[Q] HELP PLEASE BROKE MY HD2's Screen!!!

hi everyone so i managed to break my hd2s screen yeah i know it sucks.. right now im in the process of changing the digitizer for a new one i bought off of ebay.. i took the phone apart that was pretty simple but while doing so i removed many glue copper like stickers and also adhesive strips specially the one holding the digitizer and the lcd together.. my question is if anybody knows where i can buy the adhesive strips.. and most important the cooper like tape since it was covering the sides and the back part where the battery goes.. has anyone been successful at fixing their broken hd2 and is the copper-like tape important.. or can i just use some regular hot temperature resistant tape? well thanks in advance for the help

I know this doesn't really help you with your situation in any way but. I broke mine as well, and i just decided to let the insurance company handle it. I know it's expensive 130$ compared to the 50$ you could buy a new screen for. But they send you a brand new sealed in box phone, next day air shipping. I've only seen one video on how to replace the glass, and it was for the euro one, and it required, basically, completely disassembling the entire phone.

i broke the one on my blackstone bought one off ebay pretty cheap but i couldn't put it together ,i ended up paying $50 get it installed the right way

Samsung Focus screen lens glass replacement

I dropped my Samsung Focus and broke the screen glass. The touch screen works fine and i think only the outer screen glass has to be replaced.
I have searched on internet and found DIY repair videos to replace the LCD screen, but couldn't find any info about replacing the outer glass alone. But read its pretty hard to seperate the glass from LCD and replace it !!!
The LCD screen is costing around 120$ and the outer glass is costing 10-16$. I do not want to spend more unnecessarily if i can find a way to replace the outer glass myself.
Also, Samsung Focus is not oficially released here in India here, so i don't think i can approach the samsung itself.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi pranav. Same here , i have a samsung focus and lcd + outer glass screen is broken. In one of the screen replacement video i saw , the outer screen and the lcd as one unit and not seperate. Though , i am not completely sure.
Did you find a way to get the lcd or the outer glass for your phone in India?

I found only glass on eBay (hongkong or china i suppose). When i spoke to people from service center, all of them were saying it is not possible to replace only glass and they wont do it !!! i i don't know if it is really tough or they do not want to take much pain replacing glass and want to replace the whole LCD set which is easy for them.
And the total LCD + Digitizer + glass kit, i found it for 103$ in eBay US, and for 120 - 140$ in some other repair sites and Amazon.
Waiting for get the replacement from US as it costs less and get it fixed in a samsung service center.

Don't think that's possible. After all, the whole point of "super" in super amoled is that the glass is bonded to the display.

Can some one let me know if all the available replacements on eBay or Amazon are original samsung parts or not !!!

I also lost my samsung focus S 4G outer screen, phone is working find and the touch also, smooth as it was before. The outer glass got a hair line crack all over the screen. It fell on hard surface and got the crack.
Please help me to get the outer glass.

I've purchased the glass only and I'm waiting for it to arrive. It was very cheap and if it doesn't work, I'm not going to be too upset for buying it for about $11.00.

I can update if and when I receive my replacement glass from gogotoshop. I find the place questionable but used paypal and can dispute the transaction if it isn't legit.
BTW....removing the glass & digitizer is not an easy task. From attempting to remove my broken screen, I don't think it is possible to remove it from the LCD as the previous posters mentioned.

Thanks for reply, But my phone is Samsung focus s (i937), and I didnot find the front class or Digitizer or LCD or all together.
I have the same problem the front glass broken. other things are ok, I asked on sumsung service center they said the whole thing has to change, I am sure experts can change only the front class.
Anybody has any idea about if I can buy it in India or any site who can ship to India.
or in UK, my frnd is coming from there I will ask him to buy there for me.

Finally got my replacement LCD unit from US eBay. Actual seller is from china though.
Spoke to the Samsung service center guys and they are ready to do the replacement for a nominal service charge....
Going to service center now...

So just like the samsung and iphone models, the focus and focus s can be done the same way? I know for a fact that the galaxy s4 Active is best done by machine. Since ive tried but failed to do one. I have removed the glass from a galaxy s3 mini successfully, should this phone be the same? Please respond quickly!

