hi,
would it be possible for me to downgrade my fire tablet from 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 as i can't install cyanogemod through 5.1.1. I've tried using flashfire with the zip file and rooting it but stays on the cyanogenmod boot screen and doesn't move. i just want to get rid of the fireOS and install cyanogenmod onto the fire tablet. can someone help please?

No - device will brick. FireOS version is unrelated to your issue. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/help/install-cyanogenmod-fire-tablet-5th-gen-t3512018

I accidentaly upgraded my fire from 5.1.1 to 5.1.2.1
The device was previously rooted.
Is there any way that I can downgrade?
Google services still works fine.
Kingroot is broken.

You need to reload 5.1.2 (can not go back to 5.1.1). See third post in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/index-amazon-fire-2015-t3210485/page11
I had the same thing happen to me recently. You will just need to do a restore firmware using 5.1.2. You can find the firmware here: http://rootjunkysdl.com/files/?dir=Amazon Fire 5th gen/Firmware Use the file dated 3/17/16. This video is helpful (although my drivers did not install automatically for me, I installed them manually though the supertool makes it easier) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQLoH-ahjy4
Sorry to thread jack but my kindle replacement just came in. It self updated during its stupid backup process. Can I go back to 5.1.1? I am going to guess that it came with that OS.

No, 5.1.1 = Brick.
Sideload 5.1.2 from the replies in this thread.

Yea I wound up just doing a 5.1.2 sideload and it fixed kingroot and all for me. Is there anything wrong with 5.1.2? Seems like 5.1.1 and up lose access to twrp so I guess thats the only difference.
Hi, I need help. Recently bought my Amazon Fire 5 gen. I'm trying to remove the Fire OS and install the CM 11. However, by inattention, I downgrade from version 5.1.2.1 to version 5.1.1. Now my Fire is no longer booting. Is there a solution?
Thanks.

Nope. Contact Amazon (or the place you bought it) for a courtesy exchange.
I have a rooted Kindle Fire 7 (2015) running 5.1.1. If I rename the OTA Device Update apks (or freeze them with App Quarantine/Freeze), can I upgrade to 5.1.2 with the .bin file using FlashFire? If so, what steps do I need to follow? Do I need to reflash the 5.0.1 bootloader, or will FlashFire prevent that from being affected?

If you're running the 5.0.1 bootloaders and want to keep them, you can just use this to upgrade to 5.1.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/howto-install-fireos-5-1-1-root-gapps-t3265594

Thanks! I had thought that following that process would work, but I was hoping that I could simplify it by using FlashFire.
Has anyone had any experience utilizing FlashFire to upgrade a rooted Fire to 5.1.2?

Not a good idea. The 5.1.2 (any) package from Amazon is not designed to be flashed in this manner. Good chance the 5.0.1 bootloader/kernel would be replaced; might also brick the device. It is possible to parse out the various components from an Amazon distributable allowing just the rom (system partition) to be flashed but I don't see the point given other options exist.
UPDATE: never mind...I found a thread
I went through all of the steps of the longer method and it worked perfectly! Has anyone upgraded to 5.1.4 this way (the original, not FlashFire) and successfully kept root?
Like the title says, I recently rooted my Fire 7 I got last week from Amazon prime day with the Nexus rom. I have just a few questions.
I should be safe from Amazon firmware updates since I'm not running their version of Android correct? (Amazon won't recognize my tablet and push an update)
If I decide I don't like this particular ROM can I still switch to CM12.1?
Lastly,
If I decide I need to return the tablet to stock, can just side load an old 5.1.2 amazon.bin file?
Any advice on apps that make a rooted fire great? Whats the purpose of Nova Launcher?

- Amazon can not push an update w/o FireOS
- You can switch to a different rom at anytime
- Sideloading 5.1.2 will return your device to "stock"
Thanks! This answers all my questions.
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get lollipop, or something similar to it working on my new fire tablet.
I've already rooted with kingroot, blocked some amazon stuff, loaded nova launcher onto it.
Now I'm trying to replace fireos altogether.
I've been trying to follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950
With 101 - Automatic installation under Windows !!!, since that seems like the easiest approach however:
1. Save the necessary Lollipop bootloaders zip into /sdcard/gscript on Fire HD, this will get you back into Lollipop
What are the "necessary lollipop bootloaders zip"? The guide is competely vague on what this is and I haven't been able to find any clear indications.
Sorry if this seems remedial, I'm new to android hacking.
