So I did the ota update everything worked great then I rooted it using the Nexus toolkit and the sim either takes hours or it never gets found. I had to roll back to Android 6. Any ideas on what might cause it. Thanks.

Changes in the Nov security update. The newest SuperSU SR5 fixes that, see the Beta thread. Brain dead toolkits are often out of date. If you want to run the newest stuff, you should learn to do it yourself, and especially have nandoid backups. :good:
Thanks for the info. I'll look into the beta. Have to wait till the weekend to try again.
Edit: I also didn't have the latest version of the toolkit. It was always saying updating to latest version. Didn't realize that feature only worked for the paid version. Hopefully that will work for this time. Then I can start relearning all this stuff for when I finally get my pixel. Thanks again for your help man.

Ok since I have frf83, am I now rooted? Like can I use cyanogen mods and what not? The reason I'm asking is because I just saw a thread containing a new launcher called- TouchWiz...and the dev said that it requires root access -frf83- ... I'm not sure what this means lol.. I haven't rooted my nexus one, but am I rooted? :shrugs:
Thanks for helping me

did you get FRF83 OTA ? If so then no, you don't have root.
I forgot what OTA stands for.... But here is the process -basically- bought nexus one, installed froyo, installed the first update -frf50- then to frf72 now 83...
I mind you, this was not all at once lol.. I bought nexus one when it first came out.. All this was over time.. I updated my nexus when the updates first came at as well.. -all this is just a side note-
So basically, I just have the updates and not rooted? Right? ....
And what's this OTA thing? What does it do? What does it stand for? I forgot... And if I don't have it, should I get it? ..
Thanks again for your help, I'm just trying to get up to par with everybody lol

Yes you got the leaked builds that went out Over the Air (OTA).
You don't have root access.
That's right! Over the air.. I knew that. lol .. Ok that's what I thought, I appreciate man. So what we have is not official updates from google?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
The last one (FRF83) may be the final version. Previous ones were release candidates.
Hello. I have a leaked update that i have applied. I need someone else to also updated so i can get a nandroid of your system. I screwed mine up and cant test my next update. The update is just a radio so you can keep root with voodoo or reroot using the old method. Hit me up at [email protected] we can talk and i can help. These files should never go public as fastboot might not work.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
leaked update? radios? lets get some more info dude!!
I think I'm afraid to help by actually installing the radio, but do you know if it improves stability of signal? I have noticed the D4 occasionally losing data connectivity, although it says it still has bars and will receive phone calls (I think) during that time. (The problem goes away within seconds, but it is still somewhat annoying)
Ignore this. We have found the issue and will have everything fixed lol once we have fastboot files all will be released if the fastboot is able to revert them back.
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
nope, not ignoring it... you peaked my interest... can you at least tell us a little more about it?
Ill release more if someone running true stock meaning nothing has been removed creates me a nandroid of it using safestrap and sends me that file. I need a 215 system for a test. I promise to release information

Thats a totally different thing
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk
Okay fixed it lol here's the news. The 219 is really just a new radio. I won't release it till a fast boot is found. The second update I wanted to apply was 220 problem is we can't figure out what to update from. 215 and 219 both fail the assert process. Meaning they can't install. 220 has a radio kernel bootloader and is labeled rev package. A rev package is a reverse package meaning it may have something good but its at 97% that it isn't anything special. So nothing to freak out about. If we had fastboot files all would be released after the precautions were taken.

Newb here
Do you still need this?
As you can see from my post count, I'm new...new enough that I have not yet rooted my Droid 4, but I've been planning to. I might as well do it in a way that's helpful to developers if you still need that nandroid backup, but if you no longer need it, then I'm inclined to wait and see if fastboot files become available or until a non-beta ICS ROM comes out and lots and lots of forums members say it works on Droid 4 with no gripes.

Thank you but im good now lol just waiting now till 220 gets fixed by moto

Hello,
I have a 2012 nexus seven, do android 4.3 will work on it using normal android system upgrade from settings? Because it says that there isn't any update available.
And can I root the device normally afterwards?
And my data will be saved?

Over the air updates often take time to roll out. Give it time and the update will come.
Of course, you can root and flash a custom ROM based on 4.3, but unless you already have an unlocked bootloader, you will lose your data.

You'll lose root, but so long as you made no changes to the preinstalled /system portion of the ROM, the OTA should run without killing any of your data.

It can take a lot longer than that, several days or a few weeks sometimes.

If he has Superuser he can download OTA Root Keeper off Google Play to keep root when he installs the OTA or if he uses SuperSU instead, the pro (paid) version has an option to protect root.

Got the 4.3 upgrade OTA this morning but had to use the old trick.... "Google Services Framework > Force stop > clear data" to make it show up.

This is why it pays to have an unlocked bootloader.
You would be running 4.3, rooted, and no loss of data if you did.

Not at this stage, it seems.
"It means preserving root with OTA Root Keeper won't be possible anymore as new rooting techniques rely on more than just a setuid su binary in /system."

Yeah you are right. They updated their app to show it at the moment does not have 4.3 support. Rooting a Nexus device is easy enough, though, that I would not worry about it.

Finally got the update this evening! Had a notification to say it'd downloaded and was ready to install, but I was in the middle of fixing a Play Store issue which meant removing and reinstating my Google account...
Of course, this meant that the notification disappeared and I'm still stuck on 4.2.2 with the manual update via 'About tablet' not working.
If it's downloaded, can I assume that it's still somewhere on my device? If not, will I possibly have to wait days or weeks to receive the update again?!
I'm not rooted by the way.

Hey guys I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted device on 4.2.2. Just received ota update notification. If I proceed with the update will it keep root? When I updated via ota the past few times it kept root but with 4.3 I am unsure as I don't want to brick my device

No, not unless you install one of the 4.3 zips floating around XDA via custom TWRP recovery.

I'll start this off by saying I've been away from android for about a year now, just got my nexus back up and running and updated to 5.0 manually with adb. For some reason it didn't update completely or something though, I still seem to have the jb launcher. I updated straight from a jb version of paranoid android that was like 4.1, didn't think that would be a problem since I did the manual update. What do I need to do? I feel like this is probably just an obvious thing that I'm missing because of the time passed since I've done any of this

I downloaded the factory image and set it up from the beggining. It has jb launcher default. You have to download from google play yourself. There is no issue about it.
Thanks OP, I was in same boat
On a side question, I did mine OTA, any benefit to have done it via factory image instead?
Just install Google now launcher. Factory images are for those who can't wait for ota. If you have the ota then it's no different from factory images.

I personally think flashing the factory image is a little more stable (just my opinion, though). Plus it is way less of a hassle if you're using any rom mods, custom recovery, etc. since the OTA won't flash if you do any of these. Also, with an OTA you have to either wait for the notification or get the right zip to flash over the version you're currently running....for example, if you have 4.3 and you want to update to 5.0 via OTA zip you can't use the 4.4->5.0 one...you have to find the 4.3->5.0 one. Factory images 'just work'....way less headaches
Thanks. Doing flash via code method listed on thread here.
Hey, I'm trying to flash the recent canadian cm12 rom because the tmobile ones no longer work on them. Unfortunately it seems as though the phone won't flash them as it "thinks" its tmobile. While attempting to flash it says it can't as the the rom is trltecan and the phone is trltetmo.
How would I go about fixing this?

So did you go from another build to the cm 12 build or just stick to another one?
Would have been going from Liquid to CM12, I only tried flashing CM 2-3 times before i gave up. Have never been a huge fan. But was curious as to how it was running on Note4.