I've cracked the screen on my S3 19305T. The buttons and screen actually work perfectly its just the glass screen that is broken. After doing some research I have found multiple sources where people say you can just replace the outer glass screen.
What my question is -
Is the i9300 outer screen the same as the i9305? I am looking at purchasing this but want to make sure its the same for i9305 - I have found a few ebay sellers who just have the glass screen for around $20AUD but need to make sure it fits before purchasing. Any other advice or feedback will be greatly appreciated also.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I need the glass screen with the 'sensor signal ribbon' or without for the i9305T?
Can anyone please confirm?

Not 100% but I do believe they are the same. Doubt you'd need the ribbon unless you cut the original while removing the glass so be careful.
Edit: Remember that you are only replacing the glass. There are no wires or anything connected. The digitizer and LCD are under it.

Hey mpeyrac, I wondered how you got along trying to replace the GS3 glass. I got myself into a similar situation this friday night...
Searching and asking around leads to contradictory advice: someone say the whole front needs replacing (including display) others have mentioned just the lens...

I would be 99.999% sure its like the I9300 and i have seen a youtube video of a guy only replacing the glass only but this is harder to do and its a really slow and tedious procedure.
do a youtube search you will see this guy in the states doing it. And yes it is also same screen for the US devices

The info I have from a distributor is that Samsung do NOT supply the glass on it its own so I would be a little cautious as to whether you would actually be getting gorilla glass.
I have also seen horror stories of people tryign to replace the glass and completelly srewing up the display. It is also a nightmare to get off.
I appreciate it is much more costly but I would actually buy the whole screen. In the UK you can get them for about £150 but you just do all the work from the back, move your circuit boards over. The whole screen assembly comes with the metal bezel so if you wanted to you could actually buy the black version.
Also, the 9305 and 9300 are different so make sure you get the 9305 version.

Lol, "cracking the display" while attempting the glass cheap fix is not a problem, you will be replacing whole screen unit anyways if that happens, if you succeed like many people, you save yourself some hundred bucks.

Down to budget and preference!
I have the budget so I would not even consider just replacing the glass, others may not but then if something goes wrong they will not have any choice.
But my main point is that Samsung do not supply just the glass on its own so imho you will probably not be getting gorilla glass.

Galaxy S5 Active Glass+digitizer

I have never had to replace the in a cell phone before but my wife managed to break the glass on the S5 Active (SM-G870A).
Has anyone else had to deal with this yet? I have searched every source I could find for the glass but it doesn't appear to be on the market yet.
Searching Alibaba for the glass comes up with glass for an s5mini glass replacement :-/

Same here I dont believe there is a replacement glass yet, which is really frustrating when it comes to Asurian bull crap which is the insurance company for any sort of replacement devices.. $199 is the deductible .

Is just the glass broken? The digitiser is all OK? Just so you know there iscavhigh chance your phone will no longer be water/dust resident if you do this.
It's not hard. Do you have the tools? Heat gun (a hair dryer could work) pics ( guitar pick could work) .
Just go slow and make sure you heat the glass up lots.
If you want it to be 100% you will have to glue the digi to the glass. This all depends on how mechanically inclined you are and you will need more tools and skills.

I realize the OP is over a year old. But I was recently looking for a replacement screen for my S5 as well. I came across this website that also has a screen replacement for the G870A.

I've dropped my xt1068 on a floor and the glass got cracked although the screen works perfectly (no damaged parts at all). I've buyed the replacement glass from ebay (this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Front...244?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566c04b4ec ).
My question is, have anyone passed through this situation? Is there any way to replace it without damaging the screen? I heard that glass is glued to the digitalizer screen and I'm worried.
Any thoughts?

I don't think it is glued, but if it is try putting some light heat on it, not real hot though. The glass is meant to be replaced. I'm guessing you have the disassemble instructions.

Thanks. But the video shows how to replace the whole screen, I just bought the glass (which I need to replace). I've little concerned about separating glass from screen.
And the only tutorial I found is for samsung galaxy s4.

I'd give it a shot. The worst you could do is have to put it back together with the broken glass. It's a pretty straightforward job taking it apart. Just be careful with the pins on the cables you unplug.
