TWRP 3.x.xLatest version of Twrp recovery from TeamWin for Huawei P8 has finally become official.
Although it should work on every P8 model, it has only been tested on GRA-L09.
If you own a different model and want to test, write me a PM.

Any MM firmware will be good.
supersu > 2.78 should work.
On my P8 GRA-L09 with TWRP 3.1.0-0 I can't make backups on my NTFS-formatted SD card. It says that It's read-only but works with a FAT32 SD card.

I'm sorry but I'm not a Dev.
The touchscreen doesn't work sometimes when booted in TWRP and gets fixed after pressing the power button twice.

TWRP Freezes?
I can confirm the issue that @erayrafet said on my GRA-UL00, as he said TWRP freezes sometimes and we need to lock and unlock the phone to fix it (Maybe because different model?), also aroma touchscreen freezes when installing my own private custom ROM (not sure if it is my zip issue or TWRP) as I can use vol+ and vol- and power button to navigate. Anyway you can find the log in the attachments.
Thank you very much for your help and efforts!!!!
3.1.1-0: "adb logcat" doesn't work
"adb logcat" doesn't work for me:
Code:
$ /usr/local/android/platform-tools/adb logcat
/sbin/sh: exec: line 1: logcat: not found
It seems this binary is not contained within our TWRP build:
Code:
~ # find / -name logcat -print
~ #
Am I the first one to encounter this?

Hey guys,
i feel a bit like an idiot...
I'm not able to boot in the twrp recovery
I tried to reboot via fastboot, manual by holding volume + and power...But always the stock recovery boots and not the twrp 3.1.1.0 on my gra-l09c432B398.
Why am I not able to do it?

First make sure you have unlocked Bootloader for this!
(when not you must downgrade to EMUI 2.3 and root it with root_genius.
this will also unlock the Bootloader )
Reboot in to bootloader and flash twrp for EMUI 3.1/Android 5.1.1
Link
Reboot into TWRP and flash the latest SuperSu thx @Chainfire
LINK
Reboot you're Phone an install Terminal Emulator and Busybox from Playstore.
Now type in the following commands:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cd system
lsattr
chattr -R -i *
rm –f /system/set_immutable.list
lsattr ( only to check if set_immutable.list is gone)
Now you should have full root !
Things I noticed so far: TWRP 2.8.6.0 can't read external storage (sdcard)
TWRP 2.8.1.0 can read sdcard.
Anyway I copied supersu into the internal storage and flashed for the 3rd time, twrp 2.8.6.0 again via adb and then flashed supersu via custom recovery from the internal storage.
Let's do the deleting immutable thing now.
Thanks Araca.

Had the same problem, don't use the serial number from the settings, use the one on the box that the phone came in.. Maybe there's a shortcut to dial to get the serial, all I know is that the serial in the settings didn't work for me.
Now I'm unlocked again and rooted

Do you think that if i reflash all the phone with b133 over b805 it will work because i can't get the unlock code for my bootloader and i've no keyboard,wifi(...) so adb don't work anymore, all the fastboot cmd are blocked because my bootloader is damn locked
it is 5.1.1

5.1.1 not rootable shame..will stay on KK
successfully rooted my phone with this description..
flashed 2.8.6.0..
loaded into twrp and made a reboot out of twrp..
su installed, updated binary, installed busybox, made the changes in terminal emulator: 100% root!
by the way this b805 is Android 5.1.1 and beta
just install it as described in the corresponding thread and then do the root procedure as described here..
i have none of the issues other users have..

Looking at the recovery log it seems there is an issue loading the graphics, so I have reverted one of the flags that I think is causing the issue.

NOTE: I will not support any posts related to flashing with Flashify, this app has issues with some devices. ODIN(prefered), TWRP and the DD method is fine.

