I want an aluminum bumper so bad. I'm just worried about if it bothers the signal..Seems no one comments on that much

Do you still need back cover when using th emetal bumper? I am in searching a case for my new note 2. Thx.
I have a review for one coming up, but the one I had didn't protect the back at all.
How did this one fair?

i've got this bumper as well as the bumper previously posted. i find this one to be more durable and study and it also goes over the back which stops your back cover and camera lens from touching whatever surface you put it on.
both can limit your options with accessories though since the ports for the headphones jack and microusb port are quite small and can block some accessories (it blocks my htc car charger and asus n7 2A charger so i ended up using a saw to cut a bit off the microusb area. still sturdy and durable.
the only thing i didnt like was that these cases arent grippy, so im just using an xtremeguard skin on the battery door since it adds a lot more grip.

if i remember correctly, on the note 2, according to the samsung tear down, the antenna isnt in the top corner, its on the lower part of the backside of the device (next to the speaker). signal on my device has not been affected.
I've been loving mines. Debating to grab other colors. As you see I replaced my back with a leather one just do to the oem cover being too slippery. I haven't noticed any loss in reception.

The PDair one has finger grooves on the sides. It should make it easier to hold.

Also the pdair one does not have its own buttons, rather large contoured cutouts for the existing buttons.

which, in other words, means its exactly the same as this ebay case that i bought.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Al.../160898550396?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:AU:3160
the cutouts are small and prevent you from using some accessories (some car chargers and headphones wont connect fully). its also only protecting the sides and the screen, it doesnt go over the back part at all so offers no back protection.
thats the reason why i ditched it for this one instead.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310537377953&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:1123
this one has bigger cutouts, is slightly thicker (read sturdier and more durable) and goes over the back a bit as well to reduce the risk of grains of sand rubbing against your camera glass when you lay it on a table.
Ended up ordering this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1xMetal-Alu.../271113513041?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
The back is pennies to replace and I've put a small piece of screen protector over the camera, so I'm not too concerned about those two factors.

I have the gold push button aluminum bumper and the rounded silver zomgo bumper. Of the two I prefer the look of the zomgo however the opening for the usb port is way to small. I got a discount from the seller and dremeled the opening and the usb seats perfect now.
Originally I paired them with the matching aluminum battery cover however after trial and error I found the metal battery cover (not the bumper) was causing pretty serious the signal degradation. So I got the carbon fiber battery covers which work great without degrading the Wifi or LTE signal.

Hi.
Does anyone know of a book style flip case which uses something other than a magnet to hold the lid closed?
Seems the magnets interfere with the s-pen.

Please note that you have to bend out the edge hook of the open flip cover a bit since it is to tight. Otherwise it woud damage your note if you open and close the flip many times
On the pricier side but the Spigen Snap is a really good case. Detachable shell from the wallet which is useful.

Thanks for the suggestion. This did look like a nice case, while searching for more info on it I stumbled upon the Spigen Illuzion case which is a bit more affordable while still fulfilling all my requirements. I've just ordered one and look forward to receiving it soon.

flip cases with a magnet on the side or in the flap shouldn't be a problem.
the only real issue is with cases that use a strong magnet behind the screen.
They are a little pricey but the offer great protection.

I had a flip case with magnet in the side. Found that the Pen wouldnt work on that side - Not by much - maybe 1 CM semi circle from the center of the Magnet around the screen.
So I removed it with a scalpel, took a little while since it was glued in but once removed all worked well expect that the case wouldnt hold shut which honestly was no big issue.
I am interesting in buying a case for my note 2, any questions? How about this one? This Case can make your Note 2 look like an iPhone.

Welcome to the forums. If you conducted a search, you would have found numerous threads that already discuss variations of metal cases that are available,

AFAIK, the best quality version of these aluminium cases (iPhone looking case) is the Zomgo. There should be several links to that product in the above-mentioned links.
There are also metal bumpers available, such as the 'Sweet Armor' case and the many eBay knockoff variations of it; Draco bumpers and such.
Besides which, you're more likely to make it look like an iPad than an iPhone.

I'd advise you to not get that case. The metal back reduces the signal and completely removes NFC functionality.

I recently bought a new aluminium case from eBay. However, I received the wrong one. I bought this Zomgo Ultra Thin case (http://www.casefanatic.com/samsung-2/note-2/case-galaxy-note-2/zomgo-galaxy-note-2-metal-case/):
(I think that link redirects to eBay for some reason so try and copy the link address)
But they sent me this 'KXX' case:
It feels very cheap - the aluminium is coarse, the volume buttons are stuck pressed down and the S Pen is impossible to remove without long fingernails or a tool. NFC doesn't work, as expected of an aluminium case.
I rate this case 3/10.

I recommend the bumper style metal cases though. They don't add much thickness to the phone, and the aluminium used in constructing it feels much sturdier.
vantt1 said:
My new aluminium bumper has arrived!! It took 16 days to post from Hong Kong to Australia, which is average. The quality of this case is much higher than the old one. The stepped appearance of the CNC machined case makes it look very cool, and the brushed-polished edges make it look like the S4's design, but curvier and actually aluminium.
The case has much more adequate padding on the inside (which I will have pictures of once my digital camera is recharged), making it fit much much more snugly. Although constructed using more aluminium, it actually feels lighter than my old one, because it is thinner and more tapered along the edges. The buttons on the outside actually click on this one, but they aren't recessed enough so that they can't be accidentally bumped when the edge is placed on a flat surface. The increase in width along all edges also mean that the micro USB port and headphone jack are now more recessed than before, only accommodating slim plugs without a short extender.
The disappointing thing though is that the case isn't raised along the top like it was on my S2, so the camera is still prone to scratching. But I am overall satisfied with this case - it no longer blocks NFC and I think cellular reception has improved as well. The old one was practically a Faraday cage for the Note 2.
Final score: 8/10
As you can see, I also got a carbon fibre sticker, an aluminium home button sticker and a tempered glass screen protector, homage to my Galaxy S2's accessories.
My old setup:
Update:
Comparison of new case with old case; the new bumper case is a lot sturdier than my old case.
The padding on the inside also holds the Note 2 in place better.
The case fits together very well - almost seamlessly where the two halves meet.

