplus one, rooted, resurrection remix, Ford Focus 2016. I tried 6 or 7 different cables without success. My wifes Xperia Z, rooted, resurrection remix makes no problems, it connects with every cable to android auto.
Finally i tried a 4 years old Samsung cable...thin as a hair...from a tablet. And simsalabim! This 1m cable is the only one i can use with my oneplus one! I read a lot about these connection issues. No one can tell you, why one cable works and the other not.
Someone solves his connection problems with an "anker powerline+ 30cm" cable. I didn't try that.

Is there somewhere a list of known-working phones (in the 50 to 100€ price range)?
I already have two that don't (an homtom ht7 pro and a doogee f5, both with a mediatek chipset) and I though of buying a xiaomi 4a or 4x (with a snapdragon which, hopefully, should have better support) but I see here it has problems too.

P20 Pro New owner?

Hi i am on the fence on whether i should purchase a p20 pro I have always been a clean android software guy used Oneplus , Pixel even custom roms on a redmi phone. How does this phone compare ? And has anyone come from similar situation from clean stock android to p20 pro .
i've come from pixel xl 128gb pure stock to huawei p20 pro - the phone is brilliant, but there are so many variants out there and if in uk and get the c782 version we seem to be getting left behind in regards to the updates
I've come from a sony, which is very close to the pixel, and I got used to very fast. What I like is that it has many features which the stock android doesn't have.

Most UK resellers will supply the C782 model even if sim free. This is then updated by the carrier of whichever sim you first insert. Three will also update boot animation so you have their big logo on it.
A lot of users (myself included) have the C782 model.

This is what I was lead to believe however, I have a Vodafone contract through a 3rd party provider.
My c782 is still on .110 but I have read on the Vodafone forums that their devices have been updated to .128 over 2 weeks ago [emoji19]

Yes, apologies I have since found out that Vodafone appear to be issuing the European model.

If you're a pure android person, as in Pixel / Pixel 2, this phone will be pretty stuttery to you and the lack of updates will frustrate. I am on April 1 security patch, and Instagram which is the main app I use, is quite laggy graphically.
Aside from the lack of updates, crap selfie camera and stuttery performance in some apps, the phone is top of the pile right now.
The speakers, screen, camera, and speed of the phone are top notch .

Hi, my wife just got this phone and I'm tempted too. I saw your comment and she has c782.
Do you know if you root and flash a custom ROM do you get regular updates then ?
if she has only just got it, then she will need to pay to get it unlocked (there is thread on this) as huawei no longer provide unlock codes.
you will need to rebrand the phone to C432 model to be able to get the updates, if you leave on C782 then you are reliant on the network operators and huawei to decide when we will receive updates

who do the updates come from if it's not Huawei? google directly?
no, the updates come from huawei but the network operators have to authorise its release
Hi guys, I’m jumping in on this thread as I’m seriously considering a P20 Pro.
I’m thinking of buying from John Lewis in the U.K. and I’m on BT Mobile as my provider - does anyone have any experience with the updates or as to what model of phone i would get if buying from John Lewis?
Also, how are you guys finding the battery life on the P20 Pro?

Battery life is amazing and if i was you i would ask if the p20 pro is unlocked and non branded otherwise you have to wait for the carrier updates, which are so damn slow. I came from a oneplus 6 and im happy that i bought the p20 pro less then 2 weeks ago and this phone is just the best.

Thanks for the reply. I just need to see the P20 so I can get an idea of the physical size of it. I’ve been using this iPhone 6s for so long that I’m guessing anything bigger is going to really feel massive.

Ha, yea its pretty huge if you come from a iPhone but its still awesome due to 1 hand mode or using the home button to navigate the phone, which i use currently.

Well, the Oneplus 6 isn't bad and software wise its one of the fastest phones you can get right now besides the pixels but.... i didn't like the camera! The camera is oke when used in full daylight but at low light its just terrible and the sound quality isn't also that good. The oneplus 6 is better at taking video's etc but the p20 pro is way better at taking photo's.
also the overal build quality on the p20 pro is and feels so much better.

I've been thinking about ditching the P20 Pro and switching to OnePlus ot back to Google with Pixel 3, but can't make mind up
Update: just checked the pixels out and they look premium, interface seems slick, but u need 128gb version as 12gb has already been used with nothing else installed. The XL looks spot on and size is same as P20 Pro.

Some touch problems

Hello, I am new into huawei since I came from samsung devices. I bought this Huawei P9 Plus model VIE-L09 at my local phone store and carrier las 3 weeks, the phone came with android 6.0 and it was amazing and no bugs, all problems came when I update to android 7.0 via phone update... Half screen like 1centimeter in the exact half of the screen stopped working, I can type and all but scrolling down is pretty horrible... I think that downgrading its android version would fix the issue because the phonr has obly 3 weeks of use snd in any moment it fell from my hands or make something bad to the touch... please say if some of you have the same issue and if you know hou to downgrade this model can you provide me a guide please? I will definitely appreciate that. Thanks in advance
Try to reset device to factory. Android 7 for my p9 plus is perfect.