Download and Installation
* Download twrp recovery
* Start your device in fastboot mode
* Install the recovery using the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [filename].img --> ex: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_mate9_0.1.img
* Restart with this command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
* As soon as you execute the restart command, remove the USB cable and keep pressing Volume UP,so the device will boot to TWRP.This is to avoid that the device boot to OS,overwritting TWRP recovery.
Features
Internal storage decryption = working
MTP and OTG connection = working
Backup&Restore = working

Thank you for such a great project!
I am very happy with this TWRP. Everything is working so far on EMUI, Android 8.
Data wipe is possible, cause OEM Path is excluded.
Vendor.img and System.img and recovery_ramdisk can be flashed by choosing img to the related img.
Backup, restore of all shown Partitions working perfectly.
Decryption of storage if using Fingerprint /PIN is working. Full encryption support for data..
Many thanks to @Pretoriano80 for this awesome and first most complete TWRP for Mate 9 :good::good:
BTW: @Blackball had tested this TWRP for P10 Plus and it is also working on this Device (so it will run also on P10).
Many thanks for testing too :good:
This is good to know... Going to have to give this TWRP a try. So what, to decrypt data, do I just have to format data in TWRP or?

Format data is only necessary if installing AOSP based Roms which require this (in installation guide)
But for Stock Firmware you don't need to decrypt (format) anything because encryption is fully supported
Of course, you can't install older Stock based Custom Rom which mount data in the updater-script without /dev/block/dm-0

If it's ask for password, then insert the same passwords/pin/pattern that you are using in Android, so TWRP can decrypt the internal storage.
That's the whole purpose of having a TWRP with decryption support.

TWRP for EMUI 9.1
THIS TWRP IS FOR DEVICES WITH KIRIN 65x SOC (HI6250) RUNNING EMUI 9.1 AND NOT EMUI 8
What's different from TWRP for Android 8?
erecovery_ramdisk option to flash .img
system_root partition for 9.1
What works now?
You can now flash .zip like Gapps and they'll work (before it gave error 64)
What doesn't work?
At the moment, I don't know if ADB sideload works.
Otherwise, everything seems to be working.
How to flash this TWRP
To recovery_ramdisk
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [TWRP].img
I DIDN'T BUILD ANY OF THIS
I only modified a TWRP (which I don't know the author, sorry) to make it work good on hi6250 EMUI 9.1 devices.
I would like to have the hardware and knowledge to build and develop new stuff but at the moment I can't.

This guy's doing gods work, saved me from throwing a perfectly good device into the trash. Working perfectly, tested on an ANE-LX1!

Tell me what device do you have (luckily I came back to XDA early enough, I hope)
Also, try flashing stock kernel (I can send mine for HUAWEI P Smart 2018 FIG-LX1C432 EMUI 9.1 B120)

It works! I had to flash 3 files for the stock recovery (recovery_ramdisk, _vbmeta and _vendor). Then i flash the twrp recovery and it works. The only problem is that when i browse internal storage, the folders name are all random characters... Why that?
Another question is, how can i root my device now?

Glad it worked!
Just flash Magisk like you would with any TWRP assuming it works. If you want recovery and root in a stupid way.. just flash my TWRP to recovery and in recovery, flash my or any other TWRP/recovery to e-recovery and after that, flash Magisk like usual.
Thank you for the build. Any chance of flashing this on a device with locked bootloader, like using an official flash tool to flash a signed recovery or using e-recovery (I have experience with bootloader and flashing but not with Huawei/Kyrin)?
I keep getting a (remote: partition length get error) error ... Any help ?
Thanks a lot!! :good:
The Google Drive Link doesn't work!
I am trying to root my Huawei P Smart but the Google Drive Link for TWRP doesn't work https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p-smart/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3953343
Was your Google account terminated. If you are able to can you send me the TWRP Image or if your Google account works can you upload the TWRP image to Google Drive?
Love from Greece![/QUOTE]
Hi, gelber here.
I'm sorry for the confusion, but I really barely touch XDA and as I deleted my old Google account, I lost access to this XDA account (I_am_gelber) and to that gdrive link. However, I can defo give the file back in a bit but I'm surely gonna forget. If you really want the file, please pm me at t.me/ActuallyNotGelb since I still need to give it a quick find.
Thanks!

Can you please upload the file to some website. I'm unable to create a Telegram account right now so can you please upload the image to any website? It would mean a lot for me for you to do that!