Does anyone have this case? How protective and durable is this cover and how does it impact wireless charging?
Thanks,
Mason
Wireless charging works fine for me. The material doesn't seem durable, but it is. As far as drops go, the corners seem Saturday and there's a lip along the top to protect the screen.
Good case overall. Itsy preference after trying the clear case and the LED cover.
does it cover a lot of the edge of the screen?

I luv the case adds grip and a nice texture... Basic protection I guess. But doesn't add any bulk.. I luv it
one of the best cases you will get for your Note 8 that is for sure :good:
very durable, i have had it for over a month now and it looks just as good as the day i got it out the box
and im a heavy user!
I bought mine off ebay (authentic), used it for a day but still feels a bit bulky in my smallish hands. Kinda bummed because I did like the texture but so far, the tpu Ringke case is the only one that feels secure in my hand for me.
PS, if you want mine, feel free to PM me. Posted it on CL today
I have the gray Alcantara case and I love it. I just got the Samsung Plastic case and it's super thin. It feels just like the back glass of the Note8 itself. Not very protective though.
Composed on Galaxy Note8
I had this case on an S8+ and now the Note 8. It is VERY expensive for what it is. However, I do like it a lot. It is a case for folks like me that what the minimal, thinnest case possible. No problem with mag charging. I find it is pretty durable and holds up well. Of course fit is perfect.
Might not be a good choice for someone like my wife who needs maximum protection for dropping their phone daily on concrete. Other than the cost, go for it.
Great case, makes your phone very unique as not many other cases around like it.
Black is best IMO, my Note8 is gold so whenever i fancy a black Note8 i can slap this case on and it matches the cameras.
most durable case i have used, definitely worth the price. You can get them cheaper on Amazon than direct from Samsung.
I'm sure someone will point me to the YouTube review of cases on a Note 8 with the Whitestone TGSP, but does anyone have pics of this case with that TGSP? Some people say, yes it fits, some say no. I really want to get this case but am wondering if it actually fits with the TGSP and won't cause the edge to lift.

I love this case!
I have various others but they are forgotten about.... I love the way it feels and looks. I was cooking the other day and spilled some sauce on it and it cleaned up with wet paper towel no problem.
I have the Grey color and used my Note 8 discount code.
I might get another when i see a deal.

the bottom 2 'catches' on this case might or might not cause the Whitestone to lift.
I didn't take a chance and trimmed them back some to match the top contours with a dremel and super fine sanding disk on very low speed.
Now mine 100% does NOT touch the bottom 2 corners and you cannot tell I modded the case.
A few weeks after using the Alcantara case in the jean's front pockets it started to wear off at the corners exposing the black plastic at it's core.
Works with fast wireless charging and DeX. I offers medium shock protection as the interior is also soft, absobing some of the impact.
I have the grey one and it is sooooo good looking. I was going for the black one but when I saw the grey one I fell for it. It fits perfectly and it has such a good feel to it.

I only have a few days on so I haven't cleaned it yet. When I do I will probably use a dump cloth with some mild soap then wipe it with a dump cloth without any soap. The set it aside to dry.

I've got the black one, but got sick of it in a day. Nice idea but the fuzz - looks a little 'ratty' after a couple of days. I guess I could clean it, but... the Pitaka minimal bulletproof case is amazing!

How good is the Pitaka Mag case, along with the magnetic wireless charger? Are they worth the price tag? I'm wondering if there are any discount codes floating around?
MagEZ Case for Samsung Galaxy S21/S21+/S21 Ultra - PITAKA
A durable and minimalist case for Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra. Magentic compatibility with MagEZ magnetic chargers and accessories.
www.ipitaka.com
I ordered it and sent it back, because I got sweaty hands from the case and it was very fast full of fingerprints. The carbon one might be better
What's the carbon one? The Air?
None of Pitaka is carbon, they are all aramid. Both the magez and the air case are the same material. The air does not have metal plates embedded and is therefore a little thinner.
Opinion: They are brilliant.
I got this case its light and have 360 + camera protection, added a rounded metal plate on the bottom of the phone and got this very strong magnetic holder love this setup, maybe don't like that there is no raised top and bottom, only 4 corners are raised be like 1-2 mm so placing the phone on the table face down is possible but not recommended imo unless you have some protector on the screen. Also you can check Mous case and mounts they look rly nice and have epic protection but they should increase phone bulkiness a lot.

Yes, Mous case are indeed very good protection and quite good looking.
I'm waiting for their magnetic charger to come out to try it eventually.
But to come back to op question, yes I think Pitaka case looks great, but keep in mind that it is very minimal protection, if that's important to you.
By the way, anyone can think why the thinner lighter without metal version of the Pitaka case is more expensive than the magnetic one?
